The indicators of the sanitary condition of woody plants in the conditions of natural and artificial ecosystems of the Voronezh and Saratov Regions were established and analyzed. In suburban ecosystems of the research area, the state of woody plants is determined at the level of weak damage. In suburban areas of Balashov with the greatest economic and technosphere potential, woody plants reach an average (moderate) degree of damage. In remote relatively preserved ecosystems (control parameters), the state of these organisms corresponds to a weak ecological diagnostic criterion. According to the identified average arithmetic sanitary indicators in the Voronezh Region, the best condition is characterized by woody plants in the ecosystems of Novohopersk and Gribanovsky, in the Saratov Region - in Turki and Samoylovka. There were also significant differences in the arithmetic mean parameters of the sanitary condition of this group plants representatives differentiated by functional zones. The highest damage values are typical for woody plants in the urban ecosystems of industrial zones. The maximum danger to woody plants was observed within these zones in Povorino, Borisoglebsk, and Balashov with high-level average values of damage to these organisms. Significant concern is also caused by the defeat of the analyzed group of organisms in these cities as part of the ecosystems of the settlement zones. The results of the assessment of the sanitary condition of woody plants should be used as a scientific basis for landscaping, environmental protection and reforestation. Measures are proposed to improve the condition of woody plants in various types of ecosystems in the research area. According to the sanitary state of these organisms, it is possible to determine the limits of sustainability of ecological frameworks and differentiate the parameters of environmental comfort for the local population in different territorial categories.

Pupils have a high level of chronic disease, the indicators of their physical development are reduced with increasing educational load. In this regard, of particular interest is the state of health of schoolchildren, additionally engaged in active sports in special clubs. Purpose of research. To study the state of health of schoolchildren of St. Petersburg attending the clubs of active sport, depending on age. Materials and methods. Data of medical examinations of 1122 schoolchildren 8-16 years old, engaged in sports schools in St. Petersburg. The Mann-Whitney U-test and the comparison of relative frequencies in two populations were used. Results of the research and discussion. Among children, the most popular sports are football (36.7%) and athletics (29.4%), the prevailing majority of children attend clubs from 1 year to 6.5 years. The proportion of pupils from the second health group was 84.9%, healthy children from the first health group – 13.1%, respectively. The most frequent deviations of musculoskeletal system were posture disorders (69.7% of children) and scoliosis (10.0%), at the same time, by the age of 16, the incidence of posture disorders significantly decreased (p < 0.05), and the proportion of scoliosis increased (p < 0.01). Myopia of weak and moderate degree was revealed in 13.3% of surveyed schoolchildren, the proportion of children with myopia by the age of 16 increased significantly (to 20.7%, p < 0.05). Among children attending sports clubs, fewer have myopia than among pupils enrolled in regular schools. The revealed dynamics of morbidity of the musculoskeletal system among children engaged in sports sections, indicates the need for continuous medical monitoring of the level of physical activity and the need to correct the training regimen in identifying children’s health abnormalities.

The purpose of the study is to analyze the sanitary condition of tree and shrub vegetation on the territory of school No. 19 in the city of Yoshkar-Ola. This work is relevant, since the school is a place for long-term stay of children of school and preschool age and the natural environment is an integral part of their educational activities. To determine the assessment of the state of the stand, the coefficients of the state of plants are calculated: the states of individual trees are determined by the external signs of a 5-point scale. Next, the coefficients of the state of the tree species are calculated according to the corresponding formula. The coefficients of the state of the stand as a whole are also found as the arithmetic mean of the coefficients of the state of individual tree spe-cies. As a result, an assessment of the state of the stand according to this gradation was deter-mined. Woody plants growing on the territory of secondary school No. 19 in Yoshkar-Ola were examined. A total of 35 species of coniferous and deciduous plants have been identified. Most species are characterized by a weakened state. Plants of hawthorn-blood-red, poplar × 'Soviet Py-ramidal', prickly plum and mountain ash are the most weakened. The condition of the plantings as a whole is assessed as weakened. It is recommended to carry out agrotechnical measures for plants and cleaning of dead specimens.

