This study examines the attitudes and future plans of students who discontinued their studies in university certificate programs. These non-returning students were separated into three groups: opt-outs, stop-outs, and drop-outs. Two separate surveys were undertaken; one survey consisted of students enrolled in a certificate program offered by the University of Saskatchewan, and the other consisted of students enrolled in several certificate programs offered by the University of Manitoba. The study examined three primary questions:What proportion of non-returning students commenced their certificate studies with the intention of completing the program and earning the certificate? What proportion of non-returning students intend to return to complete their program? What attitudes do these students have toward the certificate program in which they had enrolled?Several findings of special significance are reported. First, approximately one-quarter of the students in this study indicated that they entered their certificate program with no intention of completing the program. Second, a significant proportion of the students in this study indicated an intention to return and complete their certificate program. Finally, respondents indicated a very high level of satisfaction with their university experience despite the discontinuation of their studies. The implications of these findings for the marketing of certificate programs are examined and suggestions for further research are offered.

Abstract. Sports events contribute to create a new image of the host country by attracting visitors, spectators, and media attention. Literature suggests that these events could be categorized as services. Research also shows a direct correlation between the level of satisfaction of actors attending these events and, for example, the economic revenue obtained by the host city. For that reason, it is critical to measure what the most valued aspects or elements are for those attending such events. Measuring sports events attendees’ level of satisfaction is usually done through a self-administered survey that measures service quality by using the Eventqual scale, as well as perceived value and other attitudinal variables. Experience worldwide with this kind of surveys show that respondents’ segmentation (age, gender, socio-economic group, spending patterns, etc.) are key to determine their perceived level of satisfaction. The objective of the present study was to analyse the satisfaction of crowd, referees, volunteers and athletes attending the University Games 2015 that took place in Granada (Spain), with results showing a high level of satisfaction.

We describe the development and evaluation of the university-wide, weeklong undergraduate research conference at the University of New Hampshire.  Despite increases nationally in the number of undergraduate research conferences (URC), there has been little research examining the social and educational impact of these events on student presenters. We describe the development and evaluation of the university-wide, weeklong URC at the University of New Hampshire. A survey administered to URC participants over a four year period revealed that research culminating in a presentation at the URC was one of the more influential events students experienced during their undergraduate years and students realized a high level of satisfaction from presenting at the URC.

The epidemic situation in Ukraine in the autumn of 2020 with regard to the COVID-19 pandemic required the continuation of quarantine restrictions and the educational process in almost all higher education institutions in Ukraine went online. The aim of the study was to analyze the psychological aspects of students’ learning in the context of emergency distance learning during the quarantine of the COVID-19 pandemic, distance learning satisfaction, and success of adaptation. The data were collected in November 2020 during the second wave of emergency distance learning. The study involved 448 students of higher education institutions aged 18 to 23. The following questionnaires were used for the data collection: the questionnaire of attitude to distance learning (I. Galetska, V. Mushketa), supplemented by the questionnaire of behaviour in the context of distance learning (M. Klimanska, M. Perun), the questionnaire of people's lives in quarantine «Thermometer-COVID» (I. Haletska, M. Klimanska), The academic motivation scale (R.Vallerand, adaptation by O. Zakharko), Patient Health Questionnaire (modules PHQ-9 and GAD-7), The questionnaire on positive and negative affects (OPANA) (M. Klimanska, I. Haletska), short essays by students about their own experiences of the distance learning situation. 33% of students like to study remotely as opposed to 14% of students who are very dissatisfied with distance learning. The vast majority of students, 65,2%, attend classes and 52,1% prepare for seminars no less than before the announcement of distance learning. Students, in general, like the quality of teaching (33,1%) and the organization of education (28,2%), they declare, that now they have more time (41%). At the same time, 34,7% rate the level of education as the worse. 52,1% of students consider too much homework to be a key problem, 41,7% of respondents feel a constant temptation to do other things, 43,5% of students declare the complexity of self-organization and adherence to the regime, at the same time, a significant proportion of students, 21,8% , note that they have no problems with it. As the main positives of distance learning, 79% of students indicate savings of travel time, and travel costs 75,1%. 49,3% of students say that due to distance learning there is much more time for communication with friends, 45,8% - more time for independent work. 37,2% of respondents indicated that for them personally the availability of greater opportunities for сheating (copying) during online testing is a significant positive, and 13,7% do not consider it as an important advantage of distance learning for themselves. Students noted physical discomfort (27%), a great amount of educational tasks (25,7%), the temptation of other things (18%), difficulties in adhering to the regime (11%) as the greatest weaknesses and problems of distance learning. Three types of adaptation to distance learning were identified with the help of cluster analysis: 1) “Adapted” students (33%), show a high level of satisfaction with distance learning and high efficiency of adaptation to new learning conditions; have successfully adapted to the conditions of distance learning and see the benefits of time saving, increasing freedom of movement in it, as well as opportunities for independent learning ; 2) “Disadapted” students (31%) feel dissatisfaction and disadaptation in the situation of distance learning, which are manifested in the lack of academic motivation and ignoring learning, as well as in a higher level of anxiety, depression and negative affect in general; 3) “Frustrated” students (36%), show above average level of satisfaction with distance learning, a high level of activity in preparation for seminars in combination with a high level of academic maladaptation; despite the high level of academic motivation, they have significant difficulties in self-organization, as a result they are feeling constant distress, which is affecting negatively mental and physical health. The results of the study show that distance learning has become a catalyst for the exploration of differences in learning motivation and adaptability of students. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the ergonomic conditions for distance learning, as well as to develop recommendations and trainings for the formation of self-regulation and adaptability for students.

