Abstract- In a modern environment, the existence of genius loci is starting to become rare. Places seem to lose their defining characteristics and this diminishes people’s experience with them. In 2015, Sunaryo succeeded in building Wot Batu as a place that can exemplify a “man-made place” created in “modern” times that can showcase the existence of a genius loci. Therefore, this research discusses the factors that contribute to the emergence of genius loci and how it emerged in Wot Batu. This research employs a descriptive-qualitative approach. The researcher analyzes theories that are related to definitions of, factors that constitute place, and types of genius loci, which are then utilized to provide an observation of the object. The data that is gathered consist of organizations of spatial structure and articulation of concrete properties. In addition, the researcher also interviewed Sunaryo Sutono about the background of Wot Batu.  The researcher identifies and classifies said data in a table of factors that constitute place which are then summarized to serve as a basis for explaining the genius loci that is established in Wot Batu. In Wot Batu, the creator’s strong intent to express spiritual meanings is accomplished in a specific way. The complexity of that spiritual understanding is manifested in its spatial structures and concrete properties that are impressively detailed. The ideas and personal life experiences that were once only found in Sunaryo Sutono’s mind are brought into the world as a very specific place, and those things eventually coalesce into a totality and form genius loci that is meaningful to its user.  Key Words: genius loci, Wot Batu, Sunaryo, Ciburial Bandung

Approximately 1.4 billion of the world's population lives on less than USD 1 per day, and since 50% of the poorest people are in Muslim countries, the solution is to increase successful Muslim entrepreneurs. Hence, this study aims to create a conceptual model through a literature review and descriptive-qualitative approach. These were employed to determine the indicators of successful Muslim entrepreneurs and the expected factors required to provide a positive and significant effect. Meanwhile, four factors and indicators, each considered to influence successful Muslim entrepreneurs, were identified. Subsequently, the results obtained were conceptual papers and hypotheses that required testing to ensure correctness. It was also used to produce new constructs validated for the individuals and communities of Muslim entrepreneurs. Therefore, this conceptual model is hoped to motivate new, future research and has also been enhanced as a pioneer that has attempted to construct a model for successful Muslim entrepreneurs. Finally, a conceptual model was created, which is the initial contribution to solving poverty among the Muslim population in the world.

Islam is a religion that highly respects and appreci-ates the values of humanity and puts strong emphasis on the creation of peace and harmony among humankind. It rejects and even condemns violent actions in any form with any means. However, the facts show us that ideological and political contestation, among the existed groups in Islam, often lead to open conflict, as can be observed in several cases. The article attempts to portray the contestation of Islamic Fundamentalist group and Islamic Liberal group in Indonesia. Although there have been many studies conducted and published on this issue, I see yet the importance of discussion about the issue. The significance could be observed in the fact that it is one of socio-religious problems faced by the Muslim community around the world, including Indonesia. Employing descriptive-qualitative approach the study stresses that different perspectives used and dissimilarly opposite interpretation produced by each group in understanding and interpreting the religious texts have resulted in massively deep but even hot contestation between the two groups. While the Islamic Fundamentalist group tends to see the holy texts in their narrow and rigid understanding, the Islamic Liberal one understands the texts loosely and, to a lesser extent, unrestrained.
