Background: The level of job satisfaction affects not only the quality of the function exercised by the nurse, but also patient satisfaction, therefore it is very important for health care institutions to measure these perceptions amongst nurses. Aim of the study: This research had assessed the job satisfaction among nurses in the Public Hospital Vlora, Albania and the contributing factors on it. Method: Data of this cross-sectional research were collected using a questionnaire which measures job satisfaction, based on Mueller and McCloskey Satisfaction Scale (MMSS), adapted. Results: The professional pleasure that nurses sense to their profession is close to neutral (x = 2.92), with the trend to dissatisfaction. Most important extrinsic factor that affects the intensity of satisfaction in the nursing profession is 'monthly payment' (4.5 points), while as the most important intrinsic factor is ranked "career escalation" (3.84 points). Conclusions: In conclusion, we can say that the level of professional satisfaction among nurses involved in this study was below the average. Less satisfied groups from nursing profession were young people and high educated nurses. The low level of professional gratifying is expressed as well in the fact that over 70% of nurses in the study would like to practice another profession.

AbstractThe study was undertaken to assess job satisfaction among health care workers (HCWs) who work with disabled patients and to identify the factors that contribute to their job satisfaction. This was a cross-sectional study conducted at nine rehabilitation centers in Serbia. The study sample consisted of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and other HCWs (social workers, work and speech therapists, and psychologists). A self-administrated questionnaire was distributed to 170 HCWs. Chi square testing and multivariate logistic regression analyses were applied. The response rate was 97.1% (165/170). Overall job satisfaction was reported by 22.4% of the respondents and was associated with hospital politics (odds ratio [OR], 4.16; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.13–15.30], personal relationships (OR, 13.96; 95% CI, 4.07–47.92) and the feeling of being able to provide a good quality of care (OR, 5.24; 95% CI, 1.62–16.99). Profession, age, and gender did not affect job satisfaction. In conclusion, the results show very low job satisfaction among HCWs. Improving contributing factors may lead to higher job satisfaction and a better quality of health care.

Introdução: O estudo do absenteísmo na área da saúde é fundamental, visto que, a ausência do servidor ao trabalho pode gerar prejuízo ao usuário do sistema público de saúde, ao próprio servidor ausente, ao servidor presente e à instituição. Objetivo: Realizar uma revisão integrativa da literatura a fim de compreender a relação entre a satisfação profissional, a qualidade de vida e o absenteísmo dos trabalhadores de um hospital público. Materiais e Métodos: Foi feita uma busca de referência com os descritores “Satisfação no trabalho”, “Qualidade de vida”, “Absenteísmo” e “Hospitais Públicos” nas bases de dados Periódicos CAPES, Google Acadêmico e PUBMED. Pelos critérios de elegibilidade, 5 estudos se adequaram aos parâmetros estipulados. Resultados: Os 5 estudos analisados encontraram relação entre o absenteísmo e a satisfação profissional, de forma estatística ou observacional. Quanto à qualidade de vida, 40% da amostra encontrou relação entre os dois fatores. Conclusão: Existe relação entre o absenteísmo e a satisfação profissional e essa relação é inversamente proporcional. No que tange a qualidade de vida, a relação entre os dois fatores não é uma unanimidade. Objective: Carrying out an integrative literature review to understand the relationship between job satisfaction, quality of life and absenteeism from workers in a public hospital. Materials and methods: It were made a reference search with the descriptors "job satisfaction", "quality of life", "absenteeism" and "public hospitals" in the “Periódico Capes”, Scholar Google and PubMed databases. According to the eligibility criteria, 5 studies were adapted to the stipulated parameters. Results: It was found a relationship between absenteeism and job satisfaction from the 5 studies analyzed, either statistically or observationally. As for quality of life, 40% of the sample found a relationship between the two factors. Conclusion: There is a relationship between absenteeism and job satisfaction and this relationship is inversely proportional. With regarding to the quality of life, the relationship between the two factors is not an unanimity. One of the limitations found in the study is the variety of concepts to define job satisfaction and quality of life.Keyword: Job Satisfaction, Quality of life, Absenteeism.

