The objective is to improve powerlifters’ technical preparedness at the initial training stage using a device for remote control of the competitive exercises technique. Materials and methods. The study relied on the following methods used: theoretical analysis and collation of data of scientific and methodological literature and internet; pedagogical observation; pedagogical experiment; methods of mathematical statistics. Results. We have designed an algorithmic structure for teaching squats with a barbell on shoulders in powerlifting and a device for remote control of the competitive exercises technique. We used the pedagogical experiment and pedagogical observation of the competitive activity to reveal reliable deviations (p > 0.05) in the number of mistakes made by the athletes of the reference and experimental groups during the competitive activity. The reference group powerlifters made the mistake “no straight angle between the knee and the hip joints when performing the third stage” twelve times, while the experimental group athletes — seven times. Conclusions. The results obtained allow to maintain that the experimental group athletes have more rationally mastered the competitive exercises technique and made fewer mistakes compared to the control group powerlifters. This confirms the effectiveness of the designed algorithmic structure for teaching squats with a barbell on shoulders.

Background: It is well known that advancing age is accompanied by many negative feelings due to the feeling of loneliness and psychological emptiness, which leads to the individual feeling that society does not need him due to his weak physical abilities and thus this, will negatively affect healthy aging. Objective: The study aimed to investigate the effect of the leisure activities on the psychological stress among the elderly during Coronavirus (COVID-19) Outbreak. Design: To achieve this, we used the quasi-experimental approach on a sample consisting of 54, with the average age of (65.4±2.3) years. Divided into two groups 27 as a control group and 27 as the experimental group and this sample was purposively selected. Because of the home quarantine and to reduce face-to-face interaction, we used a questionnaire to measure the psychological stress level by using the Google form. The study tool consisted of 7 paragraphs associated with depression and 6 paragraphs associated with anxiety, finally 6 paragraphs associated with aggression. Before applying the experiment, the psychological stress was measured among the study sample, and then the leisure activities program was sent to the experimental group by the WhatsApp application. The researchers used means, standard deviations, paired and independent sample t-test by using SPSS version 24 with a confidence level of 95% (p<0.05). Results: The results of the study have shown that the level of the psychological stress among both groups came with a high average in the pre-measurement, as well as the anxiety domain that were the most affected in a positive way through leisure activities practicing. Additionally, there were statistically significant differences between the pre and post measurement among experiment group and favor of the post measurement. Conclusion: the leisure activities practicing among the elderly have contributed positively to reducing the level of psychological stress represented by depression, anxiety.

The present study examined the role of awareness of metaphor in learners’ lexical learning. A total of 35 intermediate English as second language (ESL) students participated in this study. Participants were randomly divided into two small groups. One (N = 17) served as the control group and the other (N = 18) as the experimental group. Both groups were taught several metaphorically-used expressions over a period of six weeks. The groups differed in that the experimental group received systematic and explicit explanations of the source and target relationships that underlie metaphor, while the control group did not receive such instruction. Pre-tests and Post-tests were administered in order to measure lexical understanding of metaphorical items. Two journal entries were given out to students at two different intervals throughout the teaching period in order to tap into their views of how their lexical understanding of metaphor was changing, or not changing, over time. Results revealed that those students who received systematic and explicit explanations on the concrete experiential basis of metaphor showed greater understanding of metaphorical meanings, and seemed more inclined to unpacking their metaphoricity by looking at what lies behind them.

Objective. To evaluate preventive efficacy and reactogenicity of Grippol® plus vaccine in children aged 8 to 14 years residing in Almaty (Republic of Kazakhstan). Patients and methods. This open-label prospective study was conducted between October 2019 and April 2020 and included 600 children aged 8 to 14 years (mean age 10.6 ± 4.9 years) studying in two schools of Almaty. Study participants were divided into two groups (300 children in each): experimental group, in which children were vaccinated with Grippol® plus (Petrovax Pharm, Russia) in accordance with all rules and control group. Patients in both groups were matched for gender; children of the Mongoloid race prevailed in the experimental group. Parents (or official representatives) of all participants signed an informed consent before the enrollment. The efficacy of vaccination was evaluated by active monitoring (telephone contacts with parents) and assessment of the incidence of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections (ARVIs) during the next 6 months. We calculated the efficacy index and efficacy coefficient. Data analysis was performed using the Statistica 6.0 software; differences were considered significant at p < 0.05. Results. Follow-up of study participants during 6 months after vaccination demonstrated significant differences in the incidence of ARVIs and influenza between the two groups: 7 cases among vaccinated children (2,3%) vs 21 cases among controls (7%) (p < 0.05). One child from the control group had two episodes of ARVI. Mean duration of influenza and ARVIs in the experimental group was 1.8 times lower than that in the control group. The efficacy index and efficacy coefficient, calculated with the consideration of influenza diagnosis confirmation by polymerase chain reaction, were 3% and 66.7%, respectively. Local and systemic reactions to vaccination were observed in 3 children, were transient, and disappeared after 2–3 days. Conclusion. The trivalent inactivated polymer-subunit vaccine Grippol® plus was safe and effective in children aged between 8 and 14 years. Key words: vaccine, influenza, children, incidence, acute respiratory viral infections, efficacy

Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that affects the growth and development of children. The prevalence of atopic dermatitis has been continually increasing, and this has also been accompanied by rising socioeconomic costs. Interest has been growing in alternative medicine as a means of alleviating the burden of atopic dermatitis. This was a single-center, double-blinded, randomized, placebo-controlled investigator-led clinical trial including 60 atopic dermatitis patients. The participants were classified into an experimental group (30 persons) and a control group (30 persons), who were administered, respectively, socheongryong-tang or a placebo for 4 weeks. After 4 weeks of treatment, the participants visited the trial center again and assess their efficacy and safety. The researchers performed statistical comparisons of the changes in the SCORAD Index, amount and frequency of ointment use, and height and weight to assess the efficacy. To assess the safety, diagnostic tests and vital sign checks were performed at each visit, and the presence or absence of adverse events was observed. As a result, the frequency and the amount of steroid ointment application in both groups increased, but the experimental group showed less tendency (p = 0.081). Results of analyzing the children in the experimental group in relation to growth showed a significantly greater height growth than the control group (p < 0.05). In addition, all study participants did not show any remarkable abnormal signs in the safety evaluation. In conclusion, compared to the control group, the experimental group, who took socheongryong-tang showed a tendency to be less dependent on steroid ointment and statistically significant increase in height.

Abstract. The objective of this article is to compare the use of cooperative learning in the physical education class at the high school level of two educational centers and to verify its relationship with individual responsibility. The study was quasi-experimental, with post-test only. In addition to confirming the psychometric characteristics of the Cooperative Learning Questionnaire we compared the scores obtained on the scales of the questionnaire between the experimental group and the control group. The expected hypothesis was that the participants in the experimental group would obtain higher scores than those in the control group on the Individual Responsibility factor. The participants of the experimental group were 104 students, who participated in a cooperative teaching unit and then filled out the questionnaire. The control group participants were 154 students, who did not participate in a cooperative teaching unit but did fill out the questionnaire. To validate the questionnaire scales, a Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was performed with the Amos 22 software to verify that the 5 originally proposed factors were maintained. As a result, we found that the mean scores in the questionnaire were always higher in the experimental group. As expected, the only statistically significant difference was found in the Individual Responsibility factor. This leads to the conclusion that cooperative classes did significantly improve one necessary skill for better learning.
