The aim of this study was to determine the learning styles of prospective chemistry and science teachers, and to examine the effects of different learning styles on their self-regulated learning skills. The survey method which is one of the quantitative research methods was used in this study. A total of 251 prospective chemistry and science teachers from the Departments of Chemistry and Science Education of three different public universities participated in the study. The Self-Regulated Learning Skills Scale was used to determine the self-regulated learning skills of the prospective teachers, and the ‘Maggie McVay Lynch Learning Style Inventory’ was used to determine the prospective teachers’ learning styles. The results showed that 61.8% of prospective chemistry and science teachers had a visual learning style, followed by a moving or kinaesthetic learning style (19.9%) and an auditory learning style (18.3%). Furthermore, a statistically significant difference was determined in the prospective chemistry and science teachers’ lack of self-directedness scores.   Keywords: Learning style, prospective chemistry and science teachers, self-regulated learning.

The objective of this study was to identify learning styles of students. The approach used in this study is a quantitative approach with survey method. The variable in this study is a single variable , namely the identification of student learning styles. The study population is students of Guidance and Counseling FKIP Pattimura University totaling 388 people. Samples were used as samples in the amount of 10% of the population of 39 people. The sampling technique using Simple Random Sampling. Learning styles questionnaire prepared based on the opinion of De Poter & Hernacki is used as a data collection tool. Learning styles identified as visual learning style, auditorial learning style, and kinesthetic learning style. Data analysis techniques in this study is the descriptive statistical analysis methods. Based on the survey results revealed that students of guidance and counseling FKIP Pattimura University has a tendency to one learning style. Of the 39 students found that 6 students had a tendency visual learning style, 20 students have a tendency to auditory learning style, 1 student has a tendency kinestheticlearning style, and 12 students have a tendency to mix between learning styles and learning styles visual auditorylearning styles.

With this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of constructivist chemistry laboratory on science and technology pre-service teachers’ opinions about constructivist approach and their self-regulated learning skills.The relationship between pre-service teachers’ opinions about constructivist approach and their self-regulated learning skills was investigated. The one group pre-test-post-test design was used in the study. The sample of the study was 58 pre-service teachers from Hacettepe University, Department of Science Education, who were attending chemistry experiments at Science Teaching Laboratory Applications II Course. Self-regulated Learning Skills Scale developed by Turan and Demirel (2010) and Opinion Scale of Constructivist Approach for Science Teachers developed by Balım, Kesercioğlu, Evrekli ve İnel (2009) were used as data collection tools. At the end of the study, it was determined that constructivist chemistry laboratory applications caused a positive increase in pre-service teachers’ self-regulated learning skills and opinions about constructivist approach. Also, there was a positive relationship between pre-service teachers’ self-regulated learning skills and opinions about constructivist approach that was observed. Children learn in different ways and so it is important that different teaching and learning styles are used in education. Professor Ichiro Wada, Professional School for Teacher Education in Education, Yokohama National University, Japan, wants to leverage self-regulated learning for science education. A key goal for his work is to clarify the relationship between the establishment of self-regulated learning and the construction of scientific concepts. He believes that self-regulated learning in science is important for improving educational issues in Japan. A key challenge for Wada is seeing how children think and self-regulate in order that teachers can design improved lessons. To overcome this, he used technology to encourage students to express and record their thoughts which provided an insight into how the children were thinking and learning. The researchers have been successful in visualising the learning process and plan to use their findings to help science teachers to design lessons that relate the process of self-regulated learning to the process of constructing scientific concepts. Wada plans to continue to promote self-regulated learning and will also tackle the social context of self-regulated learning and design lessons that consider these social aspects.

The purpose of this research was to examine the effect of the learning approaches on prospective chemistry teachers' self-regulated learning skills. 92 prospective chemistry teachers from the Department of Chemistry Education at one of the public university in Turkey participated in the research. “The Study Process Questionnaire” and “Self-regulated Learning Skills Scale” were used as the data collection tools. It was consequently found that 59.8 % of prospective chemistry teachers adopted deep learning approach, 40.2% of them adopted surface learning approach and their self-regulated learning skills scale scores for planning and goal setting scores differed significantly according to their learning approaches. Furthermore, it was determined that self-regulated learning skills mean score of prospective teachers' who adopted deep approach are higher than mean score of prospective teachers' who adopted surface approach but their self-regulated learning skills total scores did not differ significantly according to their learning approaches.

The present study explored the impact of online Digital Storytelling (DTS) on developing critical reading skills, critical thinking and self-regulated learning skills of prospective teachers of Arabic. To reach such ends, a standardized pre-posttest in critical reading skills, critical thinking skills scale and self-rating scale of self-regulated learning questionnaire were used. The quasi-experimental research design has been used in the current research. The results of two independent sample t-test revealed that the critical reading skills, critical thinking skills, and self-regulated skills improved significantly in comparison to the control group. It is, therefore, recommended that blended learning should be thought of as a good match for students from communities with poor digital literacy and technology infrastructure. In addition, online learning should be used with care to cope with community needs to fill a real gap in-field practice in language learning to improve multiliteracy skills.   Keywords: digital storytelling, critical reading skills; critical thinking skills; self-regulated learning skills; prospective teachers of Arabic

