Introduction: The ophthalmological manifestation of tuberculosis varies significantly, and almost all the elements of the globe and orbit can be reached. Methods and Results: The aim of this work was to report a clinical aspect of ocular tuberculosis in a young woman who has a notion of tuberculous contagion and who was presented at the fundus of a macular papillary membrane with a tubercle of Bouchut or papillary tubercle. The diagnosis was retained on a bundle of clinical, biological, and radiological arguments. The evolution under treatment was favorable with an improvement of its visual acuity. Conclusion: It is necessary to know how to evoke the tuberculous etiology in view of all ocular inflammation, even atypical. This is required considering the great polymorphism of its clinical characteristics.

Objectives: To investigate the clinical characteristics of cataract patients with small pupils and to evaluate the result of cataract surgery on the eye have small pupils by phacotechnique. Subjects and methods: Descriptive study, prospective, uncontrolled interventions. Sample selection. The sample size of 70 patients with 70 eyes of cataracts with small pupils was treated by phaco technique and intraocular lens implant within posterior chamber. Follow up to 3 months. Results: 70 eyes, the percentage of men and women was not different from 54.2% (38 male) compared to 45.8% (32 female). The mean age was 80 ± 8.74, from 58 to 99 years. The disease was mainly found in the age group over 70 years old with over 80% (51.5%). Visual acuity before surgery was very poor under 3m CF (count finger) for 68.6% (48/70). Visual acuity over 1/10 was only a small amount with 2.8% (2 eyes). Pseudoexfoliation was the most common reason complications of mydriasis with 32/70 eyes (45.7%) and 22/70 eyes (31.4%) for age. The preoperative pupilarysizewas mostly small with 63/70 eyes (90.0%), non-dilated pupils (7/70 eyes) (10.0%). Average pupil size was 3.34 mm (2 - 4mm). Iris condition: iris atrophy 20/10 eyes (28.6%), iris synechiae 11/10 (15.7%), irregular iris muscle with 51, 4% and good iris muscle accounted for 48.6%. Grade of cataract: Grade III: 31/70 eyes (44.3%), Grade IV: 32/70 eyes (45.7%), Grade II: 5/70 eyes (7.1%) and V:2/70 eyes (2.9%). Pupil expander technique: OVD injection with 42/70 eyes (60%), using iris hook with 23/70 eyes (32.9%). Pupillary size before and after intervention has changed from 3.7mm to 4.48mm. Conclusions: Iris expander techniques have been shown to have good dilated pupils: 60.0% OVD injection, iris hook was 32.9%, other methods 7.1% One-week visibility of good visual acuity was higher than that of postoperative one day (12.2%) and increased at 1 month and 3 months (20.0%). Very good visual acuity was not available and low vision group was 1.4% after 3 months. Key words: cataract surgery; phacoemusification, small pupil

PurposeTo evaluate the prevalence of dome-shaped macula (DSM) in highly myopic eyes among Chinese Han and to detect the correlation with myopic maculopathy and macular complications.MethodsA total of 736 Chinese Han patients (1384 eyes) with high myopia (refractive error≤6.0 diopters or axial length ≥26.5 mm) are reviewed based on information entered into a high-myopia database at Zhongshan Ophthalmic Centre. Subfoveal choroidal thickness (SFCT) and parafoveal choroidal thickness (PFCT) are measured. The prevalence of DSM in patients with myopic maculopathy is categorised from C0 to C4. Clinical features, including macular complications, SFCT and PFCT, are compared between myopic eyes with and without DSM.ResultsAmong the 1384 eyes, 149 (10.77%) show DSM. In highly myopic eyes without macular complications, the best corrected visual acuity is significantly worse in patients with DSM (p=0.002), and the ratio between subfoveal and parafoveal choroidal thickness (S/PCT) is significantly elevated in patients with DSM (p=0.021). The proportion of foveal schisis (17.24% vs 62.86%) is much lower in eyes with DSM compared with those without DSM. However, the proportions of extrafoveal schisis (39.66% vs 5.37%), foveal serous retinal detachment (SRD) (5.17% vs 0) and epiretinal membrane (ERM) (24.14% vs 10.74%) are much higher in eyes with DSM. The proportion of DSM was lower in C0 and C1, but higher proportion of DSM was found in C3 and C4.ConclusionsDSM is found in 10.77% of highly myopic eyes among Chinese Han. DSM might be a protective mechanism for foveal schisis and a risk factor for extrafoveal schisis, SRD and ERM.

