The aim of this research is to comprehensively understand the sufistic construction and the construction patterns of Sufistic values ​​in multicultural education. This study uses a qualitative method which stand on Peter L.Berger's social construction theory. The results of this study is that the construction, took place at the University of Yudharta Pasuruan was assisted by the vision and mission of the tertiary institution which became the perspective of the performance of the entire academic communities. On the other hand it is also based on understanding, awareness and transformation of knowledge. The dialectical entity of social construction theory runs perfectly, the entities are Externalization, Objectivation, and Internalization. Multicultural activities and behaviors are formed by and on the basis of mutually agreed understanding of religious texts, the teachings of the tarekat and the transformation of science in the classroom. The construction process which consists of habituation, institutionalization, and legitimacy helps the implementation of all multicultural behaviors and activities of the academics of Yudharta Pasuruan University. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui secara comprehensive konstruksi sufistik dan pola konstruksi nilai-nilai sufistik dalam pendidikan multikultural. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif berdasarkan teori konstruksi sosial Peter L.Berger. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa konstruksi yang terjadi di Universitas Yudharta Pasuruan dibantu oleh visi misi perguruan tinggi yang menjadi cara pandang kinerja seluruh civitas akademika. Di lain hal juga didasarkan dari pemahaman, kesadaran dan transformasi ilmu. Entitas dialektika teori konstruksi sosial berjalan dengan sempurna, entitas tersebut adalah Eksternalisasi, Objektivasi, dan Internalisasi. Aktifitas dan perilaku multikultural terbentuk oleh dan atas dasar pemahaman yang disetujui bersama dari teks agama, ajaran tarekat dan transformasi ilmu di dalam kelas. Proses konstruksi yang terdiri dari pembiasaan, institusionalisasi, dan legitimasi membantu implementasi seluruh perilaku dan aktifitas multikultural para civitas akademika Universitas Yudharta Pasuruan.

The determination of the dowry in the marriage of the people of Karangsono Village was originally based on the rules of Islamic law, namely by using the principles of convenience, lightness, and simplicity. However, people's lives that are never stagnant make them always interact with each other, thus forming a new concept of dowry determination in the community. The purpose of this article is to determine the description and implementation of the concept of the dowry class in the community marriage of Karangsono Village and to review it using the perspective of the social construction theory. This field research used a qualitative descriptive method and data analysis used Berger and Luckmann's social construction theory. Data were collected through document study, interviews, and observations. This research resulted in conclusions: (1) The concept of the dowry class in the community marriage of Karangsono Village is based on the classification of the prospective bride, which is seen from the status of a virgin or widow, her beauty, and age. The higher the quality of the woman, the higher the dowry she can get, (2) The determination of the dowry in Karangsono Village has undergone a social construction based on three simultaneous processes. The externalization process is illustrated through adaptation to religious texts and life being experienced. The process of objectivation here gives birth to new meanings, which are manifested in the actions of the wider community so that they become objective facts. The process of internalization is illustrated by the affirmation in the consciousness experienced subjectively.(Penentuan mahar dalam perkawinan masyarakat Desa Karangsono mulanya didasarkan pada aturan hukum Islam, yakni dengan menggunakan asas kemudahan, keringanan dan kesederhanaan. Namun kehidupan masyarakat yang tidak pernah stagnan, membuat mereka selalu berinteraksi satu sama lain, Tujuan artikel ini ialah untuk mengetahui deskripsi dan implementasi konsep kelas mahar dalam perkawinan masyarakat Desa Karangsono, serta ditinjau menggunakan perspektif teori konstruksi sosial. Penelitian lapangan ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dan analisis datanya menggunakan teori konstruksi sosial Berger dan Luckmann. Pengambilan data dilakukan melalui studi dokumen, wawancara dan observasi. Penelitian ini menghasilkan beberapa kesimpulan: (1) Konsep kelas mahar dalam perkawinan masyarakat Desa Karangsono ialah