Until now, little attention has been paid to the issues of adaptation, introduction, selection and seed science for the selection of an assortment of woody plants used on degraded lands in the arid zone during the enrichment of dendroflora in sparsely forested regions. In recent years, according to the national projects "Science" and "Ecology", much attention has been paid to the adaptive organization of the territory of agro- and urban ecosystems in order to increase the comfort of living for the population and greening the production of agricultural products. Objects - dendrological artificial plantations, research and production complexes, nurseries, an assortment adapted in the arid belt of Russia (Lower Volga station for selection of tree species - branch of the Federal Research Center of Agroecology of the Russian Academy of Sciences; cad. No. 34: 36: 000014: 178; Volgograd region). The goal is to substantiate and select adapted species, forms of trees and shrubs for the enrichment of dendroflora in agroforestry and gardening in the Lower Volga region. The research methodology is based on the bioecological principles of introduction, selection and nursery based on the study of plants in the "genotype-environment" system, the use of the ecological and economic potential of tree species, taking into account their variability and the specific conditions of the arid region and the enrichment of dendroflora in forest reclamation and gardening. On the parent hybrid plantations of pines, poplars, oaks, maples and ash trees, the growth, state, and reproductive development were recorded. The substantiation and methodology of bioecological selection of adapted species and forms of woody plants in arid conditions are given. A catalog of assortment for nursery of economically adapted trees and shrubs is presented. Materials were obtained on the allocated taxa for registration of intellectual property objects. The introduction of scientific developments was carried out at the production nurseries of the Nizhnevolzhskaya station for the selection of tree species. Annual sale of seedlings and seedlings worth about 7 million rubles from the selection of improved seed material for the enrichment of dendroflora. The results of determining the fluctuating asymmetry (FA) index of Betula pubescens leaves as well as the state of birches in general, as an aboriginal species in the Murmansk region to assess the pollution of urban ecosystems of the Kola North (Murmansk, Apatity, Olenegorsk, Polyarnye Zori, Kandalaksha) in the zone of influence of railway transport have been presented in the article. It has been shown that the most weakened birches grow in Kandalaksha and Olenegorsk, while in Kandalaksha area, there are more than 10% of dead trees. It has been revealed that the highest FA index which characterizes the critical state of plants and the high level of environmental pollution is observed in Olenegorsk. The increased level of FA has also been in Kandalaksha and Polyarnye Zori. The comparative analysis of the state of plants and FA index showed existence of functional interrelation only in Kandalaksha and Olenegorsk when with a significant proportion of weakened trees the indicator of FA is the highest. Due to the fact that the increase in the level of FA is influenced by stress factors caused not only by pollution, the method of assessing the quality of the environment by the fluctuating asymmetry should be used in complex with other studies.

The N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) is a member of the ionotropic glutamate receptor (iGluR) family that plays a crucial role in brain signalling and development. NMDARs are nonselective cation channels that are involved with the propagation of excitatory neurotransmission signals with important effects on synaptic plasticity. NMDARs are functionally and structurally complex receptors, they exist as a family of subtypes each with its own unique pharmacological properties. Their implication in a variety of neurological and psychiatric conditions means they have been a focus of research for many decades. Disruption of NMDAR-related signalling is known to adversely affect higherorder cognitive functions (e.g. learning and memory) and the search for molecules that can recover (or even enhance) receptor output is a current strategy for CNS drug discovery. A number of positive allosteric modulators (PAMs) that specifically attempt to overcome NMDAR hypofunction have been discovered. They include various chemotypes that have been found to bind to several different binding sites within the receptor. The heterogeneity of chemotype, binding site and NMDAR subtype provide a broad landscape of ongoing opportunities to uncover new features of NMDAR pharmacology. Research on NMDARs continues to provide novel mechanistic insights into receptor activation and this review will provide a high-level overview of the research area and discuss the various chemical classes of PAMs discovered so far.

