Digital teaching and learning sprouted as sparks of fire at different points with the traditional method of teaching and learning stone walling its presence and its ability to be appreciated. Following an unprecedented burst of COVI-19 pandemic, institutions of higher learning embraced digital learning extensively and seemingly forever. This study was launched for the purpose of exploring nursing students’ experiences of e-learning as they pursued Midwifery Course during the pandemic. The study used a cross-sectional design with a qualitative approach. A mixture of 60 third year and fourth year Nursing students taking Midwifery as a course participated in the study through 6 Focus Group discussions. The study found that students residing in rural places of the country faced challenges of poor internet connectivity due to weak signal strength. They could fail to participate during interactive virtual class due to uncharged electronic gadgets or interrupted session due to power outages. Some had neither Personal Computers nor a smart phone to enable them access learning materials. E-learning, in spite of institutions embracing it due to COVID-19 pandemic related reasons, it remains the quickest, widest and most efficient and effective way of teaching and learning with greater potential for being the future mainstay of learning. Telecommunication and electricity supply companies need to invest more in technology to enable lecturers and students access uninterrupted and reliable internet network because with technology advancement comes, a cultural shift from the traditional way of learning to the digitalized mode of learning.

Abstract Background Higher education is responsible for providing education that meets international benchmarks relevant to the needs of the international community. Due to the increase of digital tools in higher education, the possibility of sharing learning resources across nations has expanded. In the current project, a Norwegian university invited universities in Spain and the United Kingdom to adapt and translate e-learning resources originally developed for Norwegian nursing students for use within their respective Bachelor in Nursing programmes. Aim The aim of the current study was to gain insights into the usability and value for learning of e-compendiums shared and implemented across three European universities. Methods The study adopted a descriptive cross-sectional design and included nursing students from the University of Nottingham, Valencia Catholic University, and the University of Stavanger. Data were collected in Autumn 2017 through a questionnaire adapted from the validated “Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning Reusable Learning Object evaluation questionnaire” The questionnaire consisted of 19 items that included two aspects: e-compendiums’ value for learning and e-compendiums’ usability. The different study sites were compared using a binary logistic regression analysis. Subgroups of students were compared based on their gender and age. Results A total of 480 nursing students participated in the study. The e -compendiums were overall positively rated, especially for reinforcing and retaining knowledge. Compared to the students from the University of Stavanger, students from Valencia Catholic University rated the e-compendiums more positively in most aspects of learning. Students from University of Nottingham found the e-compendiums to be more important for learning engagement compared to students at the Norwegian study site, and no differences were found in any other aspects of learning. Younger students rated the interactivity and visual components as more important compared to older students. Conclusions Students from the University of Nottingham and Valencia Catholic University seem to accept the e-compendiums despite the fact that they were originally developed for use in another country. We argue that, when sharing e-learning resources across countries, an adaptation and translation process that includes a multicultural and multidisciplinary perspective should be carried out.

Education in recent years has undergone impressive transformation occasioned by the rise in technological innovations. Digital learning resources have been widely integrated into teaching and learning in all levels of Nigerias educational system, and the trend is significantly affecting learners enthusiasm and schoolwork engagement. The primary purpose of the present study was to examine the effect of digital learning on students learning motivation and attitude. A cross-sectional design was adopted, and 127 students randomly pooled from public tertiary institutions in Kogi State, Nigeria, participated in the study. The samples completed a self-report measure assessing digital learning perceptions, learning motivation, and attitude. The result of the linear regression model revealed that digital learning resources statistically significantly predicted students learning motivation and attitudes. The study concludes that the digital learning platform remains an indispensable tool in enhancing learning willingness.

