Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui komposisi dan fluktuasi hasil tangkapan tuguk pada periode berbeda yang dioperasikan di Sungai Lempuing, Sumatera Selatan. Kegiatan penelitian dilaksanakan dengan metode survei pada periode musim peralihan penghujan sampai dengan kemarau (bulan April), musim kemarau (bulan Juni) dan musim penghujan (bulan Desember) tahun 2007. Komposisi jenis ikan dan hasil tangkapan diperoleh berdasarkan pada data pengambilan contoh pada saat ke lapangan dan data harian hasil tangkapan tuguk yang dicatat oleh 3 orang enumerator. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil tangkapan tuguk berbeda menurut periode waktu. Hasil tangkapan terdiri atas 11 jenis ikan untuk musim peralihan dan kemarau masing-masing berkisar 400-450 kg per unit per hari (rata-rata 411,2+14,1 kg per unit per hari) dan 250-300 kg per unit per hari (rata-rata 263,3+13,4 kg per unit per hari) dan 13 jenis ikan pada musim penghujan (bulan Desember) berkisar 700-750 kg per unit per hari (rata-rata 724,8+17,7 kg per unit per hari). Hasil tangkapan didominansi oleh jenis ikan lele (Clarias melanoderma) dan baung (Mystus nemurus). Selama penelitian, kandungan oksigen terlarut di perairan relatif rendah, berkisar 2-4 mg per l, namun dapat ditolelir oleh kelompok jenis ikan rawa (black fish). This research proposed to observed a catch composition and fluctuation of filtering device in different periods operated in the Lempuing River, South Sumatera. The research was conducted using survey method at a respective month of April (transition season), June (dry season) and December 07 (wet season). Fish composition and catch of tuguk were noted during survey and based on recording 3 enumerators. Descriptive analysis was used in this study. The results show that the catch of filtering device differed on diferent season periodes. A number of 11 fish species was caught at a respective season of transition season (April) of 400-450 kg per unit per day (average=411.2+14,1 kg per unit per day), dry season (June) of 250 300 kg per unit per day (average = 263,3+13,4 kg per unit per day), whilst at rainy season (December), fish catch composed of 13 fish species, ranging 700-750 kg per unit per day or (average = 724.8+17.7 kg per unit per day). Clarias melanoderma and Mystus nemurus were dominantly caught in the Lempuing River waters. During observation, dissolved oxygen content was relatively low (2-4 mg per l), that but could be tolerated by black fish.

Fish catch composition of some selected small scale fishing gears (gill net, cast net, beach seine and long line) were investigated in Bonny River, Rivers State, Nigeria from August 2014 to January 2015. A total number of 25 fish species from 18 families were recorded during the study. The Mugilidae with only one species constituted the dominant family while Cichlidae, Lutjanidae, Clupeidae, had three species and Scianidae had two species of fish caught and the remaining families had one species each. Mugil cephalus constituted 28.48% of the total catches followed by C. nigrodigitatus (22.48%). In the dry season M. cephalus forms the major component landings (32.65%), followed by C. nigrodigitatus (26.53%) and S. galilaeus (12.24%) while in the wet season M. cephalus (31.06%), C. nigrodigitatus (18.63%) and T. zillii (11.80%) were the dominant fish species. Cast net was the most efficient fishing gear while gill net was the least efficient. The comparison analysis between the wet and dry seasons using t-test showed no significant difference between dry and wet seasons (t = 0.092, P > 0.05).

We conducted an ichthyological survey during the dry season of 2006 on the semi-arid islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao to provide information on species composition, richness and distribution in natural and non-natural aquatic habitats. The dry season species assemblages (N = 9 species) comprised less species than the wet seasons, and these data refine our knowledge of the indigenous fish fauna and its refuge localities during phases of drought and ensuing high salinity. A hierarchical cluster analysis reveals that the three islands have different species compositions with Curaçao being the most diverse, probably due to its having the most habitats and freshwaters present throughout the year. Species richness was unrelated to salinity and species diversity was highest in canalised streams. In the dry season fewer amphidromous species are present than in the wet season. We found no significant effect of human-induced changes on the presence or absence of fish species in the Netherlands Antilles. The presence of exotic species (including Xiphophorus helleri on Aruba, a first record for this island, and Oreochromis mossambicus and Poecilia reticulata occurring on all three islands) did not have a clear effect on the presence of indigenous species, nor did human alteration of the habitats have an influence on the occurrence of fish species.