berdasarkan klasifikasi yang dimiliki calon pengantin perempuan, yakni dilihat dari status perawan atau janda, paras kecantikan dan usianya. Semakin tinggi kualitas yang dimiliki perempuan, maka semakin tinggi pula mahar yang bisa didapatkannya, (2) Penentuan mahar di Desa Karangsono telah mengalami konstruksi sosial berdasarkan tiga proses simultan. Proses eksternalisasi tergambar melalui adaptasi dengan teks-teks keagamaan dan kehidupan yang sedang dialami. Proses objektivasi disini melahirkan pemaknaan baru, yang termanifestasikan ke dalam tindakan-tindakan masyarakat luas sehingga menjadi kenyataan objektif dan biasa dilakukan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Proses internalisasi tergambar oleh penegasan dalam kesadaran yang dialami secara subjektif dan pentransferan akan pengetahuan tentang makna-makna objektif)

: This study seeks to find the process of constructing Islamic symbols in the political message of newspapers in Riau. The symbol of Islam in question is a symbol of Islam exposed by newspapers in Riau during the campaign of the regional head election of Pekanbaru City starting from October 26, 2016 to February 11, 2017. The theory used in this study is social construction theory, by Peter L .Berger and Thomas Luckmann. Peter L.erger who at the beginning of his development, this theory is a constructivist study in sociology to understand the interactions created by individuals as members of society in a continuous manner becomes a reality that is experienced together in social life. This research uses a constructivist approach to understand how the process of constructing Islamic symbols in political messages. The subjects of this study were 5 candidates for regional head of Pekanbaru City who were actively exposed by the media and used Islamic symbols in various campaign activities during the Campaign from 26 October 2016 to 11 February 2017. The object of the research was the construction of Islamic symbols exposed to newspaper in Riau. The results of this study indicate that the construction process is divided into two, namely the construction process that occurs because it is caused by the process of finding data and facts about the needs of the community and the construction process that appears as the identity of prospective regional heads.

AbstrakBuruh Migran Indonesia yang bekerja di luar negeri, baik kategori legal maupun yang ilegal lebih banyak melibatkan tenaga kerja wanita salah satunya berasal dari Kabupaten Tulungagung, Propinsi Jawa Timur. Di Negara Hongkong jumlah TKI asal Propinsi Jawa Timur paling banyak, yakni mencapai sekitar 170.000 orang, disusul Taiwan sekitar 160.000, dan Malaysia sekitar 130.000 orang. Penelitian dilakukan untuk melakukan identifikasi pada ketertarikan wanita di Kabupaten Tulungagung pada untuk menjadi buruh migran di Hongkong yang selanjutnya dianalisis menggunakan teori konstruksi sosial. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode kualitatif dengan teknik purposive di Kabupaten Tulungagung meliputi 6 Kecamatan terpilih dengan melakukan observasi dan  in-depth interview pada 20 informan. Faktor yang mempengaruhi emigrasi wanita ke Hongkong sesuai dengan konstruksi sosial yang terbentuk adalah Adanya jaringan migran sukses yang berada di Hongkong dengan berbagai fasilitas, kemudahan dan kenyamanan yang ditawarkan, “social prestige” pada mereka yang bekerja sebagai buruh migran dan kebutuhan dalam jangka panjang.Kata Kunci: Hongkong, Konstruksi Sosial, Migrasi Internasional, Perempuan, TulungagungAbstractIndonesian domestic worker whose came from Tulungagung Regency, East Java has been engaged as women labor and known as legal or illegal worker abroad. Research was done on purposive technique by qualitative method at Tulungagung Regency which covered 6 chosen district. Observed at least 20 informan and having in-depth interviewed, research identified through some factor: based on social construction, succeed migrant network at Hongkong has bade on privilege and comfortable life. Hence, social prestige also offers for Indonesia domestic worker at Hongkong. Education function to develop the ability and form the character and civilization of a dignified nation in order to educate the nation’s life. This is in line with the values and norms of Indonesian society is far from materialism, But along with the influx of globalization and modernization, the value and meaning of education is often biased. The occurrence of bias in the interpretation of the meaning of education is caused by social change. research of education bias in Bima community gives an idea how education values can not be interpreted well by a society. Peter L Berger is one of the