ABSTRACT Irrigated fruit growing in the São Francisco Valley has been standing out in the Northeast region of Brazil and the incorrect management of fertilization has caused problems of physical and / or chemical degradation of the soil. The work aimed to evaluate the spatial variability of the chemical attributes of a Latossolo Vermelho-Amarelo (Oxisol) grown with banana (Musa spp). The study was carried out in the irrigated perimeter of Nupeba in Riachão das Neves / BA. In an area cultivated for 18 years with silver banana fertigated by micro sprinkling. In April 2017 simple soil samples were collected at depths of 0 -0.20 m and 0.20 -0.40 m, from an experimental grid consisting of 40 georeferenced points and spaced every 10 meters. The soil samples determined: pH (H2O); Organic carbon; Phosphorus (P); Potassium (K+); Calcium (Ca2+); Magnesium (Mg2+) and Potential acidity (H + Al) and the sum of bases (BS), cation exchange capacity (CEC) and base saturation (V%) were calculated. The results of the analyses were evaluated using descriptive statistics and the geostatistics technique. The descriptive analysis identified the normality of the data. The spatial variability was confirmed, allowing the making of maps. The analyzed area has low fertility (V <55%) and the inadequate management of soil correction and fertilization can reduce the availability of nutrients for the implanted crop, making the soil susceptible to degradation with the use of irrigation. The distribution maps allow the visualization of the area, allowing the application of inputs with varying rates, aiming at homogenizing the soil fertility.

Abstract: The objective of this study was to evaluate the spatial variability in soybean seeds quality and in soil chemical attributes of a production field. Data were collected at 138 georeferenced points of a soybean production property located in Santo Antônio de Leverger - MT. Soil related variables, such as phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and organic matter (OM) contents, pH, cation exchange capacity (CEC) and base saturation (V%) were evaluated. On the other hand, yield, one thousand seed mass, size, germination, emergence in seedbed, electrical conductivity, accelerated aging and tetrazolium reaction were evaluated as seed variables. The data were submitted to descriptive and geostatistical analysis, and the fit semivariogram parameters were used to elaborate spatial distribution maps of the analyzed variables. After the analysis, it was possible to conclude that there was spatial variability in the evaluated attributes for both seeds and soil related variables, indicating that the soybean seed production area can be divided into management zones, which allows the definition of areas to be harvested or discarded within a field of seed production.

Soils with small variations in relief and under the same management system present differentiated spatial variabilities of their attributes. This variability is a function of soil position in the landscape, even if the relief has little expression. The aim of this work was to investigate the effects of relief shape and depth on spatial variability of soil chemical attributes in a Typic Hapludox cultivated with sugar cane at two landscape compartments. Soil samples were collected in the intercrossing points of a grid, in the traffic line, at 0-0.2 m and 0.6-0.8 m depths, comprising a set of 100 georeferenced points. The spatial variabilities of pH, P, K, Ca, Mg, cation exchange capacity and base saturation were quantified. Small relief shape variations lead to differentiated variability in soil chemical attributes as indicated by the dependence on pedoform found for chemical attributes at both 0-0.2 m and 0.6-0.8 m depths. Because of the higher variability, it is advisable to collect large number of samples in areas with concave and convex shapes. Combining relief shapes and geostatistics allows the determination of areas with different spatial variability for soil chemical attributes.

Abstract The objective of this work was to evaluate the use of magnetic susceptibility for characterizing the spatial variability of soil attributes and identifying areas with different potentials for sugarcane (Saccharum spp.) production. Samples were collected at 110 points (1 per 7 ha) in the layers of 0.00-0.20 and 0.20-0.40 m, to determine the magnetic susceptibility and physical and chemical attributes of the soil. Fiber content, sucrose polarization (POL), and sugarcane yield were determined in 33 points. The spatial variability model for magnetic susceptibility was 63 and 22% more accurate in delimiting soil potential for sugarcane production than soil physical and chemical attributes at the 0.0-0.2 and 0.2-0.4-m layers, respectively. The spatial variability map for magnetic susceptibility was strongly correlated with clay (0.83 and 0.89, respectively, for the layers) and sand contents (-0.84 and -0.88); moderately correlated with organic matter (-0.25 and -0.35), sum of bases (-0.46 and 0.37), cation exchange capacity (0.22 and 0.47), pH (-0.52 and 0.13), and POL (0.43 and 0.53); and weakly correlated with sugarcane yield (0.26 and 0.23). Magnetic susceptibility can be used to characterize the spatial variability of soil attributes and to identify areas with different potentials for sugarcane production.