Construction of cascade dams has been shown to have impacts on fish assemblages and biodiversity. Yet, there is no literature on fish assemblages in the Murum River that connects the cascading Bakun and Murum dams in Sarawak, Malaysia. Hence, study on this modified ecosystem is necessitated to better understand the effects of the cascade dam construction on fish fauna. For this, fish samples were caught at five stations located along the river during both dry and wet seasons. Environmental parameters were taken concurrently with fish sampling. Length-weight relationship, condition factors, and diet composition of selected fish species in the river were also determined. The present study demonstrated that there are indications of the impact of cascading dams on the formation of a complex ecosystem in the Murum River, that is, changing from the shallow downstream of the Murum Dam to the deep transitional and inundated zone of the Bakun reservoir. The transitional zone in the Murum River exhibited the lowest fish species diversity, richness, and evenness during the dry season due to low pH and DO coupled with high turbidity. The biological indices improved when the water quality improved during the wet season. On the contrary, the diversity and evenness indices at the inundated tributary station decreased remarkably during the wet season, likely due to the migration of fish during the onset of the rainy season. This study showed that Barbonymus schwanenfeldii has a wider feeding habit which contributes to its higher distribution and abundance in the Murum River. The growth patterns of B. schwanenfeldii, Cyclocheilichthys apogon, Hampala macrolepidota, Lobocheilos ovalis, and Osteochilus enneaporos were better during wet than dry season. Overall, the condition factor of all native fish species in the Murum River was in poor to fair condition, whereas the exotic species, Oreochromis mossambicus, exhibited excellent condition (K value > 2) for both seasons. The increase in the number of O. mossambicus coupled with its high condition factor indicates biological intrusion and a potential threat to the native fish species in the Murum River. Continuous monitoring is essential to detect in-time risk issues associated with environmental degradation and biological invasion in this regulated and inundated river ecosystem.

Penelitian untuk mengetahui kualitas lingkungan perairan Sungai Musi bagian tengah dan hilir serta kelimpahan jenis ikan, telah dilakukan dari bulan April sampai dengan Oktober 2003. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode survei dengan menetapkan 15 stasiun pengamatan dari Sungai Musi bagian tengah sampai dengan hilir. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa dari hasil pemeriksaan parameter fisika kimia air secara umum perairan Sungai Musi bagian tengah sampai dengan hilir belum terlihat ada indikasi pencemaran. Kehidupan ikan di Sungai Musi bagian tengah sampai dengan hilir belum terlihat ada gangguan akibat pencemaran air. Jenis-jenis ikan yang dijumpai di sepanjang stasiun pengamatan terdapat sekitar 85 jenis yang didominansi oleh famili Cyprinidae. Penyebaran jenis ikan terkonsentrasi di Sungai Musi bagian tengah +- 75 jenis dan bagian hilir +- 58 jenis. A study to determine the water quality in the middle and lower parts of Musi River as well as its fish distribution was conducted from April until October 2003. Research was done under survey method by setting 15 stations in the middle and lower parts of Musi River. Results of the features of the physico chemical parameters showed that Musi River waters in the middle and lower parts were not polluted. There were 85 fish founded in the observed areas and they were dominated by family of cyprinidae. 75 fish species were distributed in the middle part of Musi River and 58 fish species were scattered in the lower.

Diversity of ichthyofauna of Feni and Muhuri rivers was studied from April, 2015 to March 2016. The selected rivers were surveyed to cover the wet season (April 2015-September 2015) and the dry season (October 2015-March 2016). A total of 65 freshwater fish species belonging to 11 orders, 29 families were recorded from the two rivers. Of the 65 species, 12 species were threatened, and one species was identified as data deficient according to IUCN Bangladesh. Perciformes was recorded as most dominating order (19 species, among the 54 species recorded) in Feni river, whereas the Cypriniformes was recorded as the dominating order (17 species among the 42 species recorded from this river) in Muhuri river. Corica soborna was the most common species with the highest number of individuals in comparison to other fish species recorded from two rivers in both wet and dry seasons. Calculating the Shannon-Weiner and Simpson’s indices of diversity and species evenness, highest number of species and individuals were found in the wet season while minimum in the dry season from both the rivers.Bangladesh J. Abstract. The tropical forests are Earth's largest source of biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOCs) and thus also the largest atmospheric sink region for the hydroxyl radical (OH). However, the OH sink above tropical forests is poorly understood, as past studies have revealed large unattributed fractions of total OH reactivity. We present the first total OH reactivity and volatile organic compound (VOC) measurements made at the Amazon Tall Tower Observatory (ATTO) at 80, 150, and 320 m above ground level, covering two dry seasons, one wet season, and one transition season in 2018–2019. By considering a wide range of previously unaccounted for VOCs, which we identified by proton transfer reaction time-of-flight mass spectrometry (PTR-ToF-MS), the unattributed fraction was with an overall average of 19 % within the measurement uncertainty of ∼ 35 %. In terms of seasonal average OH reactivity, isoprene accounted for 23 %–43 % of the total and oxygenated VOCs (OVOCs) for 22 %–40 %, while monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes, and green leaf volatiles combined were responsible for 9 %–14 %. These findings show that OVOCs were until now an underestimated contributor to the OH sink above the Amazon forest. By day, total OH reactivity decreased towards higher altitudes with strongest vertical gradients observed around noon during the dry season (−0.026 s−1 m−1), while the gradient was inverted at night. Seasonal differences in total OH reactivity were observed, with the lowest daytime average and standard deviation of 19.9 ± 6.2 s−1 during a wet–dry transition season with frequent precipitation; 23.7 ± 6.5 s−1 during the wet season; and the highest average OH reactivities during two dry-season observation periods with 28.1 ± 7.9 s−1 and 29.1 ± 10.8 s−1, respectively. The effects of different environmental parameters on the OH sink were investigated, and quantified, where possible. Precipitation caused short-term spikes in total OH reactivity, which were followed by below-normal OH reactivity for several hours. Biomass burning increased total OH reactivity by 2.7 to 9.5 s−1. We present a temperature-dependent parameterization of OH reactivity that could be applied in future models of the OH sink to further reduce our knowledge gaps in tropical-forest OH chemistry.

