Objective: The objective of this study is to analyze the bioactive compounds of the ethanolic leaf extract of Acacia caesia using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) method and also screen the in vitro cytotoxic activity against HeLa-E 72 cancer cell line.Methods: The present research was carried out using GC-MS analysis, while mass spectra of the compounds found in the extract were matched with the National Institute of Standards and Technology and Wiley library. Cytotoxicity was assessed with 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay, and cellular morphological alterations were studied using phase contrast inverted light microscope of 400×. The ethanol extract of A. caesia was screened for their cytotoxicity at different concentrations (12.5–200 μg/ml), to determine the mean percentage (%) cell viability.Results: The results of GC/MS analysis showed the presence of 41 major compounds. In terms of percentage amounts, 1,8-diphenyl-3,4,10,11- tetrahydro[1,4]dioxino[2,3-g:5,6-g’]diisoquinoline, 6-(chloromethyl)-4-(3,4-dimethoxy-2-(phenylmethoxy)-phenyl)-3-methyl-2-yridinecarboxylate, and 2’,4’,6’-Trinitro-5’-phenyl-1,1’:3’,1”-terphenyl were predominant in the extract and have the property of antioxidant, antidepressant potential, antibacterial activity, cytotoxic, diabetic, and induced brain activity. The results of cytotoxicity at highest concentration (200 μg/ml) of the cells became rounder, shrunken and showed signs of detachment from the surface of the wells denoting cell death.Conclusions: From this study, it is obvious that A. caesia leaf extracts contain various bioactive constituents with a wide range of medicinal properties which is used to treat multiple disorders and it also gives a detailed insight about the phytochemical profile which could be exploited for the development of plant-based drugs. Further, the ethanolic extract of A. caesia exhibits potent cytotoxic activity against HeLa-E 72 cell line.

The Itchy leaf [Laportea decumana (Roxb.) Wedd] is a plant that is widely used as traditional medicine by Papuans as a pain reliever. The purpose of this study was to determine the total level of alkaloids in itchy leaf extract and to test the cytotoxic activity using the BSLT method. The research series began with the extraction stage with the maceration method using 96% ethanol, which tested the alkaloid level. The test was carried out using the gravimetric method and the cytotoxic test using the alkaloid level test results using the BSLT method on shrimp larvae (Artemia salina L). The results showed that itchy leaf extract contained a total alkaloid level of 6.46%. Cytotoxic testing using the BSLT method showed an LC50 of 54.33 ppm and was found to be toxic.

<p class="abstract"><strong>Background: </strong><em>Saraca indica</em> or <em>Saraca asoca</em> belonging to the family Caesalpiniaceae. It<em> </em>is popularly known as Ashoka, is the most ancient tree of Bangladesh. This versatile plant has anti-cancer, anti-menorrhagic, anti-oxytocic, anti-microbial activity and has extended uses in ayurveda, unani and homeopathy. The present study attempts to investigate the cytotoxic and analgesic activities of the methanol extract of bark and the anthelmintic activity of the leaf extract of <em>Saraca indica</em>.</p><p class="abstract"><strong>Methods:</strong> The cytotoxic activity of the methanol extract of the bark was performed by brine shrimp lethality bioassay and analgesic potential of the bark extract was evaluated using both acetic acid induced writhing test and tail-flick tests to understand the central analgesic activity using Swiss Albino mice as experimental animal. Anthelmintic activity of the leaf extract was performed by observing the time of paralysis and the time of death of earthworms, <em>Pheretima posthuma</em>.  </p><p class="abstract"><strong>Results:</strong> The methanol extract of the bark showed moderate cytotoxic activity when compared with the standard drug vincristine sulphate. The results of analgesic activities suggested that the methanol extract of the bark possess significant analgesic activity in mice, which is comparable to the standard drug, diclofenac-Na. The fresh juice extract of the leaf of <em>S. indica </em>showed potent anthelmintic activity when compared with standard drug, albendazole.</p><p><strong>Conclusions:</strong> Our present study, demonstrates the cytotoxic, analgesic and anthelmintic, properties of <em>Saraca</em> <em>indica</em>, which validate its use in traditional medicine.</p>

Buta-Buta (Excoecaria agallocha L.) leaf is a type of mangrove plants that has antibacterial activity againtsbacteriacausing acne, Staphylococcus epidermidis,. This study aims to formulate buta-buta leaf extract with the concentration of 12.5 % into anti-acne gel using two gels, namely HPMC 8% (Formula 1) and Carbopol 940 2%(Formula 2). Antibacterial activity test was carried out by agar diffusion method using well. The stability and antibacterial activity data during 28 days were analyzed statistically using unpaired t-student with a degree of confidence of 95% (α = 0.05). The evaluation results of anti-acne gel form of buta-buta leaf extract in Formula 2 showedbetter characteristics than Formula 1, which include organoleptic examination, homogenity, pH and viscosity during 28 days. The antibacterial test showed the diameter of inhibition zone of Formula 2 is 11.03 mm ±0,01. The statistic analysis showed a significant difference between Formula 2 with a positive control (klindamisin gel).