AbstractConsidering the lack of information about spatial behavior of the soil attributes in areas of archaeological black earth and native forest, the objective of this study was to evaluate the spatial variability of chemical attributes and determine the sampling density in soil with archaeological black earth and native forest in the region of Manicoré, AM. The study was conducted in a rural property located in the community of Santo Antônio do Matupi, at the margins of BR 230, Trans-amazon highway, in the region of Manicoré, AM. In these areas were established grids of 70 m x 70 m, with regular spacing of 10 x 10 m, totaling 64 points, then soil samples were collected at a depth of 0.0-0.20 m and 0 , 40 - 0,60 m. Chemical attributes were determined (pH, OM, P, K, Ca, Mg, SB, CTC, V% and H + Al). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques and geostatistics. Sampling density was determined basing on CV and on the range of the semivariograms. It was verified that the studied attributes showed spatial variability and the area of archaeological black earth presented greater spatial variability than the native forest. Its greater sampling density was determined basing on the range of the adjusted semivariograms.Keywords: Indian black earth; attributes of soil; geostatistics.

Soils submitted to the same management system in places with little variation of landscape, manifest differentiated spatial variability of their attributes and crop yield. The aim of this work was to investigate the correlation between spatial variability of the soil attributes and sugarcane yield as a result of soil topography. To achieve this objective, a test area of 42 ha located at the São João Sugar Mill, in Araras, in the State of São Paulo, Brazil, was selected. Sugarcane yield was measured with a yield monitor fitted in a sugarcane harvester and GPS signal. A total of 170 soil samples were taken at regular 50 m grid, at a depth of 0 - 0.2 m. The area under study was divided into two sites based on topography. The following soil attributes were analysed: organic matter (OM) content, exchangeable potassium (K), calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg), their base saturation percentage (%BS), cation exchange capacity (CEC), pH, clay, silt, total sand and density. The use of landscape and geostatistics enable defining areas with different spatial variability in soil attributes and crop yield, providing the visualization and definition of homogeneous management zones. The largest spatial variability of soil attributes and sugarcane yield was in the lowest part of the field.

Twelve profile pits were sunk, four in each of the three locations of Bukuru, the study area. Proper soil profile description was done and recorded to obtain field characterization data after which thirty-six soil samples were collected from all the genetic horizons for soil characterization. Bukuru soils showed higher sand fraction (71%) than silt (12%) and clay (17%) at the topsoil but showed increased clay content at the subsoil. While Gyel and Fwarti locations soils were sandy loam, Rabi location soil was sandy clay loam. Soil pH, Organic carbon (Org. C), Total Nitrogen (Total N), and Available phosphorus (Avail. P) were 6.2, 6.3 gkg- 1, 1.9 gkg-1 and 4.82 mgkg-1respectively and were graded low. Exchangeable bases were dominated by Ca2+ and Mg2+. Sodium (Na+), Potassium (K+), Cal- cium (Ca) and Magnesium (Mg) were 0.24 cmolkg-1, 0.06 cmolkg-1, 15.7 cmolkg-1 and 2.60 cmolkg-1 respectively. While Na+ and K+ were graded low, Ca2+ and Mg2+ were graded high. Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC) was 18.82 cmolkg-1, and was graded high. All the soil samples analysed showed high per- centage base saturation (PBS), above 90%. The low values of Org. C, Total N, Na and K and the characteristic sandiness of Bukuru soils in the surface horizon indicated the low fertility status of Bukuru soils. Bukuru soils were classified using the Keys to Soil taxonomy of the USDA as “Typic isothermic kandic us- talfs”. This was correlated to “Lixisols” in the World Reference Base (WRB) of FAO at a higher level and "Rhodic/Chromic" as a principal qualifier. .

