The attention to branding, from theorists as well as from practitioners, had been remained at a very high level for the 2000s and 2010s. There many new branches of branding theory have emerged, and place branding was among them. Actually, place branding has become an umbrella term, a generic definition for three areas of study and practice: nation branding, region branding, and city branding. Every year, new scientific, journalistic, business articles and books on place branding emerge, there are even several specialized periodicals devoted to this field of branding. This study aims to identify the most relevant and effective symbol of the Ukrainian capital city Kyiv (Kiev) as a tourism brand. Questionnaire surveys and the content analysis of literature and mass media are used. Key segments and sub-segments of the target audience of Kyiv tourism branding are determined, as well as the key factor of influence on the formation of the opinion regarding the tourism symbols of Kyiv. The most common popular symbol is compared with the real resources of the city. Thus, a set of relevances is found appropriate for the development of effective branding of Kyiv.

The face is one of the media to identify someone, a human face has a very high level of variability. Many methods have been introduced by researchers and scientists in recognizing one's face, one of the methods introduced is the Feature Extraction of Gray Level Co-Occurrence Matrix (GLCM) and Learning Vector Quantization (LVQ). GLCM feature extraction is used for data extraction/learning process whereas a data analysis process (face recognition, cropping and storing data) the LVQ method is used for the data training process where the data that has been processed in GLCM feature extraction which still has large dimensions are processed to be smaller dimensions. So this test uses data of 190 photos and gets a match of 90%, the authors conclude that the GLCM feature extraction and LVQ method can very well recognize faces contained in the database.

The main purpose of this chapter is to deep into the importance attached to the Information Systems for the proper formulation of the corporate strategy. After introducing the basis of the strategic planning tradition model, which suggests the subordination of the Information Systems (IS) to the Business Strategy, we propose a new model that views the IS as an strategic instrument suited for the strategy formulation stage, rather than operational tools for the strategy control phase. Success in the application of this model we call “Concurrent Business/IS Strategic Planning Model” will closely depend on the consistency, coherence and soundness of the IS, both internal and external. In order to contrast the level of application of this model, an empirical case-study fieldwork was undertaken to rise up some empirical evidence on the degree of alignment between the entrepreneurial practice and the theoretical model proposed. This last section contains the main results arising from the empirical analysis.

AbstractObjectiveOn April 27, 2011, the state of Alabama encountered a horrific day of tornados that left a trail of damage throughout the state. The city of Tuscaloosa was devastated by an EF-4 that resulted in many victims and casualties. Druid City Hospital in Tuscaloosa had a massive inflow of victims with both mild and major injuries. When disasters such as this occur, nurses must respond with efficiency and effectiveness to help as many victims as possible. However, little is known about the psychological effects of disasters on nurses and how these impact nurses both personally and professionally. Because resilience can directly impact how a nurse responds to a situation, this article aimed to examine the resilience levels of nurses working during the disaster.MethodsThis study was part of a larger study examining the needs of nurses both before and after disasters. Ten nurses were interviewed and completed a 10-item survey on resilience, the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC). The full range of scores on this scale is from 0 to 40, with higher scores reflecting greater resilience.ResultsIn this survey of 10 nurses, the scores ranged from 33 to 40, with a mean score of 36.7.ConclusionsThe nurses who were interviewed and completed the survey possessed a high level of resilience. More research should be done on the causes of increased resilience in nurses after disasters. (Disaster Med Public Health Preparedness. 2015;9:601–604)

Components of service quality were analyzed based on nine dimensions of logistics service quality. The methods used for analyzing service quality in this study was GAP, CSI, and IPA. The order amount was mostly above 6 kg, amounting 43% of the total catfish orders. The overall gap value of the variables was 0.293. The CSI value was 84.49% which means that consumers were very satisfied with the supplier’s performance. There were 5 attributes in the quadrant with a very high level of importance, but the performance was still low.
