Franchising has gained popularity over the last decades. From a franchisor point of view, expanding a franchise network depends on several key aspects, one of which is the franchisee candidate recruitment and appropriate selection. This paper develops a theoretical franchisee selection model, which is based on an extensive international literature review and then discussed with 33 German-speaking franchise experts, in order to result in an improved and practically oriented model. The findings of this research are numerous and include the closely oriented opinion between academics around the world and interviewed franchise experts in Germany and Austria. Qualitative interviews give an insight in the many facets necessary to consider when evaluating a franchisee candidate. Nevertheless, the complexity of the topic limits the validity of the analysis made in this single paper.

This paper deals with three different perspectives appeared in foreign visitors’ records on Korea in 1900s. Jack London was a writer who wrote novels highly critical of American society based on progressivism. However, when his progressive perspective was adopted to report the political situation of Korea in 1904, he revealed a typical perspective of orientalism. He regarded Korea and ways of living in Korea as disgusting and ‘uncivilized.’Compared with Jack London’s perspective, French poet Georges Ducrocq’s book was rather favorable. He visited Korea in 1901 and he showed affectionate attitude toward Korea and its people. However, his travel report, Pauvre et Douce Coree, can be defined as representing aesthetic orientalism. He tried to make all the ‘Korean things’ seem beautiful and nice, but it is true that this kind of view can also conceal something concrete and specific. This perspective at once beautifies Korea and also conceals the reality about Korea.E. Burton Holmes was a traveler and he often used his ‘motion-picture’ machine to record things he witnessed while travelling around worldwide countries. So, his report (travelogue) and motion picture film on Korea written and made in 1901 was based on close observation and rather objective point of view. Nonetheless, he couldn’t avoid the perspective of the colonizer’s model of the world, in other words, geographical diffusionism of western culture.

The purpose of this work is to contribute to the continuous growth of the art world (Street Art in particular) and to discuss how it is essential for the discovery of artists. These artists have been pioneers and forerunners of new pictorial techniques, freeing creative and psychological flair, and combining the latter with the artistic technology that promises great things despite limited materials.  The intention of this article is to consider the elements of artistic expression that are less commonly subject to discussion, such as the world of Street Art. This form of artwork has not always been understood or accepted, with street artists waiting for the opportune moment to express the narrative, experiences, and emotions of society through their artwork, a power that unites sentiment and encourages change.  It is art which affects the community, the population and society. It is designed above all others to become part of the collective memory through violence of image and colour.  This project led me to come into contact with one of the many artistic artefacts of the Street Art movement, the Keith Haring’s mural in Amsterdam, a piece that makes me. understand and appreciate the problems inherent to these type of works, simple, synthetic, but never simplistic.  Therefore, a project, a study and a restoration hypothesis were conducted on one of the many works by Haring. The purpose of this was to shed light once again on the mural made in 1986 by the artist, situated in the Groothandeles Market of Amsterdam. No longer visible for thirty years, the mural was covered by insulation panels placed two years after its creation. With professors Antonio Rava and William Shank, the association Keith Haring Foundation of New York, the Stedelijk Museum of Amsterdam, in collaboration with the gallery Vroom & Varossieau, specialised in road art, on 8 June, the large metal sheet panels were removed and one of the greatest murals by Haring could once again be admired.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to present the comprehensive literature review on 5S and suggest possible gaps from the point of view of researchers and practitioners. The manuscript presents the overview of 5S implementation and highlights the achievements realized from deployment of 5S initiatives for sustainable performance of organizations. Design/methodology/approach The paper critically examines the literature on 5S, analyzes and reviews it systematically. The study highlights the critical barriers and success factors for sustainable 5S implementation in the organizations in the competitive world. Findings 5S is an outstanding Japanese philosophy for the development of any type organization all over the world. This study bring out the concept of 5S, requirements for its holistic implementation, relationship with other lean tools, benefits, success factors and obstacles in 5S implementation. The significant contributions through 5S initiatives in the organization like production, quality, safety and effective utilization of workspace for the sustained organizational improvement have also been highlighted in the study. Practical implications The literature on assortment of 5S technique has been so far very limited. The present paper reviews large number of research publications related to 5S to highlight the significance of 5S philosophy in the sustainable organizational improvement across the world. It foregrounds the approach advised by the various researchers, practitioners and appraises censoriously the reason behind the demand of 5S program in the organization. The needful steps and obstacles are also foreground for the effective implementation of 5S in the organization. Originality/value The paper presents a comprehensive review of literature publications in the area of 5S and their assortment to develop an understanding of the significance and implementation of 5S in the organizations. The paper will be helpful or useful to researchers, safety executives, development professionals and managers in the organizations.

