Hidden Champions, little-known global market leaders, are extremely important for the export performance of countries. They are a little-used source of management knowledge. No country has more Hidden Champions than Germany. After a phase of hyper globalization the Hidden Champions are facing new challenges, especially from rising Chinese competitors. They have to increase their R&D activities once again and include unfamiliar areas of knowledge in the process. They need to relocate their centers of excellence to the best place, which is often China. New drivers such as digitalization, business ecosystems and sustainability require them to adapt and open up their traditionally closed corporate cultures. This applies equally to cooperation partners and foreign environments.

China is one of the world's biggest importers of agricultural products. Until quite recently, China's agricultural policy focused on food self-sufficiency. Globalizing trade in agricultural commodities, however, has brought new challenges to establishing secure supply and achieving security rather than self-sufficiency. In the face of emerging trade tensions with the USA, one of China's responses to the emerging volatility of the global market is to expand production facilities abroad and thus diversify deliveries. This chapter discusses how China's Belt and Road Initiative may serve improving food security of the country by establishing of a predictable system of agricultural production and trade across Eurasia, particularly, with the involvement of land-abundant Russia and the countries of Central Asia. The author explores possible responses to emerging threats to China's domestic food market by elaborating an approach to theoretical definitions and practical issues of ensurance of food security and adaptation of China's policy to contemporary global challenges.

Bangladeshs export earning has significantly increased over a period of time. Readymade garments (RMG), jute, and leather are the top three export earning sectors. This paper uses a multiple linear regression model to explain the relationship between total exports, and the top three export earning sectors. This paper finds Bangladeshs export performance is highly dependent on the RMG sector while Bangladesh has a comparative advantage for many other sectors in the global market. On the other hand, Bangladeshs export market is also concentrated with few countries. Less diversification in products and markets is a great concern for the export economy of Bangladesh because competition in the global export market is always rising. In such a situation there is no other way to emphasize product diversification and explore new markets to reduce high dependency on a few big markets.

The article considers the development trends of international and domestic tourism in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and the quarantine restrictions that it caused. The change of indicators characterizing the tourist activity in the world in 2020 in comparison with 2019 and their corresponding change in the contribution of tourism to world GDP are analyzed. It is stated that the tourism industry has become one of the most affected sectors of the economy from the effects of quarantine bans and restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The experience of some countries in the introduction of anti-crisis measures for tourism has been identified. It was noted that the governments of most countries responded fairly quickly to the need to minimize the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economy, based on two general approaches to resolving the situation: the first approach was to provide affordable credit lines for business, the second – to delay debt and tax liabilities. In addition, the countries implemented measures to support citizens who lost their jobs due to quarantine restrictions. It is noted that special attention is paid to the resumption of tourism by those countries that consider the tourism industry to be strategically important and a priority. It is emphasized that that during the pandemic period, not only travel underwent transformations, but also new forms and terms appeared, which reveal these changes and reflect the attitude to them. It is emphasized that in Ukraine, unfortunately, there is a significant lag in the pace of implementation of anti-crisis measures aimed at supporting the most affected sectors of the economy, and in particular tourism. Therefore, it inevitably poses a serious threat to the competitiveness of the domestic tourism industry in the global market during its recovery. Given the further uncertainty of the end of the pandemic and the likelihood of further exacerbation of the crisis, Ukraine needs to prioritize the development of domestic tourism, which should be developed on the basis of advanced infrastructure and attractive and affordable tourism products.

Export sector is considered as the backbone of any economy. The economy which is efficient and competitive in global market enjoys better export performance otherwise become dependence on foreign goods market. Pakistan being a developing economy faces worse export performance as compare to its past competitors and currently economy faces huge current account deficit. The current study made an attempt to check the relationship between Industrial Policy and export diversification using ARDL approach because of different integration nature of variables under consideration from 1980-2018. The findings of the study suggests that there is strong relationship between industrial Policy instruments and export diversification both in short run and long run and by enhancing strong and visionary Industrial Policies and less relying on imports, the economy can enjoy sufficient growth and diversify its export structure.

Competitiveness is a central issue of a growing open, interconnected and integrated global economy, but it is not yet uniquely defined. There are many factors that determine competitiveness, and they change with the development of globalization, and even today, under the conditions of Industry 4.0. The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has also provoked a situation in which both policies to foster competitiveness need to be adapted. In order to achieve competitiveness, countries must create factors and develop policies that will create the conditions for better positioning in the global market. In order to successfully integrate into new markets, but at the same time highlight and continue economic development, reevaluation of competitiveness determinants, as well as past positioning strategies, is necessary. The paper analyses the theoretical settings and determinants of competitiveness, as well as the challenges of today that economies should respond to. Understanding new features of the competitiveness can help policymakers develop approaches for enhancing their economic performance.

The growing Asian middle class, the proliferation of export markets and a more discerning domestic consumer base are creating new opportunities and challenges for the Australian pork industry. To fully capitalise on these opportunities and face these new challenges, the right questions need to be asked by the Australian pork industry. We need to know not only what our consumers want, but who our consumers are. The present paper aims to demonstrate that novel approaches to investigate consumer attitudes will be required, and it cannot be assumed that current productions systems, products and marketing strategies are optimal for the changing environment and the creation of new premium market opportunities. With new markets and new products come new consumers; identifying who those consumers are, the networks they operate within as food consumers, and what influences their purchasing decisions are the key to their adopting Australian pork as premium produce in a new global market.

AbstractThe competitiveness of the national economy, its sectors and companies is essential for economic growth and development in the conditions of the global market. This importance is especially expressed for small open economies, such as Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H). Bosnia and Herzegovina must strengthen its export position in the most competitive sectors, so that it can develop under conditions of increasingly liberalized world trade, with growing competition. The aim of this paper is to investigate the sectora structure of B&H exports, the competitiveness, significance and performance of certain sectors, in order to identify weaknesses and possible ways o improvement. For the purposes of this analysis, the Trade Competitiveness Map analysis methodology was used to assess the competitiveness of the sector, using the Trade Performance Index (TPI). The main aim of the methodology is to determine sectoral export performance, in order to facilitate strategic market research and monitoring of national foreign trade performance. B&H has the poor export sector structure, with the low level o international competitiveness, reflected in the large share of resource intensive products and low-value processing products with low added value Improving competitiveness could be achieved by strengthening the most competitive sectors, as well as by changing the economic structure towards the development of technologically intensive and highly profitable sectors o the economy.

The technologization of cross-linguistic communication and the expansion of the learning of for- eign languages has helped create new, non- linguist users. Corpus-based applications offer a way of responding to these new challenges. This presentation focuses on the design and building process of the BiTeX app, designed to write recipes in both En and Es through controlled language choices. The starting point is a custom-made, rhetorically and POS annotated, En-Es comparable corpus of recipes containing 135,912 words in the En and 145,449 in the Es subcorpus respectively. The BiText prototype has been developed using MongoDB 1, Express 2, Node.js 3 and jQuery 4, which allow for multiple concurrent connections to be handled without I/O blocks. BiTeX aims at helping improve international communication in the restaurant and catering community, as well as boosting collateral business niches in including recipe books, tourist-oriented websites, etc.
