Background: COVID-19 caused great anxiety and stress in patients, especially those treated in isolation wards. SARS-CoV-2 infected respiratory tract and caused acute respiratory syndrome with the consequent release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-1β and IL-6, resulting in a "cytokine storm". These cytokines were also elevated in psychiatric disorders such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the relationship between NLR and anxiety levels in COVID-19 patients at RSUP. H Adam Malik. Methods: This was an analytic observational study using cross-sectional design. This study was conducted from February to August 2021 on confirmed COVID-19 patients being treated at H. Adam Malik Hospital. The patient's anxiety scale was measured using the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) questionnaire. The NLR value were taken from the results of a blood test performed when patient was first admitted to the isolation room. The data were coded, tabulated, and analyzed using SPSS 23.00 software. The magnitude of the desired deviation (α) was 0.05, with p value of <0.05. Results: The median NLR ratio among 50 confirmed COVID-19 patients in each group respectively was 2.18, 5.03, 3.57 and 8.37. The median NLR ratio increased accordingly to the level of anxiety in COVID-19 patients, with p-value of <0.05 (p = 0.034). Conclusion: NLR ratio was significantly related to anxiety level among COVID-19 patients. Keywords: NLR, Anxiety Level, COVID-19, Neutrophil Lymphocyte Ratio.

Ascaris lumbricoides is nematode which often infest human in the world. The infestation of A. lumbricoides in the human will trigger the formation of Th2 immune responses through increased interleukin-4 released by innate immune cells. Th2 immune response generates B lymphocyte cells to produce IgE antibodies to eliminate A. lumbricoides. Therefore, IL-4 is a marker of Th2 immune response. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of ascariasis and an increase of IL-4 in planters infested with A. lumbricoides as a marker of Th2 immune response. Our study was observational analytic with cross sectional design. 230 planters who were willing to be involved in the study gave stool samples for the diagnosis of ascariasis. 20 people who were positive for ascariasis and 20 people who were negative selected randomly for blood plasma samples. IL-4 levels in blood plasma were measured using ELISA. Differences in IL4 levels between positive and negative ascariasis were analyzed by the Mann Whitney statistical test with p value ≤ 0.05. The prevalence of ascariasis among planters in rural area of Jember was 16,52% which was included low prevalence. Univariate analysis showed that the mean and median levels of IL-4 ascariasis were greater than those of healthy planters. Mann Whitney test results showed that there were differences in levels of IL-4 between ascariasis and healthy planters (p≤0.05). Increased levels of IL-4 in planters with ascariasis indicate that A. lumbricoides infection triggers the formation of Th2 immune response as a mechanism for eliminating A. lumbricoides. Keywords: Interleukin-4, A. lumbricoides, Th2 immune response.

Abstract: Gold is a mining commodity that has a high value. Tatelu’s gold processing is traditionally done with tromol machines that produce high intensity continous noise. Noise is a trigger of stress, which is one of the causes of dyspepsia. This study aimed to find out the relationship between continous noise exposure of the mining tromol and dyspepsia complaints among Tatelu villagers. The study was done by using a cross sectional design. The samples were divided into two groups: the control and the exposed groups. Each group consisted of 20 people. Interviews used structured questionnaires, and dyspepsia diagnostics were based on  Rome Consensus III. The characteristics of samples and the prevalence of dyspepsia complaints were assessed using univariate analysis. Chi square was used to assess the relationship between continous noise exposure of the tromols with complaints of dyspepsia. The results showed that in residential areas exposed to noise, 70% of the samples had complaints of dyspepsia, while in the control area there were only 25%. The results of the statistical analysis using the Chi square showed the value x2count (8.12) > x2table (3.84) and the P-value = 0.004 < 0.05 with α < 5%. Conclusion: There was a significant relationship between the continous noise exposure from the gold tromols with the complaints of dyspepsia among Tatelu villagers. Keywords: noise, stress, dyspepsia.     Abstrak: Emas merupakan komoditi tambang yang mempunyai nilai tinggi.
