This study aims to determine the effectiveness of natural science modules with discovery learning to enhance students' critical thinking skills in the topic of material classification and its changes. Critical thinking skills are one of the important skills of the 21st century and are needed in various fields. Students with high critical thinking skills in general also have the ability to calculate various possibilities so that they can make decisions by applying logical thinking. Discovery learning trains students to independently build knowledge and develop student competencies. The research method was a quasi-experimental with pretest and posttest control groups design. The sampling technique employed was purposive sampling. The research instrument used a test of critical thinking skills. Data analysis was carried out with a different power test (t-test) to determine the difference between the experimental and control classes, and an N-Gain calculation was done to find out the effectiveness of discovery learning module. The results showed that there was a difference critical thinking skills between the experimental class and the control class. The N-Gain result of the experimental class was 0.59, with a moderate category, and the control class was 0.31, with a moderate category

<em>The purpose of this study was to determine the final achievement, improvement of critical thinking skills, and mathematical dispositions through project based learninglearning models. The population in this study were eighth grade students in one of the State Junior High Schools in Serang City 2014/2015 academic year. The sample was chosen by cluster random sampling technique from 8 classes, obtained one experimental class and one control class. The research method used is quasi-experimental method with non-equivalent research design. The number of samples in the experimental class and control class amounted to 30 students. The results showed: Mathematical critical thinking ability of students who obtained a project based learning in the high category. Enhancement students' critical thinking skills who obtain project based learning that are in the medium category. Mathematical disposition of students who obtain a project based learning model that belongs to the medium category. Enhancement mathematical disposition of students who obtain project based learning  in the low category</em>.

The aims of this study is to determine the improvement of students' critical thinking skills based on the application of CLIS method (Children Learning In Science) LKS assisted on elasticity and Hooke Law in SMA Negeri 1 Jakenan Pati. This research was conducted at SMA N 1 Jakenan Pati dated October 13 until October 24, 2017. This research used Quasi Experimental design in the form of pretest-posttest control group design. Population in this research is all class XI IPA in SMA Negeri 1 Jakenan Pati, while sample of research used consist of two classes taken by cluster random sampling technique so that obtained class XI IPA 8 which amounted to 40 students as experiment class using  CLIS method (Children Learning In Science) assisted by LKS, and XI IPA 7, amounting to 40 students as control class using Direct Instruction learning model. Based on the result of the research obtained the mean of pretest experimental class is 55,2 and control class 49,45, while value of experimental class postest 79,1 and control class 68,7. The hypothesis testing shows that with t test s2 polled variance magnitude thitung = 19.5 and ttabel = 1.66. This indicates thitung > ttabel, so Ho is rejected which means there is increasing in the effectiveness of CLIS learning method (Children Learning In Science) assisted by LKS on students' critical thinking ability.

Conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills are necessary for all students to help them in their learning process. This research aims to determine the effect of Moodle-assisted e-learning on (1) conceptual understanding, (2) critical thinking skills, and (3) conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills combined. This research employed a quasi-experimental design with random cluster sampling was used as the sampling technique. An algebra written test was used to collect research data. Furthermore, the researchers performed the normality test, homogeneity test, and MANOVA analysis to analyze the data. The researchers discovered that Moodle-assisted e-learning influenced students' conceptual understanding, critical thinking skills, and conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills.

