The phenomenon of miss interpretation and the mismatch of the desired meaning in a song's lyrics results in the wrong use of the song in an event. This study discusses the types of figurative meaning and their meaning related to each type. The data of this study were taken from the song lyrics of Queen’s album. Data were collected by analyzing base on the theoretical concepts and the data were analyzed using the observation method. Data were obtained from listening and reading the song lyrics repeatedly. Based on the result of the analysis, it was found that there are nine types of figurative meaning that are used in twelve songs from Queen’s Album. The figurative meaning that are used are metaphor, metonymy, overstatement/hyperbole, paradox, simile, symbol, synecdoche, euphemism, and idiom. Metaphor, metonymy, overstatement/hyperbole, simile, symbol, and idiom are the dominant type appeared the most with each 5 data, following by euphemism with 4 data, and the last are paradox and synecdoche with each 1 data. Thus, the total of all the data are 36 of the figurative meaning found in Queen’s album. Metaphor, metonymy, overstatement/hyperbole, simile, symbol, and idiom are the dominant typed found in the song lyric because Queen’s mostly uses substitutes and imagery in their songs.

AbstractThe aim of this study was to identify the types of figurative language used in the lyric of Saif Adam songs and the dominant types of figurative language found in the lyric of Saif Adam songs. The method used in this study is a descrptive qualitative method. This research used the theory of Perrine. The researcher found 8 types of figurative language used in Saif Adam’s song lyrics such as hyperbole, irony, metaphor, personification, simile, litotes, metonymy, and paradox. The data were collected by reading the lyrics of Saif Adam’s song. There were 14 of hyperbole, 3 of Irony, 20 of metaphor, 11 of personification, 10 of simile, 5 of litotes, 10 of metonymy, and 7 of paradox. This study found that the most dominant type of figurative language was metaphor with the percentage of 25%. It was followed by hyperbole with the percentage of 17.5%. Then, it was followed by personification with percentage 13.75%,. simile and metonymy with the percentage of 11.3%. And also it was followed by paradox and litotes with the proportion of 7.9% and 5.6%. Irony was the least dominant one with the percentage of only 3.4%.Key words :  Semantics, Figurative language, Song, Religious Song, Lyric.

AbstractThis research aims to analyze four types of deixis by using theory of Alan Cruse (2000), interpret the reference meaning of deixis and find out the most dominant type of deixis that found in the song lyrics of Taylor Swift “22”. it consists of such deictic words that has reference meanings. Therefore, the song lyrics can be analyzed using pragmatic approach,specifically about deixis. This study was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data which is used is the song of Taylor Swift “22” and then it is classified into the types of deixis. The findings showed that the types of deixis like person deixis, spatial deixis, temporal deixis, and discourse deixis are used in the song lyrics of Taylor Swift “22”. Based on discussion and finding can be concluded that all deixis are found in all songs, personal deixis is the most being found (15 Deictic words or 51,7%) the word “I, Me, You and We dominate all songs. in the second position Discourse Deixis is found (8 deictic words or 27,6%) and Spatial Deixis (5 deictic words or 17,2%), in the last position is Temporal Deixis (1 Deictic words or 3,4% )Keywords: pragmatics, deixis, song lyric

To make human morality necessary educational concept which is not simply to make students know, but how education can make students can applys in his life, it’s called as akhlak education, base to God education, human beings and the environment. Values ​​in the lyrics, especially akhlak education are often used to talk about, but unfortunately, not much to put it in the book. A song lyric is one of values transformation media, that can be transformed to other people that song lyrics to be understood its meaning first. Paul Riceour’s hermeneutic is one of the  analysis methode to understand the meaning of a literary work through the analysis of metaphors and symbols, so that the literary work can transforming value to others. Accordingly, this article will discuss about the akhlak education values in  pergi belajar lyric by Mrs. Sud using Paul Riceour’s hermeneutic.

This study aims to determine the meaning of the valuecontained in the song lyrics haholongi ma Sidoli worksDompak sinaga. The theory used is the meaning, value, Songand Poetry. The meaning is the meaning or intent of a wordthat summed. Values mean something that has a quality angle,song is a composition of the tone or voice. The researchmethod used is descriptive qualitative. This research wasconducted in Humbang Hasundutan and research was startedin December 2015 to February 2016. The study populationwas not there. While the sample is Haholongi Song Ma SidoliDompak Sinaga work as much as one song and DompakSinaga. The results of this study indicate that the meaning ofthe song lyric Haholongi Ma Sidoli were lovers who are notdestined for a brotherly relationship (match). The values onthe song lyric Haholongi Ma Sidoli is: enjoyment value, thevalue of patience, the value of love, psychiatric tilapia, thevalue of life.

This research aims to identify and classify; analytic, paradoxical, and synthetic sentences which are logical types of sentences in the song lyric of  ABC by The Jackson 5 and The Hard Way by The Kinks in order to get the virtue of meanings of the lyrics.  The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative by analyzing and comparing the data by using Kant’s containment concept. The data used in this research are lyrics from the songs ABC 5 and The Hard Way. The research findings obtained: one analytic sentence in ABC, one paradoxical sentence in The Hard Way and twenty two synthetic sentences in both lyrics. The data indicate that there are more synthetic sentences rather than analytical and paradoxical sentences in the songs. In conclusion, the synthetic sentences used on the song lyrics are more fabricated for the virtue of meanings on the song lyrics than analytic and paradoxical sentences. Therefore, the listeners can express their emotions freely by song lyrics using synthetic sentences.

