Engine room noise can cause hearing loss. The objective of this research was to analyze the prevalence of Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) and its affecting factors on machinery ferry operators at Ketapang-Gilimanuk. This was an observational with cross sectional design, the techniques for collecting data were interviews, noise intensity measurements and audiometric examination. The sample was 66 operators who were selected randomly after inclusion. The study results showed that 36% of ferry have noise intensity ² 85 dBA and 64% have > 85 dBA. The audiometric examination with pure tone result of the 66 operators showed that 34.85% of respondent had NIHL. The age and length of exposure affected NIHL incidence (p < 0.05). While the noise intensity affected the incidence of NIHL (p > 0.05) together with age and lenght of exposure. It is important to reduce exposure time of noisy operations on workers, automation of activities and increase the distance between workers and noisy equipment to minimise the noise exposure.

Exposure to extruder machine noise can cause non-auditory effects such as communication disorders. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of extruder machine noise exposure on the non-auditory effects of PT. X Sidoarjo in 2018. This research is an observational analytic study with cross sectional design. The research respondents were 60 people consisting of two groups, namely groups of workers in the extruder unit and office staff groups. The group of workers in the extruder unit is a group that is exposed to high noise while the office staff group is a control group that is exposed to low noise. Sampling is done by simple random sampling method. The independent variables in this study were the level of extruder machine noise exposure and the dependent variable in this study, which were non auditory effects which included communication disorders. Noise in the area of the extruder machine shows a number that exceeds the Threshold Value The limit is 85 dBA. The results of the questionnaire analysis showed that 81.6% of workers felt a communication disruption due to exposure to extruder machines at PT. X Sidoarjo. Efforts can be made to reduce the level of extruder noise exposure by the need for periodic engine maintenance, dampers to reduce the noise level of the extruder machine and work rotation is needed to reduce the impact of extruder machine noise exposure on workers.

Introduction: Marbel mining in Tulungagung caused air quality pollution of dust. The level of air pollution in the marble industrial mining area in Besole village, Tulungagung, was a high category. Air pollutions from dust cause fibrosis in the lungs if continuously inhaled. This marble dust belongs to the group of differentiative dust—pulmonary disorders due to dust in the form of restriction, obstruction, or mixture of the two. The study aims to analyze the internal factors related to lung conditions in one of the Besole Village industries, Tulungagung. Method: research that has been done using cross-sectional design through a quantitative approach. Determination of the sample size by simple random sampling. Twenty-four workers consisting of 12 exposed and 12 were not exposed to dust. Result and Discussion: The results of measurements of marble dust levels in the study area were 20,000 mg/m3, which exceeds the specified threshold value. Meanwhile, the statistical test value p= 0.000 means a relationship between dust levels and the condition of workers’ lungs in the exposed area. Most workers’ lung conditions in one of the Besole village industries are quite good. Conclusion: The condition of the lungs is closely related to dust levels that exceed the threshold value. The lungs’ condition is also influenced by work time and poor behavior, namely the habit of not wearing PPE and smoking habits, causing decreased lung function.

Abstract: Noise is one of the unavoidable problems as a result of technological development. Hearing loss due to noise is called sensorineural hearing loss, which is oftenly not realized because it does not disturb daily conversation. Risk factors of hearing loss are inter alia noise intensity, length of employment, length of noise exposure in a day, and the usage of Ear Protective Equipment (EPE). This study aimed to determine the relationship between noise and hearing function among ship engine technicians in Bitung Port. This was an analytical study using a cross-sectional design. Samples consisted of 20 respondents. Noise measurement obtained noise intensities of 87 dB and 93 dB. Of 20 respondents, there were 7 exposed to over a predetermined noise. The audiometric examination showed 3 of 20 respondents (15%) with hearing loss. The bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between hearing loss and noise intensity (p = 0.008). Conclusion: There was a significant relationship between noise and hearing function among ship engine technicians in Bitung port. Keywords: noise, ship engines technician, hearingAbstrak: Kebisingan merupakan salah satu masalah yang tidak dapat dihindari akibat kemajuan teknologi.
