Background: The vision of the Indian dental association is to improve oral health and achieving optimal national oral health for all. So, the present study was aimed to improve the knowledge and practice regarding oral hygiene using STP (structured teaching programme) among selected middle school children at Udaipur.Methods: Evaluative research approach and pre-experimental, one-group pre-test, post-test designs were adopted for this study. Using a non-probability, convenient sampling technique, sixty children were recruited from the sixth and seventh standards of selected middle schools at Udaipur city. Tools included demographic data, a self-structured knowledge questionnaire and an observational checklist. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential values by IBM statistical package for social sciences (SPSS version 23) software.Results: Data revealed that there was a lack of knowledge and practice (tooth brushing technique) on oral hygiene among middle school children which can be increased by administering STP on oral hygiene. The mean and standard deviation of post-test knowledge score and practice score 15.73±1.19 and 8.41±1.66 was higher than the mean and standard deviation of pre-test knowledge score and practice score 5.11±1.14 and 4.27±179 respectively.Conclusions: Greater attention to STP on oral hygiene is needed to improve knowledge and practice (tooth brushing technique) regarding oral hygiene among middle school children.

Introduction: Basic first aid knowledge helps children to deal with emergency situations. Everyone needs to teach children about being mentally prepared for emergencies. Children should be taught about different first aid measures, both at home and at school, which helps emphasize the importance of child safety. This enables them overcome difficult situations like injuries, burns and outdoor emergencies. First aid is all about using common sense in the hour of need. Objectives of the study: To evaluate the effectiveness of self Instructional module by comparing the pretest and post test knowledge of school children. Method and Material: quantitative pre experimental one group pre test post test research design was used. by using Simple random sampling technique. This study was also done on 120 samples; data was collected by semi structured questionnaire to assess the knowledge regarding First aid and safety measure among Early Adolescent age (10-14 year). Results: The pre test means score was 10.58, standard deviation was 1.71 and the mean % was 52.9. The post test means score was 14.94, standard deviation was 1.39 and the mean % was 74.7. The difference in mean% was 21.8. The calculated ‘t’ value of 22.31 which showed high statistical significance at p<0.001 level. There was no significant association of post test level of knowledge with any of the demographic variables. Regarding First aid and safety measure. Conclusion: The present study assessed the knowledge of school children regarding first aid and safety measures, the school children had inadequate knowledge regarding first aid safety measures. After reading Self Instructional Module, there was a significant improvement in school children knowledge regarding first aid and safety measures.

