The article considers the main quantitative changes in hemolymph cells under the action of the drug «Enteronormin» when fed with 50% sugar syrup during 10 days compared with the changes in the control group that received only sugar syrup. On the 3rd day, the hemogram of the bees that received the drug did not differ from the bees that received the sugar syrup only. Positive dynamics in the quantitative composition of the hemolymph was observed on the days 7–10. The number of phagocytic cells was 1.38% less than in the control group, and 2.0% of neutrophils less and 0.63–1.13% of eosinophils. The number of secretory cells increased, in particular, gliwocytes by 1.17% and 1.62%, respectively. It is noted that the medication «Enteronormin» has been extended to the extent of 3 days not a positive effect on the immune system of bees. Therefore, the drug «Enteronormin» should be fed for at least 7 days, taking into account the quantitative changes in hemocytes. On the twenty-first day the effect of the drug was preserved. The most appropriate term for drug feeding with the aim of activating the cellular immunity is defined to be 7–10 days.

In the study, we assessed the effect of hemp extract on activities of resistance parameters and the metabolic compound concentration in adult workers’ hemolymph. Bees were divided into the following groups: (1) control group fed with mixture of sugar and water-glycerine solution, (2) experimental group with pure sugar syrup and inside with cotton strips soaked with hemp extract, (3) experimental group with a mixture of sugar syrup with hemp extract. Hemp extracts caused an increase in the protein concentrations and reduced the protease activities regardless of the administration method. The protease inhibitor activities were decreased only in the group that received hemp extract on the strips. The biomarker activities (ALP, ALT, AST) increased from the control group and workers feeding extract in syrup and decreased in workers supplemented with the extract on strips. In young, 2-day-old workers, the glucose concentration was higher in the groups feeding with the extract than in the control. Hemp extract influenced an increase in urea concentrations in workers’ hemolymph in comparison with the control. The hemp supplementation positively influences the immune system of workers, and the appropriate method of administration may be adapted to the health problems of bees.

The results of tests of a new combined feed additive Bioprotektin-KD based on milk thistle extract with the addition of a complex of bacteria of the genus Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium to restore intestinal microbiota of animals are presented. Preclinical studies on the effectiveness of the feed additive were conducted on mice with experimental antibiotic-associated dysbacteriosis. Studies on the intestinal microbiota of mice revealed varying degrees of effect of different doses of feed additive on the recovery of resident microflora. The results of pre-clinical studies have proven the harmlessness, non-toxicity and efficacy of the feed additive. Clinical trials of the additive were carried out on productive animals. Its effect on the productivity of black-motley breed cows in a livestock farm in the Belgorod region was studied. The use of the functional feed additive Bioprotectin-KD had a positive effect on the milk productivity of black-motley breed cows. Cows in the experimental groups that received the feed additive had increased their milk yield per lactation by 209.41-499.01 kg compared to the control animals, which was 4.01-8.78%. The quality indicators of milk have increased. The composition of the microflora of the experimental (feed supplement recipients) and control calves was studied. It was found that the quantitative composition of probiotic flora in the intestines of young calves of the control group remained practically unchanged throughout the experiment. The number of indigeneous microflora (lactobacilli and bifidobacteria) increased in the experimental animals. The content of lactic acid microorganisms in the experimental calves began to increase on day 6 of feed supplementation and reached physiological norm on day 30. The safety index of the product has been calculated. The use of the functional feed additive Bioprotektin-KD in conditions of a livestock complex has improved such production indicators as calf survival, average daily weight gain, and milk productivity of cows in the experimental groups of animals as compared to the control ones.

At present, Ukraine is one of the first honey producing country in Europe. Around 100 thousand tonnes of honey are produced annually in Ukraine, therefore, maintaining the health of the bee colonies is an important issue. The use of different groups of drugs for the prevention of bee diseases is strictly controlled, now the known alternatives to antibiotics are probiotics. The micro-organisms in these preparats are able to synthesise vitamins and amino acids necessary for the growth and development of bees, which in turn activates the immunocompetent cells of the insects and prolongs their life. The immunomodulatory and immunostimulatory ability of such supplements of “beneficial” microorganisms is known, both in veterinary and human medicine. The use of such remedies is therefore promising in the field of modern beekeeping. “EM® PROBIOTIC FOR BEES” is a biopreparation that positively influences the microbiological environment of insects, as the preparation is based on Effective Microorganisms®. The ability of this probiotic to influence the dynamics of life span of Ukrainian steppe bees in a wooden entomological cage experiment (in vivo) was the main objective of the experiment. The effect of the probiotic on bee viability was determined by daily analysis and counting the number of dead insects. The study involved the settlement of bees in a wooden entomological cages and the creation of optimal conditions for their keeping (at a temperature of +24 – +25 °C and a humidity of 50–70 %). The product was diluted with buckwheat honey syrup solution and sugar syrup solution at concentrations of 5 %; 2.5 %; 1.25 %; control groups of bees received native solutions of the sugar syrup and buckwheat honey syrup. The analysis of the results shows a positive effect of “EM® PROBIOTIC FOR BEES” on the longevity of Ukrainian steppe worker bees of the winter generation in a entomological cage experiment. A beneficial effect of the probiotic product diluted in sugar syrup at concentrations of 1.25 % to 5 % has been detected on the bee organism, which increased their lifespan. When the product was diluted with buckwheat honey syrup, the best longevity of the insects was recorded at a concentration of 1.25 % compared to the control group of bees. The coefficient of average life expectancy of bees indicates the predominance of sugar syrup as a solvent for this probiotic compared to buckwheat honey syrup under laboratory conditions.

