Educational institutions worldwide are undergoing fundamental shifts in how they operate and interact with their “customers”, students, alumni, donors, and faculty members. Higher education, especially the management education has been changing rapidly and educational institutions are compelled to focus and shift their strategies on student community, faculty members, and industrial organizations so that they remain relevant to the society at large. A nation can remain competitive and its economy can continue grow, only if the quality of knowledge provided by higher education institutions becomes meaningful. Technological, economic, sociological, and governmental forces are altering education dramatically, impacting its institutions, teachers, students, funding sources, and basic function in society. To unlock potential and help talented people to gain advanced training, whatever their background, requires customer-centric approach to education.

Industry and educational institutions are increasingly dependent on each other in terms of their productivity and performance. This paper reports and analyses the findings of a survey designed to ascertain the extent of industry's support for education in India and companies' attitudes towards the provision of that support. Although various forms of business support for education are identified and discussed, the author's overall assessment indicates that, in spite of the very substantial mutual benefits of cooperation, interaction between higher education institutions and companies remains at a low level in India – and this threatens educational and industrial development. In this context, he describes the major impediments to industrial support for and involvement in educational programmes and recommends a series of policy and strategic measures for government, HEIs, and business organizations which would address the constraints and disincentives identified.

Social media tools are observed to play a vital role in the renovation of the conventional teaching and learning practices across the globe. Though primarily developed for online social communication, social media platforms tend to possess suitable tools that can be used for instructional purposes in order to initiate active learning among students. Additionally, the social publishing features that support User Generated Content (UGC) act as powerful drivers in converting social media sites into informal, networked and constructive virtual learning environments. The present study aims to analyse the use of social media platforms for educational purposes in developing nations such as India. The study intends to examine the penetration and reception of social media platforms in higher educational institutions in urban as well as the technologically deprived rural areas. An extensive survey was conducted among the faculty members in the higher educational institutions in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. The research reveals the present diffusion level of social software in the academic sector of Tamil Nadu, a state containing a varied technological landscape due to its internal digital divide and many other infrastructural discrepancies. Additionally, factors that induce and the barriers that affect the pedagogical employment of social media tools by the higher education faculty members have been identified.

There is a lot of research in the area of stress. The studies consider that the stressors vary according to the environment. With the changing environment, the higher education institutions also need to develop their competitive advantage and hence make it challenging for the stakeholders, especially the faculty members to contribute towards the competitive advantage. This leads to stress amongst the faculty members. The current paper is an exploratory research to investigate the role stressors of the faculty members of various universities from different countries. The research is based on Organizational Role Stress Instrument of Udai Pareek (2002).

Despite very low research involvement and productivity of its faculty, research activities are not totally absent at Cambodian higher education institutions. This study seeks to diagnose influential factors that differentiate between Cambodian faculty who get involved in research activities and those who do not, with special emphases placed on involvement in research activities that are decently context-specific. Self-reported survey questionnaires were administered to faculty at ten selected Cambodian universities; the total sample (with usable returned questionnaire sets) amounted to 444 faculty members. Drawing on logistic regression analysis, the study detected that faculty obtaining their terminal degrees abroad, being full-timers, spending more time on research, and having high research self-efficacy were more likely to engage in research activities. As for institutional characteristics, large faculty size and available research funding sources were also correlated with research involvement. This study situates the findings in the research context of Cambodian higher education and discusses the practical meanings that the statistically significant variables imply.