Background: The skill of intravenous cannulation must be practiced regularly to maintain a high level of competency. This is important to gain quick and efficient intravenous access in populations when required. The insertion of intravenous catheters into peripheral veins is probably the most commonly performed invasive medical procedure in hospitals. This procedure could be difficult sometimes requiring several attempts and causing distress to patients. The high success rates of nurses in intravenous cannulation have been due to the frequent performance of intravenous cannulation Objectives: 1. To assess the existing knowledge regarding intravenous cannulation among staff nurses working in selected hospital. 2. To observe the existing practice regarding intravenous cannulation among nurses. 3. To assess the effectiveness of lecture cum demonstration regarding Intravenous cannulation among staff nurses. 4. To observe the practice of staff nurses regarding intravenous cannulation after lecture cum demonstration. 5. To correlate the knowledge and practice of staff nurses regarding intravenous cannulation .Methodology: Pre experimental one group pre test post test design. Material: Structured knowledge questionnaire and Observational checklist adopted as per WHO guidelines.Sample size: 60. Result: Among the 60 samples, according to age, 39(65%)of subjects were of 21-30 years of age, 14(23.33%) were of 31-40 years, 7(11.67%) were of 41-50 years and no subjects were above 50 yearsAccording to the educational qualification, 38(58.33%) of the subjects were with the qualification of general nurse midwives, 12(20%) were B.sc nursing, 13(21.67%) were PB.B.sc Nursing.Majority of the subjects 45% have work experience of less than 2 years, 23.33% have 3-5 years, 20% have 6-8 years and 11.67% of them have work experience of more than 8 years In relation to area of work, 26.67% of the subjects each were from the Medicine ward and surgical ward, 21.66%were from Intensive care unit and 25% of them were from Casualty/Emergency ward. post test majority of the subjects gained Knowledge regarding intravenous cannulation. 34 (56.67%) subjects had good level of Knowledge score and 23(43.33%) subjects had average level of Knowledge. None of the samples have poor level of Knowledge. the post test the findings shows that 57(95%) subjects had satisfactory level of practice whereas only 3(5%) of subjects had unsatisfactory level of practice. The mean pretest knowledge score was 15.28 and post test knowledge score was 26.58. The mean practice score 7.61 and posttest practice score was 13.76. Student’s paired ‘t’ test is applied at 5% level of significance and The calculated‘t’ value for overall knowledge score of subjects was 35.51 and the calculated ‘t’ value for overall practice score of subjects was 23.44 that statistically interpreted that the lecture cum demonstration regarding intravenous cannulation was effective in increasing the Knowledge and practice of subject. There was significant association between selected demographic variable of year of experience with their pretest knowledge, whereas other demographic variables are not significantly associated.The correlation coefficient of post test knowledge and post test practice score was ‘r’ 0.21, which is indicates a positive correlation. Conclusion: The knowledge of the target population was significantly increased, and there was significant improvement in the level of practice after receiving lecture cum demonstration regarding intravenous cannulation. The improvement in knowledge and practice was found in all subjects irrespective of their demographic variable

Back ground: An experimental study was conducted to assess the effects of instructional teaching programme (ITP) on knowledge and practices of mothers regarding prevention of pneumonia in children, Pooncherry, Chengalpattu District, Tamil Nadu, India.Objectives of the study were to assess the effectiveness of ITP on prevention of pneumonia on level of knowledge and practices among mothers of under five children. Materials and Methods: Non probability purposive technique was adopted for this study. Samples who met inclusion criteria were participated in the study. Self-structured interview schedule for knowledge  and structured rating scale for practices were used to collect the data. Results: The study results shows that in the pre test 15.13 % of the mothers had adequate knowledge, 24.34 % of the mothers were had moderately adequate knowledge and 60.53 % of the mothers had inadequate knowledge and  and in post test 63.17% of mothers were had adequate knowledge, 28.94% of the mothers had moderately adequate knowledge and very few (8.55% ) mothers had inadequate knowledge. Pre test practices score shows that 63.82 % of the mothers had less desirable practice, 22.37% of the mothers had moderate desirable practices and 13.81% were had highly desirable practices whereas in the post test 63.82% of them had highly desirable practice, 23.03% of them had moderate desirable practices and 13.16% of them had less desirable practices. The mean pretest knowledge score was 5.45 ± 1.47 and the mean posttest knowledge score was 8.49 ± 0.71 and the t value was 15.17, it shows that statistically there was an improvement in the post test knowledge score. The mean pretest practice score was 22.38 ± 2.76, the mean posttest practice score was 43.64 ±1.97 and the t value was 13.35, it shows that statistically there was a significant improvement in the post test practice score. The instructional teaching programme on prevention of pneumonia was statistically effective in promoting the knowledge and desirable practices among mothers.

