This article explains a logical, seven-step approach that helps to solve problems of on-time product and service delivery with profit. The first step is to obtain product specifications. The next step is to design a method for producing the product, including the design and purchase of equipment and production processes, if required. Scheduling for production is the coordination step; if not done well, it will spell doom for the company. Coordination is the key to purchasing raw materials in accordance with the schedule. Next is the transformation phase of raw materials to finished product—actual factory production—which is commonly called the value-added step. The quality assurance phase of monitoring results for technical compliance and cost control is an ongoing process of constant vigilance and continuous improvement. This step seeks to ensure that the product or service is being provided in accordance with the plan, a plan that includes technical, schedule, and cost goals. The best companies use total quality management (TQM), whereby improvement is continuous, as exemplified symbolically by the TQM triangle.

This article highlights the problem of functional nutrition in Ukraine. Rationale and need for creating new products with improved properties are substantiated, the list of used natural additives, which are a source of important nutrients, is given. The results of conducted tests confirm the optimization of the chemical composition of new cereal concentrates, improvement of their organoleptic properties, an extension of shelf life, which indicates that the choice of the prescription components is correct and their rational proportion. The nutritional and biological value of Extrapolyvitamix, a new cereal concentrate, enriched with vegetable powders, wheat germ, casein iodide, and raisins, is determined. The investigations of cereal concentrate properties proved that they might be included in a group of functional foods due to changes in chemical composition, which will compensate for the deficiency of nutrients necessary for optimal body functioning after previous diseases. The rational concentrations of functional ingredients that can be used in new products are established. It is proved that the use of vegetable-based milk substitutes will allow the development of new products that meet current market needs. Taking into account global trends and changes in consumer preferences, plans for future studies focuses on creating new products with high biological value using only plant raw materials.

The concept of globalization inherently necessitated knowing management technics that could adapt to fast changes. Assuming all other financial aspects are almost equal for companies, the only factor “that can create difference” within the global competition environment is “the human factor”. It draws attention in the way that among companies who set out with the same technical equipment, the companies who are successful in customer relations are able to render the global competition sustainable through approaches that are based on the human factor. In this area, the constructive influences of total quality management on the human, which is the main source that can manage information and turn it into speed and strength, positively reflect on companies and translate into advantages. Placing human at the center of the business, these approaches add new dimensions to changes and developments that will create differences in the global market in line with the versatile structure of business management and contribute to earnings that support economic growth.

The application of Total Quality Management (TQM) is closely related to the quality of existing resources in the company. TQM provides a foundation for quality management and is an alternative in ensuring customer satisfaction, as well as Just In Time (JIT) which is a comprehensive and comprehensive production system. inventory management system where raw materials are purchased and produced as much as needed and used at the right time in every production process. In this study, the authors will examine the effect of TQM and JIT in efficiency of production costs at the manufacturing company PT Semen Padang in period 2016-2019. The data collection method was carried out by distributing questionnaires to each unit manager at PT Semen Padang which included managers of the accounting unit, human resource unit and production unit. The sampling technique used purposive sampling method and there were 67 samples. The analytical method used is to use the classical assumption test. Data analysis was also performed using the multiple regresion method with the SPSS Ver.16 application Based on the results of the hypothesis testing, it shows that Total Quality Management (TQM) has a positive effect on cost efficiency and Just In Time (JIT) has a positive effect on cost efficiency.

The acceleration in deployment of the key low carbon technologies in the wind, solar, and energy storage areas has real implications for the commodities market, not only rare earths, such as indium and neodymium. Aluminum, copper, silver, bauxite, iron, lead, and others all stand to potentially benefit from a strong shift to low carbon technologies. It would be reasonable to expect that all low carbon energy systems are more likely than not to be more metal intensive than high-carbon systems. All literature examining material and metals implications for supplying clean technologies agree that building these technologies will result in considerably more material-intensive demand than would traditional fossil fuel mechanisms. At present the minerals/materials considered “critical” (Critical Raw Materials – CRM) for EU economy are mainly constituted by rare earth metals, base and precious metals. The supply of CRM is highly connected to international politics and global market conditions; most of them are exploited in countries other than EU ones, causing high economic dependence from non-EU countries.

RM and CRM are principally extracted from natural resources, urban and industrial landfill sites, and extractive waste facilities. To evaluate the potentially exploitable quantity and typologies of RM/CRM and secondary raw materials (SRM), standardized protocols, including waste characterization and waste volume potentially exploitable are needed. Further to this, and together with environmental and human health aspects, the economic and societal aspects need to be integrated and therefore common cost benefit analysis (CBA) and life cycle assessment (LCA) methodologies should be also used. A more sustainable and integrated approach in the management of extractive industry at large, also thanks to proper Guidelines, is needed to boost the waste recycling. Some tools, as the sustainable finance, can be applied to encourage industries to be more responsible.