Introduction: The complement system adds antibodies and helps phagocytic cells to destroy pathogens from the body. This is part of a congenital immune system that is not adaptive and does not change over the individual life. However, complement can be "triggered" by the adaptive immune system. The complement system is the main effector of the humoral patr of the immune system. Activation of complement results in opsonization, chemotaxis and cytolysis. Regulation of the complement system can control inflammatory diseases including psoriatic arthritis and vice versa, complement fixation disorders can lead to illness. Treatment with anti-TNF blokers complement activity in patients with inflammatory joint diseases. Objective: To investigate C3, C4 fractions of complement, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), C-reactive protein (CRP), and complement the response prediction and monitoring of anti-TNF treatment in patients with psoriatic arthritis.Materials and Methods: 36 patients were included sequentially before treatment with TNF-a-blokers. C3, C4, ESR, CRP were assessed at baseline at 6 and 12 months after initiation of treatment with TNF-α blockers. The activity of the disease is measured by the DARSA disease activity scale, the responses being compared with a control group of persons similar in gender and age. Statistical data processing was performed using the SPSS v25.Results and conclusions: According to the results obtained, C3 and C4 were significantly higher than controls at initiation of treatment (C3 111.3 ± 30.8, C4 91.9 ± 12.4 mg / dl, controls 19.1 ± 8.3 mg / dl, 10.2 ± 5.6 mg / dl p = 0.001, p = 0.001). At 6 and 12 months of follow-up, 76.2% of patients had a reduction in the level of C3 and C4 (p = 0.002, 0.001, respectively). It was found that higher baseline levels of C3 were associated with higher DARSA values at 6 and 12 months. Conclusion: The study of the C3 and C4 complement fractions can be used as biomarkers to estimate the prognosis of TNF-blocker therapy.

The influence of trauma on parameters of humoral immunity changes has been studied. The study includes 52 patients with various forms of traumatic illness, aged 18-69 years (37,91±4,28). The control group consisted of 16 patients who had undergone a routine surgery not related to the pathology of musculoskeletal system. All patients of the main group were divided into 3 groups according to the severity of their condition. Analysis of parameters of cellular link of immune system was performed by defining the pool of B-lymphocytes (CD22+ lymphocytes), determination of main classes' immunoglobulins, and calculation of integrated indicators. The highest expression (immune disorders of II-III grades) of changes of cellular immunity was observed in patients with severe traumatic illness (detailed clinical picture). Surgical intervention, even without traumatic injury significantly affect cellular immunity, but in patients with traumatic illness immunity disorders were significantly higher than in the comparison groups.

Summary As a result to a microhial stimulus different defence systems are activated. Bacterial lipopolysaccharids (endotoxins) can lead to activation of the immune system in which phagocytic cells like macrophages. secrete cytokines and inflammatory mediators. Owing to a hyperactivation of immune mechanisms and also to generalized inflammatory processes organic lesions or even multiple failure of organs can evolve due to influences by cytokines and anaphylatoxines. On a standardized peritonitis model with wistar-pragrats. release of endotoxin. interferon-gamma synthesis and release of hiopterin into plasma has heen measured 6 hours after intraperi to neal administration of E.-coli-haemoglobin suspension. In the initial phase of the immune response interferon-gamma - being endogenously induced by endotoxin - stimulates synthesis of pteridines. Due to antagonistic effects to the cytokines (which stimulate the inflammatory processes) interferon-gamma regulatorily intervenes with the inflammatory mechanisms. The production of biopterin serves as a measure of activation of the monocyte/macrophage system. In comparison to a control group. treated with sodium chloride. statistically significant different have been found in the measuring parameters endotoxin. biopterin and interferon-gamma. The significant correlation of all parameters confirm the quick activation of immune mechanisms as response of the immune system to endotoxinaemia in diffuse purulent peritonitis.