Objective: This study aims to describe the main epidemiological characteristics of benzodiazepine intoxication in Morocco. Methods: This is a retrospective study of cases of benzodiazepine poisoning reported at the Poison Control and Pharmacovigilance Center of Morocco between 2012 and 2016. Results: During the period 2012-2016, 1,544 cases of benzodiazepine poisoning were recorded in Morocco. The average age of the addicts is 21.68 ± 14.41 years. According to the data of the study, 70% are Female, with a sex ratio of 2.25.The suicidal act represents a significant percentage with 31.5% of cases. Almost all patients were orally intoxicated with 97.1%.The signs presented are various according to the quantity ingested and the time elapsed before the treatment in particular the psychiatric, neurological, digestive and cardiovascular disorders. Unfortunately, three cases died. The other cases survived with or without sequelae. Conclusion: benzodiazepines are drugs used in the treatment of several disorders such as anxiety, insomnia and psychomotor agitation. Unfortunately, many people do not know how to use this type of medicine.which exposes them to poisoning, for this reason it is necessary to carry out sensitization campaigns for the good use of benzodiazepines at the national level. Since almost all functional relations in our geodetic models are nonlinear, it is important, especially from a statistical inference point of view, to know how nonlinearity manifests itself at the various stages of an adjustment. In this paper particular attention is given to the effect of nonlinearity on the first two moments of least squares estimators. Expressions for the moments of least squares estimators of parameters, residuals and functions derived from parameters, are given. The measures of nonlinearity are discussed both from a statistical and differential geometric point of view. Finally, our results are applied to the 2D symmetric Helmert transformation with a rotational invariant covariance structure.

Abstract Differences in the pathogenesis and clinical characteristics between lamellar macular hole (LMH) with and without LMH-associated epiretinal proliferation (LHEP) can have surgical implications. This study investigated the effects of treating LHEP by foveolar internal limiting membrane (ILM) non-peeling and epiretinal proliferative (EP) tissue repositioning on visual acuity and foveolar architecture. Consecutive patients with LHEP treated at our institution were enrolled. The eyes were divided into a conventional total ILM peeling group (group 1, n = 11) and a foveolar ILM non-peeling group (group 2, n = 22). In group 2, a doughnut-shaped ILM was peeled, leaving a 400-μm-diameter ILM without elevated margin over the foveola after EP tissue repositioning. The EP tissue was elevated, trimmed, and inverted into the LMH. Postoperatively, the LMH was sealed in all eyes in group 2, with significantly better best-corrected visual acuity (−0.26 vs −0.10 logMAR; p = 0.002). A smaller retinal defect (p = 0.003), a more restored ellipsoid zone (p = 0.002), and a more smooth foveal depression (p < 0.001) were achieved in group 2. Foveolar ILM non-peeling and EP tissue repositioning sealed the LMH, released the tangential traction, and achieved better visual acuity. The presumed foveolar architecture may be reconstructed surgically. LMH with LHEP could have a combined degenerative and tractional mechanism.