Abstract:. The basic criteria of integrated teaching are: teaching includes educational goals in which learners actively participate in the learning process, teaching begins with a theme relevant to the learner's life, learners engage in learning and active thinking processes to practice critical thinking skills. Critical thinking skill is an activity of thinking about an idea or idea related to a given concept or a presented problem. Critical thinking is also understood as the activity of analyzing ideas or ideas in a more specific way, distinguishing them sharply, choosing, identifying, studying, and developing them in a more perfect direction. The purpose of this study was to investigate: the influence of reciprocal teaching strategies on the critical thinking skills of learners. This research is a quasi experimental type research. The population is all students in SD Nanggalo Tarusan Pesisir Selatan and the samples are students of VA and VB class as many as 50 people. This sampling technique is porpusive sampling. Data from the research results obtained from critical thinking skills tests. The results showed that the critical thinking skills of learners who were given a reciprocal teaching strategy were higher than conventional learning. Keyword: Reciprocal teaching, Critical Thinking Skill, Thematic Abstrak: Kriteria mendasar tentang pengajaran terintegrasi antara lain; pengajaran meliputi tujuan pendidikan dalam hal peserta didik secara aktif berpartisipasi dalam proses belajar, pengajaran dimulai dari suatu tema yang relevan dengan kehidupan peserta didik, peserta didik terlibat dalam proses belajar dan berpikir aktif untuk melatih keterampilan berpikir kritis. Keterampilan berpikir kritis adalah suatu kegiatan cara berpikir tentang ide atau gagasan yang berhubungan dengan konsep yang diberikan atau masalah yang dipaparkan. Berpikir kritis juga dipahami sebagai kegiatan menganalisis idea atau gagasan ke arah yang lebih spesifik, membedakannya secara tajam, memilih, mengidentifikasi, mengkaji, dan mengembangkannya ke arah yang lebih sempurna. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menyelidiki: pengaruh strategi reciprocal teaching terhadap keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian jenis quasi eksperimen. Populasinya adalah seluruh peserta didik di SD Nanggalo Tarusan Pesisir Selatan dan sampelnya adalah peserta didik kelas VA dan VB sebanyak 50 orang. Teknik pengeambilan sampel ini porpusive sampling. Data dari hasil penelitian diperoleh dari tes keterampilan berpikir kritis. Hasil penelitian menunujukan bahwa keterampilan berpikir kritis peserta didik yang diberi strategi reciprocal teaching lebih tinggi dibandingkan pembelajaran konvesional.Kata Kunci: Reciprocal teaching, Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis, Tematik

This study was aimed to determine the differences: (1) the difference of critical thinking skills of students' that using Inquiry Training and Direct Instruction. (2) The difference of critical thinking skills among students who at high scientific attitude and students who at low scientific attitude. (3) To see if there is interaction between inquiry learning model of the scientific attitude students' to increase the ability to critical thinking. This is a quasi experimental research. Which students of private junior high school Two Raya Kahean District Simalungun. Population choose random sample of each class. Instrument used consisted of: (1) test the scientific attitude of students through a questionnaire with 25 statements questionnaire number (2) test the critical thinking skills in the form of descriptions by 9 questions. The data were analyzed according to ANAVA. It showed that: (1) There are differences in students' critical thinking of skills achievement Inquiry Training model and Direct Instruction model, (2) there was a difference of students' critical thinking in scientific attitude at high is better than who thought there is a difference of students' critical thinking in scientific attitude at low. (3) There was no interaction between Inquiry Training model and Direct Instruction with the scientific attitude students' to increase student’s critical thinking of skills.

