The new millennium has given way to the growth of knowledge based, seamless global Society, characterized by constant rapid change quite difficult for an average mind to even gauge. In the new millennium it has become imperative for businesses throughout the world to conduct business ethically, in order to survive, grow and thrive. Ethical practices contribute to an organizations productivity by minimizing losses, creating trust with suppliers, establishing customer loyalty and maintaining a successful team of employees. This research paper through an empirical study, has attempted to discuss the various components, the parameters and its effects on business and the customers wholly. These components have been brought out based on discussions with top management of various Hotels and Resorts in Bangalore. The methodology adopted is personal Interviews and discussions. It is found that, the hotel and resorts who have who have seriously focused on ethical responsibility have experienced improvement in share value, client retention, and attraction of new clients, investors, and employees. In addition they experience a lowered risk of compliance violations and better financial performance for the organization.

In every business, independently of the activity, human resources are the most precious capital. In terms of global competition and rapid change, personnel training are essential. Every manager should be able to attract qualified and capable personnel, in order to use their skills in achieving organizational objectives. In a market economy where uncertainty is rather widespread, obtaining knowledge and information is becoming a source for creating competing advantages.One of the most important aspects in contemporary hotel industry is getting to know the new methods and techniques through training. Staff training is an important part in Human Resource Management, in order to improve employee performance, respectively it helps putting their skills to better use and specialization in their work. Application of an efficient training process has an important impact in increasing employee performance.     The aim of this study is to understand the importance of personnel training in hotel industry. The study includes the theoretical part for staff training, importance and benefits. The empirical part is composed by a qualitative method research of Hotel Dukagjini in Peja. The paper’s results have shown that management has a relatively good understan-ding of the importance of personnel training; the hotel may be in a favorable situation if the employees keep taking continuous training.

The changes brought about by trends such as globalization, technological developments, and knowledge-based economy, and the speed of these changes are forcing the enterprises to create more innovative ways of doing business and business processes. This rapid change has also affected and altered human resources departments' way of business. In this chapter, the changes in human resources management functions and applications with the effect of technology during this time have been explained. In addition, the electronic human resources management process and its applications, which have been more important as a result of developed human resources technology, are examined and presented in this chapter.

This paper presents the view that with the rapid change in technology, which necessitates the constant rethinking of the supporting conceptual frameworks, spatial science practitioners need to be well grounded in the basic technological concepts and research arguments in order to perform their varied tasks with knowledge based integrity. Cartography has now been placed in the public domain as well as in GIS. GIS in turn has introduced GIS Cartography and is also practiced in the public domain. In both cases, there are situations where people do cartography and GIS without understanding their basic concepts and principles. The paper seeks to shed light on the varied exemplification of the cartography and GIS disciplines with a bias in developing country contexts where there is still a piecewise treatment of these disciplines in education and work environments and a shortage of professional bodies and certification routines. By discussing basic concepts and conceptual frameworks, the practice environments, education and accreditation as well as professional certification, the paper highlights some of the basic requirements of spatial science practitioners. The paper is written from the Botswana context as an example of a developing country context, but most issues should relate to other developing country contexts too.

Knowledge is an infinite resource of hotel enterprises and society as a whole. In hotel enterprises, it serves as a platform for practising sustainable development and gaining competitive advantages. Knowledge-based economic development provides the best opportunities for dealing with a global environment in which rapid and dynamic changes are taking place. Seen as a precondition to success, Knowledge Management (KM) will result in generating value-added in tourism. A survey was conducted in large and mid-sized hotel enterprises to demonstrate their KM level and the contribution of KM in gaining competitive advantages in the Croatian hotel industry. Empirical research was used to establish the level of KM development in the Croatian hotel industry, and to determine the importance of KM in gaining competitive advantages in the hotel industry. In addition to knowledge, quality is a vital factor in gaining competitive advantages in hotel enterprises. Globalized markets and increasingly discerning customers, demanding more and more for their money, are compelling product and service providers to ground their business systems on customer needs. Total Quality Management (TQM)—a new management philosophy—enables the systematic application of these ideas. This chapter looks at several TQM approaches that define the basic elements essential to successful TQM implementation, in particular, the element pertaining to employees. The application of these elements in the Croatian hotel industry is presented through the results of empirical research on a sample of mid-sized and large hotel enterprises.

Science parks have played an important role in promoting innovation, entrepreneur‐ship, growth of knowledge‐based companies and in turn economic growth within their regions. In this paper, an evaluation system for measuring innovation capability for science parks has been developed, including Innovation Organization Sub‐System (IOSS, mainly for high‐tech firms), Innovation Support Sub‐System (ISSS, e.g., technology intermediaries) and Innovation Environmental Sub‐Systems (IESS). Based on the empirical study on Qingdao Science Park (1994–2008), this paper has demonstrated the use of the system for evaluation and measurement of innovation capabilities for a science park. The findings reveal that the evolution law explained by the evaluation system fitted with three components is consistent with the actual evolution process of the Qingdao Science Park. It confirms that this evaluation system bears a good explanatory power for the development of Science Park. In addition, recommendations to improve the capabilities of continuous innovation for science parks are also given. Santrauka Mokslo ir technologijų parkai yra labai svarbūs diegiant naujovęs, skatinant verslumą ir žiniomis gristų bendrovių augima. Tai savo ruožtų skatina ekonominį regionų augimą. Šiame straipsnyje aprašoma sukurta mokslo ir technologiju parkų inovacinio pajėgumo įvertinimo sistema, kurioje yra organizacijos inovacijų posistemis (skirtas daugiausia aukštųjų technologijų įmonėms), inovacijų paramos posistemis (skirtas, pavyzdžiui, technologijų platintojams) ir inovacijų aplinkos posistemis. Minėta įvertinimo sistema buvo pritaikyta remiantis Qingdao mokslo ir technologijų parko (1994–2008) empirine tyrimo studija. Išvados rodo, kad inovacinio pajėgumo tyrimo įvertinimo sistema pagal tris komponentus atitinka faktine Qingdao mokslo ir technologijų parko raidą. Tai patvirtina įvertinimo sistemos naudingumą vertinant mokslo ir technologijų parkų plėtra. Straipsnyje pateikiamos rekomendacijos, kaip pagerinti naujovių diegimą mokslo ir technologijų parkuose.

Intercultural education in Chile has focused on early childhood for more than a decade. Different measures have been implemented to strength an intercultural approach in preschools. The most outstanding has been the connection of intercultural preschools with Indigenous communities. However, these educational policies have not been accompanied by adequate resources and teacher preparation, resulting in significant shortcomings in the collaboration between Indigenous communities and preschools. To address the relevance of Mapuche (People of the Land; Indigenous inhabitants of south-central Chile and southwestern Argentina; speakers of Mapudungun) communities in intercultural preschools, this study created and implemented a pilot initiative. Using a decolonial and critical pedagogy-of-place approach, the main findings show that educators began considering Mapuche communities beyond families, discussed the role of urban Mapuche communities, and improved ethical practices to work with Indigenous communities. These findings lead me to propose recommendations in reference to policies and teacher education.
