Abstract: Welding is welding that utilizes flame heat in electric arcs to melt electrodes and workpieces. SMAW welding is widely used because of its relatively easy to use, cost-friendly and maximum quality results. In conducting welding has several factors that will affect the quality of the welding results such as a welder, welding current and metal distance and welding seam angle. This study aims to determine whether there is an influence of current variations and magnitude of the seam angle to the value of the impact strength and the hardness value of the SMAW welding results. This study uses a pre-experimental method with a one-shot case model. The results of this study indicate the highest impact strength values of current variations in the 80 Ampere specimen at the angle of seam V 60o in the amount of 0.0799 J / mm2 and in the 80 Ampere specimen in the angle of the 80o V in the seam angle of 0.0942 J / mm2. Then for the highest impact strength value variation of seam angle V group of seam angle specimen V 80o current 80 Amperes is equal to 0.0942 J / mm2 and specimen angle of seam V 80o current 100 Ampere 0.0824 J / mm2. The highest hardness value is obtained with a variation of the current specimen group of 100 Ampere in the angle of seam V 60o that is equal to 187.1 HVN and in the specimen group 100 Ampere with the angle of contact V 80o that is equal to 204.4 HVN. Then the highest hardness value variation angle seam V specimen V 80o with current 80 Amperes is equal to 191.63 HVN and specimen angle of seam V 80o with 100 amperes current that is equal to 204.4 HVN. KeyWords : SMAW, Welding current, V groove, Impact Strength, Hardness

The customers’ demand for high quality and low cost products with rising functionality forces the enterprises to cost savings. In production these cost savings can be accomplished by simplification or omission of handling operations in the process chain. In laser beam welding of stamped sheet metals a previous cleaning of the sheets is usually necessary to guarantee a sufficient seam quality at a lap joint. Due to the recent trend towards low use of lubricants in forming operations the question arises, whether this process could be avoided in order to lower the production costs. The disadvantage of this measure would be a degradation of the seam quality. This reduction shows up in a falling strength of the weld due to inclusions and pore formation. This paper deals with the impact of different types of contaminations on the quality of laser welding. Therefore several liquid (oils) and solid (metallic and non-metallic) contaminants are examined. Zinc coated sheets are investigated too, because a zinc contamination arises with these sheets in the welding operation. The zinc coating evaporates because of the high temperature and this leads to a high porosity in the welding seam. In both cases also the height of the gap between the two sheets is varied in order to investigate its influence on the weld. To reduce the effort of the investigations, but not the accuracy of the results, the laboratory trials were supported by the methods of design of experiments. After the welding operation, the quality of the welding seam is evaluated by means of its mechanical properties and tightness. The results of the investigations are discussed and the developed solution strategies are presented.

Three used PP-based car bumpers are characterized by many techniques (fractionation, IR, TGA, DSC, DMTA, and SEM). They show different impact and static and dynamic mechanical properties depending on their composition and morphology. It appears that block copolymer compatibilizers constituted by polyethylene-polypropylene sequences allow a better compatibility between the rubber domains and the PP matrix leading to relatively high impact resistance. Indeed if the ethylene sequences of the copolymer are large enough to crystallize, the decreased mobility of the whole system impairs the impact resistance. In addition, a higher amount of rubber in domains regular in shape and of greater dimension (1–3 μm) promotes a more homogeneous dispersion of external force inside the material, decreasing the risk of fracture. The amount of mineral fillers regulates the elastic modulus (the higher the load, the higher the modulus); however, a fairly good interfacial adhesion is required for satisfactory impact strength. All PP-based bumpers have been mechanically recycled in an internal mixer to redistribute oxidized species and to reestablish phase compatibilization. Recycling improves mechanical properties in slow speed test but fails to increase impact strength particularly in filled bumper, in which the quality of the matrix/filler interphase is hard to improve by simple remixing.

