Drug use in our society seems to be a growing concern. Hence the concern of the ES/CICAD and CAMH to sponsor Multicentric Research projects for which this is one. This study therefore sought to determine gender differences for peer influence on drug use among students from one university in Guyana. A survey was applied to 263 university students selected by a purposive sampling. Mean, percentage, cross-tab, t- test and Spearman correlation were used for data analysis. Drug use by male and female participants was minimal. Gender was not significantly different in the level of peer influence. But it was significantly different in the use of illicit drug and in its association with the relationship between peer influence and drug use. The result of this study had curriculum implications. Based on the sampling technique, it was recommended that a similar study be carried out in a wider community outside of the university.

ABSTRACTLecturers are the basic foundation for delivering knowledge and knowledge at the university level. Lecturers face various college tridharma tasks that have the potential to create work stress. This study analyzes the relationship between work stress and lecturer performance. It is important to understand and cultivate work stress because of its impact on mental as well as individual physical health. The subject of this research is 49 lecturers in 49 universities in the scope of Kopertis Region VII. Sampling technique using accidental sampling. Data analysis technique using Rank Spearman correlation test. The result of research mentioned that the variable of work stress and lecturer's performance have the opposite or negative and strong enough relationship.Keywords: job stress, lecturer performanceABSTRAKDosen adalah pondasi dasar untuk menyampaikan ilmu dan pengetahuan di tingkat perguruan tinggi. Hal yang penting untuk mengerti dan mengolah stres kerja karena dampaknya terhadap mental dan juga kesehatan fisik individu. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 49 dosen di 49 perguruan tinggi di lingkup Kopertis Wilayah VII. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan accidential sampling. Teknik analisis data dengan menggunakan uji korelasi Rank Spearman. Hasil penelitian menyebutkan bahwa variabel stres kerja dan kinerja dosen memiliki hubungan yang berlawanan atau negatif dan cukup kuat.Kata – kata kunci : stres kerja, kinerja dosen

The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship among Narcissism, personality traits and conspicuous consumption of brands in youth. This used quantitative research design with a sample consisting of 50 Men and 50 Women. The age ranged between 18 – 22 years. A purposive sampling technique was used to select participants. The findings revealed that there was a relationship among conspicuous consumption and traits of personality. It was also uncovered that there are gender differences in conspicuous consumption of brands, narcissism and personality traits. Further it was concluded that narcissism is positively associated with conspicuous consumption of brands. Narcissism was likely to be a positive predictor of conspicuous consumption of brands and personality traits are likely to be a predictor of conspicuous consumption of brands.

This empirical study aims at assessing the attitudes, perception and intention of university students towards entrepreneurship and new venture creation with a focus on gender differences in entrepreneurial perceptions and intentions to start new business in the future. Data were collected using a questionnaire-based survey of 350 students at the University of Khartoum in Sudan. The target population was the students in the final year in the University of Khartoum. The stratified sampling technique was used to select the sample size because the population consisted of a number of subgroups that differed in their characteristics. The results showed significant differences between genders in entrepreneurial intentions and its antecedents. Thus, it is important that customized approaches based on gender are needed for developing entrepreneurial intentions among college students.

This chapter presents the relationship and impact of employee empowerment on organizational trust. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between employee empowerment and organizational trust in the IT industry. This study examines the difference between the empowerment level and organizational level of male and female employees. The questionnaire employed in this study consisted of empowerment by A. K. Mishra and G. M. Spreitzer and organizational trust variables by P. Mishra. The sample for the study consisted of 475 IT professionals from five IT organizations. Simple random sampling was used as a sampling technique, and this study was an ex-post in nature. Data were analyzed using t-test, correlation, and multiple regression. The result revealed that employee empowerment had a positive and significant impact on organizational trust. There is no significant difference in the empowerment of IT industry employees. It means that both male and female employees were equally empowered in their jobs. Male employees are more trust in their jobs as compared to female employees.

The study aims at studying gender differences in the ways male and female students take turns and participate in a mixed-gender classroom. Two groups of first-year English compulsory classes held at two different departments (Geography and Economics) at the University of Karachi took part in the study. The results revealed that in the Geography Department, where there was a female teacher, male students were more dominating as compared to the female students who hardly participated in the class. They took more turns and participated better in the classroom discussion. In addition, they also interrupted the teacher and the female counterparts when they tried to contribute to the discussion. On the other hand, at the Department of Economics, female students had more number of turns. They dominated the classroom as compared to the male students. Besides, the study revealed that the gender of the teacher played an important part in shaping the discourse taking place in the classroom.

Although some attention has been given to student issues at university, the literature on the relationship between social connectedness, achievement motivation and emotional-social learning with student adjustment is relatively limited. Therefore, this study investigates the impact of social connectedness, achievement motivation and emotional-social learning upon the adjustment of students in a university context. In addition, this study looks into the differences in achievement motivation and emotional-social learning levels between the genders. The sample comprised 240 university students, both male and female. According to the findings, the relationship between the study variables does not significantly differ between genders. Emotional-social learning is significant in terms of predicting the adjustment. Furthermore, gender differences were noted in terms of emotional-social learning levels, but not in terms of achievement motivation and social connectedness. The study explores implications of the significance of emotional-social learning in the university environment and makes recommendations in light of these implications.

In the last years, the attention to the role of gender in physiopathology and pharmacology of diseases in several medical disciplines is rising; however, the data on the relationship between gender and audio-vestibular disorders are still inconclusive and sometimes confusing. With this letter to the editor, we would like to review the role of gender in audio-vestibular disorders. Literature data show that anatomic variances of the inner ear do exist in men and women and that the different physiology and/or hormonal influence between genders could produce different clinical outcome of routine audiological and vestibular tests. Beyond the epidemiological gender-related differences, the clinical data suggest that the gender has a potential role as an etiopathogenetic factor in audio-vestibular disorders and it is probably responsible for the different clinical features observed between male and female subjects.

This study uses data from the Serious and Violent Offender Reentry Initiative (SVORI) to examine the effects of social support and stressors on self-reported illicit drug use among 1,074 recently released individuals (men = 874; women = 200). Three broad conclusions can be drawn from these findings: (a) Men were more likely than women to use drugs in the first 3 months following release from prison; (b) mental health and neighborhood quality were universal predictors of drug use in early reentry; and (c) social support, stressors, and individual and legal characteristics affected drug use for men and women differently. This work fills knowledge gaps related to the intersection of reentry, gender, and drug use within the context of correctional policy and practice.

This study aims to examine the relationship between loneliness and selfie-liking. The hypothesis of this research is that there is a positive relationship between loneliness and selfie-liking among college students. This research used correlational quantitative methods. Participants in this research was 64 students, which was taken by purposive sampling technique, with inclusive criteria: like to do selfie and in the last month post the selfie photos to social media as much as 4-6 times. Data were collected using the Loneliness Scale from UCLA Version 3 and selfie-liking measured by Selfie-Liking Scale.  The correlation was analyzed using the Spearman Correlation Test with SPSS 23 for Windows. The results showed there was a positive and significant relationship between loneliness and self-liking (r=.297; p=.009) which means the higher loneliness, the higher selfie-liking.
