The medicinal plant Calycopteris floribunda Roxb. Lam. commonly known as “Ukshi” belongs to the family Combretaceae. Calycopteris floribunda is a large evergreen climbing shrub native of Bangladesh and India. It is widely distributed in the central and southern parts of India and also found in south-east Asian countries. The branches store abundant water for its own purpose as well to quench the thirst of the forest dwellers. Hence the forest habitants are referring this plant as a lifesaver. Calycopteris floribunda finds a place in traditional Asian medicinal systems, including Ayurveda, Folk and Unani. The anti-inflammatory flavonoid compound calycopterin is present in the leaves of the plant. In Ayurveda this plant is used to treat for leprosy, malarial fever, dysentery, ulcers, vomiting, wound healing and cytotoxic. It is hepatoprotective, antimicrobial, antiviral and used for numerous ailments. A review on the medicinal plant Calycopteris floribunda was done in the period from 1934 to 2020. Here, we are focusing on the isolation, phytochemical constitution and pharmacological potential of Calycopteris floribunda plant.

Bauhinia purpurea (B. purpurea) (family: Fabaceae) commonly called as butter fly tree has vast medicinal uses and remarkable pharmacological potential. Various phytoconstituents, extracts and parts of this plant were possess significant pharmacological activities such as cardiac activity, antifungal, wound healing, antidiabetic, antiulcer, antioxidant, antinociceptive, hepatoprotective, nephroprotective, antidiarrhoeal, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, analgesic, antimalarial, gastro protective and cytoprotective activity. The present study emphasizes the overview of recent studies and/or updates on pharmacological potential of B. purpurea.

Given the changes of the modern family, this study seeks to compare the ways in which television dramas of four East Asian societies, namely Korea, China, Japan and Taiwan, represent the family and family relationships. By analysing their similarities and differences, the study attempts to explore changes of family in these supposedly Confucian East Asian societies. Three analytic categories were proposed: the structure and form of the family as represented in dramas; family relationships; individuality and the family. The study found that the historical trajectories of East Asian countries are articulated in the different familial representations across the television dramas of the countries in the region surveyed. The common assumption that all East Asian countries have the same model of the Confucian family therefore needs to be re-examined along the more specific national conditions.

As mentioned in the texts such as Vedas, Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita, Bergenia ciliata is a known to be the ancient and medicinal plant belonging to the family Saxifragaceae. It can be found as a shrub or an herb, while some are trees or vines. The family includes about 80 genera, 1250 species and has biological properties that are possessed by the different plant parts including antibacterial, antiviral, antioxidant, anti-ulcer, anti-diabetic, analgesic, anti-plasmodial, antitumor, antitussive activity, antineoplastic, diuretic and anti-inflammatory properties. Many of its members grow in rocky places. Bergenia ciliata itself shows that the plant originate between rocks and appears to break them or that it possesses lithotroptic property. It’s different plant parts are reported to have different medicinal properties. There are three species of Bergenia found in India Bergenia ligulata, Bergenia ciliata, Bergenia stracheyi. The rhizomes of these plants are used in the indigenous system of medicines.

Euryops arabicus Steud (E. arabicus) belongs to the family Asteraceae. It has several uses in folk medicine in the Arabian Peninsula. The current study aimed at evaluating the wound healing properties of the E. arabicus extract in rats. Primarily, E. arabicus successfully accelerated cell migration in vitro and it also showed no signs of dermal toxicity. Topical application of E. arabicus extract (5% or 20%) expedited healing of excised skin in rats. Histological examinations indicated that E. arabicus shortened epithelization period, stimulated fibroblast activity, and increased collagen deposition in wound tissues. The plant extract exerted antioxidant activity as evidenced by inhibition of GSH depletion and MDA accumulation and enhanced mRNA expression of Sod1 in wound tissues collected at the end of the experiment. Further, E. arabicus inhibited the rise of TNF-α and IL-1β in the skin wound region. The anti-inflammatory was confirmed by the observed down regulation of Ptgs2, Nos2, IL-6, and NF-κB mRNA expression. In addition, the extract enhanced the expression of TGF-β1 and HIF-1α in wounded skin tissues as indicated immunohistochemically. Conclusively, E. arabicus expedites excision wound healing in rats. Collagen-enhancing, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties mediate the observed wound healing activity. These findings might contribute to our understanding of the ethnobotanical use of E. arabicus in wounds.

Objectives: Cassia obtusifolia L. belonging to the Family Caesalpiniaceae, proposed to have abundant pharmacological potential and widely consumed as laxative, diuretic, and stomachic. The aim of the present research was to study the anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic, and antioxidant potentials of C. obtusifolia plant. Methods: Various acute and chronic animal models such as Carrageenan-induced paw edema, tail immersion method, acetic acid-induced writhing, and in vitro methods were used to study the profound pharmacological and antioxidant potentials. Results: The results for pharmacological study were statistically analyzed by one-way ANOVA followed by Dunnett’s multiple comparisons using INTA software. Conclusion: The present study reveals that C. obtusifolia possesses comparable anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic, and antioxidant potential.

Since ancient times human utilized the nature to cure various ailments. The knowledge of medicinal plants resulted in the development of various indigenous systems of medicine worldwide. Serendipitous discovery as well as scientific approach on the reason for medicinal properties of plants gave the knowledge of chemical constituents such as secondary metabolites in plants. Wrightia tinctoria which is commonly known as ‘Danthapala’ is a known potential medicinal plant, the leaves of which is traditionally used in the treatment of psoriasis and non-specific dermatitis in Siddha and Ayurvedic systems of medicine and distributed in tropical region belongs to the family Apocynaceae. This plant is beneficial for the treatment of dandruff, various scalp and skin disorders. Phytochemical and pharmacological investigation on the various parts of the plant showed anti-ulcer, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anthelmintic, anti-cancer, anti-dandruff, wound healing and anti-anxiety activity. The current review focus on providing an update on the recent pharmacological and phytochemical investigations on the plant by researchers around the globe with special emphasis on Antisporiatic, Antifungal, Antibacterial, Antiviral, Cytotoxic, Anti-inflammatory, Anti-diabetic, Analgesic, Hepatoprotective, Anthelmintic, and Wound healing activities.

Background: Anacyclus pyrethrum (A. pyrethrum) is a wild species belonging to the family Asteraceae, which is used in traditional medicines. Aim of the study: This work was undertaken to study the chemical composition, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and wound healing properties of hydroalcoholic extracts of different parts (roots, seeds, leaves, and capitula) of A. pyrethrum. Material and Methods: The phytochemical analysis of the studied extracts was conducted by GC-MS. The analgesic activity was evaluated in mice using acetic acid and formaldehyde methods. The anti-inflammatory activity was tested using the inhibitory method of edema induced in rats. The healing activity of the hydroethanolic extracts was explored by excision and incision wound healing models in rats. Results: The phytochemical analysis of the studied plant extracts affirmed the presence of interesting compounds, including some newly detected elements, such as sarcosine, N-(trifluoroacetyl)-butyl ester, levulinic acid, malonic acid, palmitic acid, morphinan-6-One, 4,5.alpha.-epoxy-3-hydroxy-17-methyl, 2,4-undecadiene-8,10-diyne-N-tyramide, and isovaleric acid. The extracts of different parts (roots, seeds, leaves, and capitula) exhibited promising anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and wound healing effects, with percentages of inhibition up to 98%, 94%, and 100%, respectively. Conclusion: This study might contribute towards the well-being of society as it provides evidence on the potential analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and wound healing properties of A. pyrethrum.
