The development of resource methodology and soft computing in this paper is presented as a new direction of ontological design. The objects of air transport organizations are chosen as the applied area: a company, a social group, an individual. The existing understanding of re-sources is related to the concepts of consumption. The problem is that the category of re-sources is not identified and does not have a humanitarian study, primarily in logic, philosophy, and philology. The known classifications and types of resources are numerous, diverse, and mutually irreducible. A new understanding and logical elaboration of the "resource" category is proposed. The resource methodology offers its own bases and sources. The theoretical foundations are formed in the following content: principles, hypotheses, language, terms, conditions, and procedures. This content allows you to generate output of key definitions. Re-source design (modeling) is based on the concept of a resource model. Resource modeling can be defined as displaying object property parameters from a specified definition area to the area of indicator values. The proposed hypotheses of resource modeling consistency postulate that natural language tools: words, concepts, names, vocabulary, grammar, syntax, used in relations to describe objects, can be transformed into formal models that are suitable for subsequent calculations and automated management. Relations are displayed in the pseudo-physical logic of statements, which allows us to assign numbers to observable objects of non-numeric nature. Analogs of systemology are used to develop principles, conditions, and procedures for design and modeling. The basis of resource design is a formal resource model, on the basis of which elements are formed: complexes of contours, tuples of resources. Thus, the resource method al-lows us to assign numbers to the properties of objects in weak non-metric scales by shifting the assessment procedures to the area of strong metric scales, which establishes new combinations of applying qualitative and quantitative methods of research and development. A sample of practical resource design and modeling of objects in the subject area is presented on the example of the air transport complex.

The article considers the history of formation of qualitative and quantitative methodological approaches in sociology. The  historical reconstruction of the fundamental ideas of representatives of these areas makes it possible to better understand their relationship, to determine the possibilities of their interaction in the study of social reality. In this regard, the article analyses the qualitative and quantitative strategy of sociological research taking into account their ontological, epistemological, axiological and methodological principles. A meaningful analysis of the three «waves», the stages of sociological cognition makes it possible to understand the specifics of the development of sociological knowledge, determine central ideas and values, and better understand the dynamics of the interaction of existing approaches and paradigms. Qualitative and quantitative methodological approaches in social sciences arose almost simultaneously, but their further development was extremely uneven, and their use to study and explain social reality for a long time was not based on the principles of parity interaction. The expansion of the practice of sociological research in a situation of high dynamics of social processes made it possible to increase the level of research culture, the understanding of values and cognitive differences in qualitative and quantitative methodologies made it possible and necessary to use them together. The basis for combining qualitative and quantitative methodological approaches is their functional additionality, which is expressed in the ability to most fully represent various aspects of the study of the same subject area. We are talking about methodological, conceptual triangulation as a strategy for the interaction of qualitative and quantitative approaches in the study of social problems using qualitative and quantitative methods for collecting and analysing sociological information. Such a technique increases the completeness and reliability of the received information, expands research capabilities.

A multimethod investigation of the integration of CAI into the curriculum for mildly handicapped high school students is being conducted. The research incorporates both qualitative and quantitative methods. The research design is based on an understanding that decisions, actions, and resources at different organizational levels within the school district affect the ways computers are used in resource rooms, regular classes, and computer labs. A theory-driven, structural model is being evaluated through case studies and formal observations of CAI implementation. Findings are being used formatively during Phase I of the investigation to support development of a model of effective practices that will be replicated and refined during Phase II. Preliminary findings from initial case studies in two school districts support efforts to identify, model, and refine practices in four areas: needs assessment procedures, software selection, inservice training and technical assistance, and school communications mechanisms. A special feature of the on-going study is the nature and extent of collaboration between the researchers and local school staff.

This article refers to a study in Tanzania on fringe benefits or welfare via the work contract1 where we will work both quantitatively and qualitatively. My focus is on the vital issue of combining methods or methodologies. There has been mixed views on the uses of triangulation in researches. Some authors argue that triangulation is just for increasing the wider and deep understanding of the study phenomenon, while others have argued that triangulation is actually used to increase the study accuracy, in this case triangulation is one of the validity measures. Triangulation is defined as the use of multiple methods mainly qualitative and quantitative methods in studying the same phenomenon for the purpose of increasing study credibility. This implies that triangulation is the combination of two or more methodological approaches, theoretical perspectives, data sources, investigators and analysis methods to study the same phenomenon. However, using both qualitative and quantitative paradigms in the same study has resulted into debate from some researchers arguing that the two paradigms differ epistemologically and ontologically. Nevertheless, both paradigms are designed towards understanding about a particular subject area of interest and both of them have strengths and weaknesses. Thus, when combined there is a great possibility of neutralizing the flaws of one method and strengthening the benefits of the other for the better research results. Thus, to reap the benefits of two paradigms and minimizing the drawbacks of each, the combination of the two approaches have been advocated in this article. The quality of our studies on welfare to combat poverty is crucial, and especially when we want our conclusions to matter in practice.

This study was an attempt to understand travellers’ perceptions of safety provision at one of the local airports in Nigeria, and the resultant effect on the airport patronage. Both qualitative and quantitative methods were employed to compare the opinions of male and female travellers at the airport. The study was conducted prior to the closure of the airport in late 2019. The result shows that travellers perceived available safety provision at the airport to be average in efficiency and that this has resulted to average patronage at the airport. This is completely the opinion of travellers. The study was also able to understand that there are some challenges deterring the airport from getting the needed level of safety provision. However, observations at the airport revealed that the Federal Government of Nigeria is currently revamping the standard of the airport to meet international best practice in airport management. The airport has been closed (shortly after this study) for some months now (still closed as at June 2020) to enable for timely and successful completion of the ongoing renovations and upgrading at the airport. The study has implications for safety contribution to airport management and efficiency in developing nations.
