Creating of courses timetable is an extremely difficult, time-consuming task and usually takes a long time. In many educational institutions, the courses schedule is developed manually. Schedule theory includes problems that are actually less complex than problems in practice, but theoretical analysis provides a fundamental understanding of the complexity of the schedule. The logical result is that the schedule is very difficult to build in practice due to many constraints [1]. Scheduling courses is a planning problem. In 1996, the problem of scheduling was described as the allocation of some resources with restrictions on a limited number of time intervals and at the same time to satisfy the set of stated objectives [2]. This is a general statement and is a common description of the courses timetabling creation problem. Schedule of courses is an important administrative activity in most educational institutions. The timetable problem is the distribution of classes by available audiences and time intervals, taking into account the constraints. We usually distinguish between two types of constraints: hard and soft. Hard constraints are compulsorily fulfilled by the educational institution. Decisions that do not violate hard constraints are called possible solutions. With the development of the general theory of the schedule, the approaches to the formalization and solution of the courses timetabling creation problem in educational institutions also changed. Currently, the problem of automation of the courses timetabling creation remains relevant. The urgency of the problem is determined by the growing requirements for the quality of education, student work planning, rational use of the audiences, as well as taking into account additional optimization parameters. The task of finding the optimal schedule of courses in most cases belongs to the class of complex problems. If we take into account the real conditions, the problem is even more complicated, because the desired solutions must meet numerous constraints of production, organizational and psychophysiological nature, which contradict each other. The genetic algorithm helps to efficiently search for optimal solutions in spaces with a very large dimension.

T.G. Shevchenko in Rybnitsa. The object of the study is the automation of the formation of the schedule of classrooms. The subject of the research is the implementation of a genetic algorithm as one of the adaptive search methods for solving functional optimization problems in order to automate the generation of a schedule. At the stage of the research of the subject area, the methodology of scheduling in universities was studied. There are not so many developments in the automation of scheduling tasks. This suggests that this task is relevant and unified approaches to its solution still does not exist. A new approach to the implementation of solving the problem of finding the optimal schedule was the application of an expert approach based on the use of a genetic algorithm. The authors describe the feasibility of using the genetic algorithm as one of the adaptive search methods for solving functional optimization problems in order to automate the formation of the schedule. Evaluating the work as a whole, it can be argued that the practical significance and prospects of development of this research direction is obvious.

SQL Server Reporting Services is a way to analyze data, create reports using the indicators and gauges. Indicators are minimal gauges that convey the state of a single data value at a glance, and most are used to represent the state of Key Performance Indicators. Manage and harmonize the performance of an institution's educational institutions, especially universities with the performance of individuals or resources, no doubt is one of the essential elements for the success of an entity of the institution. Integrate the performance of an educational institution with individual performance is not an easy process, and therefore required a systematic approach to manage it. Implementation of a strategic management system based Balanced Scorecard can be used as a performance measurement system that will continuously monitor the successful implementation of the strategy of any public educational institution and measure the performance of its resources in a comprehensive and balanced, not the quantity but the emphasis is more concerned with the quality, so the performance of educational institutions at any time can be known clearly. Contribution of Key Performance Indicators to manage and harmonize the performance of any public institution is a solution in providing information to realize the extent of work that has set targets, identify and monitor measures of success, of course, with performance indicators show a clear, specific and measurable.

Though many techniques were proposed for the optimization of Permutation Flow-Shop Scheduling Problem (PFSSP), current techniques only provide a single optimal schedule. Therefore, a new algorithm is proposed, by combining the k-means clustering algorithm and Genetic Algorithm (GA), for the multimodal optimization of PFSSP. In the proposed algorithm, the k-means clustering algorithm is first utilized to cluster the individuals of every generation into different clusters, based on some machine-sequence-related features. Next, the operators of GA are applied to the individuals belonging to the same cluster to find multiple global optima. Unlike standard GA, where all individuals belong to the same cluster, in the proposed approach, these are split into multiple clusters and the crossover operator is restricted to the individuals belonging to the same cluster. Doing so, enabled the proposed algorithm to potentially find multiple global optima in each cluster. The performance of the proposed algorithm was evaluated by its application to the multimodal optimization of benchmark PFSSP. The results obtained were also compared to the results obtained when other niching techniques such as clearing method, sharing fitness, and a hybrid of the proposed approach and sharing fitness were used. The results of the case studies showed that the proposed algorithm was able to consistently converge to better optimal solutions than the other three algorithms.

The motion planning problem of a nonholonomic multibody system is investigated. Nonholonomicity arises in many mechanical systems subject to nonintegrable velocity constraints or nonintegrable conservation laws. When the total angular momentum is zero, the control problem of system can be converted to the motion planning problem for a driftless control system. In this paper, we propose an optimal control approach for nonholonomic motion planning. The genetic algorithm is used to optimize the performance of motion planning to connect the initial and final configurations and to generate a feasible trajectory for a nonholonomic system. The feasible trajectory and its control inputs are searched through a genetic algorithm. The effectiveness of the genetic algorithm is demonstrated by numerical simulation.

The defining role of analytical research of personnel training processes for the transport industry is indicated. In particular, the possibility of using the vicious Knall’s circles to identify problems in the development of transport education is investigated. The traditional functionality of the Knall’s circles has been expanded to the study of the mechanisms of positive development of the research object. Two types of models for describing these processes are proposed and analyzed, taking into account both additive and multiplicative effects of development. Using concrete examples, the methodology for constructing various types of process models, selecting the optimal type of model and predicting development is shown. A systematic approach to the study of transport education is also proposed to be implemented using the tools of cenological analysis, which takes into account all participants in the personnel training system in the industry. The scientific and educational values of transport education allow us to determine the completeness and stability of the educational system, the direction of development (degradation, positive development of the system), the role and place of an individual educational institution in the personnel training system. The cytological study is illustrated by the example of the analysis of the results of the activities of branch railway universities. Scientific and educational self-regulating organizations for training specialists for the regional transport system are considered as one of the mechanisms for managing transport education. It is proposed to create self-regulating organizations of personnel training that regulate the activities of educational institutions, both among themselves and with consumers of educational services.

Purpose This paper aims to identify and model the key barriers to implementation of project-based learning (PjBL) in higher educational institution. Design/methodology/approach Using the interpretive structural modelling (ISM) technique, the study has developed a hierarchical-based model, depicting the mutual relationships amongst the key barriers to implementation of PjBL. Additionally, the paper has performed Matrice d’ Impacts Croises Multiplication Appliqué an Classement (MICMAC) analysis to categorize the barriers in terms of their driving and dependence power. Findings The study has identified the key barriers to implementation of PjBL and presented an integrated model using ISM. Higher educational institutions need to pay attention to diagnose and overcome these hindrances for effective implementation of PjBL in their programmes. Research limitations/implications The study adopts a systematic way to model the relevant barriers to implementation of PjBL. The ISM-based model would help higher education institutions to prioritize the issues as the barriers are hierarchically structured. As the input to model development is based on the experts’ opinions, it may be biased, influencing the final output of the structural model. Originality/value The presentation of PjBL implementation barriers in the form of an ISM-based model is a new effort. The model would be useful to understand the barriers and overcome these for the successful implementation of PjBL in higher educational institutions.
