The article discusses the connection between the phenomena of empathy and subjectivity from the standpoint of cultural and historical psychology (L.S. Vygotsky) and the reflexive-activity approach (V.K. Zaretsky and others). We conduct a meth- odological analysis of the sources of empathic abilities and subjectivity (sense of agency, intentionality) in anthropogenesis (M. Tomasello), investigate the common roots of these phenomena in the development of dialogical thinking in ontogenesis (C. Fernyhough), and postulate a hypothesis on the interrelation of their higher, mature forms. We present the results of the empirical study of empathy and subjec- tivity in university and college students (N=154). In the group of university students, the relationship between empathic ability, perspective taking, emotional support and position of agency in learning is revealed. College students have a lower level of em- pathic abilities and a greater degree of objective (passive) and negative positions in the learning activity, their position of agency is weakly connected to perspective tak- ing and shows a significant negative correlation with personal distress. Conclusion: students with a more pronounced subjective position (stronger sense of agency) have a stronger empathic ability, which confirms the initial hypothesis. Purpose Despite concerns about the effect of internet addiction, little is known about how psychological suzhi impacts the internet addiction of college students. This paper aims to investigate the relationship between psychological suzhi and internet addiction among college students. Design/methodology/approach Using the college student psychological suzhi scale and internet addiction test, 2,070 college students from 11 universities in North China, East China, South China and Southwest China were tested. Findings The detection rate of internet addiction in this college sample of students was 18.8%. There was a significant negative correlation between students’ psychological suzhi and internet addiction (r = −0.408, p < 0.01). Hierarchical regression analysis showed that adaptability and individuality in psychological suzhi significantly negatively predicted college students’ internet addiction tendency (p < 0.001). Originality/value This study is the first to show a relationship between psychological suzhi and internet addiction in college students. In detail, the adaptability and individuality of college students’ psychological suzhi are protective factors related to internet addiction. The results also suggested that the authors can prevent and intervene in internet addiction by modifying college students’ adaptability and individuality.

The article considers the main fields and onotogenetic development processes of men- talization and empathy. The neural measures and psychological studies results show that there is an active formation process of mentalization and empathy in adolescence. The article highlights the disputable character of the results of modern studies of social cognition in adolescence. The neural measures require further interpretation. The differences in mechanisms of empathy and mentalization are discussed, specifically the order of empathy components (cognitive or emotionally) forming in the onotogenetic development process. The various results of studies showing the proximity of these processes and prove their relative independence (including at the level of neural networks). The article contains the evidence that strong mentalization reduces the risk of emotional maladjustment and aggressive behavior, while its deficits correlate with bullying. We consider the current study of mentalization and empathy family factors. Particular attention is paid to the E.Mains study, which summarizes the research of social cognition ontogenetic development factors in building on the cultural and historical theory development of the of the psyche L.S. Vygotsky. Changes in Level of Aggression can affect ones Emotional Competence and its dimensions. College students who are Day Scholars (living at home) and Boarders (living in hostels, PGs, Rented Flats) may have different types of stressors and issues which in turn may affect ones level of aggression. The aim of the study was to assess the relationship between level of aggression and emotional competence among day scholars and boarders. The dimensions of emotional competence include Adequate Depth of Feeling (ADF), Adequate Expression and Control of Emotions (AECE), Ability to Function with Emotions (AFE), Ability to Cope with Problem Emotions (ACPE), Enhancement of Positive Emotions (EPE). The sample consists of 120 college students of Delhi/NCR (60 day scholars and 60 boarders) which were selected using purposive sampling technique. For the purpose of data collection, questionnaire of Aggression Scale by Dr. G.P. Mathur and Dr. Rajkumari Bhatnagar and Emotional Competence Scale by Dr. Harish Sharma and Dr. Rajiv Lochan Bhardwaj were used. The quantitative analysis was done by the help of Pearsons Product Moment Correlation. The findings revealed significant negative correlation between level of aggression and emotional competence.