Background: E-learning is a method of teaching and learning using electronic media. It is also called web-based learning, online learning, distributed learning, computer-assisted instruction and internet-based learning. With the development of information technology, the use of e-learning has rapidly increases. E-learning is becoming omnipresent in higher education and increases the student’s motivation and satisfaction in learning.Methods: The descriptive cross sectional study was conducted at three different health science colleges among bachelor level students of Public Health, Pharmacy and Nursing at Kathmandu, Nepal. Total 135 respondents were randomly selected. The self administered questionnaire was used for the data collection and the obtained data were analyzed by using SPSS version 16.Results: Study shows that majority of respondents were from 19-22 years and 71.9% were female. All the respondents use electronic devices for learning and majority (97.8%) believes that electronic device influence the academic performance of students. Laptop is the commonly used electronic device followed by smart phone. Among the respondents only 63.7% follow the correct posture. Similarly, majority (80.7%) of the respondents spent 1-4 hours on electronic device for learning purpose that is mainly used for searching clinical guidelines, reference drug guidelines and journal articles.Conclusions: The use of electronic device is common among the health science students for learning. The uses of such devices have positive effect on their education since they get updated information quickly as needed. However necessary guidance is necessary to get appropriate sites and for limiting excessive use such devices.

Mathematical education is currently undergoing significant changes that are driven by technology and digital-based learning. Students with visual impairments (VI) may face different challenges in mathematical education due to a lack of accessible materials designed to support the development of conceptual understanding in mathematics. The aim of the study was to summarize current evidence-based knowledge about e-learning in mathematics among students with severe VI. A systematic review was conducted of articles published from January 2000 to November 2017. A total of 13 publications met the inclusion criteria, of which 12 reported studies with an intervention or an experimental design and one had a cross-sectional design. The number of students with VI varied from three to 16 ( Mage = 19 years). Four publications reported either ophthalmic diagnoses or World Health Organization’s (WHO) definition of vision loss. The mathematical training was reported as lasting from one session to 18 weeks of training. Eight papers reported the use of audio-based applications as learning aids. The authors conclude that interactive e-learning with audio and tactile learning programmes may be a useful resource for students with VI to enhance their mathematical skills. However, there is lack of evidence for how digital technologies improve inclusion potentials and learning in mathematics for students with VI, and hence, there is a need for additional research and more reflection on the subject.

Background: Managing patients with suicide attempts effectively requires overcoming barriers to their care. The attitudes and beliefs of the healthcare professionals have significant effect on the outcome of the treatment and implementation of the preventive strategies. Objectives: Aim of the study was to assess the attitude of nursing students toward suicide prevention. Materials and Methods: The study had a cross sectional design of 284 nursing students who were randomly recruited from the two institutions. Attitude toward suicide prevention scale was administered.  Results: Most were young single females, from rural locality, who were pursuing either BSc Nursing or GNM courses. Very few had previous exposure to suicide prevention training programmes. Nearly half of the students showed favourable attitude towards patients with suicidal attempt, considering it as their responsibility and their efforts as rewarding. Nearly half students also showed empathy towards these patients not considering the attempts as just attention seeking ones. Nearly one third were uncertain whether the patients reveal their plans of attempt and whether the suicide prevention measures were draining of the resources. Half of the subjects showed pessimism towards modifying the risk factors of unemployment and poverty. Conclusions: Only half of the nursing students showed favourable attitude working with patients with suicide attempts. More educational and training programs on suicide prevention are therefore needed in these students for better prevention and management of these patients.

Background: Nurses play an important role in taking care of people who have a terminal illness. Aims: To examine nursing caregivers' religiosity as the mediator between voluntary and involuntary euthanasia, and to compare nursing caregiver religiosity groups and the voluntary and involuntary euthanasia attitudes of nurses and nursing students. Methods: A cross sectional design was applied and 298 nursing caregivers voluntarily participated and completed the questionnaire. Findings: Religiosity partially contributes as mediator between voluntary and involuntary euthanasia. All nursing caregiver religiosity groups show more support for voluntary euthanasia. Moreover, nursing students and nurses differ with respect to support for euthanasia in extreme situations, such as patients that are clinically brain-dead. Conclusion: Findings may be attributed to the clash of religious values, due to the common injunction against taking a life especially as regards involuntary euthanasia.