Introduction: Caring service provided by nurses was one of the main factor of medical service system of Viet Nam. During recent years, nurses and midwives service had made significant progress in improving the quality of health caring service. However, jobs of nurses and midwives in Vietnam were still facing some problems and challenges: lack of both quality and quantity, discrepant structure. This study aimed to evaluate the human resource situation as well as the satisfaction level of nurse and midwife staff in state –run local hospitals, which would be the foundation for the plan of developing nurse and midwife system in order to satisfy the healthcare need of the patients. Objectives: To investigate the satisfaction rate and satisfaction involved factors with particular jobs of nurses and midwives at treatment systems in the public hospitals in Quang Tri province in year 2015. Data was collected using self-administrative questionnaires and entered and analysed by the statistical software of SPSS Version 20.0. Methodology: A cross sectional study was carried out in Dec. 2015 on a total of 433 nurses, midwives working at clinical departments of 12 governmental hospitals in Quang Tri province. Results: General job satisfaction rate with the particular jobs was 52.9%. Factors involving satisfaction of nurses, midwives with their jobs included: working position, hospital level of care, clinical departments, and monthly income getting from hospital (p<0.05). Conclusions: It was highly necessary to improve working conditions and environment, and income, to ensure treatment regimens and policies, to make further training and higher working position feasible, to heighten role and responsibility on working and to develop hospital in order to raise the satisfaction rate of nurses and midwives, and hence to enhance the quality of patient care in hospitals. Job Satisfaction and Quality of Life among Norwegian Homecare Nurses: a cross-sectional studyThe aim of this cross-sectional study was to investigate job satisfaction and quality of life among homecare nurses. A questionnaire including socio demographic variables, the Job Satisfaction Scale and the World Health Organization Quality of Life measurement was used to assess data (N = 126, mean age 39 years, 78 percent were women). The study showed moderate overall job satisfaction among homecare nurses. Satisfaction with colleagues had the highest item score in job satisfaction. Moderate satisfaction was displayed for the following items; responsibility you are given, variation on work, your opportunities to use your skills, freedom to choose your own methods of working, your physical working conditions, your work hours, and recognition you get for good achievements. Overall quality of life as well as the domains; physical, psychological, social relations and environment, showed high scores. Job satisfaction was significantly associated with both physical and environment domain of quality of life.

The aim of this study was to understand the role of school satisfaction on life satisfaction, according to gender, age, body mass index (BMI), and physical activity (PA) level. This was a cross-sectional descriptive study, carried out on 2823 adolescents (1396 boys and 1427 girls), aged between 12 and 16. A specific questionnaire to measure life satisfaction (Brief Multidimensional Student Life Satisfaction Scale (BMSLSS)), a questionnaire to measure satisfaction with school (“Life circumstances of Young people: School”), and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) were used to analyze PA practice. Gender, age, and BMI were used as control variables. In general, the main results showed that school satisfaction had a clear role in life satisfaction. Similarly, the findings allowed us to conclude that the role of school satisfaction on life satisfaction was more evident in male school children, those who were older, or those who have a higher BMI. The regular practice of PA enhanced school satisfaction and its role on life satisfaction. Therefore, it is very important to assess the importance of school satisfaction as a determinant of quality of life and the adoption of healthy habits, recognizing the fundamental role of teachers in this regard.

While a growing literature within the study of subjective well-being demonstrates the impact of socio-political factors on subjective well-being, scholars have conspicuously failed to consider the role of the size and scope of government as determinants of well-being. Where such studies exist, the focus is largely on the advanced industrial democracies of the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development. In this study, we examine the size of the public sector as a determinant of cross-national variation in life satisfaction across a worldwide sample. Our findings strongly suggest that as the public sector grows, subjective well-being increases as well, conditional on the extent of quality of government. Using cross-sectional data on 84 countries, we show this relationship has an independent and separable impact from other economic and political factors.

Joint Commission International ( JCI ) required the achievement of 100% five moment hand hygiene for the nurses who have provided care to patients. The adherence of five moments hand hygiene has been done to reduce the incidence of nosocomial infections. The adherence of five moments hand hygiene has been determined by inside and outside factors, and one of the inside factors is the motivation. The research is a qualitative research with cross sectional approach. The number of sample is 153 nurses with the proportionate random sampling technique at the Public Hospital of Loekmono Hadi Kudus. The research instruments used the questionaire and observation sheet. The research showed the result of Rank Spearman test p value = 0,000 with r value = 0.296, positive correlation means that the higher the nurse motivation, the higher the nurse aderence of five moment hand hygiene.

