Background. The human organism is constantly affected by metabolic risk factors. All of them for a long time are asymptomatic and often form in early childhood long before clinical manifestations. However, morphogenesis and morphofunctional features of age-related structural changes in blood vessels of different sites are poorly studied.Objective. To evaluate the morphometric characteristics of arterial bed remodeling of hind limbs in white rats of PRA and RA with experimentally induced hypercholesterolemia.Methods. The tissues biopsies from femoral, knee and shin areas were studied by means of histological and morphometric methods.Results. Experimental hypercholesterolemia caused remodeling of vessels with increasing thickness of medial and endothelial layer of vessels in the investigated parts of the rats’ body. In this case, the external diameter of vessels increased only in femoral area in the reproductive group of rats. In the group of pre-productive animals, the external diameter of the vessels studied was more or less unaffected. Thus, increased thickness of intima and media led to a decrease in arteries capacity. The depth of vascular lesions and the decrease in functional capacity of blood vessels were directly proportional to the duration of the experiment. In the group of reproductive rats, the changes in vascular bed were more evident.Conclusions. Objective study of the processes allows providing a scientific basis for further research and understanding of the pathomorphism of vascular diseases in humans.

The objective: of our study was to evaluate the effectiveness of therapy of chronic pelvic pain (CPP) in women with pelvic varicose veins (PVV). Patients and methods. The study involved 62 women of reproductive age with CPP and PVV. Patients have received Normoven («Kyiv Vitamin Factory») in a dose 500 mg 2 times a day per os courses of 14 days each month for six months. To prevent recurrence of pain 30 women were prescribed the same drug prophylactically during 3 months after the basic course with repetition after 3 months. 32 patients did not receive Normoven as an prevention. The control group consisted of 30 healthy women. All women conducted clinical and laboratory examination, ultrasound and Doppler to determine the internal diameter ovaric, uterine, arcuate and internal iliac veins (cm), and the definition of peak systolic velocity of blood flow in the uterine veins (cm/s). Pain was assessed by Pain Assessment Scales. The resulting digital material were treated statistically using the program Microsoft Excel 2000 and Statistica 5.11. Results. We found that most of women were limited their daily activities, half have had sleep disorders, almost half was depressed, emotional lability with frequent changes of mood was observed in 79.0%, and a third of women were in depression. Most women feel cramping, aching and tender of pain of moderate intensity (82.2%). After 6 months of treatment with Normoven we noticed complete reduction of pain in 67.7% of women, in most women improved sleep, mood and normalization of daily activities. One-third of patients remained periodic light intensity pain. There was a significant decrease in pain intensity (p<0.05), which accoding to VAS score was 1.50±1.3 points. Conclusions. Periodic preventive courses of Normoven allowed to prevent recurrence of congestive pelvic syndrome and pelvic pain in 90.0% of patients. Key words: chronic pelvic pain, varicose veins of the pelvis, Normoven.

Introduction: Polymeric substances, which are used in medicine, can lead to the development of pathological conditions. Therefore, in toxicological evaluation of polymeric materials for medical purposes the primary task is the creation of the appropriate adequate methods of study. The aim: To study the acini of the rats’ submandibular salivary glands in normal condition and after exposure of 1% methacrylate. Material and methods: Were studied 50 white rats during the influence of 1% methacrylate on the mucosa of the oral cavity. Histological sections of the rats’ submandibular salivary glands in normal condition, on day 14 and 30 of experiment were studied using the UMPT – 7 ultramicrotome of Sumy PA “Selmi”. Results and conclusions: The morphometric study has established that in control group the values of the outer diameter of the submandibular glands’ acini, the diameter of the lumen and the height of the acini epithelial cells was 36,27±2,17 μm, 9,47±0,63 μm and 14,18±1,05 μm, respectively. Histological specimens showed that the acini cells had a prominent basophilia of the cytoplasm and the basally located nucleus. Numerous large homogeneous granules were located in the apical pole of the cells. After influence of the 1% methacrylat there is an increase in the activity of secretory cells, which is confirmed by an increase in the height of epitheliocytes by 25.04% and is a compensatory metacrylate reaction. The increase in salivation further leads to complete depletion of the secretory apparatus of the seromucosal cells, which is confirmed by a decrease in the outer and inner diameters with a decrease in the height of the mandibular salivary glands acini cells by 24.40%.

