This study is to investigate the effects of general English class instructional pedagogy through movies on college students’ cognitive and affective satisfaction. For the purposes of the study, conventional pedagogy(language-driven) and film pedagogy(content-driven) were employed with 146 college students enrolled in the Movie English Liberal Arts class at K university in Seoul. To find out the pure causal effects of conventional and film pedagogy on students’ cognitive and affective satisfaction, other confounding co-variants were included in the research model and statistically controlled. The AMOS software was applied to analyze structural relationships based on participants’ questionnaire data. The main research findings are as follows: first, conventional pedagogy and film pedagogy had statistically significant effects on students’ cognitive satisfaction; second, conventional pedagogy and film pedagogy had statistically significant effects on students’ affective satisfaction; third, in both cognitive and affective satisfaction, film pedagogy had larger standardized path coefficients than conventional pedagogy. These results suggest that, first, in terms of its role as an instructional method, Movie English helped students improve not only English knowledge but also confidence. Second, to teach English through movies, film pedagogy integrated with conventional pedagogy is necessary. Finally, pedagogical implications and future studies are discussed.

The current study examines perceived hunger, which may result from food insecurity, and its effect on academic and athletic performance in students on a liberal arts college campus in New Hampshire. It also examines how students compensate for hunger and their preferences for different types of resources to address hunger. A review of the literature on food insecurity in college students informed the development of a questionnaire on hunger. A mixed-method approach was used to collect qualitative/quantitative data from students of different disciplines. Three hundred and seventy-one students had complete surveys. Thirty-six percent and 34% of students reported that their academic and/or athletic performance, respectively, had been affected by hunger. Forty-seven percent of students responded they would consider taking advantage of an on-campus food pantry. In an open-ended question, students reported concerns about the social stigma related to economic instability and utilizing a food pantry. Our research findings support many on-campus initiatives including the creation of a student-run on-campus food pantry, longer dining common hours, a Swipe It Forward program, and the creation of a task force to address food insecurity on campus and to work with college systems to develop opportunities to better serve students at the college.

Background/Objectives: The purpose of this study is to find out the structural relationships among customer delight, exercise commitment, and psychological happiness to contribute developing exercise Apps. Methods/Statistical analysis: A questionnaire survey was conducted and 160 college students who are familiar with mobile exercise applications participated. The data analyzed with frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and structural correlation analysis. The validity and the reliability were obtained: customer delight (χ2=26.532, df=14, CFI=.985, TLI=.971, RMSEA=.075), exercise commitment (χ2=113.802, df=49, CFI=.956, TLI=.941, RMSEA=.091), and psychological happiness (χ2=15.338, df=8, CFI=.989, TLI=.980, RMSEA=.076, and Cronbach’s α=.906~.938).

The aim of this research is to investigate whether there is a meaningful difference in the academic success, between the students who are applied the "formula t-shirt method" (experimental group) and the students who are not (in other classes of the school), in the education for the scientists wanted to be taught in the secondary school 5th, 6th and 7th grade science textbooks. Semi-experimental method was used as research method. In the 6th grade, 27 students participated in this study as experimental group (students wearing t-shirts) and 49 students in the other classes of the school that did not participate in the study. Academic achievement test including pre-test and post-test, informative observations, students’ and teacher’s interviews as well as 20 printed t-shirts were used to collect data. The pilot study of the developed achievement test was applied in another school and also the item analysis of it was performed. According to the research findings, when the experimental group’s success post-test results from the application performed, were examined in line with the interviews, significant differences were observed. It was seen that the subjects aimed to be gained with the formula t-shirt method, were adopted by the students and also increased their success. Looking at the results of the research, thanks to wearing the t-shirts prepared by using the human body on the background, and the reconciliation of the students wearing with the scientists on t-shirts, the desired learning was provided. This also contributed to such learning techniques as peer learning, active learning, social learning in terms of visuality and integrity. It is thought that these materials developed with the formula t-shirt method, will also inspire researchers for future studies in terms of their usability in other fields and subjects

The article summarizes the key points in the development of the metadialogue phenomenon from a linguistic point of view. Some stages of the development of this concept and the difficulties associated with its structuring are covered. The main research findings of modern foreign and domestic experts on its study are considered. Some characteristics of the subject of the research from the standpoint of various pragmatic installations are given. On the basis of the dynamic structure of the metadialogue development, certain principles of semantic relations connected with the dialectical nature of human cognition are presented. Excursion into the history and evolution of the concept is presented. Several types of formulation of the subject matter are given. In accordance with the goal of speech exposure, internal problems of the development of metadialogue are highlighted and the critical points related to solving these problems are described. The rules of metadialogue flow are explained at the level of steps, the success/failure of which directly affects the final result of communication. The prospects of development of the concept research in accordance with various types of discourse are indicated.

When suicidal behavior is reported, student affairs officers on many campuses notify parents as one component of a multifaceted campus suicide prevention plan. In response to proposals to mandate parent notification, the author argues that practical considerations warrant against expanding state laws to require notification following campus suicide attempts. The recent experience with parent notice at one university confirms the work of earlier researchers who concluded that parents rarely withdraw suicidal students from enrollment. Although a policy of sending the letters may deter further episodes of selfdestructive behavior, parents once alerted to the situation are not likely to intervene in a manner that will reduce significantly the risk of suicide.

Numerous studies have been conducted by researchers on the delay analysis topic, which is one of the primary areas of scientific study due to the effects of delays on time and cost in construction projects. Following fruitful contributions made by the researchers, it is believed to be extremely important to summarize the existing studies in terms of being a road map for future studies and practitioners. In this context, not only does this study aim to detect the most significant authors, sources, organizations and countries contributing to the improvement of delay domain in the construction industry concerning delay analyses worldwide but also to provide the researchers with extensive insights concerning the prominent research themes, trends and gaps in the literature. Hence, 168 documents related to delay analyses from 1982 to 11 February 2021 were detected through the Scopus Database and the Web of Science Database, and scientometric analyses were conducted via VOSviewer software. By evaluating the related research, two main research areas were detected in this field, namely; improving the delay analysis methods and resolving the disputes before they occur. This study is believed to make theoretical and practical contributions in that it examines the delay analysis topic in all aspects such as prominent institutions, countries, authors and sources, synthesizes the data and highlights possible research domains, gaps and trends concerning the delay analysis topic in construction industry.

Interactions with adults may play a crucial role in youths’ religious identity development. However, who these adults are and how they are influential is under explored. Twelve Catholic and twelve former Catholic college students were interviewed about their experiences growing up Catholic focusing on influential adults. Interviews were analyzed using modified grounded theory. Adult type categories were identified. Implications and future studies are discussed.

Although multiple organizational-level databases are frequently combined into one data set, there is no overview of the matching methods (MMs) that are utilized because the vast majority of studies does not report how this was done. Furthermore, it is unclear what the differences are between the utilized methods, and it is unclear whether research findings might be influenced by the utilized method. This article describes four commonly used methods for matching databases and potential issues. An empirical comparison of those methods used to combine regularly used organizational-level databases reveals large differences in the number of observations obtained. Furthermore, empirical analyses of these different methods reveal that several of them produce both systematic and random errors. These errors can result in erroneous estimations of regression coefficients in terms of direction and/or size as well as an issue where truly significant relationships might be found to be insignificant. This shows that research findings can be influenced by the MM used, which would argue in favor of the establishment of a preferred method as well as more transparency on the utilized method in future studies. This article provides insight into the matching process and methods, suggests a preferred method, and should aid researchers, reviewers, and editors with both combining multiple databases and describing and assessing them.