Abstract The aim of the work was to study the relationship between biochemistry of seminal plasma with the ejaculate volume and the concentration of spermatozoa. Ejaculates from 35 stallions aged 5 to 15 were collected during the breeding season (February–May). The concentration of calcium (Ca), phosphate (P), potassium (K), magnesium (Mg), selenium (Se), zinc (Zn) and lithium (Li) in seminal plasma were determined by atomic emission and mass spectrometry (AES-ICP and MS-ICP) using an mass spectrometer Elan 9000 (Perkin Elmer, USA) and an atomic emission spectrometer Optima 2000V (Perkin Elmer,USA). The concentration of glucose, phospholipids, aspartate-amino-transferase (AST) and alkaline phosphatase (AIP) was determined by ChemWell 2902V analyzer (Awareness Technology, USA). The significance of differences between the indices was determined using Student’s t-test, the differences at P ≤ 0.05 were considered statistically significant. A significant negative correlation between the volume of ejaculate and concentration of Se (r = -0.42; P = 0.01), P (r =-0.39; P = 0.001), AIP (r = -0.48; P = 0.01), Zn (r = -0.40; P = 0.01), Li (r = -0.39; P = 0.02), phospholipids (= -0.52; P = 0.03) in seminal plasma was established. A correlation between the concentration of sperm and the concentration of P (r = 0.71; P = 0.01), Se (r = 0.39; P = 0.02), Li (r = 0.33; P = 0.05), AIP (r = 0.81; P = 0.001) in seminal plasma was established. Also a negative correlation between the concentration of sperm and glucose (r = -0.62; P = 0.01) was found. We assumed that selenium, zinc, phosphorus, lithium, phospholipids and AIP in seminal plasma have an epididymal origin and do not depend on the secretion of the accessory sex glands. Glucose enters the ejaculate with the secrets of the accessory sex glands. Abstract The aim of this work was to study the relationship between ultrastructural integrity and sperm survival during hypothermic storage of chilled and cryopreserved stallion sperm. Semen from 37 stallions, were collected during the breeding season. The structural integrity of sperm was studied using a Hitachi 700 electron microscope. Progressive motility was evaluated using an Olympus BX 41 phase contrast microscope. Sperm survival was defined as the ability of spermatozoa to maintain progressive motility above 5% during hypothermic (+4C) storage of sperm. Spearman nonparametric correlation analysis was used. Sperm survival at a temperature +4°C in chilled semen averaged 115.4±11.47 hours. After freezing sperm survival decreased on average to 48.9±5.56 hours (P < 0.001). A reliable correlation between the number of sperm with intact heads and sperm survival at a temperature of + 4°C in diluted (r=0.60; P < 0.001) and thawed (r=0.63; P < 0.001) sperm was established. A significant negative correlation between the number of spermatozoa with degradation of the acrosome in native sperm and their survival (r=-0.48; P < 0.01) under the hypothermic storage was found. For cryopreserved semen, a similar dependence has not been established. A significant correlation between the number of spermatozoa with the normal position of the acrosome and the sperm survival rate in native sperm was also established (r=0.52; P < 0.01). A significant negative correlation between sperm with acrosome hypoplasia and sperm survival was found (r=-0.67; P < 0.001). We assume that the structural integrity and ability of spermatozoa to maintain progressive motility for a long time under conditions of hypothermic storage depends on the quality of spermatogenesis and the resistance of cells to low and ultra-low temperatures. The article is devoted to the study of the relationship between empathy and learning activity position in adolescence and young. We present the results of empirical research of 78 assisting professions students (psychologists and teachers) and 42 Polytechnic College students with the techniques of studying empathic abilities (questionnaire of the Interpersonal Reactivity Index of M. Davis in the adaptation of TD Karyagina, projective technique "Consolation Strategies" Vasiluk and EV Sheryagina, processing in the modification of AB Kholmogorova), and the the subject position (the questionnaire "Subject Position in studying activity" by Yu.V. Zaretsky and V.K. Zaretsky). Students less likely to use emotional support, the objective position is more clearly expressed and less subjective in relation to learning activity. Subjects with a subjective learning activity position have stronger empathy, perspective taking and the ability to provide support. Subjects with a subject position often use emotional support.

OBJECTIVES: Smartphone addiction is a growing concern that can impact social, psychological, and health, while contributing to functional impairments. This study aimed to determine the relationship between smartphone addiction and the grade point average (GPA) of undergraduate college students in the U.S. METHODS: This descriptive study consisted of 53 undergraduate college students. The Smartphone Addiction Scale (SAS) and overall grade point average (GPA) was gathered via survey. The data was analyzed through Pearson’s correlation to demonstrate the association between these variables. FINDINGS: While not statistically significant at the α = .05 level, the results suggest an almost statistically significant negative correlation (r = -0.210, p = .066) indicating a weak but noteworthy association between smartphone addiction and GPA. CONCLUSION: Smartphone addiction is a growing concern that has shown to impact quality of life in Asian countries. These results suggest further research with larger samples in the U.S. is needed to inform college students of the risks smartphone addiction can have on academic success.