In previous studies (unpublished data) we observed that the replacement of open pulled straws (OPS) with glass capillaries (GC) did not affect the embryo survival rate after vitrification–warming. The aim of this work was to evaluate the post-Cryopreservation survival rate of in vitro-produced bovine blastocysts (B) and expanded blastocysts (eB) using Dulbecco's phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) or TCM-199 (TCM; Sigma-Aldrich, St Louis, MO, USA) as holding medium during vitrification and warming in glass capillaries. Cumulus–oocyte complexes were in vitro-matured and fertilized as previously described (Mucci et al. 2006 Theriogenology 65, 1551–1562), and cultured in 4 well plates in groups of 50 in 400-L drops in serum-free CR1aa under low oxygen condition. Grade B1, B2, and eB were selected at Day 7 post-insemination and allocated to 3 groups: vitrification in TCM, vitrification in PBS, and control (without vitrification). Vitrification and warming were performed according to Vajta et al. (1998, Mol. Reprod. Dev. 51, 53–58), replacing OPS with GC (Tecnon Argentina S.A., Buenos Aires, Argentina); 75 mM length, 1.4 mM internal diameter, 1.6 mM external diameter). Briefly, B and eB were incubated in 1.78 M ethylene glycol (EG) and 1.3 M dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) in TCM or PBS supplemented with 20% estrous cow serum (ECS) for 3 min. Embryos were then transferred for 25 s to TCM or PBS supplemented with 3.56 M EG, 2.6 M DMSO, 0.5 M sucrose, and 20% ECS (vitrification solution: VS). Loading of embryos (2 per capillary) was performed by touching a 1-L drop of VS with the capillary. After this, each capillary was immediately submerged into and stored in liquid nitrogen. Warming was performed by placing the capillary tip directly into TCM or PBS supplemented with 0.25 M sucrose for 5 min. Embryos were then transferred to TCM or PBS containing 0.15 M sucrose and 20% ECS for 1 min. After warming, embryos were cultured for 72 h in CR1aa + 5% ECS to evaluate embryo survival (hatching rate). Data was analyzed using the CATMOD procedure (SAS Institute, Inc., Cary, NC, USA). No interaction was found between holding media and embryo stage. Vitrified-warmed embryos had a significantly lower hatching rate compared with the control group (P < 0.05), whereas no differences were found between TCM and PBS. Expanded blastocysts had a higher hatching rate than blastocysts (P < 0.05). In conclusion, TCM can be replaced with PBS for its use in vitrification procedures. This protocol modification allows a simplified use of this technique in field conditions.

Opioids are potent drugs that are widely used to combat pain in severe wounds and in cancer patients. The professional literature provides a limited amount of data on the morphometric analysis of the links of the hemomicrocirculatory bed of the cerebellar cortex and choroid of the eyeball under the influence of an opioid in the experiment. The aim of the work was to establish the features and conduct morphometric studies of the links of the hemomicrocirculatory bed of the cerebellar cortex and choroid in normal conditions and under conditions of 6-week exposure to an opioid in the experiment. The experimental study was carried out on 24 male white rats, 3 months old and weighing 160-180 g. The material for the study is represented by preparations of the choroid and cerebellum with an injected vascular bed. Compared with the control group of animals, profound destructive changes in the angioarchitectonics of the choroid and cerebellar cortex were found under the influence of Nalbuphine. The capillary component is destroyed, the arterioles are tortuous, sclerosed, their lumen is uneven, the wall is thickened, the venules are dilated and deformed. A decrease in comparison with the norm in the diameter of arterioles, the density of the network of exchange vessels, arterio-venular coefficient, as well as an increase in the diameter of venules and an indicator of trophic activity of the tissue. Expansion of arterio-venular anastomoses indicates the discharge of blood from the arterioles into the venous bed, bypassing the destroyed capillaries. A pronounced relationship was established between the depth of structural transformations of the hemomicrocirculatory bed of the cerebellar cortex, choroid of the white rat’s eye and morphometric parameters. It has been confirmed that the triggering mechanism of destructive changes under the influence of narcotic analgesics is the development of angiopathy.

