Abstract— This study aims to determine the considerations taken by students of the Faculty of Economics, University of Merdeka Madiun to invest in the capital market through the Investment Gallery of Merdeka Madiun University. Some of the factors chosen to see the consideration in investing are (1) Minimum Capital variable, (2) Return variable, and (3) Capital Market Education variable. Students as investors still have limitations, so the factors that are considered in making investment decisions or investment interests are not too many. This research is an associative study because it is to determine the relationship between Minimum Capital for Investment, Return and Capital Market Education on Student Interest. The research analysis technique uses multiple linear analysis. Respondents in this study were still limited to the Faculty of Economics because in the Investment Gallery of Merdeka Madiun University most of the investors were from the Faculty of Economics. Meanwhile, from other faculties, knowledge of investment options is still common. This study used a sample of 106 students who met the criteria set, from a population of 417 students who had open accounts at the Investment Gallery of the Merdeka University of Madiun. The results showed that: (1) the Minimum Investment Capital variable partially had no significant effect on the Investment Interest variable, (2) the Return variable partially had a significant effect on the Investment Interest variable, (3) the Capital Market Education variable partially had a significant effect on the Interest variable. Investment, and (4) the Minimum Investment Capital, Return, and Capital Market Education variables simultaneously (simultaneously) have an effect on the Investment Interest variable. Of the three variables the dominant influence on student interest is Return. From the results of this research, it can be used as a basis for managers of the Investment Gallery at Merdeka Madiun University to develop a development strategy. Investors from students within the University of Merdeka Madiun itself can be increased through capital market education activities carried out on campus personally or by opening classes. In order to attract potential investors outside the campus, more intense education is also needed, through communities because investment in the capital market is still something new in Indonesian society. Keywords—: Investment Interests; Capital Market; Minimum Investment Capital; Return; Capital Market Education.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to discuss corporate governance in state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in Lesotho to influence policy debates. Design/methodology/approach This is a desktop study that used the qualitative research approach. For this research, the case study method has been adopted. In terms of orientation, this is descriptive research. Data were collected from three-tiered sources: independent publications (e.g. World Bank); government publications; and newspaper articles. Data analysis was in the form of document analysis. Findings The study concluded that there are instances of poor and/or bad governance in SOEs in Lesotho. Egregious examples include transgressing against the Public Financial Management Act (2011) and the failure to submit Audited Financial Results. Research limitations/implications The findings are limited to a specific case. Nonetheless, there are general lessons that can be drawn for African countries from the case study. A key general lesson is the imperative need to reconfigure the legal-institutional architecture of SOEs so that they create public value. Practical implications Other than cataloguing instances of poor and/or bad governance in SOEs in Lesotho, the paper goes further and accordingly makes policy recommendations to enhance corporate governance in SOEs in Lesotho. Originality/value There is no academic study on corporate governance in SOEs in Lesotho; therefore, there is a gap in the literature. Hence, the study makes an original contribution to the literature.

In my thesis, I explore the constituents of an organizational crisis for Investor Relations and the capital market in Germany. The literature review reveals a research gap on crisis research for these organizational groups as well as on qualitative research in the field. Grounding my research within the hermeneutic phenomenological tradition, I conduct an instrumental case study on BP and the Deepwater Horizon oil spill to obtain the required pre-understanding. I use secondary data by means of newspaper articles from three UK national newspapers. The findings from the instrumental case study guide the collection of primary data. I conduct interviews with Investor Relations managers and institutional capital market participants. I analyze the interview data using thematic analysis. A crisis that is considered relevant for Investor Relations and the capital market shows different characteristics than those relevant for other organizational crises. My study extends existing crisis frameworks by adding impacts and the perspective from a specific corporate function and the related stakeholder group. It offers a new conceptualization of crisis. Research regarding impacts on capital markets is often associated with quantitative research, using secondary data to assess effects on share prices. My research seeks to explore the underlying mechanisms of effects on Investor Relations and the capital market by employing a twofold exploratory approach. Therefore, my qualitative approach is methodologically relevant. I demonstrate that qualitative research can be applied successfully in this domain and obtain meaningful results.
