Social Construction Theory assumes that the development of communication technology in the organization causes the organization's staff to share meanings and actions responding to the technology. Meanwhile, the Theory of Social Influence explains the impact of new technology applications such as social media usage affects the environment. These theories emphasise that social media such as WhatsApp has taken over traditional communication and become one of the primary communication channels in the organization. Accordingly, based on the assumptions found in both theories, this study was conducted to identify the determinants of WhatsApp acceptance as a medium of interaction between staff in an organization. Specifically, this study applies a qualitative method to examine WhatsApp usage as a medium of interaction. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with the middle-level management staff at a public university. All informants were the staff members who have served the university for more than five years and have used WhatsApp for work-related matters. The interview transcription was analysed using the thematic analysis based on the assumptions of both theories. The research finding shows that the combination of both theories were able to explain the factor of WhatsApp usage and its implications among the staff in the organization. Therefore, this study has contributed towards the strengthening of the assumptions found in the Theory of Social Construction that is interpretive flexibility, tolerance, socio-cultural and stability, and also in the Theory of Social Influence which is compliance, identification, and internalization. In addition, this study has also contributed to studies related to communication technology usage and strengthening the theories related to these aspects. Keywords: Social media, WhatsApp, qualitative study, social construction theory, social influence theory.

The analysis is carried out using a social construction theory. This study concluded that the clan of Neguwulacan adopt the HBL system. This is reflected in the emergence of local initiatives to manage finances, the workforce, groups, as well as build and implement them at the clan level. The gender relations that exist in SBF practice at the clan of Neguwula are relative. First, in terms of family lines, women obtain benefits because could hold matrilineal law. Political decisions remain in the hands of women. Second, practically speaking, women work twice as much in domestic and commercial work. Third, in some cases, deliberation is put forward for a fair division of labor. At this point, inclusiveness emerges as a reality that colors gender relations.

This paper aims to explain the position and role of Indonesian Women's Ulama in responding to the social problems of women in the patriarchal culture of Ulamā’ which is dominated by male Ulamā’ in Indonesia. Using Peter L.Berger and Luckmann's (1966) social construction theory, this paper seeks to explore the capacity of Indonesian Women’s Ulama in solving socio-religious problems, especially in the field of female law and social issues in Indonesia. Law-making in Indonesia cannot be separated from the patriarchal construction built by the intellectual hegemony of male Ulamā’ (Islamic scholars) and the existence of social inequality between men and women in the dominance of social interpretations which results in the dominance of masculinity in the public sector. This paper uses qualitative research methods with data collection techniques in the form of observation and documentation. The conclusions of this paper are 1) the intellectual ahistorism of women socially constructed through verbalization, visualization, and adaptation in the socio-cultural scientific tradition; 2) the cultural backwardness experienced by women when men step forward in their socio-cultural intellect in the public sector such as law, education, politics and economics.

The determination of the dowry in the marriage of the people of Karangsono Village was originally based on the rules of Islamic law, namely by using the principles of convenience, lightness, and simplicity. However, people's lives that are never stagnant make them always interact with each other, thus forming a new concept of dowry determination in the community. The purpose of this article is to determine the description and implementation of the concept of the dowry class in the community marriage of Karangsono Village and to review it using the perspective of the social construction theory. This field research used a qualitative descriptive method and data analysis used Berger and Luckmann's social construction theory. Data were collected through document study, interviews, and observations. This research resulted in conclusions: (1) The concept of the dowry class in the community marriage of Karangsono Village is based on the classification of the prospective bride, which is seen from the status of a virgin or widow, her beauty, and age. The higher the quality of the woman, the higher the dowry she can get, (2) The determination of the dowry in Karangsono Village has undergone a social construction based on three simultaneous processes. The externalization process is illustrated through adaptation to religious texts and life being experienced. The process of objectivation here gives birth to new meanings, which are manifested in the actions of the wider community so that they become objective facts. The process of internalization is illustrated by the affirmation in the consciousness experienced subjectively.(Penentuan mahar dalam perkawinan masyarakat Desa Karangsono mulanya didasarkan pada aturan hukum Islam, yakni dengan menggunakan asas kemudahan, keringanan dan kesederhanaan.

The number of Muslims in Indonesia reaches 85% of the total population of 270 million, but the progress of the Islamic economics in the country is stagnant. This is evidenced by the sharia banking assets, which only reach 5% and never increase every year. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the primary obstacles hindering the development of sharia banking, from the perspective of sharia banking per se, and not from the society, as was the case in most previous studies. Besides, this study offers a strategy through a combination of Ibn Khaldun’s ashabiyyah and social construction theory of Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckmann to strengthen the public perception toward sharia banking. The method used to reveal the obstacles is a field survey method in the form of an obstacle’s questionnaire with optional answers, which were distributed to several Islamic banks as samples, and then the most selected answers are calculated. Meanwhile, to find a strategic solution, it is necessary to review the literature using a philosophical approach. The results of a questionnaire that was distributed to several Islamic banks indicate three primary obstacles: low level of public awareness about the use of sharia banking (80 %), low level of public understanding and knowledge on sharia banking products (60 %), and low level of government support for sharia banking (40 %). Meanwhile, the theoretical application of asabiyyah theory with the help of the social construction theory can be used to strengthen public perceptions of Islamic banking through a three-stage process: externalization, objectivation and internalization.

[The household cannot be separated from the awareness of husband and wife in understanding their role in the family. Husband and wife play an active role in carrying out their respective obligations. The husband is active in the production sector (public, main breadwinner) and the wife is more active in the reproductive sector (domestic, family caretakers). However, the fact is that it is not uncommon to find a wife who is active in the public sphere and is also the main breadwinner in the family. The position of the husband as the main source of income is replaced by the wife, so the role of the wife is not only struggling with reproduction and domestic matters. The wife's multiple role phenomenon can be found in Aek Lancat Village, Lubuk Barumun District, Padang Lawas Regency, North Sumatra Province. This study aims to answer the reasons why the wife becomes the main breadwinner in the community in Aek Lancat Village and what are the implications of a wife as breadwinner to the family. This study uses a sociological approach based on religious discourse, especially regarding family law which is seen as the core problem in society, using Social Construction theory by Peter L. Barger to understand the lifestyle of the community in Aek Lancat Village related to the position of the wife as the main breadwinner, and observe the development of interactions between husband and wife where the wife is more dominant as the main breadwinner in the family. Then this research also involves Gender theory by focusing on the concepts of Nature and Nurture. This descriptive-analytic study uses qualitative methods, where data sources are found through observation, documentation and interviews, by determining informants through snowball sampling techniques, then the data are analyzed using: collecting, display, verification and concluding techniques.]

How can arts-based methodologies offer unique insights into contemporary migration and settlement experiences? Informed by qualitative research and a literature review which analyzes identity theory, social construction theory, and Canadian art organizations which support newcomer artists, this paper explores the potential for the intersection of the arts in immigration and settlement assessment. An exploratory investigation of the theory of art as linked to migration is illuminated by the experiences of a group of artists who have gone through a significant migratory experience and share their reflections on being artists in Canada. This paper argues that analyzing art created by immigrant artists offers insight into the contemporary Canadian immigration experience which quantitative data is unable to capture. Learning about the barriers which immigrant artists face through using arts-based research includes the subject in the research, thereby empowering and validating their lived experiences as valuable epistemologies and ontologies. Findings reveal the impact of acculturation on the identities of and opportunities available to immigrant artists in Canada. Key Words: Immigrant Art; Immigration and Toronto; Place-making; Acculturation; Hybridity; Identity
