The traditional model of Economic Injury Level (EIL) does not allow to directly incorporate aspects of damage to quality and safety of a product (Dq) into the decision-making process to control a pest (pathogen, weed, arthropod, vertebrate). This work now attempts to generalize a concept of EIL by (i) separating damages to quality and safety (i.e. Dq and EILq) from quantitative (i.e. Dw and EILw) types of damage (D) in the traditional EIL-equation, and (ii) by establishing a new way of estimation of EILq based on the penalization of quality and/or safety damage. The importance to distinguish between the terms EIL, EILw and EILq is discussed, and a calculation of the new index (Z), enabling the comparison of the relative economic importance of qualitative and quantitative damage caused by a particular level of pest infestation or disease severity, is proposed.

The sugarcane spittlebug, Mahanarva fimbriolata (Stål), is currently one of the most important pests of the sugarcane crop in Brazil. In spite of its economic importance, advances in the management of this pest have been limited by the lack of information on the economic injury level. In this study, the economic injury level for M. fimbriolata was estimated in a field experiment, over areas harvested in September, applying thiamethoxam at 200 g a.i. ha-1 or imidacloprid at 720 g a.i. ha-1. In one of the experiments, insecticide applications were made at pest infestation values of 4.2 (11/12/04), 7.1 (01/11/05), or 16.3 (01/18/05) insects m-1, and in experiment 2 when pest populations were 5.6 (11/12/04), 8.5 (01/11/05), or 15.3 (01/11/05) insects m-1. Control plots without insecticide were maintained. After the applications, spittlebug infestations were estimated monthly, and the experiments were harvested in September 2005. Spittlebug control with the application of insecticides resulted in stalk and sugar yield increases in relation to the control, for both experiments. Applications performed under smaller infestations resulted in higher yields than applications made under higher populations. There were no differences between insecticides in one of the experiments; in the other, however, thiamethoxan contributed to greater yield increases than imidacloprid. Insecticide applications made under lower infestations resulted in greater profits. Regression analyses allowed the estimation of the pest economic injury level to be between 2 to 3 insects m-1 for the conditions of this experiment.

The subject of this paper is to evaluate criteria in the decision-making process for choosing new usable office facilities in light of a big company or public service seeking for new usable office facilities. The criteria defining the requirements for individual selection variants enter into this decision-making process. These criteria have qualitative and quantitative characters. In order to model the criteria, it is desirable that their values are standardized. The method of standardization of these criteria is given in this paper. In this paper, attention is paid to the decision-making process in the course of choosing new usable facilities in administration objects. This decision-making process is based on input data analyses and on conclusions for a certain selection variant resulting from them.

A szerzők kutatási projektjükben a hazai lakosság utazással kapcsolatos fogyasztási, vásárlási magatartását vizsgálták, különös tekintettel a hibrid fogyasztói viselkedés alakulására. Indexszámítás alapján besorolták a válaszadókat a hibrid fogyasztás kategóriáiba. ________ Recent study examines travelling behaviour in Hungary with special emphasis on hybrid consumption. Using qualitative and quantitative analysis the study explore the decision making process related to hybrid consumption in travel services. Based on indexes the authors classified respondents into categories of hybrid consumption. According to their classification the main groups are savings-oriented budget shoppersand comfort-oriented brand shoppers, representing 31,9% and 29,6% share in the total sample, accordingly. Based on their analysis the approach of hybrid consumption proved to be useful to analyse consumer behaviour in travel services.

The main objective of the stuajl is to analyze the political economic and cultural factors aflecting corruption in regional economic development during decentralization era in Indonesia. The research uses both qualitative and quantitative methodology to elaborate the process of policy making in budgeting and in formulating regional regulation (Perda). Three districts were chosen as case studies i.e. Kabupaten Solok, Kabupaten Sukoharjo and Kabupaten Kutai Kartanegara. The results of the stuajl indicate that corruption has already emerged since the begining of decision making process in the executive as well as legislative agencies. The findings show that political economic and cultural factors are strongly aflecting the corruption in regional development in the autonomy era.

The complexity of problems and the necessity to find a comprehensive approach to their solution favours the search for various methods that support the decision making process in the construction industry. At present, the multi-criteria methods lead the way. They enable the assessment of the problem in many aspects and with taking into account qualitative and quantitative data. Moreover, these methods do not limit the decision-maker in terms of the number of considered variants as well as the scope and the type of adopted assessment criteria. The aim of the article is to present the procedure of assessment of proposed building material solutions with taking into account the division of criteria due to their character – benefits (B) and costs (C). It was shown the dependence adopted by the decision maker strategy on the final ranking of solutions using the BOCR approach in the AHP method.

Researchers have reported that despite technological development in photovoltaic technology and substantial cost reduction, there is still a narrow interest in architectural photovoltaic applications (APA). Lack of interest is correlated to various bottlenecks, and one of them is a lack of knowledge among architects on the possibilities and approaches to adopt APA. In response to the issues mentioned, the aim of the research presented was collecting qualitative and quantitative information from architects as lessons learned and perceptions in regards to APA. In total, 30 architects with and without experience of using photovoltaics (PV) were invited and interviewed. They were asked about their experience, design and decision-making process with PV, their understanding of integration, and the decisive factors to use APA. The results showed apparent differences between the experiences and perceptions, and they highlighted the lessons learned from realized projects. The analysis of the visual implication of PV integration shows that, to the eyes of architects, integration of PV into architecture does not depend on the PV product used, but instead, that when PV is part of the design concept and design process, the outcome is seen as a meaningful integration.

Along with the development of the era of demand, to always be fast in doing everything, I can't be avoided from the name of transportation. Transportation is a necessity for everyone alive. The car is one of the negotiated land transportation that is chosen by the people. People who work in the service sector own various types of cars to meet the needs of society. To get a car that meets expectations, of course, the rental tenant / car rental owner must have information about the car. Of the many car choices we can make decisions based on feelings. However, we had difficulty making a decision. Therefore we need a decision support system to help consumers decide which car to rent based on the criteria they want. TOPSIS is a method that can be used in the decision making process. And the products used are Toyota Cars 2000-2014. This method can be used to determine whether the car will be rented according to the qualifications required or not. This is because the method is a step-by-step assessment, both qualitative and quantitative. And TOPSIS is a method of taking into account the tolerance limits for the validity of various criteria chosen by the decision maker.