Telah dilaksanakan penelitian tentang “Penerapan pendekatan STM (Sains Teknologi Masyarakat) pada konsep pencemaran lingkungan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar, kemampuan berpikir kritis, dan sikap peduli lingkungan di SMA Negeri 4 Wira Bangsa Meulaboh”. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui perbedaan hasil belajar, kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi pencemaran lingkungan yang dibelajarkan dengan pendekatan STM dan tanpa STM. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimental semu. Populasi dalam penelitian ini seluruh siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 4 Wira Bangsa Meulaboh, berjumlah 80 siswa yang berasal dari 3 kelas. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah sebanyak 2 kelas yang ditentukan secara random sampling terdiri dari kelas eksperimen (dengan pendekatan STM) dan kelas kontrol (tanpa pendekatan STM). Instrumen penelitian ini menggunakan tes hasil belajar, tes kemampuan berpikir kritis. Pengujian hipotesis dilakukan dengan menggunakan uji-t Hasil pengujian hipotesis diperoleh thitung hasil belajar = 8,62, thitung kemampuan berpikir kritis = 11,15, dan thitung Karena harga thitung > ttabel maka Ha diterima dan harga thitung < ttabelmaka Ha ditolak artinya ada perbedaan peningkatan hasil belajar, kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dengan pembelajaran STM dan tanpa pendekatan STM pada materi pencemaran lingkungan di SMA Negeri 4 Wira Bangsa Meulaboh. Kata Kunci: Pendekatan STM, dan Pencemaran Lingkungan A research entitled, "The application of the STM approach (Science Technology Society) on the concept of environmental pollution to improve learning outcomes, critical thinking skills, and attitudes of environmental care in SMA 4 Wira Bangsa Meulaboh " has been conducted. The purposes of this study were to find out differences in students’ learning outcomes and critical thinking skills on environmental pollution material by using STM approach. This research used quasi-experimental method. The population of this study was all of students class X of SMA Negeri 4 Wira Bangsa Meulaboh. There were 80 students from three classes. The samples were chosen randomly that consisted of two classes namely experimental class and control class. The instruments used were test for learning outcome and test for critical thinking skills. The data then analyzed by using t-test. The results of t-test for learning outcomes was 8.62, meanwhile, t-test of critical thinking skills was 11.15. Since t-count > t-table, thus Ha is accepted. If t-count < t- table then, Ha is rejected. It means there were some differences on students’ learning outcome and critical thinking skills after learning environmental pollution material by using STM approach and without using it. Climate change is urgent world issue that should be face critically by student. This article tries to illustrate one effort to improve student critical thinking skill toward climate change topics through developing Android-based learning module. By employing design and development research (DDR) approach this research using Search, Solve, Create, and Share (SSCS) learning model on producing the module. In the end of the process the module is ready for use because the comparison between experimental class and control class indicates that there is an increasing of student critical thinking skills when they use the module. Therefore, Android and others technological product should be recognize as having huge potential to encourage student awareness and critical thinking toward climate change issues. Abstrak Perubahan iklim adalah masalah dunia yang mendesak yang harus dihadapi secara kritis oleh siswa. Artikel ini menggambarkan satu upaya meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa terhadap topik-topik perubahan iklim dalam mata pelajaran di sekolah melalui pengembangan modul pembelajaran berbasis Android. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan Design & Development Research (DDR) penelitian ini menggunakan model pembelajaran Search, Solve, Create, dan Share (SSCS) dalam pengembangan modulnya. Pada akhir proses, modul siap digunakan karena perbandingan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa ketika mereka menggunakan modul tersebut. Dengan demikian, Android dan produk teknologi lainnya harus diakui memiliki potensi besar untuk mendorong kesadaran dan daya kritis siswa terhadap masalah perubahan iklim.

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Problem Based Learning (PBL)-based e-module. The method used was a quasi-experimental with a Posttest Only Control Design. The pilot sample in this study were the students of the Biology Study Program, Universitas NegeriPadang (UNP) in 2019 academic year chosen by using a purposive sampling technique. The instruments used in this study were the lecturer interview questionnaires, student needs analysis questionnaires, validity and practicality questionnaires and evaluation questions based on critical thinking indicators. The results of the analysis of evaluation questions showed that the mean scores of critical thinking skills of the experimental class students were higher than the control class. The mean score of the experimental class was 76.89 while the control class was 65.11. The result of critical thinking t test shows that t count (0.000) < from (0.05). Thus, it indicates that the e-module on PBL-based classical genetic material is effective for improving the students' critical thinking skills.

The learning process at SMAN 1 Kluet Utara and SMAN 1 Kluet Selatan, does not appear to have developed critical thinking skills of students, this is because learning does not provide opportunities for students to identify problems and conclude new ideas or a observational act. The process of learning biology in schools does not encourage students to think critically. The research objective was to analyze the improvement of critical thinking skills by using the discovery learning model combined with constructivism-based modulesin on the excretory system concept. The method used was a quasi-experimental, pretest posttest design non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study were 156 students of class 11th MIPA who came from two schools, while the sample was 104 taken by purposive sampling.The instrument used was a reasoned multiple choice question accompanied by a rubric. The data analysis used was n-gain and independent sample t-test. The results showed that the critical thinking skills obtained was 0.78, with an increase in class critical thinking skills including the high category. This shows that there are differences in the critical thinking skills of students between the experimental class and the control class on excretory system concept in class 11thSMAN 1 Kluet Utara and SMAN 1 Kluet Selatan. Thus, the implementation of discovery learning model combined with constructivism-based modulescan improve students' critical thinking skills on excretory system concept.