The teaching and learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic underwent a change, previouslyitwasdoneface-to-face, now it must be done online, both learning theory and laboratory practice. Online laboratory practice learning will have an impact on student learning outcomes where students will have difficulty achieving learning outcomes because they cannot practice directly with appropriate tools. The study aims to identify the factors that affect the effectiveness of online method laboratory practices in nursing students of the Nursing Department of the Health Polytechnic of the Ministry of Health, JakartaIII.This research is a quantitative study with a cross sectional approach,with Chi- Square analysis, simple and multiple linear regression. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a total sample of 143 respondents. The questionnaire was developed by researchers and validity and reliability tests have been carried out. The results of this study indicate that students' motivation and learning method scontribute 1.74 times to the success of online laboratory practical learning. It is necessary to readiness of lecturers in making practical learning media online methods and readiness of students to change learning patterns from face to face to online.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate interpersonal competence and social support and their mediating effects on the relationship between caring efficacy and empathy in nursing students. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design. Data collection was conducted from February 5 to February 12, 2019, from 254 students enrolled in the Department of Nursing in Jeollabuk-do and Chungcheongbuk-do. Data analysis was conducted using the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: As a result of verifying the mediating effects of social support and interpersonal competence on the relationship between the empathy ability and caring efficacy of nursing college students, it was found that social support and interpersonal competence partially mediated the relationship between the two variables (Z=1.68, p=.046).Conclusion: Through this study, a theoretical basis was provided that when applied to an educational program could improve nursing students' caring efficacy. Content that can improve not only empathy but also social support and interpersonal competence should be included.

Aim And Objective: The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has caused an unprecedented disruption in medical education and healthcare systems worldwide. In India, responses to the COVID-19 pandemic in medical education resulted in closures of medical colleges and adoption of online teaching-learning methods, which is challenging for both faculty and students. Rising concerns among students urged to evaluate strength and weakness of ongoing online teaching and learning methods. The objective of the study was to nd out the perceptions of students regarding E-learning during lockdown period of COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: A descriptive cross sectional study was conducted at IPGME & R Kolkata. A sample size of 600 was calculated. MBBS students of all levels participated in this study. A Google questionnaire was developed and was validated by Medical education unit of the college. The Google questionnaire was mailed to the students. The data was transferred to excel sheet and analysis was done on various parameters to derive descriptive statistics between classroom teaching and online teaching Results: Total 600responses were received. 340 (56.7%) males and 260(43.3%) females participated in the study. 41.7% students use mobile phones as their gadgets for E- learning and 33.3% use laptops followed by desktop (16.7%) and tablet (8.3%) Overall only 10 % students preferred to use only E- learning. 50% students preferred classical didactic learning. And 40% preferred a combination of classical ofine and E - learning as useful method of learning. Conclusions: Students did not prefer E- learning over classroom learning. They admit the usefulness of E -learning. But, classroom learning with rational use of E -learning is preferred by the students.

Background Studies indicate that incivility is common in nursing education and perpetuated by both students and faculty. Academic incivility negatively affects the well-being of those involved, interferes with the teaching–learning process, and is antithetical to nursing as a caring profession. An understanding of academic incivility is essential to establish best practices to address this problem. Purpose The purpose of this study was to examine incivility in nursing academia from the perspective of baccalaureate nursing students. Methods The study was conducted using a cross-sectional design, with a mixed method questionnaire administered to 380 students. The quantitative data were analyzed descriptively and qualitative data through content analysis. Results The majority of students thought incivility is a mild to moderate problem in nursing education. They thought that students contribute to incivility by not taking responsibility (being unprepared and being disinterested) for their education and by not being professional (being disrespectful and being uncaring) and faculty contribute by not being good teachers (being authoritarian, treating students unfairly, having ineffective teaching methods) and not being professional (being disrespectful, lacking compassion). Conclusion Until evidence is available for effective measures to address incivility, nursing schools should consider adopting strategies for solutions as suggested by the students in this study.
