The objective of this study was to identify the causes of the turnover process in the city of Viçosa-AL. For this, it was held a descriptive and qualitative study aiming to identify, by means of the perception of managers and contributors, the reasons for process of turnover of micro and small businesses in the commercial sector. It was identified that elements of professional qualification, existence of new job opportunities, quality of life at work, perception of success in the career and the process of recruitment and selection influence on the process of turnover. The age element has demonstrated not to be an influencer on this process. Findings of the study also identified that the satisfaction at work, dissatisfaction with the manager, bad resourcefulness as a professional and discontinuity in the rhythm of work also contribute to the turnover process. A  managers' contribution to this study was helping to elencare the main flaws of controlling the process of turnover in trade in a vision from collaborators and managers, showing both sides of the working relationship. From an academic point of view, this study collaborates with the understanding of the turnover process, offering two visions - supposedly antagonistic -, besides conducting a research in trade without restriction of business branches. As a contribution to future studies, there is a suggestion of deeping the question embracing other sectors to verify if there is a difference in the managers and employees’ perception from different sectors.

Entrepreneurship is an issue that has positioned itself as a key element for decision-making by governments, in their aspiration to generate new alternatives for progress. Its involvement in education has led international organizations to consider it within their action plans. In the case of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, its incorporation is in sight, especially in high school. Law 1014 of 2006 in Colombia supports the entrepreneurship class at schools in the country, intending to motivate processes that increase job opportunities and improve the quality of life of the society. However, according to this law, the responsibility of leading concrete actions in the classrooms falls on the teachers who, despite the lack of training in entrepreneurship at the university degrees, courageously assume this challenge. Considering  this situation, it is important to generate a discussion from the teachers' point of view in the framework of a qualitative investigation, through interviews and documentary analysis, configures an inquiry resulting from the approach to their experiences, concerns and needs for a quality teacher training, that assumes entrepreneurship based on the demands of the new millennium. Hence, this reflection article is inclined to present the tasks aimed at the implementation of entrepreneurship in high school, from the experience of the teachers and instructors of the National Learning Service, through an approach to the reality of some schools in the city of Bogota. As a result, it was possible to demonstrate their efforts, learn about their implementation style and uncover this immense field to explore within the lack of training offered by universities and institutions in charge of providing training to teachers and those who are being prepared to become ones.

A 3-year long survey was conducted in the Tshwane geographical region of Gauteng Province in South Africa in order to identify and quantify key predictors of adequate municipal services that are routinely provided to customers who operate newly established small businesses in the City of Tshwane, Pretoria, South Africa. Data was collected by using a structured, pre-tested and validated questionnaire of study from a stratified random sample of size 1, 058 small businesses. The key objective of study was to assess the relationship between viability in small businesses and the provision of quality municipal services by the City of Tshwane. The study was conducted against the background of a high failure rate among newly established small businesses in the City of Tshwane. The study was conducted over a 3-year period (2012 to 2014). Data was collected monthly during the three-year period of study on socioeconomic variables that are known to affect the perception of business operators on the quality of municipal services to business operators and the general public. Statistical procedures such as cross-tab analyses, panel data analysis, Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithms and Bayesian methods were used for estimating parameters. The study showed that there was a significant association between positive perception of business operators on the quality of municipal services provided to them and viability of businesses. The results showed that 87% of viable businesses were satisfied with the quality of routine municipal services that were provided to them by the City of Tshwane. The corresponding figure for non-viable businesses was only 14%. The viability of businesses was significantly influenced by 3 predictor variables. These predictor variables were: lack of capacity for fulfilling the business and entrepreneurial needs of newly established businesses [Hazard Ratio = 3.58; P=0.000; 95% C. I. = (1.45, 5.46)], inappropriate policy [Hazard Ratio = 3.19; P=0.000; 95% C. I. = (1.39, 5.28)], and lack of tailor made training programmes directed at newly established small businesses [Hazard Ratio = 2.89; P=0.000; 95% C. I. = (1.24, 4.77)], in a decreasing order of strength. Similar findings were obtained from the analyses of in-depth interviews.

The wide availability of accurate sensors currently hosted by smartphones are enabling new participative urban management opportunities. Mobile crowdsensing (MCS) allows people to actively participate in any aspect of urban planning, by collecting and sharing data, reporting issues to public administrations, proposing solutions to urban planners, and delivering information of potential social interest to their community. Although collected data can be very helpful to enhance the quality of life of citizens, mobile users are still reluctant to use their devices to take advantages of the opportunities offered by the digitized society, mainly due to privacy issues. From August to December 2018, the city of Florianópolis, capital of Santa Catarina, in southern Brazil, was used as a living lab environment for an MCS application called ParticipACT Brazil, a socio/technical-aware crowdsensing platform. While the current literature focuses on MCS from a purely technical point of view, this research demonstrated that a multidisciplinary approach that includes both human sciences and ICT is needed in order to better identify critical issues, highlights the untapped potential of MCS paradigm, and suggests research methodologies that could provide benefits for all the actors involved (researchers, public administrators, and citizens).

The article presents the results of a sociological study of municipal public policy conducted in the federal city of Sevastopol in 2020. Methodologically, the study was based on an index approach based on the participation of different groups of local experts and specialists in the process of evaluating the work of institutions and mechanisms, as well as the activities of public policy actors. According to the obtained index assessment of the state of public policy in the municipal districts of Sevastopol, we can talk about an almost consolidated type of public policy, when the estimated positions of two groups of respondents (representatives of municipal authorities, small and medium-sized businesses) are consolidated, and the indices of employees of municipal unitary enterprises and the NGO community differ slightly from them. From the point of view of the characteristics of the institutional status of local public policy, the highest scores in solidarity with all groups of respondents given the quality of the functioning of national harmony and tolerance of religions and faiths, of institutions, municipal elections and education. Institutions for the protection of private and municipal property, as well as the functioning of a website for collecting proposals from residents of the city, received solidly low ratings. And the worst rating is given to healthcare institutions. From the point of view of the subject cross-section of municipal public policy in the municipal districts of Sevastopol, there is a more pessimistic assessment of the activities of subjects and actors on the part of local authorities and employees of municipal unitary enterprises. Representatives of the NGO community and, to a lesser extent, business gave more optimistic assessments. The development of the subject potential of participants in public interaction in the city will require targeted program work to improve the skills of local self-government entities, to resolve the problems of redistribution of powers between the state bodies of Sevastopol and the authorities of municipalities and to provide the latter with financial resources, to transfer property to municipalities.