Background: The practice of hand washing is a simple effective way to prevent infection cleaning of the hands can prevent the spread of germs and micro organisms. Hand hygiene is recognized as a leading measure to prevent cross –transmission of microorganism. Infection due to microbes is a evolving problem in worldwide and horizontal transmission of bacterial organisms to cause a high mortality rate increased. Hand washing with soap and water can prevent a significant proportion of childhood diarrhoea and respiratory infections, the two main global causes of child mortality.  Objectives: The objectives were to assess the existing level of knowledge and practice of school going children on hand washing, to find out the correlation between level of knowledge and practice on hand washing among school going children and to find out the association between level of knowledge and practices of school going children on hand washing with their selected demographic variables. Methods: A quantitative evaluative approach with descriptive research design was adopted. 50 school going children were selected by the purposive sampling technique. Results:  The collected data was tabulated and analyzed. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used. In the level of knowledge majority of the school going children (52%) had inadequate knowledge, 28% of them were had moderately adequate knowledge and only 20% of them had adequate knowledge. The mean knowledge score on hand washing was 10.4 and the standard deviation was 4.31. The mean practice score on hand washing was 21.52 and the standard deviation was 7.4. Conclusion: The study results shows that most of the school children were having inadequate knowledge and less desirable practices of hand washing. A structured teaching program on hand washing is very important for incorporating the knowledge among school children.

Abstract Background Good oral health (OH) is essential for physical, social, mental health, and overall quality of life. This study assessed the usefulness of the theory of planned behavior (TPB) in changing oral health-related behaviors among school children aged 11–13 years in Saveh, Iran. Methods In this descriptive before and after study, participants were sixth-grade students at single sex primary schools in Saveh city, Iran. We recruited 356 school children in 2019. Using simple random sampling, a male and a female school per district were allocated to the experimental group and the remaining schools to the control group. Our planned oral health education consisted of four one-hour training sessions over 1 week. The first session familiarized the participants with important information about OH. In the second session, we applied a brain storming exercise to identify the benefits and barriers to flossing and brushing. In the third session, a short film about correct brushing and dental flossing technique was shown and research team also used role-playing to correct any mistakes. In the final session students were taught about the importance and the application of OH planning and given forms to help plan for brushing. Results Participants for the study included 356 students (180 in the experimental group and 176 in the control group) who completed the post-test questionnaire. The mean age ± standard deviation was 11.55 years ±0.93 in the experimental group and 11.58 years ±1.01 in the control group. After the intervention, the paired t-test indicated a significant difference between the mean and standard deviation of the action plan and coping plan constructs in the experimental group before and after the intervention (p < 0.05). Covariance analysis indicated a significant difference between scores of intervention and control groups under statistical control of post-test in two groups (covariate) after a peer-led education program (post-test) (p < 0.05). Conclusion A shortage of professional health workers in education settings together with the ease, usefulness and low-cost of this peer-led method, suggest further steps should be taken to implement it more widely to improve and enhance primary school aged students’ oral health behavior.