This research examines the style of language in song lyric entitled “A Stylistic Analysis of Hey! Say! Jump’s Song Lyrics in Jumping Car Album”. This research aims to find out the kinds of  language style and describe the meaning of the song lyrics. Language style theory used in this research is theory proposed by Keraf. This research used a descriptive research with qualitative approach. The data collection technique employed in this research was listening and note taking technique. Collected data were analyzed by using equivalent technique and technique of immediate constituent analyst. Data source used in this research is twelve song lyrics in Jumping Car album. The kinds of language style found consists of 3 (three) metaphor, 5 (five) personification, 7 (seven) simile, 16 (sixteen) allegory, 1 (one) eponym, 1 (one) synecdoche, 4 (four) metonymy, 1 (one) epithet, 1 (one) antonomasia, 1 (one) cynicism and 1 (one) sarcasm. The dominant kinds of language in this research is allegory. All of the meaning of the kinds of language which found shows songs in Jumping Car album describing love and life story in which contain happiness and sadness.

Tulisan ini membahas tentang ketaksaan leksikal dalam lagu “Glow Like Dat” dan “See Me” karya Rich Brian. Ketaksaan leksikal dalam lagu  dapat menyebabkan penyampaian pesan mengalami kendala pemaknaan budaya, bahasa, sosiologis, dan psikologis. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi bentuk leksikal yang digunakan di dalam lagu  tersebut apakah mengandung ketaksaan leksikal, dan kemudian menganalisis bentuk ketaksaan leksikal  dan makna kata-kata  dalam lirik lagu. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah  metode deksriptif kualitatif  dan metode non-participant observation sebagai teknik pengumpulan data. Data yang dianalisis diambil dari lirik lagu “Glow Like Dat” dan “See Me” karya Rich Brian yang kemudian diklasifikasikan ke dalam beberapa kategori ketaksaan leksikal dan pemaknaannya.  Temuan penelitian yang diperoleh adalah ketaksaan leksikal yang terdapat di dalam lagu  “Glow Like Dat” dan “See Me” karya Rich Brian dapat diklasifikasikan sebagai homonimi berbentuk homofon, serta polisemi yang dikemas dalam bentuk kata slang. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah pemahaman terhadap pemaknaan leksikal dalam lagu berbahasa Inggris  sangat penting  bagi penutur bukan berbahasa Inggris agar memperoleh pemahaman makna lagu yang komprehensif. This paper discusses lexical ambiguities in the songs "Glow Like Dat" and "See Me" by Rich Brian. Lexical ambiguities of the songs can cause the delivery of messages to experience constraints of meanings in cultural, language, sociological, and psychological aspects. The purpose of this study is to identify the lexical forms used in the songs whether they contain lexical ambiguities, and then to analyse the lexical ambiguities forms and meaning of words in song lyrics. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive method and a non-participant observation method as data collection techniques. The data analysed were taken from the lyrics of the songs "Glow Like Dat" and "See Me" by Rich Brian, which were then classified into several categories of lexical ambiguities and their meaning. The research findings obtained are the lexical ambiguities contained in the songs "Glow Like Dat" and "See Me" by Rich Brian can be classified as homonymy in the form of homophones and polysemy which are packaged in slang words.  The conclusion of this study is that the understanding of lexical meanings in English songs is very important for non-English speakers to gain a comprehensive understanding of the meaning of the songs.

The title of this research is deixis in the Song Lyrics “Level of Concern” by Twenty One Pilots. The objectives of this research are to identify the type of deixis and to find out the dominant types of deixis that are mostly used in the song lyrics entitled Level of Concern. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The researchers took the data from (Joseph, 2020) of the song lyric entitled “Level of Concern” by Twenty One Pilots, for it describes the current world situation, and the lyrics of the song contains a wide range of deixis that have attracted the researchers to examine this song. After conducting this research, the researchers concluded that three types of deixis namely personal, spatial, and temporal deixis. Personal deixis divided into three parts: the first person as speaker, the second person as hearer and the third person as others, with 77 words in that song. Temporal deixis showed a certain period of time which consist of 3 words, and the spatial deixis describes the location in a conversation which consist of  2 words. The major type from the whole data are personal deixis, because they represent the singer and the message which wanted to be delivered to the listeners. Keywords:  Pragmatic, Deixis, Song Lyric

One of the automatic way of theme grouping that can be used is K-Means Clustering. In this research, the song theme is taken from the text of song lyrics. The aim of this study is developing a system that can automatically group the song lyric theme and know the accuracy level of the grouping. The process stage is started with the data processing or text processing called as text mining. In text mining, there are some processes. First, the text operation. The text operation consists of tokenizing, stopword, steeming, and word weighting then can be processed using K-Means clustering. In clustering process, it consists of initial centroid initialization uses Variance Initialization, next counts the centroid distance on the data using Euclidean distance until get the proper grouping accurately. The accuracy counting uses confusion matrix. The next step to see the suitability system that has been made, new data is added which then is processed by a system. After that, it can decide the new data is classified into one specific theme. From the research that has been conducted as case study in Masdha Radio Yogyakarta, total data available 400 and divided into four clusters. The clusters consist of love cluster, friendship cluster, religion cluster, and fighting cluster. The result of research song lyric grouping based on the theme works well with 93.25% accuracy for the unique word frequency numbers 121 maximum and unique word 0 minimum.

Morphology is the study of word and sub-discipline of linguistics that study of word, structure and form which has component such as morpheme, base, prefix and suffix. This process can reduce ambiguity during the process of correcting the words in sentences. This study investigated about the classification of derivational and inflectional morphemes in the song lyrics of Ariana Grande’s album Thank U, Next. This study used qualitative method. Process of collecting data used to identify lyric that has derivational and inflectional morpheme. The result of this research is to indicate that the words recorded in song lyrics can be further analyzed about the process of forming words by words and the meaning of the word in it have different meaning from the literal meaning.