A multidimensional analysis of the state of Russian studies on the education issues over 1993–2016 was carried out based on the materials of the data contained in the Web of Science (SSCI, A & HCI and SCI-E databases). There were determined the dynamics and trends of a number of relevant indicators, such as the number of Russian publications by year, the share of these publications in the global flow of publications on education issues, the dynamics of the share of publications made in co-authorship with foreign colleagues, etc. A number of distributions of Russian publications on educational issues was compiled and analyzed: by journals, by Russian regions and cities, by organizations and authors of the publications. It was found that most of these distributions were characterized by a high level of non-uniformity. A list of journals (125 titles) in which Russian works on education issues had been published was compiled. Russian organizations (308) and domestic researchers (about two thousand) engaged in studying the issues of education were identified. It was discovered that more than 200 organizations and about 400 academicians from 60 foreign countries had participated in Russian studies on the education issues.

Background:Responsive behaviours in dementia are associated with poor outcomes for the person with dementia (PWD) and caregiver burnout. Family caregivers need a variety of tools to manage responsive behaviours. The Baycrest Quick-Response Caregiver Tool was developed to provide caregivers with a tool that can be used in real time. In this study, the feasibility, impact, and effectiveness of this new tool were studied in family caregivers and health care providers (HCP) using quantitative and qualitative measures. Methods:Family caregivers were recruited and were asked to complete a pre-survey before being sent the link to the educational tool. One month after the telephone survey, caregivers were sent an online post-survey to gather their feedback on the tool and the impact of the tool on caregiver well -being. Healthcare providers were also recruited and reviewed the tool through an online feedback survey. The feasibility, impact, and effectiveness of the tool were assessed using quantitative and qualitative measures. Results:Caregivers had a moderate degree of and reported a high level of competence - these scores were maintained throughout the study. Caregivers reported that tool positively impacted their compassion towards the person with dementia (PWD), and that their interactions with improved. 100% of HCP who completed the feedback survey would recommend the tool to other HCP and to caregivers of PWD. The caregivers and HCP provided specific suggestions for improvement. Conclusions:The Baycrest Quick-Response Caregiver Tool was found to be feasible and helpful. It provides caregivers and HCP with an additional approach for responsive behaviours.

In March 1938 the National Socialists seized power in Austria. One of their first measures against the Jewish population was to confiscate their vehicles. In Vienna alone, a fifth of all cars were stolen from their legal owners, the greatest auto theft in Austrian history. Many benefited from the confiscations: the local population, the Nazi Party, the state and the army. Car confiscation was the first step to the ban on mobility for Jews in the German Reich. Some vehicles that survived World War II were given back to the families of the original owners. The research uses a new online database on Nazi vehicle seizures.

High rates of desertion and surrender during the battles in North Africa in the summer of 1942 were a major factor in Eighth Army’s poor combat performance. At the time, some suggested that these problems were symptomatic of a lack of courage or even of cowardice. There are two broad strands to the conceptualization of courage and cowardice. One focuses on the willingness of the person to fight; the other puts emphasis on how actions express an individual’s ability to cope with fear. Whichever conceptualization is used, high morale motivates the soldier to fight and shields the ordinary recruit from his fear, preventing it from overcoming him in battle. Where morale fails, the soldier is left demotivated and burdened with his terror and, therefore, and is therefore prone to desertion or surrender. Because it is extremely difficult to maintain morale at a continuously high level in an environment governed by chance and managed by humans, all soldiers can find themselves in situations where their actions may be judged as cowardly. Alternatively, if they are properly motivated to fight and prepared by the state and military to deal with the unavoidable fear of combat, all soldiers can be labelled courageous. Accordingly, emotive terms should be avoided when attempting to describe rationally explainable outcomes. The undoubtedly negative connotations attached to cowardice in battle and the positive ones attached to courage are, therefore, arguably unhelpful in understanding Eighth Army’s performance in the summer of 1942 and the human dimension in warfare more generally.