Aim. Evaluation of maternal forms in terms of morphological and economic characteristics, assessment of their combination ability. Results and Discussion. 175 maize self-pollinated lines of different geographical origin were explored. The level of the combining ability of maize lines was determined by the main quantitative characteristics: plant productivity, ear length, grain number on ear, row number on ear, weight of 1000 grains, representing their breeding suitability. Donor properties were revealed in 14 lines of their own breeding, in which a high level of characters manifests itself in hybrid combinations. Among the studied simple hybrids with the participation of these lines, productive combinations were highlighted: UHI 5/Kharkivska 126, UFF 4/Kharkivska 164; UHF 175/Kharkivska 164; UHK 568/Kharkivska 164; UHK 579 / Kharkivska 164 with a yield capacity of 9.4-11.1t/ha with a standard yield of 6.8-7.8t/ha. Among the lines of foreign origin, high combining ability in crosses with domestic lines was found in the lines RF 90 from the Illinois University (USA), lines SK 543/18, SK 591/18 from the University of Manitoba (Canada), 1028 SPT from the Liaoning Academy of Agriculture (China). Conclusions. The self-pollinated lines of maize are identified, which are a valuable source material for creating new promising hybrids with a complex of valuable economic traits. Their use will increase the efficiency of the breeding process and ensure its acceleration by 4-5 years.

Client satisfaction is an influential predictor of academic life, such as services delivered with suitable standards. Thus, the study focused on determining the level of client satisfaction on the frontline services of Cagayan State University in Aparri, Philippines from the perspective of students and employees. To assess suitability, relevance, and to ensure adequate and reliable information for the evaluation of the study, the researchers adopted the descriptive- evaluative design and ascertained the level of clients’ satisfaction on the frontline services received and experienced on the campus. The study, however, was limited to the assessment of the respondents on their level of contentment only on the frontline services and providers they have encountered. The results indicated a very high level of satisfaction with which heads of offices have gained higher satisfaction ratings than that of their staff. When grouped according to the respondents’ profile, the older students rated higher the frontline services and providers than the younger ones. At the same time, regular employees have a higher level of satisfaction as compared to non-regular. The result of the study manifests students' and employees’ very high contentment with the actual performances of the frontline service providers.

Stakeholders’ satisfaction is essential for sustainability. It provides opportunities for learning the strengths and weaknesses of an institution or organization to design and improve the quality of its services to promote goodwill and effective partnerships with the industry and the community. This descriptive study discusses and illustrates how a leading maritime university implements a process model for addressing industry feedback in the Philippines based on a trend of data gathered for nine consecutive years (2011 – 2019). This paper also mentions the actions taken by the University to address the issues and concerns raised by the industry stakeholders represented by shipping company Presidents, Crewing Managers, and Training Officers, particularly on the quality of graduates that it produces vis-à-vis the expectations of the industry. This study used the mixed methods of gathering data. The results revealed a trend in the level of satisfaction of the industry stakeholders, which point to a consistently high level of satisfaction with minimal declines at certain points from the quality of students that the school is producing to the quality of services provided over the years. Certain factors have been discussed as possibly influential in the decline of the stakeholders’ level of satisfaction. After implementing the work processes to address industry feedback, it was found to be working well and is now being considered by the administration as one of its best practices. To date, the University is continuously maximizing all strategies possible to sustain its performance in meeting the industry’s expectations.

Purpose The purpose of the paper is the analysis of the evolution of students’ satisfaction over time in a large Italian university and the effects on it because of some characteristics of the teachers: didactic practices, beliefs and needs with regard to teaching and learning. Design/methodology/approach The first step of the analysis identifies a latent construct, measured with items composing the questionnaire, and proposes a reduced set of indicators to measure satisfaction and to model its evolution over time (information collected in three consecutive academic years is available). A second step clusters teachers in homogenous groups with reference to their opinions, beliefs and needs, collected with a new survey conducted at the University of Padova, with the aim of developing strategies to support academic teachers. Then, a mixture conditional latent growth model is estimated with covariates affecting the latent parameters and class membership. Findings Model estimation identifies a large group of university courses with a high level of satisfaction, which stays constant over time, and a small group of problematic courses with low satisfaction, moreover, that decreases over the three considered academic years. Interesting significant effects of covariates related to both the teacher and the didactic activity are estimated. Originality/value Statistical analyses show that the implementation of innovative didactic practices and commitment to quality of teaching are important factors to be encouraged by the university management. On the contrary, the traditionalist way of teaching and a low passion for teaching do not improve students’ satisfaction.
