RESUMO A dinâmica e a emergência de novos conhecimentos exige que se construam novos sistemas de organização de conhecimento e se revejam outros, para a sua localização e acesso. Nesse processo, as estruturas de organização do conhecimento assumem particular relevância como instrumentos eficazes de efetuar esses propósitos. Pela sua longevidade, destacam-se as classificações bibliográficas, entre as quais a Classificação Decimal de Dewey (CDD) e a Classificação Decimal Universal (CDU). Propõe-se como objetivo identificar como esses dois sistemas representam o conceito mulher e se tal pode ser considerado indicador de duas perspetivas sobre o mesmo conceito. Adotou-se uma abordagem qualitativa exploratória, baseada na revisão da literatura e análise comparativa da representação desse conceito nos dois sistemas considerados. Não se observam duas perspetivas diferentes em relação ao conceito mulher, os dois sistemas continuam a traduzir a mentalidade positivista na qual foram concebidas. É evidente a reduzida representatividade do conceito mulher nos dois sistemas de classificação no que se refere à exaustividade e à especificidade. Os dois sistemas refletem a noção de mulher num plano depreciativo e inferior à masculina, traduzindo o estereótipo tradicional.Palavras-chave: Mulher; Classificação Decimal Dewey (CDD); Classificação Decimal Universal (CDU).ABSTRACT The dynamics and emergence of new knowledge requires building new knowledge organization systems and reviewing others for the location and access of knowledege. In this process the structures of knowledge organization assume particular relevance, as effective instruments to accomplish these purposes. For its longevity, the bibliographical classifications stand out and among them particularly the Dewey Decimal Classification (CDD) and the Universal Decimal Classification (CDU). It is proposed to identify how these two systems represent the concept of woman and whether this can be considered as an indicator of two perspectives on the same concept. A qualitative exploratory approach was adopted, based on literature review and comparative analysis of the representation of this concept in the two systems considered. Two different perspectives are not observed in relation to the woman’s concept, because the two systems continue to translate the positivist mentality in which they were conceived. The low representativeness of the concept of woman in the two classification systems is evident with regard to exhaustivity and specificity. Both systems reflect the notion of woman in a depreciative and inferior plan to the masculine, translating the traditional stereotype.Keywords: Woman; Dewey Decimal Classification; Universal Decimal Classification.

This Paper Presents a Classification System for Managing and Indexing Hardcopy Engineering Drawings, Referred to, in this Paper, as Drawings Library Management System (DLMS), Developed for an Appropriate Technology Research Centre in Botswana. the System Is Akin to Common Library Cataloguing and Classification Systems such as the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC), Universal Decimal Classification and Others, which, though Are Well-Known and Have Been around for many Years, Are yet to Be Exploited for the Classification and Management of Paper Drawings. in Fact, Hardcopy Drawings Appear to Be Neglected Compared to the Softcopy Type, for which Various Scholarly Articles Have Been Done on their Classification, Retrieval and Management. this Is Unfortunate as, Invariably, it Is Hardcopy/paper Drawings that Are Mostly Used in Production, Especially in Developing Countries where the Power of CAD/CAM Is yet to Be Fully Harnessed. Accordingly, the DLMS, a Model Successfully Used in a Research Centre in Botswana for over Ten Years Is Proposed.The System Was Further Analysed against and Compared to Three Main Library Classification Systems, Namely, the Dewey Decimal, the Universal Decimal and the Library of Congress Systems. Results Show that the DLMS Is a Better Classification System for Managing Hardcopy Drawings.

This chapter intends to study reference models for the development of knowledge organization systems (KOS) to evaluate their effectiveness and their modeling capacity through a comparison of requirements. The tools for the development of technological knowledge management systems that will be compared are Reference Model for an Open Archival Information System (OAIS), Modular Requirements for Records Systems (MoReq), and The Digital Library Reference Model. Through a comparative analysis of these instruments, it is proposed to evaluate and compare their main requirements. The planning of technological systems based on these standards/requirements brings guarantees of a correct use of classifications, thesauri, ontologies, among other types of KOS. They also promote their configuration in technological systems and regarding the business processes in which these technological systems are used.

The description of the most widespread universal library classifications (Decimal Classification of D'yui (DKD), Universal Decimal Classification (UDK), Classification of Library of Congress (KBK), Library-Bibliographic Classification (BBK)) are analysed in the article. Histories of these systems development and features of their use in modern informative services as well as the example of construction of electronic library classifiers on the base of the library classifications of DKD and KBK are given.

