The study examined the extent of Academic Achievement of Day and Boarding Secondary Schools Students in Onitsha Education Zone of Anambra State. Three research questions guided the study and survey research design was adopted. Descriptive survey research design was used for the study. The population of the study consisted 850 teachers within Onitsha Education Zone in Anambra State. The sample size consisted 85 teachers and was selected using simple random sampling. The instrument used for data collection was questionnaire and the data collected were analyzed with mean. The findings revealed that boarding students academically achieve better than day students and that day students are distracted at home unlike boarding school students who are under the control of teachers for their study. It was concluded that lack of finance, educational facilities and inadequate infrastructures are the factors that affect the academic achievement of both the day and boarding students. The researchers recommended among others that students should be allowed to attend boarding schools so as to perform better and that government should intervene in schools by providing them with academic and boarding facilities

Aims: To determine the impact of subsidized Free Day Secondary Education funding on student enrolment and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) academic achievement in Gucha South schools. Study Design: Descriptive survey research design. Place and Duration of Study: Public day secondary schools in Gucha South Sub-County, Kisii County, Kenya. Study was conducted during January 2016 to April 2016. Methodology: A descriptive survey research design was used to collect data from public day secondary schools in Gucha South Sub-County. Study population comprised of 323 subjects: 35 principals, 280 teachers, one Sub-County Director of Education and 7 Zonal Quality and Standards Officers (ZQASOs) in the Sub-County. 30% of the study population subjects were randomly sampled to give 11 principals, 84 teachers, 2 ZQASOS and one Sub-County Director of Education (SCDE) hence a total of 98 respondents. Structured questionnaires and Interview schedules were used to collect data from the sampled respondents. Qualitative data collected from interviews and open-ended questions were analysed using meanings and implications coming from respondents. Quantitative data was analysed using descriptive statistics in the form of frequency counts, means and percentages. Impact of the Free Day Secondary Education (FDSE) funding on academic achievement was measured in the KCSE grading whereby a lower to higher level reflected a positive impact. Results: Student enrollment rose from an average of 117 per school in 2008 to 212 in 2012. KCSE achievement improved over the years from a mean score of 3.25 in 2008 to 4.50 in 2012. Conclusion: FDSE policy is a worthy initiative for it enhanced access to education, increased student enrollment as well as improved the academic achievement of learners through a positive deviation of the mean in KCSE from lower to upper grades.

Developing academic goals amongst students is a key aspect for achieving excellence across schools in Malaysia. It is meant to act as a benchmark to determine the effectiveness of a principal’s leadership. The leadership of a principal, and the school’s climate are the main issues which drive the achievement of students across national secondary schools (SMK) in Malaysia. This quantitative study aims to examine the influence and role of a principal’s leadership on the school climate, as well as its impact on the student’s academic achievement in domestic national secondary schools nationals on the East Coast of Malaysia. A total of 348 teachers were selected across vocational schools in the states of Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang, through the use of simple random sampling, for the purpose of quantitative reviews. The researchers used the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) to measure the leadership aspects of the principals, and the Organizational Health Inventory (OHI-M) to measure the climate of the school, as well as the achievement of academic students, which was measured using the CGPA of the schools in the examination areas over the last three years. The analysis of descriptive traits, for example, the number, percentage, scoring average, and the standard deviation was used to describe the demographics of the respondents, and analyse the data using regression, Pearson t-test correlations, and ANOVA. This helped to understand several key leadership factors, i.e., the International Transform Leadership, Tran Witness Leadership, Laissez-Faire Leadership, School Climate , and the Academic Achievement of the hypothesis testing, which was built according to the obtained statistics . The findings showed that the principal’s leadership influenced the climate across the school, and the achievement of the students. Therefore, it was proposed that the principal’s leadership needs to adopt the Transformational leadership, Transactional leadership, and Laissez-faire leadership as a guide in managing the school’s climate, especially in ensuring the teacher’s commitments, and the Student Academic Achievements, which can be further enhanced in line with the Malaysian Education Quality Standards 2010 (SKPM), and the Malaysian Education Development Plan 2013 -2025.

