Celem niniejszego artykułu jest zaprezentowanie wyników badań dotyczących znaczenia cech osobowości człowieka skazanego w procesie jego adaptacji do warunków izolacji więziennej. Badania przeprowadzono w grupie 60 mężczyzn osadzonych w Zakładzie Karnym w Białymstoku, wykorzystując test psychologiczny NEO-FFI (The NEO Five – Factor Inventory) Paula T. Costy i Roberta R. McCrae w polskiej adaptacji P. Szczepaniaka, M. Śliwińskiej, J. Strelaua, B. Zawadzkiego oraz Kwestionariusz Modele adaptacji skazanych do warunków więziennych D. Kanarek – Lizik.

Summary. Objective: A comparative study of the personality structure from the perspective the Five-factor personality model (“Big Five”) in mentally healthy and in people with personality disorders depending on the leading radical determined by the clinical method.Materials and methods: a comparative study of personality structures in the mentally healthy (13 people) and in individuals with personality disorders (47 people) was carried out. To assess the personality structure, the NEO-Five Factor Inventory questionnaire was used. Persons with personality disorders were divided into groups in accordance with the leading radical: 24 — with emotionally unstable; 13 — with a histrionic; 6 — with schizoid; 4 — with paranoid radicals. Results: There were no differences in the values of the domains of the Five-Factor personality model between a group of individuals with personality disorders and the norm. The features of domain indicators of the Five-factor personality model were revealed in individuals with personality disorder depending on theradical. Conclusion: The NEO-Five Factor Inventory questionnaire, like most other tools from the perspective of the Five-Factor Model, is not suitable for assessing a person in terms of assigning it to variants of a mental disorder. When comparing the categorical and dimensional approaches to assessing the structure of personality disorders, it was found that the obligate personality traits identified using the categorical approach are fully reflected in the «Big Five» in individuals with a leading schizoid radical. The relations of obligate personal traits with the domains of the Five-factor model of personality in individuals with other (paranoid, histrionic, and emotionally unstable) radicals are less clear.

Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) is a highly-curable malignancy mostly affecting young people. As far as we know, there is no published study that has analyzed personality profiles in HL nor their potential role in lymphomagenesis, natural history, or response to treatment. We aim to explore the personality traits of HL patients, as well as the prevalence of mental disorders and suicide ideas. We retrospectively identified all alive HL patients from three centers (Son Espases and Son Llatzer University Hospitals and Hospital del Mar of Barcelona) for using NEO Five-Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI) and Personality Inventory for DSM-5 Brief Form. Patients with HL showed significantly higher neuroticism scores and lower conscientiousness, extraversion, and openness. Considering maladaptive personality traits, HL patients showed higher levels of detachment and psychoticism. All of these translated into the fact that HL patients showed more than double the prevalence of mental illnesses (41%) and more than triple the prevalence of suicidal ideation or attempts than the general population (15 and 6%, respectively). An exploratory analysis of biomarkers associated with HL personality traits showed that higher scores of neuroticism correlated with more elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and red cell distribution width (RDW), suggesting a potential link between neuroticism and proinflammatory activity in HL.

AbstractAccumulating evidence has suggested that the molecular transcriptional mechanism contributes to Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and its endophenotypes of cognitive decline and neuropathological traits, β-amyloid (Aβ) and phosphorylated tangles (TAU). However, it is unknown what is the impact of the AD risk factors, personality characteristics assessed by the NEO Five-Factor Inventory, on the human brain’s transcriptome. Using postmortem human brain samples from 466 subjects, we found that neuroticism has a significant overall impact on the brain transcriptome (omnibus P = 0.005) but not the other four personality characteristics. Focused on those cognitive decline related gene co-expressed modules, neuroticism has nominally significant associations (P < 0.05) with four neuronal modules, which are more related to PHFtau than Aβ across all eight brain regions. Furthermore, the effect of neuroticism on cognitive decline and AD might be mediated through the expression of module 7 and TAU pathology (P = 0.008). To conclude, neuroticism has a broad impact on the transcriptome of human brains, and its effect on cognitive decline and AD may be mediated through gene transcription programs related to TAU pathology.

Junto a él destacan cuatro colaboradores: Dr. Ramos, Dra. Ballesteros, Dra. Fournier y Dra. Morán. Su legado logra el difícil equilibrio entre lo cualitativo/cuantitativo, ideográfico/nomotético, investigación básica/aplicada, en donde por encima de todo, está el sujeto, la persona.ABSTRACTWe analyze the work of Dr. Dionisio Manga and especially the period as professor at the Universidad Complutense of Madrid (1976-2000). A bibliometric analysis of the complete work is carried out, as well as its impact. It highlights his great contribution in different aspects: the divulgation of Luria's work, his neuropsychological batteries (Luria Inicial, Luria DNI-Infantil and Luria DNA-Adultos). Also his contribution in childhood neuro-psychopathology (eg. studies on dyslexia, ADHD, learning disorders, hyperactivity or epilepsy). Other interest was in the basic psychological processes (attention, perception, memory) and in study of different aspects in personality and their evaluation (for instance: NEO-Five-Factor Inventory, Emotional Stress Scale, Emotional Intelligence, and Self-Efficacy). Along with him are four collaborators: Dr. Ramos, Dr. Ballesteros, Dr. Fournier and Dr. Moran. His legacy achieves the difficult balance between qualitative / quantitative, ideographic / nomothetic, basic / applied research, where above all, is the person.

The present study aims at investigating the relationship between communication practice, personality and wellbeing of doctors. A sample comprising of 80 general physicians from private hospitals of Gurgaon and Delhi was taken. Standardized Questionnaires, i.e., Internal Communication Scale (Roberts and O’Reilly, 1974), NEO Five Factor Inventory (Costa and McCrac, 1992) and PGI Wellbeing Scale (Verma and Verma, 1989) were administered to measure these variables. Results revealed positive relationship communication practice, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Openness and Wellbeing, Neuroticism is negatively correlated to communicate practice and wellbeing of doctors.

It is intended in this study to present initial reliability and validity data for the Russian adaptation of the Multidimensional Inventory of Religious/Spiritual Well-being (MI-RSWB-R), as being related to personality factors and psychopathology. Therefore, the first version of the MI-RSWB-R was applied to a sample of 192 (147 females) non-clinical subjects, together with the NEO Five Factor Inventory and the Symptom-Check-List (SCL-90-R). The original six-factor structure of the scale could be replicated for the MI-RSWB-R, which also provides satisfying psychometric properties. In accordance with previous research the RSWB total score was linked to more favorable personality traits such as Extraversion ( r = .45), Openness to Experience ( r = .39), and Agreeableness ( r = .38), which was paralleled by substantial negative correlations with increased psychopathology. Our findings support the reliability and structural validity of the MI-RSWB-R as a standardized instrument for addressing the spiritual dimension in Russian populations. Further research in clinical surroundings is now recommended.
