Robotics activities are related to addressing a problem, and usually problems in authentic, real situations. The students are given a driving question and are requested to solve a “problem”. Having noticed this connection, the current study evaluates the integration of robotics as a tool where the problem based learning (PBL) method and the interdisciplinary approach are intertwined. Specifically, the pre-programmable floor robots, the BeeBots, were used as cognitive-learning tools in order to examine students' development of problem based learning skills: creativity-innovation, critical thinking, and collaboration. A case study approach was employed, collecting quantitative (pre- and post-questionnaires) and qualitative data (focus groups). The results revealed positive student experiences and reactions, and enhancement of the critical thinking and creativity-innovation skills.

The practice of educational technology has long been driven by a relatively restricted set of operational metaphors: typically, computers are identified as potential “teachers” or “tutors” of material or (arguably more productively) as “learning tools” for students. Recent developments in technology suggest the advent of another, perhaps still more fruitful metaphor – namely viewing educational technology (not limited to computers) as a means of sensory extension. In this view, technology is seen not as a repository of content, but rather as an extension of scientific instrumentation (telescopes, microscopes, bubble chambers) and prosthetics (eyeglasses, cochlear implants). This chapter is intended as an initial, partly speculative exploration of what it would mean for science and arts education to rethink the role of technology in terms of sensory extension rather than classroom instruction.

This study presents a successful example of experimenting with proper step-by-step guidance on how, when and why to conduct factual investigations by introducing new learning tools to a group of law students, such as this set of computer-based games. Deploying the games as an extension of traditional law learning, this paper synthesizes complex tacit knowledge from legal experts, adopting the cognitive learning theory of Bloom’s Taxonomy, to create serious games as new learning approaches. Students’ learning revealed satisfactory achievement in enhancing the body of fact-finding knowledge and engagement. The gaming has potential in advancing practical knowledge of fact investigation for mass utilization, reducing traditional learning obstacles of a Thai law school, while minimizing the gap between existing educational approaches and students’ future professional practices.

Purpose The ability to project oneself into a future landscape is a critical aspect for studying and practicing the science of foresight and foresight-based learning systems. The purpose of this paper is to discuss how we can construct immersive spatial narratives through multimedia-enhanced learning approaches, to increase deeper learner immersion and levels of creativity to transport the learner into a simulated 2030 landscape by reducing the distance between the projected reality and the Self. Design/methodology/approach The author designed a foresight-based course on the Future of Mobile Learning underpinned by a new learning system that embraced the concept of immersive spatial narratives, combining physical, virtual and cognitive learning spaces, which enable students to explore complex, undiscovered or unstructured knowledge. Practicing was carried out on 35 students who had completed the course during the preceding three years through a questionnaire and interviews to establish increased levels of creativity in a simulated future landscape. Findings The paper established that the addition of multimedia learning environments and tools to foresight-based learning creates immersive spatial narratives that increase creativity and learner ability to project him/herself into a simulated future landscape. In all, 75 per cent of the respondents stated that having to think about the future and place themselves in a practicing landscape increased their creative skills. Originality/value A new, foresight-based learning system driven by the concept of immersive spatial narratives, enhanced with student-created multimedia learning tools. The system demonstrated how this approach helps to increase learner creativity and the ability to transition from their Present Self to their Future Self.

Robotics and programming integration as cognitive-learning tools, in selected teaching cases exploits its full potential; therefore, it upgrades and enhances the teaching and learning process and promotes school transformation. Employing a case study approach, the current study examines how robotics and computer programming can be integrated within the elementary teaching practice (2nd to 6th grade) in order to achieve learning objectives across disciplines beyond STEM (8 teachers and 169 students participated at the study). Results are discussed taking into account class size, robotics package used, teacher age, gender, experience and teacher digital literacy/ comfort level with technology. The innovative educational robotics curriculum developed by the Robotics Academy provides the theoretical and educational framework to achieve the above.

The background of this research is that some teachers only know the term regional potential but cannot explain the exact meaning of dar regional potential-based learning. So that the teacher has not been able to pour it in a learning process that is supported by a learning model cooperative to improve learning outcomes. Hence this study aims to: 1) To develop regional potential-based learning tools through guided inquiry, 2) To find out the feasibility of developing war equipment regional potential-based learning through guided inquiry to improve Cognitive learning outcomes of Biology Science students at SMP Negeri 2 Tenggarong Seberang. 3) For know the effectiveness of regional potential-based learning tools through guided inquiry to improve the cognitive learning outcomes of Science Biology Junior High School Students Negeri 2 Tenggarong Seberang. This development research refers todevelopment steps with the Thiagarajan model. By design The development is grouped into 3 development procedures includes: (a) the define stage (definition), (b) the design stage (design), and (c) the stage development (development). Product testing consists of validation tests that are carried out by learning device experts and linguists as well as device feasibility testing learning. Collecting data using observation guidelines and questionnaires for device experts, languages and practitioners an average of 61,07 with qualifications less worthy to be 89,76 with very decent qualifications, which means this device is very feasible to use. This research resulted in (1) regional potential-based learning tools through guided inquiry, (2) the resulting devices increased the results. students' cognitive learning with the difference in the percentage gain score test of the control class and experimental class with very good category 11%, good 14% and enough well -25%. The average value of student learning outcomes for the control class was 44,78 to be 78,14, while the average value for the experimental class was 54,5 to 82,32. As has been proven that the value of class learning outcomes experiment is higher than the control class can be seen in the independent t-testl sig.2-tailed with a number of 0,030 < 0,05. Comparison of t count to the t table of 2,234>1,70329. This proves a learning tool based on regional potential through guided inquiry to improve learning outcomes Cognitive Science Biology effectively used by students of SMP Negeri 2 Temggarong Seberang

West Nusa Tenggara has been inhabited by three major tribes namely; Sasak in Lombok, Samawa, in western Sumbawa, and Mbojo tribe in the middle and east of Sumbawa Island. Other tribes in Indonesia such as Bali, Java, Medan, and others color the cultural diversity of the people of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The blending of various characters, cultures, and customs in a community of life is very potential to cause tribal, religious, belief, and racial conflicts. This fact occurs because of the lack of tolerance in the community. Tolerance can be built through well-planned education. This study aims to: 1) know the model of 'learning devices' IPA based on tolerance for school / madrasah in conflict prone areas, 2) to know the ability of science teachers in applying learning tools IPA based on tolerance, 3) to know the social skills of students in science learning, 4 ) know the attitude of student's tolerance after learning, 5) knowing student cognitive learning outcomes after science-based learning tolerance. The research used is research development with model development of Kemp et al. (1994). This research was conducted in two stages, namely: (1) Development of Learning Device which includes; (a) Instructional Problems, (b) Learner Characteristics, (c) Task Analysis, (d) Objectives, (e) Content Sequencing, (f) Instructional Strategies, (g) Instructional Delivery, (h) Evaluation Instrumens, ) Instructional Resources. (2) Testing Devices to be implemented on the students of class IX MTs Kondok Barokah Nahdlatul Wathan. Research data were analyzed using descriptive statistics by calculating descriptive statistic parameters, such as; the highest value, the lowest value, the average, standard deviation, and percentage.