sociologists who discussed the whole process of social construction. Using the social construction theory of Peter L Berger, it can be seen that the people of Bima undergo a process of social change consisting of; (a) Changes in education patterns in Bima from Islamic education to secular education, (b) Conversion of society’s high social status, related to education which is a social construction process in Bima society about one’s social status. So from the analysis can be seen that education for the community Bima has a very important role in determining the position of a person’s social status. Radicalism and Islamic phobia have the potential to cause conflict amongst religious communities so that it needs social movements in building religious moderation. This study aims to understand and analyse the Ahlussunnah Waljamaah theology in the six largest Islamic community organisations in Indonesia in implementing religious moderation. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data obtained from interviews, observations and in-depth interviews regarding the process of externalising, objectifying and internalising the theology of Ahlusunnah Waljamaah in Nahdlatul Ulama, Rifa’iyah, Muhammadiyah, Al-Irsyad, Lembaga Dakwah Islam Indonesia and Front Pembela Islam organisations. Then, the data were analysed through social construction theory of Peter L. Berger and T. Luckman. The results show that the six largest Islamic community organisations in Indonesia apply Ahlussunnah Waljamaahs theology. Those Islamic community organisations differently understand the externalisation of Ahlussunnah Waljamaah theology based on its teaching. Thus, it has implications for Aswaja’s model of application (objectification) in the fields of state, preaching, social and cultural life. Aswaja’s internalisation is reflected in the moderate character of the figures and followers of mass organisations in Indonesia. The Islamic community organisations contribute to build Islamic moderation character by applying an established and consistent theology of Ahlussunnah Waljamaah in various fields.Contribution: This article provides insight into the contribution of Ahlussunnah Waljamaah’s theology in establishing moderate Islam in Indonesia. It contributes to build Islamic moderation’s character by applying an established and consistent theology of Ahlussunnah Waljamaah in various fields.

AbstractThe purpose of this study was conducted to determine the emphasis of Muhammadiyah and cultural propaganda to non-Muslim students through multicultural education. The study uses a qualitative method and purposive sampling to select the subjects, namely non-Muslim students, lectures of multicultural education, and AIK. Data were collected through interviews, observation, file notes, and analyzed in one circle among data collection, categories, reading, memoing, description, classification, interpretation, and visualization. The result is (1) after applying four multicultural education approaches, such as contribution, additive, transformation, and social action approaches, the values of Muhammadiyah can be emphasized and do not undermine their non-Muslim religious. Furthermore, they realize that Muhammadiyah is an Islamic organization that is inclusive and pluralist. On the other hand, (2) cultural and lectures use community propaganda as a learning strategy to explain the values of Muhammadiyah to be accepted by non-Muslim students. AbstrakTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penanaman kemuhammadiyahan dan dakwah kultural Muhammadiyah pada mahasiswa non-Muslim melalui pendidikan multikultural. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan penentuan subjek purposive sampling yang terdiri dari mahasiswa non-Muslim, dosen pendidikan multikultural, dan dosen AIK. Data penelitian dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan catatan lapangan yang dianalisis dengan teknik lingkaran yang bergerak di antara pengumpulan data, pengorganisasian data, pembacaan, memoing, deskripsi, klasifikasi, penafsiran, penyajian dan visualisasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) setelah diterapkan empat pendekatan pendidikan multikultural, yaitu pendekatan kontribusi, aditif, tranformasi dan aksi sosial, maka nilai-nilai kemuhammadiyaan pada mahasiswa non-Muslim dapat ditumbuhkan dan tidak melunturkan keyakinan mereka terhadap agamanya. Selanjutnya mereka menyadari bahwa Muhammadiyah adalah sebuah organisasi Islam yang bersikap inklusif dan pluralis. Selain itu, (2) dakwah kultural dan komunitas digunakan oleh dosen sebagai strategi pembelajaran untuk menjelaskan nilai-nilai kemuhammadiyaan agar bisa diterima oleh mahasiswa non-Muslim.

