Approximately 50% of Indonesia's population lives in cities. One of these towns is a metropolitan city of Jakarta, an area that has a population of over 14.1 million people. New residential areas are springing up in the suburbs of Jakarta due to the urban sprawl that is increasingly out of control. Thus the activities of traveling from home to work will be a major requirement, and this activity has given rise to problems such as traffic jam. In this study, the research conducted on the data of public transportation in Jakarta, which is followed by a literature review, from books, the internet and the results of a survey involving 130 respondents about the use of public and private transport in Jakarta. In addition to the survey, also conducted a comparative study to look directly into the field one factor supporting public transport, the MRT station in Singapore and TransJakarta bus stop on Jalan Sudirman, and do a comparison analysis. The purpose of this paper is to come up with new solutions in public transport facilities presenting a friendly and optimized for all the people of Jakarta. The method used was to collect data through surveys and literature studies.

This paper is concerned with the analysis of some worrying present tendencies of urban sprawl in the large, important economic centers of Romania. It focuses on the tendency of building new residential apartments on the outskirts of the big cities. Most of these developments target young people that belong to a still-developing middle class. Big problems emerge, however, when real estate investors take advantage of the buyers’ lack of experience and of the authorities’ poor management, offering small, badly-built apartments in new residential areas which are designed around only one function: housing. The absence of complementary functions that could support the development of communities gravely impairs the inhabitants’ quality of life. At the local level, I was able to identify two main problems: the absence of the necessary infrastructure to support such a massive increase in population, and the absence of local amenities. On a larger scale, the consequences are significant as well: chronic traffic jams due to the large number of people who commute to Bucharest daily, for work. Even though at first Popeşti-Leordeni (a satellite-town of Romania’s capital) was considered a good housing option, the people living there are rapidly becoming highly unsatisfied with their quality of life. In their opinion, the biggest problems of this urban area are the absence of green spaces, of leisure services, of parking options, and of means of public transportation. To these complaints, the inhabitants add dissatisfaction with the general problems caused by the endless building sites, which also represent one of the main causes for the lack of cleanliness, bad roads, noise and pollution plaguing the area. This paper, based both on the analysis of statistical data and on empirical research, aims to show that Popeşti-Leordeni, especially the New Popeşti neighborhood, is an example of bad housing caused by corruption, investors’ greed, bad management on the part of the authorities, and the young buyers’ inexperience. The COVID-19 pandemic had and it’s still having a big impact on mobility since the end of 2018, when it started. Public transportation was already facing issues in all the big metropolitan cities where many people are in the same space at the same time. If we add the COVID-19 consequences and rules, public transit is the main barrier for community members to go back to their daily routines being safe and comfortable. This paper presents the changes in the public transport sector since COVID-19 started and aims to explore the consequences and possible alternatives to mitigate the impact of the pandemic crisis. As research method I decided to analyze and summarize numerous primary sources along with the public transport operators’ official websites. Both quantitative and qualitative data were used by doing a comprehensive research in ProQuest Central, Coronavirus Research Database, Elsevier ScienceDirect and Web of Science. The results suggest that reduction of mobility has been the first measure to slow the growth of the worldwide COVID-19 cases. However, the transport limitations don’t have the same impact for all modes of transport, public transport having one of the most considerable decline so far. In Bucharest, the public transport operators have imposed safety measures such as mask wearing, periodic cleaning, transparency and access to the information. Those aspects are important, but sometimes not sufficient to fight against the pandemic. What this research does is to come and complete the set of safety measures focusing on mitigating the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and increase the safety of the people while using public transport vehicles.

The spatial and economic growth of cities and regions is heavily influenced by transportation. A better knowledge of public transportation will help to clarify the positions of the public and private sectors, as well as recognize the critical government position. To study the problems and issues of the public transportation system, Qasimabad, Hyderabad is selected as a study area due to some serious issues of public transportation. Personal observations and questionnaires were used to gather data from the research area. And for analyzing the data SPSS and MS Excel are used. The results reveal that the existing public transportation system is not meeting the needs of residents. Hence use of private transportation is high and causing environmental and traffic jam problems. As 68% of respondents use a motorbike for recreational purposes, 64% of respondents are not using public transport due to safety factors. In general, 54% of respondents were not satisfied with the service of public transport. As people are willing to use public transport but due to some factors such as safety, they are not using public transport so it is suggested that both vehicles and roads must be safe for users. This study aims to study the existing scenario of public transportation in terms of services and facilities, and people’s perception about public transportation. So it is concluded that people are tending to use public transport but under some certain conditions (factors preventing the use of public transport), if these concerns are solved then public transport system will become more efficient.

Public transportation in cities is crucial for their sustainable development. The attractiveness of public transport for city residents depends largely on whether they are able to access the nearest stop on foot. The actual time of walking to the nearest stop and the distance covered can be measured using the band method or the circular buffer method. The accuracy of the two methods was compared for the city of Szczecin and one of its residential areas, Pomorzany (ca. 20,000 inhabitants, ca. 7 km2 area). The city provides public tram and bus transportation and has 90 km of streets and pedestrian paths. As shown by the results, the band method proved more accurate in measuring public transport stop accessibility. It showed 53.8% of the stops to be highly accessible, whereas 37.8%, 7.8%, and 0.5% were classified as moderately accessible, poorly accessible, and inaccessible, respectively; the latter would be hardly expected to be used by pedestrians in the Pomorzany neighborhood. The band method allowed also to indicate potential location of a new bus stop which would significantly improve accessibility of public transportation to residents of a housing estate (3000 inhabitants) in the area.

