This research paper fills a significant gap in the literature in the field of the influence of demographic characteristics of employees on the quality of interpersonal relationships at work (QR). There are no comprehensive research results concerning this problem. The research objective is to describe how selected characteristics of employees (sex, age, education, type of job, and length of service) influence QR. This goal was achieved through the use of survey methods (online, direct and auditory) conducted in 2018 and 2019 on the sample of 1,336 active employees in Poland. The data was analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics application. The findings prove that the quality of interpersonal relationships at work is differentiated by sex (men tend to rate the quality of relationships higher as compared to women), age (respondents belonging to younger groups tend to rate the quality of relationships higher as compared to older respondents), education (respondents with higher education tend to rate the quality of relationships higher as compared to less educated respondents), and type of job (managers tend to rate the quality of relationships higher as compared to the blue-collar workers). It was not possible to determine explicit trends in assessing the quality of relationships depending on the term of work. According to obtained results, special attention should be paid to the following categories of staff: women, older, less educated and blue-collar employees.

This paper describes the selected demographic characteristics as moderators of the impact of the quality of interpersonal relationships at work on counterproductive work behaviours. The main purposes of the research are describing: 1) how interpersonal relationships at work influences the intensity of counterproductive work behaviours; 2) how sex, age, education, length of service and type of job moderate the influence of interpersonal relationships at work on counterproductive work behaviours; 3) how the above-mentioned demographic characteristics influence interpersonal relationships at work and counterproductive work behaviours separately. The studies on the literature indicated that there were no comprehensive research results concerning those problems. The research paper fills a gap in the literature relating to the impact of interpersonal relationships at work on counterproductive work behaviours and the relation to modelling this impact by demographic characteristics of employees (sex, age, education, length of service, type of job). To achieve the study purposes, the author conducted a survey conducted on a sample of 1336 active employees in Poland. The survey period was 2018-2019. The IBM SPSS Statistics and IBM SPSS Amos were used to analyze data. Based on Structural Equation Modelling, it was that:1) interpersonal relationships at work negatively impacted on the intensity of counterproductive work behaviours against another individual; 2) the strength of influence of interpersonal relationships at work on counterproductive work behaviours did not change relevantly in modelling with selected demographic characteristics (sex, age, education, length of service, type of job); 3) only education, current kind of job and service length had a relevant influence on interpersonal relationships at work and counterproductive work behaviours. The research results could be useful for managers. In their activities, managers should systematically monitor interpersonal relationships at work and counterproductive work behaviours taking into account employees' demographic characteristics. In this process, managers should pay particular attention to education, type of current job, and service length.

Abstract Introduction. The article introduces the reader into the problem area, based on interpersonal relationships between physiotherapists and patients. Aim. The aim of the study is to learn the factors determining the quality of physiotherapeutic services. The research was carried out in relation to verbal and non-verbal aspects of contact between physiotherapists and patients. Material and method. The method used in the study was a quantitative survey based on a questionnaire. Results. Ninety-six percent of respondents state that they have no problems with making interpersonal contact with patients. Fifty-three percent of them show interest in patients during the dialogue and the remaining group only initiates the contact and limits it to personal creativity. The research shows that the gender of the respondents does not significantly affect the ways of showing interest in patients. However, the length of service differentiates their approach to patients as well as the age of the patients themselves. Discussion. Communication in a profession of physiotherapist refers to the personal preferences and interpersonal skills of the respondents, which can be determined by a specific style of their work. In addition, significantly it is determined by the level of education of future physical therapists, which was mentioned not only by the people in this study, but also in the studies cited in the literature included in the discussion. Conclusions.The quality of physiotherapy services is determined not only by instrumental preparation of a physiotherapist but also by expression that results from the interpersonal contact. Physiotherapists are aware of building relationships during the first contact. Therefore, they try to make a positive impression. In such way, the quality of treatment can be increased.