Research findings in secondary schools have consistently indicated that geometry is one of the most difficult areas of Mathematics at basic level and students’ attitude towards it has been a factor that is known to influence students’ achievement in mathematics. The purpose of this study is to investigate the level of students’ attitude towards geometry and to find out whether gender difference influences such attitude. Some selected secondary schools in Zamfara state were used for the study. The study adopted a descriptive survey design using a questionnaire tagged Geometric Attitude Questionnaire. The population of the study consisted of SS I students in Zamfara state. A sample of 157students was drawn using simple random sampling technique. Descriptive statistics of means and standard deviations were used to answer the research questions while Inferential Statistics of the Mann-Whitney test was used to test the formulated hypothesis. The study revealed that students’ attitude towards geometry was relatively high generally, with male students having much higher positive attitude to geometry than their female counterparts and that difference between them was not statistically significant at α = 0.05 level of significance. It is recommended that teachers should be resourceful in encouraging and helping students in order to build positive attitude by trying to relate geometry to real life situations and also be gender sensitive.

Virtual reality is an emerging technology designed to provide interaction between a user and artificially generated environments. However, most teachers in Nigeria are not aware of how virtual reality can be widely used for educational purposes. The study investigated (i) awareness of teachers towards the use of virtual reality for instructional purpose and influence of gender and experience on teachers� awareness of virtual reality for instructional purpose. Descriptive survey research design was adopted for this study. 360 computer teachers were sampled from secondary schools across Kwara State with the use of researchs-developed questionnaire. The findings established that Virtual Bicycle and 3D Map world are the virtual reality facilities which most respondents are of aware for instructional purpose; and there was no significant difference between teachers� awareness of VR for instructional purpose based on gender and experience. It was thus recommended that seminars and training could also be organised for teachers on how to use VR to facilitate their teaching in and outside the classroom environment.Keywords: awareness; computer teachers; virtual reality; gender; experience; instructional purposes.

Early childhood educators have traditionally linked school success to parental involvement and they frequently fail to establish strong links between home and school. This study sought to establish the correlation between parents’ decision making in school and school-community linkages in public primary schools in Eldoret East Sub County. The study adopted the Ecological Systems Theory on child’s development within the context of the system of relationships that form his or her environment. This study adopted a descriptive survey research design. Descriptive survey research design was adopted because it was appropriate for obtaining factual information about the correlation between parent’s decision making in school and school-community linkages in public primary schools in Eldoret East Sub County. This study used a descriptive survey research design. The sample size comprised of 30 head teachers, 240 teachers and 30 school chairpersons. Simple random sampling was used to select teachers, while purposive sampling was used to select head teachers and SMC chairpersons. Questionnaires were used to collect data. The data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS V. 24) computer program and presented using tables. The findings revealed that there was a positive relationship between the decision making and school-community linkages [r=.774, n=264, p<.05]. The study concluded that the parents’ contribution in decision making helps the schools achieve higher grades and test scores, improve their school attendance and increased motivation of pupils. The families play an active involvement in school decisions and governance and the families participate in school as volunteers and committee members. The study recommends that the recognition of the primary roles of parents as vital members of the decision-making body in the schools.

The study is intended to explore COVID-19 information seeking and utilization among women in Warri Metropolis, Delta State, Nigeria. Descriptive survey research design was adopted using a self-constructed questionnaire to collect data. Data were analyzed using simple percentages. Findings revealed that a majority of the women need information on COVID-19 preventive measures, followed by causes of the pandemic; Internet is the source of COVID-19 information used by the highest number of respondents, followed by television and social media; a majority of them consider the authority of the source of the information on coronavirus followed by usefulness of the information; a majority access COVID-19 information to enable them identify symptoms of the disease followed by protection against COVID-19 infection while concern for reliability of much of the available information on the pandemic was a major barrier to their utilization of COVID-19 information. It is recommended that effort should be made by government to get mobile network operators to reduce network tariff.