Viewpoint warrant in transdisciplinary knowledge organization: This doctoral thesis report on original research employed to organize knowledge and provide documentational support in the field of bioethics. More particularly, this doctoral thesis confronts the problem of perspectival ambiguity in bioethics by considering the notion of perspectives as points of access to diverse outlooks on particular phenomena. Knowledge organization as a discipline of library and information sciences has a long research and professional tradition. In the last 25 years a growing number of authors researching interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary knowledge organization are restating and emphasising the problem of the disciplinary foundations of traditional knowledge organisation systems. These foundations is apparent in the very structures of the most accomplished systems like the Universal Decimal Classification. The critique is focused on the monodimensionality and monoperspectivity of traditional systems, and is characterized by a distinct evocation of the concept of perspectives and advocacy for the development of multi-perspective knowledge organization. According to those authors traditional systems can't respond to the needs of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary researchers. This doctoral thesis deals with viewpoint warrant in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary knowledge organization in the context of a specific inter- and transdiscipline of integrative bioethics.

Due to certification of GOST P 7.0.90-2016 regulating structure, rules of maintaining and indexing on the Universal Decimal Classification (UDC) information of system in general, of the UDC Consortium, the place which occupies UDC in the world is given. It is told also about M. Dewey Decimal classification (DDC) and activities of International society for knowledge organization (ISKO). The structure of the standard is in detail considered, a number of correctly notes on the applied terminology indicated. Recently published guide books which can be used for profound studying of classification systems and technology of indexing are listed. At the end of article the author says about why all librarians should know UDC. Influence of this system on further development of the theory and practice of classification is huge. Article in general is aimed at the development of classification culture.

Classification systems are published primarily in the book form, for various purposes and in different versions. They are identified by the number or year of publication. The authors propose another variant of maintaining classification systems, i.e. in the card format.The authors discuss the issues of presenting classification schedules of popular classification systems on the Internet with special focus on their applications. They explain why privately owned classification systems, like Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) and Universal Decimal Classification (UDC), are not published on the Internet, while the systems supported by government organizations (e.g. national libraries) are traditionally published openly. The authors provide the example of the Library of Congress Classification (LCC), which is the United States’ National Classification System and which is published on open access. The project of the open presentation of the Library-Bibliographical Classification (LBC) in several versions supplemented with indices on the website of the Russian State Library (RSL) is described in more detail. The possibilities for their use are analyzed.

This study analyzes the differences between the category structure of the Universal Decimal Classification (UDC) system (which is one of the widely used library classification systems in Europe) and Wikipedia. In particular, the authors compare the emerging structure of category-links to the structure of classes in the UDC. The authors scrutinize the question of how knowledge maps of the same domain differ when they are created socially (i.e. Wikipedia) as opposed to when they are created formally (UDC) using classification theory. As a case study, we focus on the category of “Arts”.

Informatization of education has been going on for 30 years. During this time, a good material and technical base appeared in schools, there are repositories of e-learning resources to which teachers have access. However, it is difficult to use these e-learning resources due to their too large number and not always high level. It is advisable to introduce a system of reviews and recommendations, to conduct a comparative analysis, as well as to make reviews of resources on a particular subject/topic. In addition, the demand for e-learning resources is affected by the fact that education authorities encourage not so much the use of e-learning resources as their development by the teacher himself. In general, the load on teachers has increased instead of the promised saving of time and effort when using the e-learning resources. At the same time, many e-learning resources are not very effective, since they do not meet the requirements of cognitiveness (they contribute not to learning, but to simple memorization of the material). It is necessary to explore the process of learning new material: this will allow you to create cognitive e-learning resources and other resources that would help you with equal probability to successfully acquire new knowledge for students belonging to different psycho-types. At the initial stage of the study of any subject, it is more expedient to use the usual “paper” method, that is, a textbook and not overload the student’s brain with excessive information. Only when he has mastered the basic provisions, we can turn to e-learning resources, bearing in mind that they must be cognitive, that is, they are aimed at logical perception and rapid intuitive learning, only in this case e-learning resources can be considered effective. The conclusion is formulated that cognitiveness is the next stage of informatization of education after the stage of electronization.