Fundamental is the interaction within Research Centers, Academies, Industries and Public Administrations in researching innovative and newer solutions for waste recycling (in terms of new technologies and products) and in guaranteeing the application at a wider scale of the products, objects of patents and already tested, not already present in the global market. In many cases, the possibility to re-use SRM from mining waste is invalidate from landscape constraints or bans on protected areas; to move these limits, it’s necessary working harmonically with Public Administrations and Mining Companies in order to show them the results of materials recovered in terms of LCA, if compared to mining. The typical objection from “stakeholders” is to consider the removing operations too much invasive on territory, but this belief could be debunked with a correct, agreed approach of the project; good solutions of environmental recovery should be found after exploitation, also to solve safety and pollution problems and return the site in better condition. For these reasons, we consider to give priority to the case-histories which represent a real or potential risk (for production, of stability, hydrogeological, chemical, etc.), but in perspective mostly a precious resource.

The present research investigates the chance to guarantee a more sustainable mining in selected Italian case studies.

Purpose: The implementation and certification of Management Systems International Standards, such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, achieved a high international recognition, with more than 1 million organizations with their Quality Management Systems certified worldwide. Researchers have been paying considerable attention to this theme and the number of published articles has robustly growth. Although, on an overall basis, the research results support the existence of positive impacts on the use and certification of these International Standards, there are various inconsistency and contradictory results, leading to some controversy over its impacts for organizations. This study aims to bring a longitudinal time perspective to this area of research, analyzing the articles published since 1996, on the benefits of Management Systems Certification. A longitudinal perspective of countries of authors origin, keywords and journals is presented, complemented with an evaluation of the research results.Design/methodology/approach: The research was supported with a Bibliometric Study, with data collected from Web of Science, SCOPUS, and Research Gate data bases. Following the detailed analysis of the journal titles, articles abstracts and their full content, an evaluation scale was applied to access if the results support the existence of a positive relationship between MSC and economic, financial or stakeholder results.Findings: The results evidence a steep increase in the number of publications addressing Management Systems Certification benefits, that mainly originate from Europe (48%) and East Asia and Pacific (23%), with Spain as the clear leading country accounting (43% of the total number of articles published between 1996 and April 2017). Journal of Cleaner Production (EMSC) and Total Quality Management and Business Excellence journal (QMSC) are the leading journals for disseminating the research and the most used keywords are “Quality/Environment”, “ISO 9001/14001”, “Performance”, “Management Systems” and “Certification”. There are also insights that the research is now open to other Management Systems either than Quality and Environment. The systematic review of the selected papers shows that the Management Systems adoption and certification brings fairly positives benefits (average 2,34 in a 1 to 5 Likert type scale) for the certified organizations, although some variations are observed. Some avenues for future research should consider the reliability and validation of measures; sampling and biases errors; the use of control, moderating and mediating variables; the consideration of time and situational contingencies; and the search for explanations for cause and effect relationships. The results of this research support the view that the investigation of Management Systems Certification benefits is indeed an issue of high academic and practitioners interest. This research, although subject to some subjective evaluation of the authors, and acknowledging that the research articles are not always comparable, aims to give some insights for this continuous research field. Research limitations/implications: Although the authors took measures to reduce subjectivity, it should be noted that the evaluation could be subject to the authors own interpretation and the research articles are not always comparable.Originality/value: This research makes a longitudinal and comprehensive evaluation of the articles published since 1996 on the benefits of Management System Certification. It highlights trends and gives contribution for future research, on a field of intense academic and practitioners interest.

Relevance. Fracturing of the array is one of the main factors in the formation of quality blocks of decorative stone. Systems of natural cracks form a separate rock and determine the shape and size of structural blocks, which determines the possible output of conditioned block products from the array, the choice of the method of preparing the rock for excavation, the location and direction of movement of the mining front in accordance with the nature, intensity and elements of the occurrence of cracks. To control the quality of decorative stone blocks, modeling and forecasting optimal parameters, it is necessary to investigate the possibility of identifying fractures and then determining their geometric parameters using modern digital equipment. Purpose of research is to analyze the quality management of the extracted rock based on the use of mathematical modeling technologies. The methodology of the work consists in using methods of mathematical modeling, as well as statistical data processing. Results. The practical application of the results is to apply the developed methods in order to optimize the quality management system of the extracted rock and increase its efficiency. As a result of practical research, a rational ledge height of 5.8 m has been established for the conditions of the granodiorite Deposit, which allows to ensure the necessary production capacity of the quarry, high productivity of mining equipment, safety of mining operations, minimal economic costs for mining operations, low production costs and minimal losses of block raw materials. Conclusions. The analysis of the complex of mining operations of mining enterprises allows us to make a conclusion about the need to introduce new technologies into production that would ensure the automation of work, increase the reliability of measurement results and calculations. At the same time, automation should be based on the use of remote methods for assessing the quality of decorative stone, new electronic devices and appropriate software.

Customer focus is one of the main principles of Total Quality Management, and it is inevitable for long term, mutually successful vendorcustomer partnerships. The strictly controlled quality management systems of animal feed industry ensure that product quality meets the expectations of all parties involved and, indirectly the reliability of human food raw materials. Meanwhile, the participants of agricultural production are variably quality conscious, so feed manufacturers support their supply chain and also their customers with professional background and they play a key role in safe food chains from farm to fork.