[English]: Self-regulated learning and learning styles are two of the various factors which contribute to students' achievement in learning at each level of education, including mathematics teacher education. This study examined the self-regulated learning of prospective mathematics teachers (PMT) with different learning styles (visual, auditory, kinesthetic). It involved 66 PMTs who enrolled on a linear program course in the 4th semester. Data were collected through a questionnaire, a test, and a semi-structured interview. The test was used to select PMTs who have high mathematics ability as the subjects. They were provided with the questionnaire to examine their fulfilment of cognition, motivation, behaviour, and context in the four stages of self-regulated learning. The interview was administered to confirm and thoroughly explore subjects' responses in the questionnaire. The results of the questionnaire and interview were qualitatively analyzed. This study found that PMT with different learning styles fulfils four aspects of self-regulated learning in the stage of (1) planning, forethought, and activation, (2) monitoring, (3) control, and (4) reaction and reflection in different extent, preference, and strategies. The differences are possibly affected by their different learning styles.   Keywords: Self-regulated learning, Learning styles, Prospective mathematics teachers [Bahasa]: Kemandirian belajar dan gaya belajar merupakan dua dari banyak faktor yang mempengaruhi capaian siswa dalam pembelajaran di setiap level pendidikan termasuk pendidikan guru matematika. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalis kemandirian belajar mahasiswa calon guru matematika yang memiliki gaya belajar berbeda (visual, audio dan kinestetik). Penelitian melibatkan 66 mahasiswa pendidikan matematika semester 4 yang sedang mengambil kuliah program linier. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan tes kemampuan matematika, angket kemandirian belajar, dan wawancara semi struktur. Tes digunakan untuk memilih calon guru yang memiliki kemampuan matematika tinggi sebagai subjek. Subjek terpilih diberikan angket untuk mengetahui tingkat capaian kognisi, motivasi, perilaku dan konteks dalam empat tahap kemandirian belajar. Wawancara dilakukan untuk mengonfirmasi dan memperdalam pilihan subjek pada angket. Data hasil angket dan wawancara dianalisis secara kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa calon guru matematika dengan gaya belajar berbeda memenuhi empat aspek kemandirian belajar pada tahap (1) perencanaan, pemikiran, dan aktivasi, (2) pengawasan, (3) kontrol, dan (4) reaksi dan refleksi dalam tingkatan, pilihan, dan strategi yang berbeda. Perbedaan tersebut kemungkinan dipengaruhi oleh kecenderungan gaya belajar yang dimiliki calon guru.    Kata kunci: Kemandirian belajar, Gaya belajar, Calon guru matematika

Objective: Self-regulated learning (SRL) is defined as the entirety of emotions, thoughts, and behaviours that individuals display in order to achieve their goals during the developmental period. Problem-based learning (PBL), used in medical education, is an educational model based on complete and sufficient learning. The aim of the study was to determine the perception of students from a medical faculty that applies the PBL education model on their self-regulation abilities. Investigating whether there is a difference in the students’ perception on their self-regulation abilities between the first and third year of PBL education and examining if there is a difference in female and male students regarding their perception on their self-regulation abilities are also among the purposes. Material and Methods: The 453 students participated in the study, 253 from the first-year students and 200 from the third-year students. The “Self-Regulated Learning Skills of Students“ scale was used in the study and the Cronbach’s alpha values were between 0.839-0.942. Results: In the comparison of Self-Regulated Learning Abilities of Students Scale score averages of first-year and third-year students, statistically significant high scores were identified in third-year students compared to first-year students in 4 of the 23 parameters in the scale. Conclusion: Self-regulation of third-year students’ high scores in four parameters can be considered to be related to PBL gains.  When the Self-Regulated Learning Abilities of Students Scale score averages were compared according to gender, statistically significant high scores were found in 7 of the 23 parameters in females.

Vertebrate zoology lectures during the COVID-19 pandemic brought about a transformation from face-to-face lecture systems to online self-learning. Students with various learning styles experience difficulties in studying vertebrate zoology courses. The purpose of this study was to analyze the learning difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic zoology vertebrate course as a whole and based on student learning styles. This research was conducted at the University of PGRI Madiun and IKIP Budi Utomo in May 2020. The number of respondents was 140 students of the Biology Education Department. This type of research is qualitative research with a survey method. The instrument used was a questionnaire analysis of vertebrate zoological learning difficulties using the google form. Data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The results showed that the learning difficulties of students, in general, were related to the understanding of scientific names as much as 71% and the fulfillment of teaching materials as much as 51%. The learning difficulties of students with a visual learning style consisted of understanding scientific names (69%) and the fulfillment of teaching materials (57%). The learning difficulties of students with auditory learning styles consist of understanding scientific names (81%). The learning difficulties of students with the kinesthetic learning style consisted of understanding scientific names (67%). This study concludes that students' difficulties are dominated by understanding scientific names and the availability of teaching materials.

This study aims to find out the relationship between learning style and students’ knowledge aspect on Computer System Subject at SMK IT Rahmatan Karimah of  Central Bengkulu, the type of research is quantitative and the subject of research is grade X in SMK IT Rahmatan Karimah of  Central Bengkulu. Data collection techniques using observation, Questionnaire and documentation. Data analysis techniques used were Descriptive Analysis, and inferential Statistical Analysis. The results of visual learning style post-test were 11 people with a mean of 76.36, an auditory learning style of 8 people at a mean of 62.14, a kinesthetic learning style of 3 people at a mean of 50.33, apart from that (r x y = 2.35) and the magnitude of r is reflected in the table (r table = 0.4132). Then rxy > r table ie = 2.35> 0.4132. In other words, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. It has a significant relationship between the learning styles of students and students’ knowledge aspect on Computer System Subject of grade X TKJ in SMK IT Rahmatan Karimah of  Central Bengkulu