Over the last three decades, a growing number of studies have investigated the effects of instruction on the acquisition of pragmatic features in L2. The bulk of this research has focused mainly on the teaching of English as a second/foreign language. However, instructional pragmatic studies in L2-Russian are lacking. The main purpose of our study is to contribute towards filling this gap by analysing the effects of pragmatic instruction on the acquisition of two speech acts by Italian learners of Russian. Furthermore, we aim to explore whether the Multimodal Russian Corpus (MURCO), a multimedia subcorpus of the Russian National Corpus, can be an effective tool for teaching speech acts in L2-Russian. Our research was composed of one experimental group (n = 18) and one control group (n = 11); each was composed of two intact classes of Italian university students at an intermediate level of L2-Russian, who were pre- and post-tested using a written discourse completion task. The experimental group was subjected to a programme of pragmatic instruction – eight thirty-minute MURCO-based lessons devoted to requests and advice, while the control group was taught according to the standard syllabus, that is, with no pragmatic instruction. The results revealed that the use of the target pragmatic features varied significantly in the experimental group, but not in the control group, thus showing a general positive effect of the instructional treatment based on the MURCO corpus. However, some limitations were identified with regard to the usability of this tool by teachers and learners.

Introduction: In recently ears factors of innate immunity both cellular and humoral have been paid considerable attention as they are a protective barrier of a fast response and that is why they are largely concentrated at the intersection of the digestive tract and airways. The data concerning the activity level of factors of innate immunity in the upper airways affected by nonspecific inflammatory processes is insufficient and sparse and therefore the purpose of this research was to study the content of humoral factors of innate immunity in the oropharyngeal secretion (ORS) of patients with chronic infectious inflammatory diseases of the upper airways in remission. Materials and Methods: There was an examination of 16 patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) of bacterial genesis (15-40 years old), 12 patients with rhinopharyngitis of post-viral genesis (8-16 years old), 12 people with scleroma from 30 tо 52 years of age (atrophic form), 10 patients with chronic tonsillitis in remission (from 10 to 33 years of age) and 11 patients of a control group (practically healthy donors from 12 tо 40 years of age). The content of MIP-1b, defensin-1β, lactoferrin, lysozyme, α-interferon was studied in the nonstimulated OPS. Statistics were carried out using Mann-Whitney U-test. Results: The greatest number of deviations in the decrease in the content of the examined nonspecific protective factors was found in cases of scleroma, chronic tonsillitis and chronic rhinosinusitis (p<0,05). The lack of protective humoral factors of innate immunity can be evidence of local immunodeficiency even in remission, which is a pathophysiological component of the maintenance of chronic inflammation. Conclusion: The decrease int he quantitative composition of factors of innate immunity in the oropharyngeal secretion of patients with chronic infectious inflammatory diseases of the airways is an objective ground not only for a replacement therapy, but also for the use of immune response modifiers from photo-immune modulators to “genuine immune modulators” controlling the state of the factors of both innate immunity and immunoglobulins, primarily of secretory type, the level and functionality of various groups of immunocompetent and accessory cells.

Recent evidences suggest that gut microbiota plays an important role in regulating physiological and metabolic activities of pregnant sows, and β-carotene has a potentially positive effect on reproduction, but the impact of β-carotene on gut microbiota in pregnant sows remains unknown. This study aimed to explore the effect and mechanisms of β-carotene on the reproductive performance of sows from the aspect of gut microbiota. A total of 48 hybrid pregnant sows (Landrace × Yorkshire) with similar parity were randomly allocated into three groups (n = 16) and fed with a basal diet or a diet containing 30 or 90 mg/kg of β-carotene from day 90 of gestation until parturition. Dietary supplementation of 30 or 90 mg/kg β-carotene increased the number of live birth to 11.82 ± 1.54 and 12.29 ± 2.09, respectively, while the control group was 11.00 ± 1.41 (P = 0.201). Moreover, β-carotene increased significantly the serum nitric oxide (NO) level and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activity (P < 0.05). Characterization of fecal microbiota revealed that 90 mg/kg β-carotene increased the diversity of the gut flora (P < 0.05). In particular, β-carotene decreased the relative abundance of Firmicutes including Lachnospiraceae AC2044 group, Lachnospiraceae NK4B4 group and Ruminococcaceae UCG-008, but enriched Proteobacteria including Bilophila and Sutterella, and Actinobacteria including Corynebacterium and Corynebacterium 1 which are related to NO synthesis. These data demonstrated that dietary supplementation of β-carotene may increase antioxidant enzyme activity and NO, an important vasodilator to promote the neonatal blood circulation, through regulating gut microbiota in sows.