The article presents data on the change in the cellular composition of the lymph nodes of the white rats, males of reproductive age, who received intramuscular opioid analgesics - nalbuphine every day for six weeks. The weekly dose of nalbuphine was gradually increased, creating a model of physical opioid dependence according to the patent of Ukraine No. 76564 U. All experimental animals were divided into 8 groups. Morphometric method was used to determine the relative number of cells of the lymphoid series - small, medium and large lymphocytes, blasts and plasmocytes in the cloak zone and the embryonic center of the secondary lymphoid nodes and brain strands of the lymph nodes. Morphometric studies were performed using a system of visual analysis of histological preparations. It was established that nalbuphine in the lymph nodes causes reactive and destructive changes: the number of large lymphocytes increases in all structural components of the lymph node with a maximum after 4 weeks, respectively, the relative number of small lymphocytes decreases in the nucleus centers and brain tracts, the relative number of plasmocytes in the brain strains increases sharply . In all structural components of the lymph nodes hemocapillaries and venules are dilated and full-blooded, around vascular edema and partial damage to the walls of the microvessels. One week after the discontinuation of nalbuphine, the relative number of lymphoid cells in the structural components of the lymph nodes does not return to the indicators of intact animals, no reversible changes are noted.

Acute generalized peritonitis (AGP) and diabetes mellitus (DB) remains an urgent problem in modern medicine, as rapid disability and high mortality have been leading to cardiovascular disease and oncology pathology in recent years. The purpose is to study and evaluate the morphological changes in the lungs in animals with experimental AGP against the background of DM. Іn the experiment, 32 white rats were used. The main group consisted of 24 animals with simulated AGP against the background of CD; control group – 8 intact animals. The experimental CD was reproduced by intraperitoneal administration of streptozotocin at a dose of 60 mg/kg. On the 14th day after administration of streptozotocin, animals of the main group were injected with 10 % filtered stool suspension into the abdominal cavity of the study rats at a dose of 0.5 ml per 100 g of body weight. Removal of material for histological examination was carried out on days 1, 3, and 7. For the morphological study of the lungs of rats under experimental peritonitis, the method of light microscopy was used. Micropreparations were stained with hematoxylin and eosin, according to Hart, by the Van Gizon method. Histological examination of the lung tissue of animals with simulated AGP against the background of CD compared with intact rats on day 1 of the experiment showed a tendency for vasodilation. For 3 days, the lungs of the organs were observed in the lungs of animals; the wall was thickened in the vessels of large and medium caliber, the phenomena of mucoid edema and perivascular edema with small cell infiltration were noted. At day 7, significant changes in blood vessels and bronchi in all components were detected in the lungs of animals; Perivascular edema and inflammatory infiltration along the interval septa were observed in animals with simulated AGP against the background of CD in comparison with intact rats for 1 day of the experiment in lung tissue. The wall of small bronchi was thickened by leukocyte infiltration. For 3 days, the lungs of the animals were observed full blood vessels of the pulmonary components, the phenomena of mucoid edema were noted. For 7 days in the lungs of animals found the expansion of the lumen of the arteries and veins from their full blood, thickening of the outer shell of the vessel wall.

This article represents the electronic-microscopic examination of blood vessels of the hemomicrocirculatory bed of the iliac lymph nodes of white rats, males of reproductive age, who, during six weeks, received narcotic opioid analgesic – nalbuphine, increasing the weekly dose of the medicine to create a model of physical opioid dependence according to Ukraine Patent #76564 U.It was determined that opioid nalbuphine causes the reactive changes in the blood vessels of the hemomicrocirculatory bed of the iliac lymph nodes in the early stages of drug administration – within 1-2 weeks. A prolonged six-week administration of nalbuphine leads to profound destructive changes in the microvessels: the lumen of the hemocapillaries, which contains mainly the destructively altered erythrocytes, is expanding; the wall of microvessels, accompanied by hemorrhages into the vascular space, is violated; the structure of endotheliocytes nuclei changes, their cytoplasm swells, and organelles are damaged in it; the basement membrane thickens; the perivascular space swells and dilates. One week after the abolition of nalbuphine, the inverse changes in the blood vessels of hemomicrocirculatory bed do not occur.

Purpose This pilot study explored the effectiveness of an early storybook reading (ESR) intervention for parents with babies with hearing loss (HL) for improving (a) parents' book selection skills, (b) parent–child eye contact, and (c) parent–child turn-taking. Advancing research into ESR, this study examined whether the benefits from an ESR intervention reported for babies without HL were also observed in babies with HL. Method Four mother–baby dyads participated in a multiple baseline single-case experimental design across behaviors. Treatment effects for parents' book selection skills, parent–child eye contact, and parent–child turn-taking were examined using visual analysis and Tau-U analysis. Results Statistically significant increases, with large to very large effect sizes, were observed for all 4 participants for parent–child eye contact and parent–child turn-taking. Limited improvements with ceiling effects were observed for parents' book selection skills. Conclusion The findings provide preliminary evidence for the effectiveness of an ESR intervention for babies with HL for promoting parent–child interactions through eye contact and turn-taking.
