This article aims to discuss Formative Assessment as a relevant tool for the enhancement of teaching-learning from the perspective of a teacher and 10 (ten) students of a fourth year class of the Integrated Modality of the Federal Institute of Bahia campus Vitória da Conquest. Based on authors such as Perrenoud (1999), Luckesi (2005) and Guerra (2017) we conducted a qualitative exploratory research, with data production based on objective questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. We could perceive through the analysis of the data produced that Formative Assessment enhances teaching-learning and promotes the improvement of teaching practice, generating a collaborative learning environment, through the interaction between teachers and students, even improving the relationship between all involved in the educational process.

Mobile technology is now part of the everyday life of teachers and students and thus tends to become an inseparable part of the educational activities. Teachers and students are increasingly using mobile technologies in teaching and learning. Therefore, it is purposeful to responsibly integrate technologies into the educational process. However, technical and pedagogical support is necessary in order to facilitate both teacher and students’ understanding of this educational potential. Besides, it is still very little known and there is very little evidence about the effectiveness of the application of these technologies in the teaching/learning process. This research aims to explore the perceptions of Romanian and Lithuanian teachers regarding the use of mobile technologies in education. Keywords: motivation to learn, mobile technology, preliminary study, science education, science teachers.

Writing skill is seen as a cornerstone of university students’ success in both academic and career life. This qualitative study was conducted to further explore the teachers’ and students’ perceptions on the relationship between writing apprehension and writing performance, contributing factors of writing apprehension, and strategies to reduce writing apprehension. Semi-structured interviews were conducted to get more in-depth information from two respondents: one experienced instructor of teaching writing at the Centre for Languages and Pre-University Academic Development (CELPAD), International Islamic University Malaysia, and another, a graduate student who was reported to having a high level of writing apprehension using Daly and Miller’s (1975) questionnaire on writing apprehension. Thematic analysis approach was used for data analysis. Both respondents were convinced that writing apprehension has a negative influence on students’ writing performance; the sources of contributing factors could be students, instructors, and teaching learning setting; and writing apprehension could be reduced through suggested strategies. It is recommended that instructors should be more aware of students’ problems in the writing skill.

This paper examined the perception of using social media tools to support learning among Ph.D. Saudi students at the University of Glasgow. It also examined the benefits of using social media tools for learning and the important role that these tools can play to facilitate the educational process. Moreover, it examined the barriers they could face during the use of social media tools in the education process. Participants in this study were 3 Ph.D. Saudi students at the University of Glasgow. Semi-structured interviews were used to collect data for this study. The results indicate that students, both male and female, are using social media tools and their opinions largely coincide regarding the benefits of and barriers to social media usage. The results pointed out that the major barriers to using these tools in learning were a distraction, privacy, and the lack of available high-speed Internet. The study recommended that this study could be replicated at other Saudi Ph.D. students at different universities to investigate teachers and students' perception to use these modern technologies for learning as well as find out factors and barriers that might affect Saudi teachers and students’ attitudes toward using social media tools for learning.

Abstract: Introduction: Clinical Communication is an instrument for interaction between professionals and between them and users, being extremely important to ensure integral care. The complexity of the users’ biopsychosocial demands must be understood and worked through skills developed beyond the technical and biomedical knowledge, including a more extensive training in relation to the human being. In the curriculum of a medical school institution in the interior of São Paulo, Clinical Communication is a skill expected of the student in all undergraduate scenarios. During medical internship, it is important that communication practice be developed in an integrated fashion, considering the biopsychosocial aspects of the subject under care; however, the literature demonstrates that this skill is superficially explored in training, causing difficulty for its effectiveness. Thus, it can be assumed that there are different understandings about the concept of Clinical Communication and its theoretical-practical articulation between teachers and students, being necessary to analyze this educational process during internship. Objective: Thus, the objective was to question how teachers and students from a medical course internship understand the teaching-learning aspects about Clinical Communication in an integrated and competence-based curriculum. Method: This was a qualitative study, which included eleven 5th-year medical students, twelve 6th-year medical students and nine internship teachers. The interviews were semi-directed and carried out based on an interview script, which were later transcribed and submitted to the analysis of content, thematic modality. Results: Three categories emerged from the concepts and characteristics of the topics “Clinical Communication” and “Curriculum”: 1) What involves clinical communication; 2) Development of clinical communication during the undergraduate course and 3) Proposals for the training of internship students and teachers. It was observed that the participants understood the concept of Clinical Communication and its importance for the students’ training, but also that it is difficult to develop this training due to the lack of knowledge about the curriculum, student work overload and teacher devaluation. Conclusion: The study considers the development of Clinical Communication skills of internship students and the possibilities for reflection on gaps mentioned by students and teachers.