Malaysia governments are seeing that the future of transportation to be creating an environmentally clean and sustainable for the benefit of the people.A huge amount of investment has been made by the governments towards a public transportation sector by expecting that the infrastructure and sustainability of transportation could change the number of modal share gradually. However, the numbers of modal share has not increased compared to private vehicle usage of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Therefore, a study on the travellers (both public and private vehicle users) attitudes is important to help understand the similarity or differences that could explain the modal share. The purpose of this study is to compare the attitudes of travellers in the Kuala Lumpur city centre by analysing the similarities and differences of attitudes among Public Transport users (PT) and Private Transport users (PV). The attitude being studied is about travelling without any specification of modes, thus examining 1790 KL dwellers objectives and provide the basis for fair and just comparison with regard to PT and PV. The attitudes towards travelling were measured by a 5-point Likert scale using a structured questionnaire, and statistically analysed by applying factor analysis provided in SPSS. The study found that six attitudes define the attitudes of PT traveller towards travelling, and three attitudes were influencing PV travellers toward travelling. Based on this outcome, the key attitudes that influence travellers’ willingness to use public transport were discussed and identified. The results lead to understanding the attitudes of people towards travelling from the eye of public transport and private transport users. The understanding forms concrete basis for government to plan on strategies to shift private vehicle users and promote usage of public transport. As we know, there are a lot of public transportation users, especially buses, which are often used in almost all cities around the world. What is our focus this time is bus stops, many of which are abused from their initial function as a place to pick up and drop off passengers, and are very unfit for use. Therefore, a 4D animation information media for public transportation stops was created. This is done to show the public about the convenience of public transportation stops. This utilization also aims to make the bus stop facilities even better and more comfortable according to the needs of prospective passengers. The concept used in this design is "Livability", a word that refers to a good environment for a community to live in. The design results presented in the interior of this waiting facility are to make public transportation users feel safe and comfortable so that people can interact well with each other while waiting for public transportation.Keywords:Animation 4D, Animation 3D, Public Transport.

With the increase in the number of public and private buses in cities in recent years, managing the bus fleet across various routes in an efficient and effective manner has become cumbersome. This is resulting in suboptimal services, inability to effectively cater to existing demand, and poor quality of public transport services.  Modern technological advancements have created a tremendous opportunity to improve various aspects of public transport services, to not only serve existing demand but attract increasing number of passengers to public transport from a sustainable development standpoint.  One such area which is gaining momentum is intelligent fleet management using the concept of Internet of Things (IoT).  This area calls for a cross-field collaboration between engineers from various disciplines to use the up and coming idea of Internet of Things (IoT) for overcoming the challenges of intelligent fleet management. This paper explores the opportunity for incorporation of IoT to manage bus fleets based on the occupancy ratio and the resulting benefits that can be achieved in terms of fleet frequency optimization.

Kuta Beach is known as tourist favourite attraction in Bali, it can be seen by the number of tourists visited Kuta Beach. However, the high level of tourists, travelers and local communities to Kuta Beach who use private vehicles create traffic jam at Kuta Beach. In this study aims to determine the perception of tourists, travelers and local communities if the implementation of public transport as a special means to Kuta Beach to reduce congestion caused by private vehicles.                        The research methodology used is quantitative method. With the technique of determining the number of samples using random sampling and quota sampling. In collecting the data using techniques study literature, observation, interviews, documentation, and distribution of the questionnaire to the 40 respondents. In a data analysis technique used descriptive qualitative method by utilizing the percentage of data.                        The results show the perception of tourists, travelers and local communities towards the implementation of transportation common in Kuta Beach, which answered agree as many as 16 people (40%) strongly agree 15 people (37.5%), undecided 5 people (12.5%), not agree 4 people (10%), strongly disagree 0 (0%). Thus the total percentage of the perception of tourists, travelers and local communities can be seen in the implementation of public transport in the Kuta Beach, the majority of local people answered agree but local communities said the hesitation and do not agree that the implementation of the proposal.   Keywords : Kuta Beach, Perception, Tourists, Travelers, Local Communities, Public Transportation.

Optimizing the public transport and synergizing the land use can reduce the impact of urban development by attracting the development around the transit station. This situation encourages the accessibility of public transportation by creating conditions between passenger expectations realted to the concept Transit Oriented Development (TOD) between land use, mobility, and environment. This study was conducted by TOD with the area located in the center of local wisdom by cultural city, Yogyakarta Railway Station. The purpose of this study is to provide an alternative location where bus stops or Trans Jogja shelters are more easily accessible by users of rail services and facilitate the model’s transfer. The method of this research is descriptive quantitative. It explains the trans it function, needs and condition of Trans Jogja as the existing public transport and the accessibility of the bus stops. The conclusion is the recommendation for the bus stop location can be relocate near the dropout East and South area of the Railway Station

The article deals with the influence of the infrastructure for public transport on the delay time of private and public transport in the city. The study employed the methods of simulation, mathematical modeling and field research. Imitation microscopic modeling determined the parameters of mathematical models of the delay time of private and public transport for various parameters of the bus lane, the length of the bus stop loading area, and its distance from the signalized intersection. Calculations determined the total delay time, taking into account the number of passengers in public and private transport on the section of the main street of regulated traffic. Determining the optimum parameters of the public transport infrastructure requires considering not only public transport passengers, but also drivers and passengers of private vehicles. Over-improving parameters of the bus lane has no effect on public transport, but traffic parameters for all other road users degrade. At high traffic intensity, the dependences of the total delay time on the length of the marking lines 1.11 and 1.5 are described by the parabola equation. The values for a road with three lanes have been determined, marking lines 1.11 and 1.5 at which the total delay time is minimal. For a highway with a high intensity, minimum bus stop parameters lead to significant increases in delay time.