Introduction: The definition of motherhood is manifold. The responsibilities of motherhood should be considered biologically, psychologically and socially. Conscious motherhood is characterized amongst others by the responsibility of parents for procreative decisions, care for the health, development and safety of the child. In Poland, the model of a woman as mother, who dedicates her life to birthing and raising her offspring, dominates. This has a huge impact on the future functioning of the offspring as citizens of Poland. Materials and method: Study was conducted through a diagnostic survey in a group of 365 women (284 of which are mothers of three or more children, the remaining 81 being mothers of one child). A self-developed survey containing 29 multiple choice questions with a single correct response as well as a standardized assessment tool SWLS- Life Satisfaction Scale E. Diener, R.A. Emmons, R.J. Larson, S. Griffin (adaptation: Z. Juczyński) were used as a research tool. Results: The vast majority of respondents are satisfied with their role as mother (97.1%). Many of the women do not plan to have more children (44.1%). In the respondents' opinion, childbirth is a social privilege of a woman (p<0.05). Mothers of more than one child have definitively declared that having multiple children does not decrease the quality of life of women, is a source of life satisfaction, aids in the fulfillment of societal roles and does not impede professional development (p<0.05). A constant partner, religious beliefs and relations with other women having more than two children are important factors for respondents when deciding to expand their family (p<0.05). Women who have given birth to three or more children have greater life satisfaction as compared to mothers of a single child (p<0.05). Conclusion: Women are happy to be mothers. Motherhood is not a factor hindering their social and private functioning. Women's procreative decisions are influenced by fixed income, formal relationships and religious beliefs. Mothers of large families have greater life satisfaction in comparison to mothers of one child who do not desire more children.

Objective: The drug policy of Mali is based on the concept of essential generic drugs. The adoption of generic drugs in a program is often accompanied by irrational use of these drugs precisely because of the availability of these drugs. Thus, this study was initiated to assess the quality of prescribing and dispensing drugs in Mali. Methods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted from 2004 to 2013, the survey was conducted in 20 primary health centers and 20 private pharmacies in three regions of the country. In each of these structures, 30 prescriptions filled at the time of the survey were collected. Results: The average number of drugs per prescription was 3.0 ± 1.3 and 2.4 ± 1.2, respectively, in the public and private sectors. Prescription of drugs under international name was 91.6% in the public sector and 37.2% in the private sector. The public sector prescribed 33.7% of injectable drug against 16.2% in the private sector (p <0.001). The average cost of a prescription was lower in the public sector (3415.3 FCFA or 5.21euros) than in the private sector (7111 FCFA or 10.85 euros).Conclusion: Generic drugs are commonly used in the public, but much less in the private sector. The treatment guidelines are already available, should be introduced interactively to medical practitioners, through visits and intensive supervision by more experienced managers in the hierarchy, it would be likely to improve the quality of prescribing practitioners.

Abstract Background: High-quality and attractive work environments and nurses’ intention to stay are highly related to the job satisfaction of home healthcare nurses. Accordingly, a reliable and valid tool is required to assess home healthcare nurses’ job satisfaction for evaluating and improving the work environment and clinical practice of home healthcare. This study aimed to develop and examine the Japanese version of the Home Healthcare Nurses’ Job Satisfaction Scale (HHNJS-J).Methods: The Home Healthcare Nurses’ Job Satisfaction Scale (HHNJS) was translated into Japanese, and a backward-translation was performed until equivalence between the original and backward-translated the HHNJS was confirmed. Subsequently, a mail survey was conducted among 409 home healthcare nurses from 154 home healthcare agencies in Japan. We evaluated construct validity through confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and criterion-related validity and internal consistency were also tested.Results: The CFA revealed, a second-order seven-factor structure and adequate internal consistency, although, the fit of the data to the factor structure was moderate. As per the goodness-of-fit indices of the final model of the CFA, the comparative fit index was 0.89 and root mean square error of approximation was 0.06. This newly translated scale can be used to assess the job satisfaction of home healthcare nurses within Japan.Conclusions: The HHNJS-J evaluated acceptable reliability and validity among Japanese home healthcare nurses and had application in clinical practice in Japan.