This case highlights Indian Tobacco Corporation (ITC)’s journey from being a pure leaf tobacco selling company to a reputed conglomerate with popular brands in diversified areas. ITC’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability activities taking a turning point with the company taking an immense interest in integrating societal problems in its company’s policies and strategies. These transformations can be seen in almost all the business divisions of ITC. Mangaldeep division, an incense stick division is not an exception to this change. However, the authors are trying to analyze the activities of ITC–Mangaldeep Business unit from different perspectives such as CSR, sustainability and shared value initiatives. Considering the resource constraint and the demand to meet the societal needs, it will be quite interesting to know how both these two challenges are met by a conglomerate like ITC simultaneously in the days to come. The case uses both primary and secondary sources of information to develop this teaching case.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare the outcomes of vitrectomy in granulomatous uveitis and nongranulomatous uveitis insufficiently managed by immunosuppressive therapy. Methods: Thirty-eight eyes with granulomatous uveitis and 17 eyes with nongranulomatous uveitis that underwent vitrectomy for ocular complications between July 2006 and August 2012 were reviewed retrospectively. Visual acuity and ocular inflammation scores before and 6 months after surgery were compared. Patients treated with vitrectomy alone and those in whom vitrectomy was combined with phacoemulsification were analyzed separately. Results: The mean visual acuity improved significantly both in granulomatous and nongranulomatous uveitis. In granulomatous uveitis, the mean inflammation scores decreased significantly both in the anterior segment and in the posterior segment. In nongranulomatous uveitis, the mean inflammation score in the posterior segment decreased significantly, although it did not change in the anterior segment. Conclusion: Vitrectomy was effective for treating ocular complications both in granulomatous uveitis and nongranulomatous uveitis, with favorable outcomes of improved visual acuity and decreased uveitis activity.

AIM: To study whether patients with progressive nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) present earlier than patients with stable NAION and to describe their clinical characteristics and visual outcome. METHODS: This was a retrospective chart review. All patients with NAION seen during the acute stage from January 2012 to December 2018 were reviewed. Patients were included if they had documented disc edema and follow up of at least 3mo. Patients with progressive NAION were identified if they worsened in 2 out of 3 parameters: visual acuity ≥3 Snellen lines; Color vision ≥4 Ishihara plates; the visual field defect involved a new quadrant. The clinical characteristics, time from symptom onset to presentation, systemic risk factors and visual outcome were compared to patients with stable NAION. RESULTS: Totally 122 NAION cases met the inclusion criteria. Mean age was 58.1y (range 22-74), 70% were men. Twenty cases (16.4%) had progressive NAION. Patients with progressive NAION did not differ from stable NAION in their demographics, systemic risk factors or in their initial visual deficit. At last follow up, median visual acuity was 1.0 logMAR (IQR 0.64-1.55) in patients with progressive NAION, vs 0.18 (IQR 0.1-0.63) in stable NAION (P<0.001). Median color vision testing was 0 plates correct (IQR 0-2.5%) vs 92% plates correct (IQR 50%-100%) in the stable NAION group (P<0.001). Patients with progressive NAION differed in the time from symptom onset to presentation (median 2d vs 5d, P=0.011). CONCLUSION: We find no identifiable risk factors associated with progressive NAION. Progressors arrive earlier for ophthalmological evaluation.

This article presents the results of research on the Relationship of Knowledge with Attitudes of Parents to Increased Stimulation of Development of Children 4-5 Years Old in XVIII Hamlet, PayaBakung Village, Hamparan Perak Subdistrict, Deli Serdang District in 2018 which aims to determine parents' knowledge of parental interest in stimulating . This research is an analytic survey that tries to explore how and why health phenomena occur. The population in this study were parents who had children aged 4-5 years as many as 30 people in VXII Hamlet, PayaBakung Village, Hamparan Perak District, Deli Serdang Regency. While the sampling technique in this study using total sampling technique is the number of population sampled as many as 30 people. From the results show that almost all parents who have children aged 4-5 years know how to stimulate good development for their children if children cannot experience delays that can be caused by lack of fulfillment in children, in which is the need to play. Childhood should be a period of play that is expected to foster maturity in growth and development, so that if the period is not used as well as possible, of course, it will eventually disrupt the growth of children.