This study characterized the morphological, physical and chemical attributes of sandstone-derived soils at the Cerrado of the Piauí State, Brazil, in order to identify evolutionary standards. The study was carried out with five representative soil profiles identified as P1-RY (Typical Flavic Psychotic Neosol - Aquents), P2-PA (Typical Dystrophic Yellow Argisol - Alfisol), P3-RL (Fragmentary Litholic Distrophic Neosol - Psammenit), P4-RQ (Typical Ortic Quartzenetic Neosol - Orthents) and P5-PV (Typical Dystrophic Red Argisol - Ultisol). Soil samples were submitted laboratory analysis described morphologically. In general, the soils presented high sand content, low pH, low content of exchangeable bases and low cation exchange capacity (CEC). Organic matter governed the CEC in most cases, suggesting dependence of organic matter in the supply of charges. These soils showed a low degree of weathering, but with iron of high crystallinity. Thus, the relief and the parent material are the major important soil-forming factors at the Cerrado of the Piauí State. Moreover, these soils are young, with the soils from the Piauí Formation being more evolved. However, the sandstones from the Canindé Group apparently are providing lithological secondary minerals for the soil.

Soils of the Low Ganges River Floodplain encroaching Faridpur district of Bangladesh have immense contribution to crop production, while little information available focusing the spatial variability of trace elements in the area. Therefore, the study was conducted to quantify the trace elements collecting a total of 122 representative soil samples from rice fields of Faridpur district. Soil samples were analyzed and found that Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn and B were ranged from 0.80-6.80, 24–295, 10–129, 0.12–2.20 and 0.5-9.05 ppm, respectively. The pollution indexes are noteworthy features which revealed that only Mn may exhibit a risk for environmental pollution. The concentrations of trace elements, pH and organic carbon in soils displayed a significant spatial diversity because of anthropogenic and geogenic contribution. The distribution maps of soil pH, organic carbon and trace elements might be useful to farmers, researchers and planners in designing and planning agricultural programs in the study area.J. Environ. Information on spatial variability of soil chemical properties is allowing an increasingly efficient management of soil fertility. This study was conducted in the municipality of Santa Rosa do Tocantins, TO, in the 2018/2019 crop year. The objectives of the study were to characterize the spatial variability of chemical properties of a dystrophic Red Latosol in the Cerrado of Tocantins using geostatistics and optimize the management of soil fertility by means of precision agronomy techniques, for more efficient input use in agricultural production areas. For the experiment, 49 soil samples were collected at 0.2 m depth, from equidistant points in a regular grid 100 m apart, over an area of ??150 ha. Each sample was composed of 5 subsamples. The soil properties evaluated included pH, bases sum, potential acidity, organic matter, total cation exchange capacity, base saturation, phosphorus, sulfur, potassium, calcium, magnesium, boron, copper, iron, manganese, and zinc. A descriptive analysis was carried out, highlighting the mean, median, minimum, and maximum values for each soil variable. In addition, the coefficients of variation, asymmetry, kurtosis, and the normality test of Kolmogorov-Smirnov were performed. The area presented significant variations in chemical and macronutrient attributes and little variation in micronutrients, except for zinc. The study reveals variations in different soil attributes and the need for correction depending on the requirements of the crop.

The bacteriosis and moko of plantain are ones of the most important phytosanitary problems in the production of musaceae in Colombia. To contribute to the management of these diseases in the department of Cundinamarca, soils and foliar tissues were analyzed, as well as the symptoms of the diseases in 149 farms of producers in the municipalities of Chaguani, La Palma, La Vega, and Viota (Cundinamarca). A descriptive analysis of the chemical properties of soils and foliar concentration of nutrients was carried out; the Student-Welch t-test was applied (P<0.05); the distribution patterns of the diseases were represented cartographically. According to the results obtained, the sampled soils are not saline, they have extreme to strong acidity, low effective cation exchange capacity and low fertility; meanwhile plants show a deficit of elements such as nitrogen, phosphorus, sulfur, copper, zinc, and boron. Considering the total number of farms evaluated, the incidence of bacteriosis and moko disease was reported in 63 and 14% at the departmental level, respectively. A higher concentration of sulfur and zinc was observed in farm soils free of both diseases. Finally, plants reported as free of bacteriosis showed a higher concentration of potassium and lower concentrations of calcium and manganese; while plants reported as free of moko disease showed higher concentrations of nitrogen, sodium, and copper, and a lower concentration of calcium. The results obtained contribute to the planning of large-scale management strategies, in order to reduce the risk of dissemination of diseases of economic importance for plantain crop.