Abstract A high level of safety culture is a factor affecting the quality of production. The article contains conclusions and recommendations regarding creating a safety culture based on the awareness of threats and the ability to respond to them. The aim of the article is to analyze trainings on AT (antiterrorist) security procedures conducted in critical infrastructure (CI) enterprises and enterprises which are subject to mandatory protection. The theoretical system of reference is based on the issues regarding security culture and sociology of work. Observation of employee training, followed by analysis of employees' behavior and interviews with their supervisors, allowed to assess the functionality of solutions and develop recommendations for the training of with and blue collar workers.

ABSTRACT Aims: to evaluate gender, age, undergraduate year, and grades affecting the quality of their interpersonal relationships of nursing students. Method: Cross-sectional quantitative study. We used characterization questionnaire and the Interpersonal Relationships Inventory - friendly version. Results: The sample was of 184 nursing students with an average age of 23.4 years old (± 5.3). There was a statistically significant difference in the sex comparison with the Support factor (p-value = 0.01) and with the Depth factor (p-value = 0.02). Conclusions: Scholar grades affecting the choice of friendships since most of them were due to similarity and did not interfere in the quality of relationships. The year in undergraduate program did not affect the quality of relationships.

Metacognitive functioning is the basis of the individual’s ideas about his ability to build relationships with other people and manage own’s social behavior. Deterioration of metacognitive functioning in schizophrenia patients, presumably due to neurocognitive deficiency and other manifestations of the disease, probably contributes to disruptions of social functioning and quality of life. The aim of this study was to assess the metacognitive functioning (MF) of patients with paranoid schizophrenia, operationalized as a cognitive ability to understand their own and other people’s emotions, and to explore the connection between social functioning (SF) and quality of life (QOL), as well as to establish logical relationships between MF with clinical indicators and socio-demographic characteristics of patients. In a sample of 300 patients with paranoid schizophrenia (age from 18 to 50 years, disease duration of at least 5 years, a total PANSS score of less than 120), MF was assessed using the Lyusin emotional intelligence test (EmIn) and the subjective assessment of interpersonal relationships (SOMO) test. Cognitive deficit was verified using a standardized battery of a Brief Assessment of Cognition in Schizophrenia (BACS). The indicators obtained using the quality of life questionnaire for schizophrenia patients (QOL-SM) and the social functioning scale (PSP) were used to create an integrated indicator that comprehensively assesses SF and QOL of schizophrenia patients (Factor B). Reliable associations of this factor with indicators obtained using the Emin method (p<0.05), SOMO (p<0.001), the PSP scale, the QOL-SM questionnaire, the BACS and PANSS scales, and also with a number of clinical-dynamic and socio-demographic characteristics were established. Significant relationships between the parameters of MF, SF and QOL were obtained, and logical relationships between MF, neurocognitive deficiency and other clinical manifestations of schizophrenia were established.

This article analyses a number of aspects of lecturers’ support/assistance in student learning. Empirical study reveals support/assistance, provided by lecturers, that is focused on: development of interpersonal relationships, informing, facilitation of learning/studies, regulation of relations, modelling of learning/study activities and behaviour, a vision of student learning, student activities. The above listed aspects of support/assistance might serve as a particular performance indicator for some of lecturers in this field, so as to provide a real and effective help and assure a quality of learning and studies.

The purpose of the article is to determine how the quality of interpersonal relationships at work (QIRW) affects the extent of counterproductive work behavior (CWB), and whether this impact is moderated by employees’ demographic features (education, age, sex, length of service and type of work). These questions are particularly important for organizations that want to function sustainably, because counterproductive behavior also includes wasting resources, polluting the environment and using environmentally unfriendly products. The research objectives were met using a survey conducted in 2018 among 1488 professionally active people in Poland. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to analyze the empirical data. The proposed theoretical model was intended to determine how particular categories of relationship quality affect dimensions of CWB (which included taking into account employees’ aforementioned demographic features). I determined that relationship quality has an inverse relationship with counterproductive behavior of employees (the higher the quality, the lower the propensity for CWB), but there are also many paradoxes that I discuss in detail. Moreover, this impact is significantly moderated by employees’ demographic features (mainly education, type of work, length of service and sex). I also discuss the theoretical contributions, practical implications and limitations of this study, and directions for future research.
