This research presents the results of the proximal analysis of turmeric rhizome flour (Curcuma longa) from different areas of Valle del Cauca (Colombia) and the quantitative estimation of the uptake of the radical 2,2-diphenyl-1-Picrylhydrazyl (DDPH) of the methanolic extracts of the flour. The results of the proximal analysis evidence that some parameters do not show evident differences. However, others, such as total fat, show differences between the turmeric crops with conventional and agroecological fertilization. The values obtained from the different samples for proteins and carbohydrates are in an average normal range (9.3% and 70.5%, respectively), which fulfills the requirement to be a nutritional supplement. The free radical uptake (FRS) test of the extracts showed an antioxidant activity of the different samples tested for FRS50 (%) of 2.11 ± 0.06 µg / mL (Yumbillo, Y), 1.34 ± 0.26 µg / mL (Guacas, G), 4.22 ± 0.06 µg / mL (Magdalena, M), 9.16 ± 0.32 µg / mL (Commercial, C), 1.29 ± 0.26 µg / mL (Santa Rosa de Tapias, SR), and 1.33 ± 0.05 µg / mL (Limonar, L), which were contrasted with the values of quercetin (Q) 1.01 ± 0.51 µg / mL, vitamin C (V) 2.07 ± 0.45 µg / mL, and piperine (P ) (0,0) µg / mL. The proximal nutritional value plus the oxidizing activity, due to the concentration of phenolic compounds, make turmeric flour a functional food.

The aim of this work was to valorize the microalgae Nannochloropsis gaditana grown in Algeria for the purpose of producing human and animal food supplements as well as bioactive substances. The microalga had a fresh matter content of 9.33±1.15%. The amount of ash (6.4 ± 0.23%) was high and reflected mineral richness. Total sugars represented 7.13±0.23%. Proteins and lipids represented 13.38±0.2% and 7±1%, respectively. The ethanolic (EENg) and methanolic (MENg) extracts obtained from 10 g of lyophilisates of N. gaditana represented respectively 24±1.65% and 14.2±0.7%. The evalu-ation of the polyphenols in these extracts showed interesting rates repre-senting 41.53±0.41 mg gallic acid equivalent (GAE)/g of EENg dry extract and 38.72±0.33 mg GAE/g for the MENg. The flavonoid contents were 19.82±1.65 and 18.61±1.45 mg quercetin equivalent (QE)/g respectively for the ethanol-ic and methanolic extracts of this microalgae. The condensed and hydrolyza-ble tannins represented respectively 0.35±0.04 and 0.63±0.09 mg of tannic acid/g of dry EENg. They also represented respectively 0.50±0.08 and 0.18±0.02 mg of tannic acid/g of dry MENg. The antioxidant activity generat-ed by the extracts EENg and MENg against 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazil (DPPH ) and by the reducing power of iron (FRAP) seems appreciable com-pared to that of ascorbic acid. These results are in favor of the development of the microalgae sector constituting a futuristic vision to allow the development of the sector with a view to sustainability.

Crataegus mongyna Jacq is an endemic species of eastern Algeria, used in traditional medicine for its many therapeutic virtues. Its leaves and fruits are rich in polyphenols. In the present study we wanted to research its polyphenolic components in which it is rich. The method we used is high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and evaluation of the antioxidant activity in the methanolic extracts of its leaves and fruits. For this evaluation we followed the free radical reduction method DPPH (2, 2-diphenyl-1-picryl hydrazyl) by an antioxidant. The results show, the presence of polyphenolic components such as rutin, quercetin and isoquercetin and significant antioxidant activity. Crataegus monogyna Jacq is could be placed as an alternative treatment for certain pathologies because it is of value for public health.

There are 2 main estimates of the energy nutritional value of feed and fat when rationing high-yielding dairy cattle. The determination of fat digestibility of common feeds and fat additives by the in sacco method in the rumen and by the method of mobile pouches in the intestine, the digestibility and energy absorption of feed fat on the basis of differentiated balance experiments on cows. The study of lipid digestion in the rumen and intestines showed that the lipids of the studied feed were 6086 digested in the rumen. From 4.3 to 16 of lipids were digested in the intestines. It was found that the digestibility of fat both in the rumen and in the intestines is higher in grain feed and meal compared to coarse feed. The study of the digestibility of commercial protected feed fats in the rumen by the in sacco method and in the intestines by the mobile bag method showed that only a small part of the samples have the necessary characteristics for this class of feed products. To compare methods for evaluating the total digestibility of feed fat in the gastrointestinal tract of cows, a fat feed additive was selected with an average fat digestibility estimated by the incubation method at 55.1. Determination of the total fat digestibility of this additive in the gastrointestinal tract based on the determination of the digestion of the diet without the additive and separately with its inclusion by calculation showed the digestibility of the studied feed at the level of 59.2. The difference in the overall digestibility of the studied fat Supplement evaluated by different methods was 4.1 abs. and 7 relative . Thus, the assessment of nutritional and energy value can be carried out both by the incubation method and by direct balance experiments.

In the ecosystem of Serra Da Estrela, some plant species have the potential to be used as raw material for extraction of bioactive products. The goal of this work was to determine the phenolic, flavonoid, tannin and alkaloid contents of the methanolic extracts of some shrubs ( Echinospartum ibericum, Pterospartum tridentatum, Juniperus communis, Ruscus aculeatus, Rubus ulmifolius, Hakea sericea, Cytisus multiflorus, Crataegus monogyna, Erica arborea and Ipomoea acuminata), and then to correlate the phenolic compounds and flavonoids with the antioxidant activity of each extract. The Folin-Ciocalteu's method was used for the determination of total phenols, and tannins were then precipitated with polyvinylpolypyrrolidone (PVPP); a colorimetric method with aluminum chloride was used for the determination of flavonoids, and a Dragendorff's reagent method was used for total alkaloid estimation. The 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and β-carotene bleaching tests were used to assess the antioxidant activity of extracts. The identification of phenolic compounds present in extracts was performed using RP-HPLC. A positive linear correlation between antioxidant activity index and total phenolic content of methanolic extracts was observed. The RP-HPLC procedure showed that the most common compounds were ferulic and ellagic acids and quercetin. Most of the studied shrubs have significant antioxidant properties that are probably due to the existence of phenolic compounds in the extracts. It is noteworthy to emphasize that for Echinospartum ibericum, Hakea sericea and Ipomoea acuminata, to the best of our knowledge, no phytochemical studies have been undertaken nor their use in traditional medicine been described.

Research on the antioxidant lycopene of tomato fruit (Solanum lycopersicum L.) blended in frying fat from catfish (Clarias sp) oil has been done. The purpose of this research is to determine the antioxidant activity of tomato lycopene before and after being grounded into frying fat and determine the quality of frying fat after being grounded with tomato lycopene. The antioxidant activity of tomato lycopene is determined by the DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method. Analysis of frying fat quality includes determination of pH, determination of FFA (free fatty acid) levels, determination of total fat content, measurement of water content, peroxide number and organoleptic observation. Antioxidant activity of tomato lycopen was very high, namely with inhibition value of 89.79%; 90.34%; 91.49% and 92.10%. Frying fat analysis showed high antioxidant activity of lycopene tomatoes with 50.67% inhibition; 51.63%; 51.39% and 51.23%. The results of the analysis of the quality of frying fat are nearly same with SNI quality standards, except for peroxide numbers. Keywords: tomato, lycopene, antioxidants, frying fat, catfish, DPPH
