The purpose of the study is to determine the age-related peculiarities of functional and motor preparedness of students of higher educational institutions. Materials and methods. The study participants were first-year (n=67), second-year (n=66), third-year (n=62), fourth-year (n=45), fifth-year (n=56) male students. The following research methods were used to solve the tasks set: analysis of scientific literature, pedagogical observation, pedagogical testing; index method and medical-biological methods. Pedagogical methods were used to study the peculiarities of functional state of the body and motor abilities of the 1st-5th year students of higher educational institutions; discriminant analysis was used for data processing. Results. There was no statistically significant difference between the 1st-5th year students by the results of test 5 “100 m run”, test 6 “Standing long jump”. The third-year students had the worst results in functional tests and Romberg’s test. The third-year students had the best results in test 7 “Arms’ bending and straightening in a hanging position”. Conclusions. Discriminant analysis made it possible to reveal that the third year of study is the most problematic period in students’ physical education; to answer the question as to the significance of difference between the 1st-5th year students by the level of motor and functional preparedness; to define what indicators most significantly influence the differences between the students’ preparedness; what class the object belongs to based on the values of discriminant variables. The discriminant function structure coefficients show that the most significant difference between the test results of the students in different years of study is observed in coordination preparedness.

In the last few years, the way we learn has been shifted dramatically from traditional classrooms depending on printed papers into E-learning depending on digital pages. Mobile learning (M-learning) is a recent technology that has been developed rapidly to deliver E-learning using personal mobile devices without posing any restrictions on time and location. In this work, we investigate students and faculty members’ attitudes towards the use of M-learning in higher educational institutions within two countries in the Gulf Region (Oman & UAE). Two questionnaire surveys have been conducted: one for students and another for faculty members. In these surveys, 383 students and 54 instructors have taken part within the study. An independent sample t-test was performed to examine whether there exist a significant difference among the students’ attitudes and the faculty members’ attitudes towards the use of M-learning with regard to gender and country. Results indicated that students in the UAE were more positive towards the use of M-learning than those in Oman. Moreover, results revealed that 99% of the students own mobile devices, in particular smartphones and tablets, while only 1% has not. Results of this study could help policy makers for better decision making in building the M-learning infrastructure in the higher educational institutions in general and specifically within the Arab Gulf region.

The article reveals the role of equations at the basic and profi le levels of teaching students mathematics at school. Various ways of solving rational equations of the third and fourth degree, based on the technique of the introduction of a new variable, are demonstrated. This technique is universal in mathematics. It fi nds its application both in algebra, in the solution of inequalities, in equations and their systems, and in geometry, where the additionally constructed geometric fi gure — a segment, an angle, a circle, a triangle — appears as a new variable. The methods of solving rational equations, shown by the author in this article, will be especially useful and interesting for students of profi le classes, as well as for applicants and students of higher educational institutions and mathematics teachers.

Employment of graduates of higher educational institutions (HEIs) is an important task worldwide. The main problems of employment are due to the existing discrepancy between the education re-ceived by graduates and the needs of business environment. The modern world should focus on the formation of graduates’ competencies in accordance with the demands of employers, which will pro-vide greater access to practical skills for students throughout the entire period of university studies. The purpose of the article is the differentiation of employers, analysis of their needs for graduates of economic specialties, readiness for partnership with HEIs. A survey of experts among employers and HEI professors allowed us to reveal the advantages of their social and professional partnerships and possible problems hampering the process of forming partnership relations. Discriminant analysis became the basis for classifying employers by the degree of their readiness to cooperate with HEIs. Three groups were employers are singled out: “business-focused”, “optimists” and “flagships”. Analysis of employers, taking into account their readiness to form partnership relations with HEIs, will contrib-ute to improving the quality of training personnel in business structures and HEIs.

The article reveals the importance of artistic gymnastics as a basic means of physical fitness of female students of higher educational institutions. The methodological features of artistic gymnastics as a means of basic training have been determined. It has been established that artistic gymnastics is a separate type of gymnastics, where, under the conditions of competition, with the help of qualified judges, the quality of the exercise (its complexity and harmony) is determined by the expert-assessment method in points, and the place (rating) of athletes is determined. One of the difficult methodological problems is the choice of ways to measure the health effectiveness of the developed tools and methods of physical fitness of students. It is obvious that the assessment of this effectiveness should be carried out not only by traditional indicators of motor readiness of students (according to the results of control standards), but the level of development of the most professionally significant adaptive qualities and properties of the body, ie the level of their health. The relevance of this work also lies in the attempt to systematize the traditional and developed means of basic sports - gymnastics and additional tools from other sports (rhythmic and athletic gymnastics, elements of sports, etc.), according to the energy orientation of the loads to achieve the most effective compensation for the deficit of physical activity in students of higher education institutions.

The article reveals the influence of fitness aerobics classes on the indicators of psychomotor abilities of female students of pedagogical higher educational institutions. Reasonably positive aspects of the influence of aerobics on the body. Taking into account that sport today has entered the life of society and has a massive character, it is urgent to study and analyze its impact on a person. Socio-economic living conditions of modern society are characterized by a significant increase in health requirements for future professionals, their preparedness for future professional activities and a high pace of life. Along with this, high information and emotional loads and at the same time a low level of culture of a healthy lifestyle - the inability to effectively organize their work and leisure, independent physical education and sports, many hours in front of computer screens and - cause syndromes "early and chronic fatigue "and reduce the motor potential of students. Attempts to solve the problem of improving the physical education of student youth have been made by many scientists, specialists and teachers. Scientists emphasize the need to change the practice of physical education of student youth by creating conditions for students to freely choose the content of physical education classes. One of the essential features of the subject "Physical Culture" in comparison with other disciplines: physics, mathematics, biology, and others. is that learners can achieve the ultimate goal of its study: a high level of physical culture.
