On a basis of analysis of documentary sources it is traced the status of the Ukrainian Academy of Science – All-Ukrainian Academy of Science under different political regimes that were in power within the given period. Frist of all, it is about the limits of self-governance of the Academy, about support, or vice versa, the restrictions of traditional academic freedoms by the government. Here it is noted that the state administration of science, scientific activities, and therefore of the Academy of Sciences is not identical with the concept of "governmentalisation" in negative terms. Research shows that the state government, whatever there is its social and political orientation, does not leave science out of its interests. And vice versa, scientists as subjects of scientific work did not imagene their activities out of the interests of the state, society with its requests. General conclusion is next: despite difficulties of objective and subjective character, founders of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences laid in basis of its concept the principles that have still remained viable.

In the context of the development of ethnological science in the first quarter of the 20th century, the article exa-mines the current and still relevant methods of ethnographic research on the example of the scientific work and creativity of the Ukrainian artist-ethnographer Yu. Pavlovych. His legacy includes tens of thousands of sketches of the monuments of the ethnic culture of the Ukrainian and other peoples, and includes original scientific publications. The research interests of the ethnographer were formed as a result of his acquaintance with the works of the leading Ukrainian scientists P. Chubynsky, F. Volkov and V. Antonovych. Since the time of Yu. Pavlovich’s work in the Cabinet of Anthropology and Ethnology of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine named after F. Volkov, his ethnological activity acquired consistency and was regulated by the ethnographic scientific projects of this institution. According to these programs, the scientist participated in monographic studies of settlements, successfully mapped the phenomena of material culture and carried out field ethnographic research.

The paper outlines system capabilities of Russia to join the scientific and technological leaders through changes in the staff policy in the science field, which was the purpose of the research. The subject of the research is institutional changes occurring in science and, particularly, staff training. The status of the Russian science is assessed in terms of changes in the basic rules and their adjustment with an emphasis on material and non-material incentives, staff rotation and training of young scientists. The paper proves that the frequency and content of institutional changes affect the quality of the scientific development and the training of scientific staff; moreover, copying the rules already in use reduces the competitive potential of science. From the scientific and practical standpoint, the research is novel in that it formulates proposals for establishing a labor compensation system and introduction of basic institutions (rules) to ensure the functioning of the scientific sphere and the efficiency of functions immanent to the latter. The paper proposes a “scientific product” doctrine that can be used for assessment of a scientist’s labor, according to which the scientist creates a product that is assessed not by the citation frequency or the number of published articles and books but by the importance of discoveries in theory and practice, the significance of new formulas and methods developed. It is suggested that the scientist’s labor compensation system be presented by two levels: the current salary and the estimated value of the total scientific product created. The problem of scientific work incentives can be solved by introducing a special tariffqualification grid tied to the system of the scientist’s promotion.

The article discusses the current problems of the theory and practice of archetypal branding, analyzes the problems of archetypal branding from the perspective of ergonomic support for marketing research. In the framework of modern ergonomics, one of the tasks of its development is the ergonomic support of marketing research, including research on the development and evaluation of the effectiveness and productivity of the brand. A brand that is developed by marketers in accordance with a particular archetype or a specific role model can not only gain consumer recognition, but also help them formulate a way to express themselves. A role model in terms of the ergonomic support of marketing research can be used to develop a brand strategy: it represents an image that reflects a person’s ideas about a desirable role in the community. The client seeks not only to demonstrate this image to people, but also to use it in order to support and transform his own identity. At the same time, role models, unlike archetypal structures, practices and theorists from the standpoint of ergonomic support of marketing research typologize, based directly on a comparison with the leading motives of life and consumption. Role models correspond to different consumption situations, without contradicting the specific cultural and historical context. From the position of ergonomic support of marketing research, they should and can be used as functions specific to a given community, region, and time, as well as transcultural or supercultural structures that reflect one or another pole of the archetype in a particular cultural and historical environment.

We look first at the situation in the early years of the restored Han dynasty. Liu Xin’s system continued in use for more than half a century. Then, in 85 CE, Liu Xin’s system was replaced. We have records of the practical and theoretical grounds on which the old system was rejected, and of the creation and implementation of a new system. Next we follow the story of how c. 92 CE Jia Kui advocated a fundamental innovation in both theory and practice: he insisted on the ecliptic as being central to astronomical observation and calculation. The richness of records from this period makes it easy to tell a detailed story of technical innovation in its fullest context, leading up to the work of Zhang Heng (78–139 CE), for whom astronomical calculation was just one of several fields in which he gained a reputation for exceptional originality.
