In the practice of teaching school subjects, there is a positive experience of using project and research activities of schoolchildren, but when they are implemented, there is a mix of activities. The relevance of the research is due to the practical need to distinguish project-research activity as a special type of cognitive activity. The issue of convergence of project and research within the same cognitive activity is discussed, which creates the need to allocate a special type of independent cognitive activity of schoolchildren – project-research activity. Theoretical analysis of scientific-methodical literature allows us to generalize the signs, bringing project and research activities: a) independence of students as a condition of activities; b) the requirement of affordability and adaptability of the methods used; c) obtaining a subjectively meaningful and new results; d) the possibility of important personal qualities and teaching skills development; e) community of some stages: detection of relevant problems, determining goals and objectives, design and presentation of results. The author compares project, research and project-research activities based on the following characteristics: predictability of the work result, stages, goal, novelty of the result, performance criteria, implementation – and comes to the conclusion that project-research activity is a special type of educational activity with its inherent differentiating characteristics.

According to the primary school natural science education curricula cognitive activity has to be diverse and its content must be permanently changed. It is purposeful to supplement the educational process with children’s literature, music, folklore, acting, drawing and games (General Curricula and Education Standards, 2003). Game is one of the most universal and efficient child’s primary education strategies. Creative and orientated combination of game and artistic activities in the process of natural science education enables to seek that primary school students both perceive the environment as the aesthetic totality and get used to take care of it, both notice the beauty of nature phenomena and objects and feel the need to take care of nature, both perceive the interdependence of animate and inanimate nature and feel the interrelation of nature with various arts and artistic activities. Observation is the activity that is accessible to primary class pupils and serves as a basis for more complex steps in the teaching and learning process. Because the observation of the nearest environment can be strongly encouraged by the wish to depict the objects of the nearest environment in various ways, this article presents the examples of games employing depiction means, which not only integrate natural science education and artistic education but also promote active cognitive environmental research activity. Key words: primary education, cognitive activity, game employing depiction means.

This article considers the issue of accustoming primary school students to research activities and basically focuses on information technology, which is the main tool for increasing cognitive activity. We define joint creative activities of teacher and student, which are carried out in seeking the solution of the unknown problem defined as an academic goal of students, and as a result of which cultural values are passed on as research activities. In this case, the teacher acts as the organiser of the forms and situations of research activity. It is insufficient for school children just to make a decision in solving the problems occurring in academic goals, the results achieved in the implementation process should be helpful for someone. From this point of view, the issue of molding a motivation, which permanently leads the student to master study-research skills, will be on the agenda.

Senior preschooler is a sensitive period in the development of the cognitive activity. Exactly in this age, child learns to clearly realize intended goal and search for the ways to implement it independently. In the sixth year of life, the children start to possess ability for arbitrary memorizing; the creative and logical thinking actively develops; the interest for constructive work increases. The constructive work is complex cognitive activity during which a child learns skills, select significant signs, establish relations and connections between details and objects. The use of Lego-technology in the play and education purposes allows to solve complex cognitive, exploratory and creative tasks in the interesting, available, comprehensible, game form. The tasks of the educational activity with the preschool children are solved with the help of the construction toys on such directions: development of fine motor skills; development of attention, memory, thinking; training of correct and fast direction finding; acquisition of mathematical knowledge about quantity, form, proportions, symmetry; extension of the perceptions of children about the world around, architecture; development of the imaginations, creativity; training of the communication with each other, respect for their work and work of other people.

The article examines the goals and objectives of the methodology for forming the research competence of students, using the example of the study of the internal viscosity coefficient of a liquid. The results of the study allowed us to establish components of subject research competence and find out its main structural elements - the readiness, ability of students to perform educational research, following the stages of organizing research activities, which are based on the logic of implementation of a research project. The practical implementation of the formation of this competence is one of the topical issues of educational practice of the pedagogical University, since its results deepen, expand and specify modern ideas about the information and communication capabilities of cognitive activity of students.

The author outlines that in connection with the need to develop students' abilities and skills for organizing independent research activities, a psychological and pedagogical analysis of the organization of university students’ research activities is made, and the basic tasks of developing the students' ability to do research work are formulated. Methods of research. To diagnose the development of this quality, research methods such as questionnaires, analysis, and comparative evaluation were used. The study defined quality, based on which we can generate interest in students to do research activities – the ability to cognitive activity, awareness of actions, independent approach to creative problem solving, commitment to self-development and self-education. It is noted that for development of skills for doing research work it is recommended to engage students in the situations where it is necessary to find the solution to problems, help them to analyze qualitative changes and to predict the results of a particular process development. In the course of experimental work carried out by lecturers of the Lipetsk State Technical University, positive changes, indicating the development of the ability in students to do research activity in the process, organized to introduce students to research work at different stages of their training were identified.

Along with the development of society, comes the development of crime. Advances in science and technology are used not only for constructive purposes, but also for destructive, criminal ones, making the work of law enforcement officers much more difficult. In order to effectively confront the crime that keeps pace with the times, attention must be paid to the process of training cadets – future law enforcement officers. As one of the most important aspects of preparing cadets for future professional activity the author highlights the formation of research skills. Based on the analysis of the literature on the research activities of students of higher educational institutions, the prerequisites for the formation of research skills among cadets are revealed. The stages of mastering of research activities by students are described, as well as barriers that hinder such mastery. The manifestations of creativity and research activities are specified, which are necessary even in the conditions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system with the dominance of subordination and imperative methods of interaction. As a result of the research, it was concluded that the future professional activity of cadets inevitably includes a research component. Keywords: research activity, research skills, research competence, cognitive activity, search activity, stages of mastering the research activity