The relationship between Christianity and the Enlightenment presents a subtle and difficult problem. No historian has as yet fully answered the important question of how the world view of the eighteenth century is related to that of traditional Christianity. It is certain, however, that the deism of that century rejected traditional Christianity as superstitious and denied Christianity a monopoly upon religious truth. The many formal parallels which can be drawn between Enlightenment and Christianity cannot obscure this fact. From the point of view of historical Christianity, both Protestant and Catholic, the faith of the Enlightenment was blasphemy. It did away with a personal God, it admitted no supernatural above the natural, it denied the relevance of Christ's redemptive task in this world. This essay attempts to discover whether traditional Christian thought itself did not make a contribution to the Enlightenment.

Since the Napoleonic Code of 1804 we have seen republics, monarchies and empires coming and going; local and world wars; revolutions, from the industrial to the informational; and our society has moved from an economy based on agriculture to one open to the world, based on tertiary services. In all this time, French contract law has been able to stay up and keep up to date with the many changes in society, thanks to the judicial interpretation of the various articles of the French civil code and the generality of its articles. There have been many previous attempts to reform French contract law but its principles, forged in 1804, have escaped unscathed, except for certain transpositions of European directives. This article focuses on an academic point of view with regards the reforms to the French civil code that will bring private contract law into line with modern international standards. This is the first step in a series of broader changes the government is making to the French law of obligations. This reform is said to have both adapted and revolutionised French contract law and merits scholarly attention.

It is only the comprehension of Islamic in the legislation in the world that it encompasses the change, evolution or developments being made in different areas of life to accommodate the changes   inegislation or to address the changes, Islamic jurists laid down different principles of fiqah.one of these principle is sad u-zaraey which is known as the “prohibition of evasive legal devices”. As difference in opinion is also existing in all the areas of life, similarly difference of opinions is existing among the Islamic jurists in describing this principle as well. One of the jurists who are possessing the counter narrative of sad u-zaraey is ibn e hazam. In this article research has been made in order to elaborate the ibn e hazam,s point of view about sadd u zaraey and also the vice versa opinion of other jusrists. It is also discussed with example that how the principle of sad u-zaraey is important in Islamic legislation.

Bolig, familieliv og hjemfølelse er historisk og kulturelt tæt knyttet sammen. I denne artikel er vi derfor interesseret i, hvad der sker med forholdet til boligen og med hjemfølelsen, når familien går i opløsning, og en eller begge parter flytter i forbindelse med en skilsmisse. Artiklen rummer dels en teoretisk introduktion til den internationale teori vedrørende bolig og hjemfølelse, dels en analyse af kvalitative interview med fraskilte om deres praktiske og følelsesmæssige forhold til deres bolig og hjem før og efter skilsmissen. Analysen peger på, at de følelsesmæssige bånd til en familiebolig kan forsvinde i dét øjeblik, beslutningen om en skilsmisse er truffet. Det praktiske arbejde med at etablere og indrette et nyt hjem kan blive en vigtig måde at søge ny identitet som enlig, og problemer med at finde et sted at bo, og deraf følgende midlertidige boliger, kan derfor gøre livet efter skilsmissen ekstra svært. Undersøgelsen peger endvidere på, at til trods for at mange fraskilte oplever det positivt at bo alene i en periode, så lever drømmen om kernefamilie og familiebolig videre. De fleste interviewpersoner giver således udtryk for, at de forestiller sig, at de på et tidspunkt etablerer en ny familiebolig med en ny partner. ENGELSK ABSTRACT: Kirsten Gram-Hanssen & Claus Bech-Danielsen: Divorce and Housing: Where does the Feeling of Being Home Move? House and home are historically and culturally closely connected to family life. In this article we investigate the ways in which the housing situation and the feeling of home are affected by divorce – when some or all members of the family move out of the matrimonial house. The article is based on an international literature review on the meaning of housing and home and on qualitative interviews of four men and five women in Denmark who were interviewed about their experiences with housing and home while being divorced. The article points out that emotional relations to the matrimonial house may disappear at the very moment the decision is made to divorce. It also points out that the practical work of creating a new home can play an important role in the process finding a new identity as a single parent. Many people find that life after being divorced is very difficult, when problems in finding a new house result in a number of temporary housing situations. Finally it is stressed that, even though many divorcees have positive experiences living alone, they never give up the dream of the nuclear family. Most of the interviewees picture themselves living in a new matrimonial house with a future partner. Key words: Housing, home, divorce, family, qualitative interviews.

