A review of the literature has shown that the problem of treatment for fractures of the ankle joint with rupture of the tibiofibular syndesmosis is still far from being solved, as evidenced by the frequency of unsatisfactory results during surgeries — 4.8–36.8 %. In the future, the issue and the need to develop a dynamic fixation device, which is able to duplicate the function lost due to damage to the tibiofibular syndesmosis, remain relevant.

Pure Ankle dislocation is an ankle dislocation without any associated fractures of the ankle and an intact tibiofibular syndesmosis. Only a few isolated case reports and small series of cases are reported in literature. We report a posterior dislocation of ankle joint without any bony fractures with description of its mechanism, management, and literature review Keywords: Pure Ankle dislocation; ankle dislocation without fracture; posterior dislocation of ankle.


BACKGROUND: The present work is a review of the literature on the main complications related to local anesthetics and brings what the articles indicate about the incidences of the future. OBJECTIVE: To deal with the main documented complications and, using the available information, draw a picture of future complications. METHOD: The basic information was found in searches in the PubMed, MEDLINE, SciELO and Google Scholar databases. RESULT: Complications found were: Injection pain, needle breaking, trismus, hematoma, infection, edema, necrosis, allergies, intoxication, methemoglobinemia, ophthalmic changes, paraesthesia and complications modulated by systemic changes. The authors conclude that the next few years may have an increase in the impact of complications.

AbstractReports of incidental pneumomediastinum in infants secondary to inflicted trauma are limited. A retrospective review of infants with pneumomediastinum and history of inflicted trauma was performed. A comprehensive literature review was performed. Three infants presented with pneumomediastinum associated with inflicted trauma. Mean age was 4.6 weeks. All patients underwent diagnostic studies, as well as a standardized evaluation for nonaccidental trauma. All patients with pneumomediastinum were resolved at follow-up. Review of the literature identified other cases with similar presentations with related oropharyngeal injuries. Spontaneous pneumomediastinum in previously healthy infants may be associated with inflicted injuries. Clinicians should be aware of the possibility of an oropharyngeal perforation related to this presentation.

A review of the literature on the stages of the formation of temporary and permanent occlusion has been performed. This stages play an important role not only for the full development of the maxillofacial apparatus, temporomandibular joint, but also the whole organism. The role of early tooth extraction in the formation of the physiological state of the dentoalveolar system is considered. The conclusion is drawn about the need for a deeper study of this problem in the structure of general dental morbidity.

The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the necessity of good quality and adequate quantity of healthcare infrastructure facilities. Healthcare facilities were provided for COVID-19 facilities with improvisation and supplementary lateral infrastructure from other sectors. However, the main point of contemplation going into the future was regarding how to quickly develop healthcare facilities. The subject domain of ‘industrial engineering’ (IE) and its associated perspectives could provide some key insights regarding this. The authors undertook a conceptual literature review and provided theoretical argumentation toward this. The findings provided insights regarding the application of industrial engineering concepts in healthcare facilities and services.

Pneumoconiosis, or occupational lung disease, is one of the world’s most prevalent work-related diseases. Silicosis, a type of pneumoconiosis, is caused by inhaling respirable crystalline silica (RCS) dust. Although silicosis can be fatal, it is completely preventable. Hundreds of thousands of workers globally are at risk of being exposed to RCS at the workplace from various activities in many industries. Currently, in Australia and internationally, there are a range of methods used for the respiratory surveillance of workers exposed to RCS. These methods include health and exposure questionnaires, spirometry, chest X-rays, and HRCT. However, these methods predominantly do not detect the disease until it has significantly progressed. For this reason, there is a growing body of research investigating early detection methods for silicosis, particularly biomarkers. This literature review summarises the research to date on early detection methods for silicosis and makes recommendations for future work in this area. Findings from this review conclude that there is a critical need for an early detection method for silicosis, however, further laboratory- and field-based research is required.

Objective: Continuous improvement is vital to ensuring quality in sonography education. The aim of this literature review was to compile and summarize the current literature on accreditation, credentialing, and quality improvement initiatives in sonography education. Materials & Methods: Four sonography-specific journals and six health science/academic databases were searched using the terms education, sonography, ultrasound, accreditation, credential, and quality. The search was limited to findings in the English language, from 2000 to 2020. Results: The search uncovered only 19 articles on this topic in sonography education. The vast majority of papers focused on quality improvement initiatives, while just a few concentrated on accreditation or credentialing. Conclusion: Much of the contemporary sonography educational literature focuses on clinical, lab, or didactic quality improvement initiatives. Overall, it is clear that more research is needed in the field of sonography education. This review provides examples of quality initiative research in other allied health fields that can be useful guides for future sonography educational research.

AbstractThe qualified human resources with high competitiveness and employability skills are needed to face the era of technological disruption, but employers find a lack of expertise among job seekers. Insufficient skills are related to the issue of education quality. This study aims to identify the employers’ employability skills needed in the career field and the way to integrate it into the instructional process. The research was conducted through Systematic Literature Review (SLR) and mapping approach that consisted of three stages: planning, conducting, and reporting. The literature reviews in this research were derived from Science direct, Springer and IEEE as the main references. The results from the analysis in the literature review showed that employability skills are needed in relation to the work demands in the future according to the employers covering communication, team working, problem solving, and technological skills. The implementation of employability skills in the instructional process is to integrate them into the classroom for all subjects.