Background: Puerperal sepsis is a postpartum complication, occurs when a recently delivered mother gets an infection while giving birth due to unhygienic practices and poor quality healthcare. If not treated properly in time may lead to death. Lack of awareness among healthcare providers can lead to higher rates of infection. Objective: To assess the effectiveness of information booklet on knowledge regarding puerperal sepsis and its prevention among nurses working in selected hospitals of Kamrup (M), Assam. Methods: The pre experimental one group pre-test post-test research designed was adopted in the study. 100 nurses were selected as sample by using convenience sampling technique in selected hospitals of Kamrup (M), Assam. To assess the nurses’ knowledge regarding puerperal sepsis and its prevention structured knowledge questionnaire was used. Results: In pre-test, the mean knowledge score was 11.76 with standard deviation 2.90. In post-test, the mean knowledge score was 19.81 with standard deviation 1.96. The calculated paired t test value of t = 33.352 was found to be statistically significant at p<0.001. Hence, information booklet on puerperal sepsis was found to be effective in improving the knowledge regarding puerperal sepsis and its prevention. There was significant association between pre-test knowledge regarding puerperal sepsis and its prevention and educational qualification. Conclusions: Majority of the nurses gained knowledge after referring the information booklet. Hence, awareness program in regular period will help in improving knowledge regarding puerperal sepsis among nurses to provide quality health care for a healthy society. Aim: to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge and attitude regarding vitamin A deficiency and its prophylaxis among mothers of under five children. Objectives: (1). To assess the knowledge and attitude among mothers of under five children on vitamin A deficiency and its Prophylaxis. (2). To find the effectiveness of Structured Teaching Programme in terms of gaining knowledge and attitude of mothers regarding Vitamin A deficiency and its prophylaxis for under five children. (3). To find association between the pre test level of knowledge and attitude among mothers of under five children with their selected demographic variables. Methodology: A pre experimental research design was adopted for the study. 50 samples were selected by using non probability convenience sampling technique. The pre and post test level knowledge and attitude was assessed by using structured knowledge questionnaires and attitude scale respectively. Results: The pre test mean was 7.76 with the standard deviation of 2.17 and the post test mean was 16.68 with the standard deviation of 1.81. The mean difference of pre and post test is 8.92; standard error is 0.281. The ‘T’ value is 31.74 is Highly Significant at p<0.05.The pre test mean was 8.98 with the standard deviation of 3.47 and the post test mean was 24.56 with the standard deviation of 3.45. The mean difference of pre and post test is 15.58; standard error is 0.43. The ‘T’ value is 36.23 is Highly Significant p<0.05. Hence it indicates the knowledge and attitude level of mothers are improved after structured teaching programme. Conclusion: The study concluded that structured teaching programme was effective and improved knowledge and attitude regarding vitamin A deficiency and its prophylaxis among mothers of under five children. Background: Most commonly severe congenital anomalies (CA) are heart defects, neural tube defects, and Down syndrome where some CA can be prevented. The present study was aimed to improve the knowledge regarding the prevention of CA using a health communication programme (HCP) among parents in selected community area at Udaipur.Methods: Evaluative research approach and pre-experimental, one-group pre-test - post-test research designs were adopted for this study. Using a non-probability, convenient sampling technique, sixty parents were recruited from the selected community area at Udaipur city. Tools include demographic data and a self-structured knowledge questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential values by IBM statistical package for social sciences (SPSS; version 23) software.Results: Data revealed that there is a lack of knowledge regarding the prevention of CA among parents and this knowledge can be increased by administering HCP on prevention of CA. The mean and standard deviation of post-test knowledge score 23.63±10.5 was higher than the mean and standard deviation of pre-test knowledge score 9.97±13.1.Conclusions: It is required to focus on HCP to improve the knowledge regarding the prevention of CA among parents in the community.

Introduction: Stem cells have tremendous promise to helping us to understand and treat a range of various diseases, injuries and other health related conditions. Their potential is evident in the use of cord blood stem cells to treat diseases of the blood, A cord blood stem cells therapy has saved the lives of thousands of children with leukemia and can be seen in the use of stem cells for tissue grafts to treat diseases or injury to the bone, skin and surface of the eye. Materials and Methods: This pre-experimental study was conducted on eligible couples with sample size of age between 15-45 years, willingness to participate in study in selected areas of Ahmedabad. The investigator adopted purposive technique to select sample. Data was collected using 4 demographic variables & 20 questionnaires regarding stem cells, its uses, diseases treated by stem cells & stem cell banking were included. A pre-test was conducted on 40 samples after which the planned teaching programme was implemented followed by the post test. Result: Data gathered was analyzed and interpreted using both experimental and inferential statistics. The mean and SD of pre-test was 5.725 and 1.3957, whereas the mean and SD of post- test was 16.25 and 1.1036, the calculated t value was greater than tabulated t value. Hence the null hypothesis was rejected and the research hypothesis was accepted. The result shows that when planned teaching program was given to eligible couples age group people, they achieve the best scores. Conclusion: This Study intends to assess the effectiveness on plan teaching program regarding stem cells among eligible couple in selected areas of Ahmedabad. This Study reveals that the post-test knowledge score is higher than the pre-test knowledge score regarding stem cells storage, stem cells banking among the eligible couple.