This chapter explores preservation and disaster issues in Singapore and Uganda from the point of view of the author's volunteer experiences in the summer of 2012. This is a snapshot of how two very different institutions, on different sides of the world, preserve materials and prepare for disaster, the many obstacles they encounter, and how they work with and through those obstacles. Preservation and disaster concepts are briefly discussed with the main focus on the historical context of the cultural institutions of education and the access to and preservation of their materials.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has halted life all around the world. The disease, along with quarantine, social distancing, unemployment, and displacement, has led to myriad losses. There is a rising concern for the epidemic of grief that can result from these multiple losses. The present study aimed to investigate how grief is understood and discussed in the extant literature during the COVID pandemic. A systematic literature review was conducted using PsycArticles, Web of Science, and Scopus databases. The qualitative synthesis of 33 articles indicates that grief can be manifested at various levels such as grief for self, relational grief, collective grief, and ecological grief. Another theme emphasizes some of the factors that could intensify the grief process leading to prolonged grief disorder. A third theme relates to the focus of grief processes as experienced by individuals in different developmental periods from childhood to senescence. The study contributes theoretically by expanding our perception and understanding of varied forms of grief.

The article analyzes the searches conducted by F. M. Dostoevsky and V. F. Odoevsky for a “positively excellent” hero. It compares the images of Prince Myshkin from The Idiot and the hero of the dramatic excerpt Segeliel, or Don Quixote of the XIX century. The similarity between these two characters is reflected as early as in the history of their creation. The authors hypothesize that in both cases an Easter archetype emerges behind the conscious or unconscious desire to substitute a grim and sinful character with a “positively excelent” one. Myshkin and Segeliel love the world with a compassionate, selfless and active love, but they are alien to other people, differ by their very nature and are aware of this otherness. The heroes do not accept the “earthly” hierarchy in relation to people, they are incomprehensible to others and are laughable from the point of view of “common sense.” At the same time, there are numerous differences between them. Segeliel is a spirit, but he is rational, he believes in laws and in science. Myshkin strives for a mystical experience of life. Failures lead Myshkin to humility, and Segeliel to rebellion. Dostoevsky’s hero seeks to flee from the world. Odoevsky’s hero wants to intervene in earthly affairs. Segeliel wants to remake the world without God. He does not believe in the Creator and repines against him. Segeliel’s throwings are reminiscent of the complex dialectic of good and evil, construed by rebels from Dostoevsky’s novels. At the same time, it is important to distinguish the positions of Segeliel and Odoevsky himself, who is not in complete agreement with his hero. Certain common motifs, i.e., those of childhood and foolishness for Christ, create parallels between Myshkin and Odoevsky, the character and the writer. The many intersections between the image of Segeliel, his author and the image of Prince Myshkin allow us to identify the cultural code that appears in the works of Russian writers who sought to find the earthly embodiment of truth, goodness and beauty in a rough physical shell, inevitably hindered by original sin.