Food is an interdisciplinary topic that transverses different areas of knowledge, allowing it to be used as a pedagogical resource in numerous teaching-learning processes and environments. This paper seeks to contribute to early debates on the relationship between public procurement and food pedagogies in schools and universities, a topic that is still little addressed in the literature. I explore the Farm to Cafeteria Canada (F2CC) network in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, which beyond institutional procurement recognises food as a pedagogical resource at schools and on campus. My research is based on 18 site visits and qualitative analysis of documents and 9 semi-structured interviews conducted with institutional administrators associated with F2CC in Metro Vancouver. This paper demonstrates how the F2CC network activities in Metro Vancouver contribute not only to food procurement, but also to the practical development of pedagogical activities from different areas of knowledge and in different educational spaces.

The Covid-19 pandemic pushed the limits and limitations of all educational systems, teachers and students around the world. The solution adopted – distance, online teaching, learning and assessment – has proven to be of a longer duration than initially anticipated, to the frustration of students, parents, and teachers alike. Nonetheless, following a careful analysis of these processes over the last (two) semesters, surprising findings point out to the fact that the digital experience has brought forth, at least at the higher-education level, substantial positive outcomes that cannot be neglected. It has strengthened the digital skills that both students and teachers will need in a technology dominated future and has made the actors of the educational process aware of the constant need for an innovative look and creative approach toward sharing and assimilating the impressive amount of knowledge existent nowadays. The present article aims at discovering both the strengths and the weaknesses, the motivational factors and the technical difficulties that have characterized the recent online educational process; it also inquires to what extent this type of learning will be an integral part of our daily lives in the academia, once the on-site courses will be resumed.

This study aims to present the plurality of the teacher’s perception, which emerges from the actions taken to minimize the difficulties that come up in remote education. Its relevance is found in the actions and reactions of those involved, and make up possibilities for generating public policies that motivate and foster quality education. The following research question guided this work: What lessons could be learned by those involved in their teaching practice after schools reopen? An exploratory research was carried out, by choosing the methodological approach of qualitative research. Data collection was performed using an online questionnaire, directed to teachers who worked in the classroom and started working in remote education. Sharing knowledge is complex and demands a variety of actions, interventions, processes that, however sophisticated the technology used, it certainly does not allow to develop all the strategies that the teacher uses in the classroom. Technologies help with physical distance. But we believe the exchange that happens naturally between teacher and student, and between student and student, exists only when everyone is in the same physical environment, under the same physical and human conditions, especially in basic education. The lessons learned: (i) improve our training or post-training with the introduction of disciplines related to digital and technological means; (ii) understand that remote education is a possibility to be applied in our teaching practice; (iii) include viable teaching, learning and assessment alternatives in the Political Pedagogical Project; (iv) at parent-teacher conferences or class meetings, seek to collect all possible observations, both positive and negative. We need to considerate new routes, minimize the questions that arise during practice, in order to adapt to the new technological strategies of the art of teaching.

ICT role in education nowadays is not only important, but also effective; its advancement allows a vast opportunity to be explored by EFL teachers into the EFL classroom. This action-research study envisioned and carried out from our teaching practice basis with English language B1 level students at Weisheit institute. Observation and instruments Implementation stages determined the positive impact of the integration of Wikis in EFL classrooms and how cooperative writing processes eased and helped the students improve their writing performance. Indeed, taking into account as a main strategy the “ICT” as a tool to improve teaching practices. This research was conducted through mixed-method approach and included a methodical process through data collection of journals, pre and post writing tests, semi-structured interviews and aptitude test. Of course, by looking upon that the application of these instruments helped us identify certain points of particular interest providing self-reflection on our own teaching-learning processes regarding as main problems; lack of writing skills, lack of vocabulary, grammar mistakes and writing inaccuracy. The strategies implemented had to do mainly with the integration of Wiki websites as a pedagogical instrument to improve writing skills through pre-writing eye-catching elements such as videos implementation in order to trigger motivational writing processes.