The aim of the paper is to analyze the contribution of the laboratory-experimental method (LEM) to the quality of students' knowledge of natural and inaccessible research. Papers were also selected to examine the comparative contribution to the quality of students' knowledge: LEM and other learning methods, that is, between student and demonstration experiments. Most of the research so far is focused on subject teaching and they are still rare in integrated science teaching. The research confirms the greater contribution of LEM than the traditional and other methods of learning about quality and durability of students' knowledge. Student experiments in most research contribute to the quality of students' knowledge more than the demonstration experiments. There is insufficient research which examines the impact of LEM on students' quality of knowledge at cognitive levels. In the teaching of most of the contents of natural science, priority should be given to the LEM method or it should be combined with other methods of learning.

BACKGROUND: The key to diversity in nursing is that nurses can provide competent nursing care to patients, within the scope of their responsibilities, regardless of the patients’ personalities or primary and secondary factors.AIM: To research which dimensions of diversity influence the attitude of nurses towards patients and the quality of nursing care.MATERIALS AND METHODS: This research study is based on the descriptive and causal non-experimental method of empirical research. The independent samples t-test was used, and the within subjects ANOVA with the Bonferroni posthoc test.RESULTS: There are statistically significant differences among the dimensions of diversity in the arithmetic means of the ratings of the impact on the quality of nursing (F (1.407, 579.658) = 103.307, p < 0.001). Based on the Bonferroni test, the impact of the “personality” dimension was rated statistically significantly higher than the impact of the dimensions of “primary factors” (p < 0.001) and “secondary factors” (p < 0.001).CONCLUSION: The diversity factors should be taken into account when developing knowledge of nurses for managing patients' diversity. In modern nursing care, the safe clinical environment needs to enable the patient to feel safe and dignified.

The butt joint of dissimilar AISI304/AISI1015 steels was produced by a Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) with 3 types of the covered electrodes and the welding current of 80-120 A. The investigation of joint properties for the impact strength, the hardness, and the microstructure, was performed. The SMAW butt joint that was welded by the E312 covered electrode and 100A welding current showed the highest impact strength of 112 J. The chromium was the important reinforced element affected to increase in the hardness and the impact strength of the joint by forming and dispersing the chromium carbide in the weld metals. Interface structure of the carbon steel/the weld metal clearly showed a small combined area of the metals in opposition to the interface structure of the stainless steel/ the weld metal which had a large combined area of the metals.

Purpose The purpose of this study was to identify levels of self-compassion in adults who do and do not stutter and to determine whether self-compassion predicts the impact of stuttering on quality of life in adults who stutter. Method Participants included 140 adults who do and do not stutter matched for age and gender. All participants completed the Self-Compassion Scale. Adults who stutter also completed the Overall Assessment of the Speaker's Experience of Stuttering. Data were analyzed for self-compassion differences between and within adults who do and do not stutter and to predict self-compassion on quality of life in adults who stutter. Results Adults who do and do not stutter exhibited no significant differences in total self-compassion, regardless of participant gender. A simple linear regression of the total self-compassion score and total Overall Assessment of the Speaker's Experience of Stuttering score showed a significant, negative linear relationship of self-compassion predicting the impact of stuttering on quality of life. Conclusions Data suggest that higher levels of self-kindness, mindfulness, and social connectedness (i.e., self-compassion) are related to reduced negative reactions to stuttering, an increased participation in daily communication situations, and an improved overall quality of life. Future research should replicate current findings and identify moderators of the self-compassion–quality of life relationship.

Lung cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers across Northern America and Europe. Treatment options offered are dependent on the type of cancer, the location of the tumor, the staging, and the overall health of the person. When surgery for lung cancer is offered, difficulty swallowing is a potential complication that can have several influencing factors. Surgical interaction with the recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) can lead to unilateral vocal cord palsy, altering swallow function and safety. Understanding whether the RLN has been preserved, damaged, or sacrificed is integral to understanding the effect on the swallow and the subsequent treatment options available. There is also the risk of post-surgical reduction of physiological reserve, which can reduce the strength and function of the swallow in addition to any surgery specific complications. As lung cancer has a limited prognosis, the clinician must also factor in the palliative phase, as this can further increase the burden of an already compromised swallow. By understanding the surgery and the implications this may have for the swallow, there is the potential to reduce the impact of post-surgical complications and so improve quality of life (QOL) for people with lung cancer.
