Kenya’s education has faced by many challenges especially in literacy and numeracy skills since the introduction of free primary education. This was contributed by swelling of enrollment in classrooms hence low performance of literacy and numeracy skills. The purpose of this article is to establish the extent to which stakeholder engagement influence performance of literacy and numeracy educational programme in public primary schools in Nairobi County, Kenya. Despite various efforts by key educational stakeholders to improve learner’s performance, minimal achievement have been experienced on learner’s skills. This study adapted descriptive research survey design and correlational research design. Data collected from the respondents by use of questionnaires and interview schedules from a target population of 2053 and a sample size of 335. Data was analyzed using SPSS version 25 and results presented in tables and figures. Arithmetic mean and standard deviation generated from the descriptive data and Pearson moment correlation coefficient (r) were computed. The coefficient of determination R2 is 0.480 this is an indicator that R2 was the coefficient of determination of this model and it depicted that stakeholder engagement explained 48%. The remaining 52% was explained by other factors. The overall F statistics 257.949 with p- 0.000b<0.05 implying a statistical significant relationship between stakeholder engagement and performance of literacy and numeracy educational programme. Interpretations were done and recommendations were policy makers should embrace the methodology of engaging all the stakeholders in programme. This was an indication of strong positive relationship between Stakeholder engagement and performance of literacy and numeracy educational programme. The results showed that stakeholder engagement for monitoring and evaluation strongly influenced the performance of literacy and numeracy educational programme as shown by a correlation coefficient, which was statically significant. Learners should explore more things on their own in order to make predictive answers. Recommendations for further research on participatory monitoring and evaluation practices, which was lacking and specifically involvement of all the stakeholders in the intervention programme in basic education.

To create a radical change within the educational system in public primary schools in Kenya, there is need to invest more on stakeholder capacity building specifically on monitoring and evaluation educational programme. The purpose of this article is to establish the extent to which stakeholder capacity building for monitoring and evaluation influence performance of literacy and numeracy educational programme. Despite numerous initiatives by key stakeholders to better performance of pupils little has been achieved. A descriptive survey research design and correlation design was adapted. Data collected from the respondents by use of questionnaires and interview guide from target population of 2052 and a sample size of 335.Data was analyzed using SPSS version 25 and results presented in tables and figures. Pearson moment correlation coefficient (r) were computed. The coefficient determination of R2 is 0.456 this is an indicator that R2 was the coefficient of determination of this model and it depicted that data collection explained 46%. The remaining 54% was explained by other factors. The overall F statistics 233.446 with p-0.00b<0 0.05 implying there is statistically significant relationship between stakeholder capacity building and performance of literacy and numeracy educational programme. The research suggests that stakeholder capacity building is part of the Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation process, so it must be observed at all stages to ensure educational programme are implemented to the latter by bringing on board all the key stakeholders in education and particularly in literacy and numeracy skills aspects

The dynamic nature of business operating environment has called on business leaders to be strategic in their leadership roles if they are to sustain their competitiveness into the unforeseen future. Growth is important in Sacco’s because it is future oriented establishing ways in which the organizational operations can be aligned to future changes in the business environment to ensure that competitiveness is sustained. The SACCOs in Kenya have experienced problems in the past; some even shutting down therefore there is need for customer growth to be enhanced so as to increase their incomes so as to sustain the business. These SACCOs have to look for leaders and managers who can develop future targets, direct and lead other staffs towards meeting the firm’s objective and gaining a competitive edge. The aim of this study was an assessment of corporate growth strategies and performance in savings and cooperative societies in Kenya, Nairobi County. The study sought to determine the influence of market expansion, diversification strategies and acquisition strategies. The study target population was 41 licensed SACCOs in Nairobi County. The study used primary data to collect information, and the data collection instrument was a questionnaire which was given to the 41 operations managers in the 41 selected SACCOs. The data collection procedure was done by the researcher and drop-and-pick strategy will be applied. The data was coded and keyed in Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS Version 23.0), and was analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. For descriptive statistics was through mean scores, standard deviations, frequencies and percentages, while the inferential statistics was through regression analysis to establish the relationship between strategic leadership and customer growth. The findings were presented in tables and charts for easy understanding, interpreting, and describing the data. The study established that market expansion, diversification strategies and acquisition strategies as corporate growth strategies had a positive and significant effect on the performance of SACCOs in Nairobi City County. The study concluded that the SACCOs significantly employed market expansion strategies through improved branch network, customer base enhancement, new distribution channels and technological innovation. The study concluded that the SACCOs embraced a hybrid of the main diversification strategies, diverse products and services significantly. It was concluded that to a little extent the selected SACCOs in Nairobi City County have employed acquisition as a corporate growth strategy. The study recommends that the SACCOs should embrace integrate technology in the implementation of corporate growth strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.  Further studies should be undertaken to establish the effect of corporate growth strategies on the performance of other SACCOs in other regions to establish the disparities or similarities among the financial sector players.

