Key role of milling in the optimization of TiO2 nanoinks

Nanostructured films of TiO2 are becoming more and more attractive as a consequence of their improved sensing properties. Screen printing represents an important low-cost alternative for the production of high-performance devices for the automotive industry. However, to obtain films with superior properties, the composition and each step of the ink production must be carefully controlled. Milling strongly influences the rheological properties of the ink and, as a consequence, the quality of the deposited film. The as-prepared ink was homogenized in a four steps-process with a three-roll mill, and the rheological properties at each intermediate stage were measured. The results showed the dramatic effect of the milling on the flow properties of the nanoink and suggested the importance of a careful control of this step. The rheological behavior of the inks was explained using the basic idea of the transient network theory (TNT) for physically cross-linked networks of polymer solutions. Only an optimized cycle of milling can assure the necessary reproducibility of the ink properties as well as their time stability.

Glasses, in their different forms and compositions, have special properties that are not found in other materials. The combination of transparency and hardness at room temperature, combined with a suitable mechanical strength and excellent chemical durability, makes this material indispensable for many applications in different technological fields (as, for instance, the optical fibres which constitute the physical carrier for high-speed communication networks as well as the transducer for a wide range of high-performance sensors). For its part, ion-exchange from molten salts is a well-established, low-cost technology capable of modifying the chemical-physical properties of glass. The synergy between ion-exchange and glass has always been a happy marriage, from its ancient historical background for the realisation of wonderful artefacts, to the discovery of novel and fascinating solutions for modern technology (e.g., integrated optics). Getting inspiration from some hot topics related to the application context of this technique, the goal of this critical review is to show how ion-exchange in glass, far from being an obsolete process, can still have an important impact in everyday life, both at a merely commercial level as well as at that of frontier research.

Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is an autoimmune disease with fibrosis of the skin and/or internal organs, causing a decrease in quality of life and survival. There is no causative therapy, and the pathophysiology of the SSc remains unclear. Studies showed that lipid metabolism was relevant for autoimmune diseases, but little is known about the role of lipids in SSc. In the present study, we sought to explore the phospholipid profile of SSc by using the lipidomics approach. We also aimed to analyze lipidomics results for different clinical manifestations of SSc. Experiments were performed using high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry for the lipidomic profiling of plasma samples from patients with SSc. Our study showed, for the first time, significant changes in the level of phospholipids such as plasmalogens and sphingomyelins from the plasma of SSc patients as compared to controls. Phosphatidylcholine plasmalogens species and sphingomyelins were significantly increased in SSc patients as compared to controls. Our results also demonstrated a significant association of changes in the metabolism of phospholipids (phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine plasmalogens species and sphingomyelins) with different clinical manifestations of SSc. Further lipidomic studies might lead to the detection of lipids as new biomarkers or therapeutic targets of SSc.

It has been observed that training in the hospitality industry becomes a challenge as the employees in this industry have been significantly increased in recent years. Employees are trained to perform well in the organizations while they are also paid to perform in a specific department. It’s the combination of experience, calibre, knowledge, skills and abilities that pushes you forward to the particular position to perform in any organization.  The hospitality industry expects a high demand in the area of performing and delivering a high quality of service to the guests. Bearing in mind that the hotels needs a constant and regular business to sustain the market. In order to be able to have a strong and healthy competition environment the hotels have come out with a strategy of making and pushing things from the management perspective to deliver and have a high performance by the employees. This paper is to investigate how employees in hotels are encountering emotions with the guests that lead them to underperform in various levels and to see whether training can be applied to increase their performance over time. The main objective of this paper is to investigate the role of Q metric in the training of emotional intelligence competence. The population sample was drawn among the employees of the hospitality industry in Tamilnadu to identify the significance of Q metric. A model was developed by using analysis of moment structure (AMOS). A model is fit to ensure the model for Q metric approach in the training of Emotional intelligence competence among the employees of the hospitality industry, Tamilnadu. Recommendations have been discussed and proposed for future use to any research in this field of academic.

This paper focuses on the determinants of the impact of social networks on the recruitment process in Kosovar enterprises, concluding that the main factor of that impact is the quality of information, cost benefits, and timeliness. Another factor of particular importance is the competitive advantages social networks provide with respect to efficiently attracting suitable candidates to recruit through their unified data processing speed. The managers interviewed in this study provided evidence that recruitment using social networks is faster than with traditional methods. Social networks enable firms to quickly and easily access applicants from all over the world easily at a low cost. Social networks provide in-depth discussions to understand the views and opinions of both parties in the recruitment process. The information provided by social networks on the personal and professional life of the potential job candidate makes social networks an important tool for recruitment

Purpose This study aimed to examine young, middle-aged and mature air-travelers’ perceptions of the quality levels of in-flight physical surroundings and service encounters, and investigated the drivers of their repurchase intentions in the low-cost airline industry. Design/methodology/approach A sample of 402 passengers on international flights was used. An ANOVA and a series of multiple-regression analyses based on Baron and Kenny’s (1986) suggestion were used. Findings In general, significant differences in quality attributes were identified across age groups. Additionally, the role of these quality components, perceived level of the airfare and trust in the airline were found to be decisive in low-cost airline passengers’ decision formation. Further, the mediating impact of perceived level of the airfare and trust was identified. Originality/value Research about air-travelers’ decision formation by considering their age is rare in a low-cost airline context. Results of the present study provided meaningful insights for researchers and practitioners in the airline industry.