Radicalism became a phenomenon widely discussed in inter-religious life. In practice, Islam and pesantren is often associated with acts of terrorism and other violence since the action was perceived as an extension of religious radicalism with jihad and amar ma’ruf nahi mungkar as basic commands. The focus of this study is to analyze how komunitas pesantren (pesantren community) perception about radicalism and how the process of those perceptions is formed. This research was conducted in two komunitas pesantren with different characteristic in Malang City : Alhayatul Islamiyah as salaf (traditional) pesantren and Ma’had Al-Qalam as modern pesantren. By using a qualitative approach and case study, this study resulted in three broad conclusions. First, salaf pesantren community’s perception regarding the issue of radicalism tends to moderate and tolerant. Meanwhile, the perception of modern pesantren community on the issue of radicalism tends to vary; Second. The Construction process could be explained by the dialectical process from Berger & Luckman’s social construction theory consisting of three simultaneous processes: externalization, objectivation and internalization. In the process, the researcher found three types of komunitas pesantren in perceiving radicalism which is contextual moderate and tolerant (as the majority group); fundamental (idealist) and pragmatic. At the salaf pesantren, Kyai was an important figure in constructing value, while at modern pesantren the background, social settings and media give more influence in the construction process about radicalism; Third, the pattern similarity at salaf pesantren motivated by cultural hegemony by constructing value on a single base culturally affiliated to the nahdliyin tradition, while varying perceptions of  modern pesantren arise from it’s heterogeneous base. Recently conflict among university students has become common phenomenon at higher education around Indonesia. Makassar is considered one of the prone conflict areas which can destroy campus academic life as scientific institution where students are expected to be able to become more educative, more human, more democratic and more harmonious people around the society.  This study aims at exploring  the causes of the conflict happened at the university students in South Sulawesi, the efforts done by the tertiary institution in overcoming students conflict, the potential of applying multicultural  education, and finding out the model of students resolution conflict based on multicultural education approach. This research applied qualitative approach by using likert-scale questionnaire, in-depth interview and Focus Group Discussion (FGD), observation,  documentation and videoing to get data.   The obtained data are analyzed qualitatively and percentage based on the likert scale; data display, data reduction, data interpretation, and data conclusion. The result of the study demonstrated that most of the students’ conflicts are dealing with inequality, lack of intercultural understanding, and a very limited space for ethnic and individual expressions as part of academic society. This leads to potentially open a space for applying multicultural education as an alternative model for mental revolution in teaching Intercultural Communication to university students.

The present work explores the implementation of kupingan method in the karawitan music training process to foreign participants with written tradition background. Moreover, it aims to identify, analyze, and elaborate the strength and weaknesses of kupingan method in transfer knowledge of gamelan skills. The present study employed a descriptive-qualitative method and class-action research design. The research objects involved the training of Javanese karawitan music to Tlaga Madu group from the University of Michigan in 2019. The data were obtained through observation of participation, interview, and document study. The data were further validated by triangulation technique and analyzed by steps as follows: identification, classification, verification, reduction, and explanation. The results indicate that kupingan method is applicable in the karawitan music training for foreigners, yet, to a very limited extent. By implementing the method, the training participants can master simple gending (colotomic structure) instrumental of learning materials, such as basic technique and patterns of instruments in the small-format gending lancaran form. On the other hand, the materials of complex gending with larger formats than lancaran are more effective to be disseminated by karawitan notation that is written in detail and elaborated with a demonstration of the song play.