The seeming teacher turnover in secondary schools in Nigeria necessitated this study on mentoring practices of principals for teachers’ retention in public secondary schools in Anambra State. The study adopted the descriptive survey research design. One research question guided the study. The population of the study comprised 256 principals and the entire population was used for the study. Researchers’ developed questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection. The instrument was validated by three experts, two in Educational measurement and evaluation, Department of Educational Foundation and the other in Educational planning and management, Educational Management and Policy, all in the Faculty of Education Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. The Cronbach’s alpha method was used to determine the internal consistency of the items which yielded a reliability coefficient of 0.75. The researchers with the help of ten research assistants distributed and successfully collected 256 copies of the questionnaire administered. The research question was answered using the arithmetic mean. It was found among others that principals in public secondary schools in Anambra state use formal and informal mentoring to a very low extent for teachers’ retention. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended among others that government should provide adequate resources necessary for effective mentoring programme in secondary schools in Anambra State.

The purpose of study is the assessment of global Covid-19 on small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs) with the case of Technological Incubation Centre (TIC), Ibadan. Three research objectives were raised. A descriptive survey research design was used. The population of the study is 29 (twenty-nine). Total Census survey was adopted as the sampling technique. SPSS software 20 analysis was used to analyze the data. The study concluded that, there has been increase in all the inputs needed for the production processes at the Centre. Therefore, sales of goods at the period of the Covid-19 have been negatively affected, which has similarly impacted on employment generation. It’s recommended that the management of the TIC should assist the businesses to mitigate the adverse effect of the Covid-19; while the Nigerian government should consider the SMEs as an important sub-sector that could restore the economy to the period of better economic growth.

<p>The use of drama rehearsals as a tool for inculcating discipline among students had been investigated by a number of scholars and education practitioners on global, continental and regional levels. However notable that drama rehearsals as a tool for inculcating discipline could be overlooked as a result of its demands, such as time. Therefore, purpose of the study was to determine effectiveness of drama rehearsals as a strategy in the management of discipline in secondary schools in central region, Kenya. The study used descriptive survey design. The target population was 79 deputy principals, 79 drama teachers, and 1888 drama students and non-drama students in secondary school in Central Region, Kenya. Both the census technique and random sampling were used to get a representative sample size of 419 respondents. Data was collected from the respondents using pretested questionnaires and was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Scientists (SPSS) and then interpreted. The study found that the relationship between drama rehearsals and management of discipline among secondary school students was significant. The study therefore recommended that there was need to for school administrators to facilitate more drama rehearsals in order to improve the levels of discipline among students. The purpose of this study was to ascertain principals’ learning resources managerial practices for the implementation of entrepreneurship studies in public and private secondary school in Anambra State. One research question and one hypothesis guided the study. This study was conducted in public and private secondary school in Anambra State. The descriptive survey research design was adopted for this study. The population for this study is 16,727 respondents made up of 481 principals and 9,697 teachers from the 481 private secondary schools and 256 principals and 6,293 teachers from the 256 public secondary schools in Anambra state. The sample size for this study is 1,332 respondents drawn from public and private secondary schools in Anambra state. The multi-stage sampling technique was utilized to arrive at the sample size. The first stage involved randomly drawing three education zones out of the six education zones in Anambra state. Accordingly, Aguata, Awka, and Nnewi zones were drawn using simple random sampling technique balloting with replacement. The second stage involved the use of proportionate stratified sampling technique to draw 74 secondary schools from the three education zones, consisting of 26 public and 48 private secondary schools. Each zone was regarded as a stratum. From each stratum, 10% of principals and teachers were sampled from the public and private secondary schools in the stratum. Researcher-developed instrument was the instrument for data collection. The validity of the instrument was determined using three lecturers. The reliability of the questionnaire was determined using respondents from Enugu State