Background: The UK 5-year antimicrobial resistance (AMR) National Action Plan highlights the need to prevent community infections through education of children. Activities around infection prevention (IP) and antibiotics were piloted by UK youth groups in 2016–2018, prompting Public Health England (PHE) to develop a standardised programme. The aim of the study was to develop and pilot an educational programme on IP and antibiotics for use by community youth groups in the UK. Methods: A working group, including youth group volunteers interested in IP and AMR, agreed on the programme content through consensus, informed by the Capability, Opportunity, Motivation, Behaviour model (COM-B). The Antibiotic Guardian Youth Badge (AGYB) included learning through interactive e-Bug activities on IP and prudent antibiotic use, action setting through Antibiotic Guardian pledges and consolidation through poster development. The programme was piloted and evaluated with conveniently recruited youth groups in 2019, including quantitative and qualitative questionnaire feedback from community leaders and children. Results: Fourteen youth group leaders and 232 children from uniformed Girlguiding/Scout groups in England and Scotland participated in the pilot evaluation, as well as two primary schools. Leaders reported alignment to the themes of their youth organisation, but struggled to teach antibiotics and antibiotic resistance. Children reported enjoyment and intentions to improve hygiene behaviour. Conclusion: Community youth groups are a suitable setting for IP and antibiotics education. The AGYB was officially launched in March 2020 and promoted for use with home-schooling children and remote youth group meetings to educate about IP during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Internet of Things (IoT) technology is an information technology developed in recent years with the development of electronic sensors, intelligence, network transmission and control technologies. This is the third revolution in the development of information technology. This article aims to study the algorithm of the Internet of Things technology, through the investigation of the hazards of athletes’ sports training, scientifically and rationally use the Internet of Things technology to collect data on safety accidents in athletes’ sports training, thereby reducing the risk of athletes’ sports training and making athletes better. In this article, the methods of literature research, analysis and condensing, questionnaire survey, theory and experiment combination, etc., investigate the safety accident data collection of the Internet of Things technology in athletes’ sports training, and provide certain theories and methods for future in-depth research practice basis. The experimental results in this article show that 82% of athletes who are surveyed under the Internet of Things technology will have partial injuries during training, reducing the risk of safety accidents in athletes’ sports training, and better enabling Chinese athletes to achieve a consistent level of competition and performance through a virtuous cycle of development.

Describe the implementation of the fingerprint electronic absence policy on the discipline and performance of civil servants as well as the impact it has on implementing the fingerprint electronic absence policy. Qualitative descriptive method describes various conditions and situations as the object of research. The data collection techniques used were observation, documentation and interviews. After the implementation of fingerprint electronic attendance, discipline increases and obligations as employees have been carried out in accordance with applicable regulations. The application of sanctions in the regional government of seluma regency is in accordance with the regulations of civil servants and the provision of rewards for employees who excel has been carried out properly, to inspire other employees, so that they can work better.

This study focuses on the problems posed by the English non-modal operators to the undergraduate level students of Hazara University, Mansehra, Pakistan. The data was collected from hundred students selected through non-random and convenience sampling technique. A proficiency test was used as a tool for data collection. The test was focused on all the uses of non-modal operators. The results show that some of these problems were caused by the intervention of some of grammatical concepts like tense, aspect, back shifting and voice. While some grammatical operations like negation, interrogation and insertion/omission had no role and so were found comparatively easy. These operators when used after wh-word such as when, while, before and if posed difficulty for the subjects. Similarly, different forms such as non-tensed form and uses such as dynamic and non-dynamic of non-modal operators were also problematic for the subjects. The highest frequency of error was found in the use of non-model operator for emphasis and surprise. However, the degree of difficulty posed by non-modal operators in idiomatic expressions was not significant.

This study aims to determine, analyze, and describe the person deixis and the polarity of the use of the deixis, based on the Yule deixis theory. The deixis analysis in this study is not only looking for the existing deixis persona but also looking at the correlation in the grammatical deixis category in lingual units. The analysis is then connected with the concepts of competence and performance in the linguisic deixis unit to see the concepts of language and thinking of the writers in this novel. It is all the basis of the novelty of this study. This study uses a qualitative descriptive design that is consistent with linguisic research. Data collection techniques were carried out through qualitative methods, that is, the method of distribution using the BUL technique or direct division of data into the lingual unit and the analysis of the Spradely ethnic method to determine the domain, taxonomy, and componential person deixis. The data in this research include the written lingual unit whose marker of reference and types indicates or is recorded as deixis. The main data source is a series of stories from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes, particularly A Scandal in Bohemia which consists of three parts. The results of the analysis show that the persona in speech has other functions: as nominating, objective, and genitive markers. The polarity of the person deixis indirectly determines the concept of the author's competence and performance which unconsciously shapes the dominance and strength of the character that determines the centrality of the character and then also the storyline.

This article highlights how English language teachers professional development and training programmes fosters teachers’ professional competences in the teaching of the subject. English Language is vital in developing communication and social skills in learners as it does empower learners to compete favorably with their peers around the world. The ex-post factor approach of the survey design was adopted in the study. A random sampling technique was used to select twenty primary schools in Oyo state, Nigeria, with 168 English teachers who were currently undergoing the SUBEB/UBEC teacher professional development programme (2018). Two instruments: Teacher Teaching Competence Scale (TTCS) with Cronbach’s Alpha reliability coefficient of 0.68 and the Teachers Checklist Observation Scale (TCOS) with Scott Pi reliability coefficient of 0.71 were used for data collection. The data collection lasted for a period of fourteen weeks. Data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics and correlation at 0.05 level of significance. Results revealed that teacher’ attendance and exposure to a professional development and training programme; does enhance their professional teaching competences. It is therefore expedient that stakeholders in the education sector; especially governmental agencies, sponsor and encourage practicing primary teachers in attending and participating in professional development programmes; incentives should also be given to these teachers. This will go a long way at ensuring that these teachers look forward to attending such programmes at any time in the future