Sex ratio affects the growth of wild population, thus, with the declining wild fish population, the study was designed to determine the effect of seasons on the sex ratio of fish population from Ikere Gorge, Nigeria for 18 months. Fish composition, diversity, distribution and abundance were determined according to standard methods. Sexes were determined and sex ratio was calculated using a standard method. A total of 5,823 fish specimens were caught during the period. The captured fish species were identified and classified into 34 species belonging to 13 families. The species richness was higher in the dry months than in the wet months. Fish diversity indices and evenness revealed a better diverse and even ecosystem in the wet season than the dry season. A marked significant difference (p < 0.05) was observed between the species in the dry months than the wet season. Chrysichthyes nigrodigitatus (35.07±7.59a) was significantly (p < 0.05) more abundant than the other species in the dry season. The sex ratio was skewed in favour of the female populations for C. nigrodigitatus, Tilapia melanopleura and Sarotherodon galilaeus but the reverse was the case for L. niloticus population. No monthly variation was observed in sex ratio of the species. The fish fauna from Ikere Gorge showed marked variations in the catch composition between the dry and wet months. C. nigrodigitatus and the Cichlids (Hemichromis fasciatus, S. galilaeus, Tilapia macrocephla and T. melanopleura) were present all year.

The aim of his studi was to evaluate the fish fauna in Danau Cala in dry season, transition season, and the tide season. The survey was conducted 3 times on July 2013, October 2013 and January 2014 as representative of dry, transition and tide seasons. The fish sampling was conducted by gillnets and fish traps. A total of 35 fish species were recorded during the study; 23 species in dry season, it was dominated by tembakang fish (Helostoma temminckii) from family Helosmatidae, Sepat siam fish(Trichogaster pectoralis) from Belontiidae family, and snakehead fish (Channa striata) of Channidae family. A total of 16 species were recorded on transitional seasons where baung fish (Hemibagrus nemurus) of the family Bagridae, and seluang fish (Rasbora sp) of the family Cyprinidae were predominant. In addition, 15 fish species were recorded on tide season which was dominated by baung fish (Hemibagrus nemurus) and tendon fish (Mystus sabanus) of family Bagridae

Fish is a major source of protein in human diets. Fish demand has been on the increase due to increase in human population which has resulted to wide gap between fish demand and supply. This study was carried out to elucidate the major fish species that are economically important in the study area. Assessment of fish catch composition was done in the marine artisanal fish sector of Southwest Nigeria Gulf of Guinea. The study area was divided into three strata with one sampling station selected from each stratum. Four canoes were sampled per site per month. Fish catches were sorted into taxonomic categories, counted, measured and weighed. Sixty-nine fish species from forty-two families were identified constituting fifty-nine finfish and ten shellfish species. Clupeid family had the highest contribution both by weight (40.5%) and abundance (53.7%). Sardinella maderensis was the most abundant species by number (30.6%) and weight (27.9%). Parapenaeopsis atlanticus (51%) was the most abundant shellfish while P. validus (87%) was the highest by weight. Fish production was highest in Station 1 both by weight (37%) and abundance (41%). The status of finfish species showed that five species were very common; four were common, fourteen uncommon and thirty-six rare. Among the shellfish species, three species were very common, none was common, three were uncommon and three species rare. Effective management of these fish resources is necessary to ensure fish food security.

Fish species in catch and discard of trawl fisheries in and around Iskenderun Bay were examined within the fishing closure period and fishingperiod.The sampling was performed from May 2010 to January 2011 by a commercial trawl vessel.Chondricthyan species composed 49 % of discard catch biomass whileGymnura altavela and Dasyatis pastinacawere dominant in hauls. 27 lessepsian fish species were captured during the study,nine of them beingtarget species for trawl fisheries. In total, 14 of the lessepsian fish species were determined as discard species.In both sampling periods, Equulites klunzingeriand Citharus linguatula contributed to discard fish catch dissimilarity among depth ranges (deeper and shallower than 60 m). E. klunzingerishowed high abundance in discard catch.There were no significant differences in the distribution of the discard fish biomass between the sampling periods (ANOVA test, p>0.05). However, depth range pointed out significantdifferences in discard fish catch composition (p<0.05).Among major commercial fish species of trawl fisheries, Mullus surmuletus and Sparus aurata were not separated as discard in anyhaul by fishermen. Any size of these two species  were included in commercial catch (Total length ranged from 61 to 721 mm).
